He kept saying he wasn’t the best of players. Let me tell you, I watched Utd live many times and even in that great team he was the best player I’ve ever seen. Football isn’t just about how many step overs you can do. I’m his prime Roy controlled everything on the pitch. He was constantly moving team mates into the right place. He hardly ever lost the ball and always moved the ball forward. He was a joy to watch.

You simply have to love this man. It doesn't matter where you're from, what you do, the man oozes honesty, loyalty, commitment and doesn't TRY to be loved by anyone - he's his own man and is total class. Humility despite the highest achievements and integrity. Wonderful man. Not a man utd fan, was only getting into football after his peak, but hugely appreciative of his impenetrable character. The sort of man I want to be.

Just a couple of guys down the pub having a chat. Both legends in their field, you can see the respect they both have for each other. What stood out the most was the questions were deep but didn’t cross the line. You’d never ask someone about something that wasn’t common place knowledge or had been done to death. I thoroughly enjoyed this, very light and insightful.

That has to be one of the best interviews I have ever seen. . Tommy Tiernan paces the interview perfectly and Roy Keane responds thoughtfully & honestly, i found it quite emotional. A lot of people probably dont get Roy Keane at all, you get the impression that he wouldnt really care anyway. He is totally 100 % honest and says it how it is and Its clear that he was able to move on after his career had finished and is content with life. keep doing what you do Roy- youre a great person and you are much loved and admired by many.Other interviewers take note....watch & listen to how Tommy Tiernan does it .

Roy plays down how good he actually was. That Champions League semi final 2nd leg against Juventus in Turin in 1999 was epic. Juventus 2 - 0 ahead after 10 mins & I thought it was game over but when he pulled it back scoring that header to make it 2 - 1, that's when he took the game by the balls. Juventus had Edgar Davids known as The Pitbull but Roy was a lion that night & was determined they were going to win of which they did & he got a yellow card that cost him playing in the final. Love watching him as a pundit nowadays, just tells it straight. Great to see him relaxed and humble, absolute legend.

Just watched this and it's amazing how Keane is so good at acceptance. Accepting that he had to work hard at 9/10 to get to England, acceptance of his weaknesses, his mistakes and his technical ability as a footballer and acceptance that it was over. Clearly, he doesn't delude himself but at the same time, he knew that his strength was his will to win. However, I would say personally that the defensive side of his game was up there with any elite player, brilliant at timing tackles and good distribution to other teammates when he won balls back.

This has got to be one of the best interviews ever for an ex/current pro athlete. I think the reason why so many people resonate with Roy Keane is he represents all the qualities and values we see in ourselves or have been taught from a young age. Forget his football success for a moment, this man represents hard work, loyalty, discipline, integrity, honesty and commitment. All the characteristics you would want in a partner, son/daughter, best friend etc. He transcended Man United and the way professional sport and football was viewed in this country. Finally, he downplays his technical skills a lot and says he had to play on the edge to make up for his lack of technical skills. But let me tell you this man was as gifted as any midfielder. Real football fans know he had absolutely everything. An absolute legend and icon of world football and sport.

I was obsessed with football stats when I was growing up and he was in his prime. He also was a 10+ goals a year player early in Nottingham but changed his role later on.

His passing accuracy was phenomenal, especially when you take into account he is looking to play it forward
He was noted as being one of the greatest passers to the forwards feet, even rooney said he was the best at it. He perfected the weight and timing of the pass which looked simple
I guess Roy was brilliant at the simple stuff and was very consistent. Definitely could be relied on for goals if his teammates struggled and as you say, he scored enough early on when he was more of a box to box player
