The way voice synthesis and LLMs are headed it won’t be long before generated commentary starts to become a thing. Be amazing to have that in career mode, talking in detail about things that happened in matches and signings you have made.
that'd be great. Not just the career mode stuff but imagine the commentators actually reacting to what they're watching.... but it'll probably take years for EA to ever bother with that
@ I would guess EA would develop the tech for all their games and then roll out. I can imagine a lightweight local LLM and voice synth wouldn’t be that difficult tbh. Lots less time in the studio for the commentators anyway, more about capturing their different nuances, they could probably just train off actual commentary from games - both the LLM and the voice synth.
@@CStheoneandonly well that's embarrassing. Gary Lineker was who I was thinking of - no idea how I got them mistaken for each other with Martin Tyler possibly or maybe Lineker and Tyler did a handful of Fifas together.
@@WOOOPdoctorFROGhere Clive Tyldesley is probably my favourite of all time. I know him from FIFA 99 and 2001, and I love hearing him in old clips of Prem games.
@@MarvMavrothe worst thing is that sky left him. He's said he'd be happy to stay but bizarrely they decided not to renew his contract. It was good to hear him on the bbc champions league highlights - although he seemed to only do one episode and hasn't been on it since
I’m 28 now and I feel like I’ve know these guys my whole life
Creep
Imagine all the millions of people across the world that would have heard their voices whilst playing Fifa.
Legendary.
you don't know what you have til it's gone

CHILDHOOD GREATS
Fofa 08 the pinnacle
Legends!
I think their first Fifa together was 2000 if I am not mistaken?
You’re definitely mistaken. Tyler’s first game was 2005, Smith’s was FIFA 12.

@@dondgamerwasn't that Clive Tyldesley? Another top commentator like Tyler who the mainstream broadcasters have pointlessly sacked off.

smudger❤
Martin has aged a lot since he hung up his microphone
He’s not retired, I still hear him quite often when I watch foreign streams.
He left Sky, not commentating. He's still going strong!
I pray I look and sound as good as that at age 79
