    this girl is ALWAYS ahead of her plane. These vids should serve as training vids. She knows how to focus and knows WHEN to focus. She's up there with her friend showing her stuff yet she never loses sight of the fact that she's navigating that plane. She went through all the formalities- let her friend know the basic primary emergency procedure- didn't make a big deal out of it but made sure she understood about a sterile cockpit during an emergency and she also explained about no talking when 'the finger' goes up. I'm a student pilot and this, to me, is the gold standard of GA.

    • @ss-tx-rx2860
      @ss-tx-rx2860 10 месяцев назад +6

      I have to agree. She's always ahead of the plane, and very humble. I am also an aviator who recently moved to the Houston area. I commented about a specific non-standard procedure that is common at her home drome - specifically the use of the filler phrase "checking in". Like "with you", I was taught that was unnecessary and non-standard, and better omitted. We had a respectful exchange in the RUclips comment section of all places. Aviators aren't known for being the most humble of people. Add on successful social media star, and it's easy to get caught up in your own cult of personality. Kay is a rare exception. Cool to see her going to Stinson, that's where I grew up.

      It's not that hard shes on autopilot. I'm a pilot. It's not hard. Although for a GA pilot she's just, too torough, which is annoying. What I mean is, she's the type who can give a passenger briefing for the same friend every single time even if the friend already knows. She's the type who lands, get off the runway and onto the taxiway, and pulls out the after landing checklist to check on what to do and still flies like each ride is a checklist or training flight.. Like seriously, you don't need to give a passenger brief everytime, and you don't need to check the checklist for certain things like after landing checklist which I mentioned. Just turn off strobes, raise flaps, and lean for taxi. 3 simple things.

On the one hand, she said she was nervous but then took the controls, she declined an altitude change to get out of bumps, asked really good questions and handled radio calls (with such a 'professional' voice). Kay your mastery of flight and instructing is a joy to watch and more so when you share it with a novice. Let Allie know it took thousands of years of our envy for what birds do with ease before we climbed into the sky. Also the Wright brothers practiced flying at the crest of a sand dune in a craft they built while being held down by associates holding ropes. Their first powered attempt failed, but on December 17th, 1903 Wilbur sailed into history as the first powered flight. Maybe its time for you and Allie to visit Kitty Hawk. Cheers!

    Flying in a small airplane like Lil Red is just like flying in a big jumbo jet, except the plane will take a shorter distance on the runway to take off and to land. Plus, the plane will maneuver a little bit quicker than a big jumbo jet. But Allie should have fun and a good time. Have a good flight Kay and Allie.

    I am a huge supporter of flying the airplane to the ground. She didn't chop the power and rush to land. GA aircraft generally have more than enough runway length and i see pilots dive bomb the numbers, chop the power and then porpoise the aircraft down because they have lost some of the effectiveness of the control surface, consequently over controlling the aircraft. Use the propwash and the power to make your control surfaces effective, especially in a low wing, conventical tail config, additionally given her wind scenario. Fantastic job! i will be following this young lady, she makes flying fun and exciting!

    I know your channel is about flying, and I totally enjoy them, but how about a few pics at the restaurant or the river walk, let us see the destination too! 😁. Oh! Did you notice when Allie was pulling back the lever, the guitar matched the downward motion! At 11:52. And my favorite part... This is my friend Allie and today is....... Saturday!😂😂

      Go and subscribe to @kaysgreatgetaway to see the video about River Walk. I'm still working through the first three videos but those will be coming in the next couple of weeks. :)

      Ok, cool! I'll check it out! I just subscribed today after the helicopter video so I didn't know you had another channel! I'm in Savannah GA and today is a rainy day, all of our activities are cancelled so perfect day for you tube videos! 😁

    I remember my first flight in 172. My friend was a crop duster. I had the the controls for a bit, but handed them back because I didn't want to make my dad and friend in the back seats sick! A few years later, another friend and I would take a 152 up once a month just for fun. I can point a 152 anywhere we want to go, except for a successful landing!

    Oh! Definitely I am in love with her skills on cockpit! She could be the best trainer I ever encountered! My trainer was really terrible 😢! He stall a plane just at beginning of training! Was worsen feeling than even doing devil 😈 jumps! Devil jump you know you won’t gonna die! Not plane spinning out of control downwards! 😮 I get sick for 2 days! After that I put my training on hold for a little while till now I saw her! She makes me rethink of completing my training! 😂
