He let Ireland down when we needed him 😡
@@glengathousethink The irish Fa let Ireland down and Roy was standing up for Ireland. Are you someone who sits and talks or stands and fights ??? The greatest Irish men stood up for more and that's what Roy did so "feck off"
I've been a Man Utd fan for 40 years now. I've seen a lot of great players come and go. But Roy Keane was the only player that made me cry when he left the club.
Becks was bigger news
Cr7?
@@J1122Keane is a bigger United Legend
@@JPhilocypher he's in my FIFA squad snm
@@HealthyHappyThankfulno chance, United fans aren't CR7 fans, we don't care what a player has done at another club we care about their impact at United and Keane had a much bigger impact at United than CR7 ever did, he's considered as United's greatest ever captain for a reason.
One thing about Keane that always gets overlooked....his first touch and short passing were immaculate. He never gave the ball away.
Agreed mate. There’s technical players around him to do the fancy stuff. Probably the best in the world at the time at doing the simple stuff and keeping the game ticking. His attitude towards the game was elite as well. Can’t really coach that, so that makes him one of a kind in my eyes. And I’m a Leicester fan who didn’t even like him in his playing days haha
100% agree
@spiffydaily8855 Would you believe he used to get dogs abuse from Irish TV sports pundits for playing too many simple passes. I remember Johnny Giles and Frank Stapleton both being critical of him about this. They were always saying he wasn't world class because he wasn't making enough assists. I think they saw in Keane a rival to their own past greatness and wanted to put him down.
@@killbotone6210 I completely believe it. I suppose in a Man Utd team full of flashy gits, it’s probably easy to see Keane as the weak link in that regard? But imho, you have to appreciate him for what he’s there for. That said, was he ever really appreciated before he was gone? Lots of players seem to be labelled as world class these days, but it’s usually once they’re gone!
He had a god like piece of control v Bayern away.
Schmeichel ,facing his own goal had to hoof a back pass straight up into the air ,so high that it floated enough to drop into the left wing where Keane was.
Elber ,seeing this , started to press but immediately gave up with a slump when Keane dragged down the ball ,swiveled and successfuly passed forward ,in one motion.
Ball didn't touch the ground, it's in the Roy Keane passing compilation.
They should have a statue of keane at old Trafford most successful captain ever at the club
Need a Cantona one as well
They where almost invincible
Everyone talks about Roy the way Roy talks about Dennis Irwin 😂
It was blood, sweat and tears from Keano. I used to get pumped up just watching Keano coming onto the pitch.. focused, grit and determination writ all over his face… no time for niceties.
As a swede I was never ever worried when being drawn against England in the euros or world cup. But if Roy Keane was born in England you would probably have won euro 92, gone far in world cup in 94,win 96 and 2000.
This is a good way to see what a difference a hard working Irishman will do for a team. If his name is Roy Keane you have arrived at the top of the mountain. As a Milan fan there I have somebody to compare this man to who are just as crazy. Gennaro Gattuso and Roy Keane, the two only world class tough guys that every team mate loves!
Even as a Liverpool fan you cant help but love roy keane
Love was very strong word...he has become less hated and somewhat likeable later years.....
Why?
Cristiano Ronaldo also said Keane was the best captain he ever had & that he helped him develop into the player he became
As a United fan for 56 years, Roy Keane would be my first name on the team sheet of my all time United best team
I would tend to say Duncan Edwards - but perhaps that was before your time.
That’s a bold statement, what about George?
1958 I started supporting United now 72 he would be my first on the sheet
For me Keane is on the top 20 of all time. I am portuguese and a Man United and Benfica fan since i can remember. I remember and love alot of players that played there, but Keane and Scholes were on other level. A short skinny artist guy and a psico killer protecting him 😂 it was fun to watch . Great memories 😊
Great video, brought back very good memories. Thanks 👍
Of all the players I've seen in my almost 50 years of supporting United, prime Keano is the player this current team could do with the most. Read the game well, positionally sound, strong defensively, very rarely gave the ball away, bossed the middle of the park, a true leader, determined, passionate, demanded 100% from everyone on the team, high energy, covered box to box, and popped up with a good number of goals and assists. In essence, everything this current team isn't.
He would do as a sub for Bryan Robson. The game didn't start with tge Premier league
@marktaylor5722 Thanks, I'm well aware that the game didn't start before PL, having watched it since the early '70s, but for me Keano still just edges Robbo (as much as I loved him) - though I'd happily have both in the current midfield.
As much as Keane is #1 on the teamsheet, current team is absolutely dying for any of Ruud, Rooney, Yorke, Ole, RvP, hell I'd take Forlan, just someone to stick it in the onion bag!
I think half the team would quit within a week if keano was captain, the shock they would be in for is unreal!
@@marktaylor5722sub if they were playing cricket maybe. He's the best midfielder ever to play for united.
Greatest United ever had.Its not unusually to have a player that gives it his all but keane got the best out of everyone he drove the team on like no other player could do.
Keane and Scholes really was the dream combo... really suited one another! And Giggs on the left, Beckham on the right... bloody hell!
It was like a boy band with four distinguished characters
@@BinhNguyen-qm5ji lol don’t know how they hell they let Roy Keane in 😂😳 he must have been the one who could actually hold a tune 👍
Never been a United fan , but Keane is a legend, a fooking
field Marshall 👊🏽😎
Probably the most underrated "footballer". People think he was hard, aggressive and a leader. He was all of those things but for those of us lucky enough to watch him for united for many years also realise this man could play. He could pass, he scored important goals, he put his body on the line. He was a much better player than a lot of people give him credit for. Would be my first name on any team sheet
Only one player that I have respect for as a person is Roy. LEGEND,
As a PERSON? No, as a player, sure
No one will ever have that passion again for the game . True leader
No one? Ever? Big words.
Almost invincible like Vieira

Roy Keane was a player that everyone who wasn't a Man U fan loved to hate and give stick to, but, given the choice, would've loved him to be in their team. Quality player. wish he had played for the Toon.
Same my man. As a toon fan hated the prick. But I love the guy now and if we'd of signed him we would of won the league in the 90s
The most important player to have ever played in this country. Others may have had more ability but he had enough to be a true great because for him it was more his mentality and football intelligence that set him apart.
Hum....that sounds woke talk to me
@@daverannJesus Christ, please tell me you’re either a bot or joking around……..! What the fuck does that comment have to do with being ‘woke’

Amazing how all the best players of his era named him as the best including Gerrard and he was the leader of the greatest team, but he is not considered as the best in the media. If he had been English England would have won 2 major trophies and he would be seen as the greatest without question. Because he is Irish he is not. Every player has different traits and his traits were unique which elevated him above the rest. Without a doubt the best player in PL history.
Roy Keane is highly rated. Obviously English Media is going to talk about English players, specially since players like Stevie and Lampard are more recent. I am pretty sure the media of your country talks about your players and not Steven Gerrard.
Part of makes him Roy Keane is the fact he is Irish though. You still make a decent point though.
Greatest captain the Premier league has ever seen. God how utd could do with a player like him now.
I'll he's not even the best captain utd has ever had. Never mind the best prem captain.

Even Cillian Murphy mentions him. That tells you how much he's admired.

@tevildo45 The greatest player the country has ever produced. The traitors were those who stuck by whilst a non Irish Manager kicked Keane out of our team.....disgrace
Roy Keane the Legend 👏❤
Keane was an amazing player
We need another video of this type with other legends of the game! Great video
Cheers!
@@footballuncontext1166could you do one on Tony Adams at all. He's a legend too

If Keane was English playing in the England national team I believe they would have had two world cups. His leadership and will to win would have put them over the line.
Agree but Bryan Robson was the closest thing to him if he wasn’t injured so much for England
Nah not even with Messi 😂
There's no way, too many of our players were busy injuring each other in the prem league.
If Keane had played in the world cup for Ireland we might have won one too 😅. C'est la vie.
If England had more faith in Matt Le Tissier, you would have won a major trophy.
What an exceptional footballer! He was never afraid to stick to him principles and demanded the best from everyone be it on the pitch or the commentary box
Roy was standing behind the camera in all of these interviews 😂
I've heard that story from Kammy before, but what a great way to finish that clip 😂
'Roy always kept you on your toes' I'm starting to think Scholesy is obsessed
Whenever i see Roy Keane, you dont need to have a great talented nor skills to be a great player when you have the mentality and all you think is about Winning the game and if you are willing to give everything you got to Win it.
😊
Man utd had some great players over the years but Roy keane for me is the best player I've seen at utd never gave the ball away ever gave Zidane a lesson against juventes in the second leg champions league
Stop exaggerating - Keane himself said he couldn't do a thing with Zidane.
@ngc-fo5te yeah only walk all over him in the semifinal that night how do you think they got through
@mayopower3372 Go and watch Keanes comments about playing Zidane.
Also when you state Keane never gave the ball away - I have to ask, why are you lying?
You haven't got a clue
@mayopower3372 Says the kid who states Keane never gave the ball away. Again, are you just lying?
You kids today need to stop stating lies and stop using the word great too easily.
And for the 3rd time - go listen to Keanes comments about how he struggled against Zidane.
One of the greatest players ever. Most important player in our most successful period

People talk about Roy Keane as an inspirational captain, a winner and a leader but I still think people underrate him as an actual player. Utd broke the transfer record to sign him from a relegated club for a reason, he was the best young central midfield player in the country at the time. He transitioned from an attacking midfielder to a box to box and then to a DM. He could play RM, CB and RB without any problems. He was exceptional.
Best leader ever ! He would have been the best at ANYTHING he chose to do.... joiner/selling fruit/running a business/mechanic.... A propper stand up example of a man !
He wad almost invincible like Vieira
Imagine what that man would be worth now??? Priceless
Keane is the best prem player ever...proper legend 🙌

Always had the team ahead of his own personal glory. You wouldn’t catch roy trying to lift the European cup with a full kit on despite not playing a second of the final.
The biggest benefit other than him being a beast of a footballer and a fantastic leader he motivated the people around him he also got a good % extra out of everyone else around him and that is immeasurable
MYSELF I AM IRISH, AND FULL OF PRIDE FOR THE, ABSOLUTELY 💯 BRILLIANT 💯 👏 COMPLETED WORDS, FROM THE BEST 👌 PLAYERS IN THE WORLD 🌎. THANKS FROM IRELAND 🇮🇪. ❤🎉
1st game I went to in 1974, Old Trafford. Since that day I've never seen anybody as good as Keane. '99 in Juve, he dragged the team by rhe scruff in f the neck, even realising the Final was now impossible. True Great..
My favourite captain 🙌🏽
Talk about warrior, determination, fierce does him little service. His reading, passing, positional and the only player ever physically able to turn a match when things were going wrong were his greatest strengths
Brilliant video. I would choose Roy Keane all day long. No messing manager and takes no prisoners. Legend of a midfielder and passion over money 👍
Fan since the 80's. Still my captain of captains and probably forever will be.
I think the emergence of Paul Scholes in the last ten years as an underrated player has made Keane criminally underrated. He was by far United's best midfielder until his final game in the shirt. Everyone talks about the 99 Champions League final and how we were terrified that Keane wasn't playing he was that important. But Scholes was out for that final too and it's not mentioned. Keane was top 5 in the ballon d'Or that year even though he missed the biggest game.
Keane is warrior. If I could bring 1 player back it would be him!
Rooney would be a close 2nd to bring back but we need a Keane right now

it's all about winning and making the winning plays and leading by example in that. Keano was exactly like that
Does anyone know from which documentary the first clip of ryan giggs is from?
Keane is actually the greatest Prem Midfielder. Biggest talisman in Utd most successful period
United (my team) have had some great players, really great players, but I wonder whether their gradual slide into what to be honest is playing pretty ordinary football didn't begin when Fergie retired in 2013 but a little earlier, in 2005, when Roy Keane left 'by mutual consent'.
From what I hear Fergie had some reason started to take against him - Roy's habit of always speaking his mind did not help, there was no side to Keane - and that was it. United lost a great player but more than that a great inspiration to the other players.
your a united fan but u dont know the story ? really? the team got pumped at boro and it was keanes turn to do the interview for MUTV afterwards,he threw all his teamates under the bus naming many of them, fergie got wind of it and stopped it being broadcast,he called a team meeting and the whole squad including keane watched the interview back, fergie and keane had a shouting match then everyone went home, fergie announced at training the next day that keane would never play for the club again,he soon left for celtic, nobody messes with sir alex
Without Keane Man U never woukd have been as good 👍
There's not one player on the planet nowadays with half the passion and commitment to the game anymore.

When history reflects Roy Keane was to Man Utd what Graeme Souness was a generation earlier for Liverpool . Little Generals wanting to dictate the outcome. Every successful team needs one.
I remember that interview with Ian Wright and the cardboard cutout of Sol Campbell 😂
Wish Liverpool got him in the early 90s and we wouldnt have had as many seasons or maybe had to wait so long for a league
