Even as a Newcastle fan I must say Keane done a brilliant job with them and he deserved more opportunities in management, I think he'd do a good job for them even now
Should be managing Manchester United basically did through all our glory years According to all the players he said when training could be cancelled or not according to Steve McClaren he was the one that made them play as good as they did
Legend. Very simple and always honest...RESPECT...as for the knowledge about football I won't even comment on this, I am sure where ever he goes to work he will bring success...
Media have him tarnished. He stood up for himself against a lot of influencial people in the game. And as a repercussion he’s been branded as a mad man as a manager and not given credit for his achievements. That’s why he did this doc think about it. It’s basically a pitch for a job to try and change the publics opinion of him on his terms
@Rain In July it wasnt the money they only wanted him on a contract till end of the season to see how he done then possible extend it and hes point was why give up a good paid job on sky sports for a job where he could be done with end of season
Not a United fan, not a Sunderland fan (albeit I like them as a club) but Roy Keane is a Top man. A true, natural leader. I’m a former military officer and Roy oozes natural leadership quality.
I agree 100% with what you say there. Roy Keane would ave been a great leader if he would have been in a factory or in the army. He was just so determined to do his role no matter what industry he was in. And I wish I was like that to his extreme.
Yes he does. His leadership skills are so subtle they are almost invisible - as they should be. His integrity, morals and values are clear for everyone to see and because he has the correct morals and values people gravitate to him. That builds trust very quickly which leads to positive morale and motivation. I think you already know this from your experience 👍🏻
Will never fall out of love for this man amazing what he did for us at Sunderland plus from the moment I saw him playing for Forest at 17 brilliant bloody brilliant
Bare in mind we'd been relegated twice in recent years, both with record-low points tallies. The club had no manager, uncertain investment and a squad in dire need of a lift. In walked Keane and within a few months, results had improved and the mood in the city and the club was completely lifted. He underplays his role in it, I think. The players were the ones on the pitch but it was Keane that was the puppet master pulling the strings, inspiring them every match, From bottom to top in 37 matches. Then he kept us from being relegated and we were signing some quality players, establishing ourselves and really looking to challenge. Of course the board and players helped, but Keane was the catalyst. The two and a half years he was here were a great time to be a Sunderland fan. Lets hope under Alex Neil they are just round the corner again.
Legend if man united had him for the last 10 years we would not be where we are. All of them fairies and f****** bluffers would be gone people would f****** sweat blood for that shirt like all of his area did
Definitely Ferguson should of eased him in till the day Keane could take over. He basically managed them anyway when you hear the players talk about it now how Keane was the most important inspirational and best player and they didn't want to disappoint him. But Ferguson let his ego get in the way he didn't want Keane getting to much credit
Proud to be able to say that I'm from the same city as a legend of a footballer like Roy Keane, thank you for all the amazing memories Roy you were an absolute pleasure to watch play. 👏
For those who listen to talk sport radio. I remember this being one of the many and most embarrassing predictions by Adrian Durham. He said that Roy didnt know enough about modern football management as hed only worked really for...are you ready......... Brian clough and sir alex ferguson. He said and i quote... "Sunderland now face back to back relegations" because they've hired roy keane.... well Roy took them out of the relegation and won the league that year. Hahahaha.
I haven't watched football seriously for around a decade. But I remember this season as it possibly some of my best experiences as a youngster. Some things never leave you, even if you do fall away from a sport like football. I loved those times and can't wait to take my son to a Sunderland game one day.
I'm a Man United fan but being a Trinidadian, huge Roy Keane fan, I paid close attention to Sunderland because fellow Trinidadians played there. Carlos Edwards, Dwight Yorke and Stern John I believe. Still a fan of Sunderland.
Superb on and off the pitch. Great knowledge and as straight as they come. Defo had more to give as a manager, but i think that ship has sadly sailed, football's loss.
Mad how watching a TV documentary on RUclips makes you realise just how weak TV content is in terms of best practice attention retention. I'm 5 minutes in, and the documentary hasn't started yet. Just a plethora of looping B-Roll about the situation prior to Keane starting the job. I think I've seen some clips repeated FIVE TIMES!!! Madness.
Maybe it’s not all about attention retention. Maybe it’s a documentary for people who doesn’t need a proverbial jangling of keys constantly to keep someone watching. So much better than the modern day Netflix crap.
I've listened to Roy talk about teams and players, and now watching this, he could manage a club again. Right staff, good recruitment and who's to say what could happen.
It is literally insane not an owner watching this would have an reservations about hiring this man. He is a born winner. Maybe football has changed but for me there should always be a place for a man like Roy Keane. Player or Manager football will always need a tough win at all costs man. 🍀🤟
Sam alladayce is still being used so to not use Roy Keane is a joke but everyone knows why. You can't be enemies with the most powerful manager ever and expect friends. Most chairman will ask Ferguson advice and it won't be good
Weird how he's always referred to as a failure when it comes to management. He was a success. People seem to assume that if you don't win a trophy, regardless of which team you manage, then you're a failure
People who say he failed as a manager are clueless, I can't comment on his time at Ipswich because I'm not an Ipswich fan but he done a brilliant job at Sunderland, got us promoted after being bottom of the league at the start of the season, kept us up in the second season, the third season things started to turn a bit sour behind the scenes and he fell out with the board and resigned but his first two seasons he achieved both goals

@Fire TV nope. He's tactically useless for the modern game as shown by his punditry. Did well at Sunderland as they had the best squad
Keano = legend!
That shot of keane brooding while the players celebrate promotion is class 😂
Should be managing Manchester United basically did through all our glory years According to all the players he said when training could be cancelled or not according to Steve McClaren he was the one that made them play as good as they did
Great memories of Keano at SAFC. Superb job. And the bloke fitted the club.
Just A Pure Legend In General Roy Keane So Humble It's Just Amazing U Wood Want Roy Keane Any Dressing Room The Man Is Just Pure Football
Legend. Very simple and always honest...RESPECT...as for the knowledge about football I won't even comment on this, I am sure where ever he goes to work he will bring success...
Really hope another team in England gives him a chance, I literally forgot how much of an achievement this was.
Such an admirable person. I always love his take on everything.
Not sure why he hasn't gotten another chance
Top guy
Vastly misunderstood
Love him
i think its players like agbonlahor who complained about how tough he was in the changing room
@Rain In July it wasn't a fair chance then...
@@walshknwsbest I guess you right
@Rain In July it wasnt the money they only wanted him on a contract till end of the season to see how he done then possible extend it and hes point was why give up a good paid job on sky sports for a job where he could be done with end of season
Great doc. Great guy. Wish him back into management one day wherever he ends up.
What a bloke ! Grinned from ear to ear the whole time watching this !
Cheers dits
No dits spun mate.
Unbelievable Roy Keane what a great achievement here brilliant story
Done a great job tbf. And very humble from Keane giving all the credit to the players
Hahahaha.
Would be unreal if he went back to United as a manager
I haven't watched football seriously for around a decade. But I remember this season as it possibly some of my best experiences as a youngster. Some things never leave you, even if you do fall away from a sport like football. I loved those times and can't wait to take my son to a Sunderland game one day.
Roy deserves a chance at a big club. Some people are afraid off him because he’s a winner???They are growing ass men.
Would Man U give him that chance?
I loved the Keane era at Sunland. Some of the best days at SOL.
Rou Keane is an exceptional manager , ultimate gaffer to learn from Sir ALex Ferguson
Bruce, Pardue, Allydyce, etc etc seem to get chance after chance, but a great potential manager like Keane get only 1 chance, crazy.
Forgot how many great goals Carlos Edwards scored. Some pearlers!
I've listened to Roy talk about teams and players, and now watching this, he could manage a club again. Right staff, good recruitment and who's to say what could happen.
The fact that Keano kept stressing on - it’s about the players, it’s about the players- shows his class and humility! Absolute GEM 💎
He was definitely a failure
He did brilliantly
@@MyCold1 he did terribly. Proven at Ipswich.
What did he win.,.nothing.n
@john dunne what 🏆
If I was United I’d take him in a heartbeat
What a great documentary. This is exactly what I want from this channel. Looking forward to more!
Happy days, Keane was great for SAFC in many ways! gutted when he left....
Best pundit ever. Legend and a great inspiration imo. No players like him now.
RIP Liam Miller
Yes and Marton fulop RIP
9:33 someone not paid for their licence? 😂
Thank you very much for this!! Really loved it and glad you've shared on RUclips! Please produce more of these and get them up on RUclips!!
You actually learn a couple of life lessons listening to Keano! Legend.
