Family honour is becoming nonexistent because people realised that just because you’re related to someone, doesn’t mean you need to let them walk all over you. Whether it’s your mother, father, brother, sister etc. If I won’t let a random man on the street talk down to me, I won’t let my father do it either simply because we share blood.

Not everyone is a pushover like you seem to be. Being related to someone doesn’t make them an inherently good person to be around. They could be terrible people, or you might just not get along. Being family isn’t an excuse for negative behaviour, and if you’re suggesting otherwise then I have to ask you if everything is alright at home? It’s not a matter of respect, it’s about knowing your self worth and not letting people disrespect you, make you uncomfortable, or harm you just because you happen to be related. Roy had a great career but the 1 thing that’ll always stand out for me was that Juventus game in 99. Getting beaten 2-0, he gets booked knowing he’s not going to make the final if they can somehow pull it back. I was gutted for him but at the same time thinking that was one helluva shift he put in to make sure his teammates made the final. What a captain he was.
