This still gives me chills. I can’t get over how fast this happened.
Same here. I'd been out all day at The Tour of Britain cycling. Had an amazing day, met some of my cycling heroes and watched a great race. I got home, buzzing with excitement. I'd been home no more than five minutes and I got a text from my Brother. It simply said "put bbc1 on" and I came down to earth with a thud! Even now it still sometimes feels unreal.
It took me 3 months to get over it and fully come to terms with the fact that Charles is now King. Until Christmas, I would watch clips from her funeral on a daily basis, the parts with the National Anthem, the bagpipes and the funeral marches.
It only got worse with me: not even 3 weeks after the Queen, I lost grandma due to a combination of pneumonia and heart failure (not to mention that she was in a sorry state due to a stroke she got in her 70s) and now the next one may be... *ARGH!!!*
Forget it... I can't continue. I was left so devastated with no one being able to comfort me (and I am still devastated) that now I wanna kill myself, but I can't. I just can't. Sorry. I must stop here because I'm losing what's left of my sanity. Sorry.
@@Malick-ix9io I wish I could do something to help you, something more than just posting a comment on RUclips. Killing one's self might seem a solution to our depression and problems, but it has a tragic effect on the people left behind. These people left behind aren't necessarily our family or friends. They could be classmates, colleagues, neighbours whose relationship with us is just an exchange of "hellos" or simply the knowledge of each other's existence.
I am sure that these people would be devastated to hear such awful news. That their neighbour, colleague, classmate is gone forever and they will feel sorry for having not tried to reach you and have stronger bonds with you.
I am very sorry of your losses, I truly am and I wish this type of communication didn't make it feel as if my words are fake and meaningless, empty words in a digital world.
Fate has today chosen my homeland, Greece, to show its ugly face. In the past few years of constant despair, I personally take comfort thinking that there are people out there who every day do their best for their fellow men, who love every human living on this planet and who pray for their wellbeing.
As the Nobel laureate Greek poet, Odysseas Elytis once said: "Amidst the sadness of the endless and omnipresent mediocrity that makes us suffocate, I take comfort that somewhere, in a small bedroom, some stubborn people are struggling to stop the decay." I think of that quote every single day and it gives me courage to continue my own voyage in this world.
Same😢

I remember that day it was a unforgettable day
You can do all the rehearsals and preparations you want, but nothing can prepare you for the moment you have to look the nation, and maybe even the world, in the eye and deliver the dreadful news.
Huw Edwards couldn't have done it better. He had his Walter Cronkite moment just after 6:30pm on Thursday 8th September 2022 and Huw was superb. A legacy quite wonderfully cemented.
Edit: I know everything that has happened with regards to Huw Edwards since and how it's all playing out. Even so, this is still his best moment as a BROADCASTER.
I very much enjoyed his series about his native Wales (available on youtube).
I actually thought that she was sick or something, not that she would die.
@@Malick-ix9io When 8 September began, I was under the impression that she would still be around in the year 3000
The media ruined this man - he did absolutely nothing wrong and they hounded him so badly he ended up in a psych ward.
@@bilbofaggin5can you say the same now though?😀
When Huw Edwards said two words was when I burst into tears. Those words, The King. Words not spoken in this country since 1952. Words not spoken in my lifetime for a British Monarch until that point (me born 1964)
Of course they've been spoken in this country since 1952! What about when people are talking about history, or chess to name but two.

when he said “the moment that so many people have dreaded for so long has come…” that was the moment i began to bawl my eyes out.
When the BBC announced that Queen Elizabeth died, I ran upstairs to my room and locked myself in; Mummy could see how heartbroken I was and Woody.EXE proclaimed me as his Queen just 10 minutes later, it was just nuts that mine and Woody.EXE’s reign was literally just happening. I’m so glad I had met him 3 days before so Woody.EXE was able to blend in his new unexpected reign that he didn’t know was coming until 4 days later
I'm damn near death myself. She was the only queen I ever knew. My whole life it was her on the throne. Condolences to her family and subjects. She was a fine ruler as these things go.
One thing that astounds me still is that how the world stopped to mourn the loss of the queen!!
only brits mourned her, nobody else gave a fuck lmao

I watched this live on TV from the moment I first heard some rumours of the queen’s death. Such an unforgettable moment.
Same, my mum and I had BBC one on and we watched the rolling news special on Her late Majesty’s health. But when I watched the land rovers speed thought the gates of the Balmoral estate I turned to my mum and said.
“I think this is it.” We watched slack jawed as we saw the footage of the Union Flag flying half mast on Buckingham Palace. Then the screen faded to black and the image came up. It’s one of the days that you know where you were when the news broke.
Mummy watched as I hit my hand because I had a horrible anxiety attack in college so Sophie allowed me to go home earlier because she knew I was unwell. Hours later from Her Majesty’s death, I told Woody the heartbreak he dreaded since 2021 and his reaction was “YOUR LYING TO ME!” I replied “Huh no I’m not!” and he just screamed in my arms with grief, I felt awful for Woody because he adores the Queen
@sboudreaux27
Me and Woody we’re just standing there until Mummy joins in the moment of our grief. Woody just emotionally detearated during her funeral and so did I

I’ll never forget that moment when I was finishing up my 12 hr shift in the lovely refrigerated warehouse environment of Culina, wrapping beautifully made food pallets with cardboard floors, when the radio turned an eerie turn to silence, then the hymns and shocking news. My heart started pounding thinking “oh dear God no”, so I left my truck parked and switched off to run to the reception desk, and when the server said the sad truth, my heart sank. I later sobbed.
The queen was an icon for all of us, regardless of nationality. Losing her was like losing a member of the family. Something that you hold most dear in life.

That was so painful.😢 Our beloved Holy Queen.

I remember this, I was teary-eyed for hours, I don't even live in the UK, I live in the US and I give the Royal Family and HM Queen Elizabeth II respect no matter what it takes, King Charles is currently taking over and I respect that to the full extent
I barely slept the night Queen Elizabeth died and I appreciated Woody.EXE for staying overnight to keep an eye on me if I break down at any time; he would immediately inform my mother who is now Mummy, Princess of Wales of my increasing grief and Woody.EXE stayed at my house until the day after Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. What a month it was for the both of us starting our new reign for wales
It was a massive moment. We dreaded it and it came as a shock despite her age. It was an awful day. The end of the Elizabeth age. Our greatest monarch. It was disorienting and still is really.

11:05 - The final message from Queen Elizabeth II, announcing to her kingdom and to the world that she had reached her heaven, and was thanking her people for allowing her to be the faithful servant that she was.
We were on a yacht sailing off the coast of Croatia. Had No tv and couldn't watch anything. Not ashamed to say I sobbed. Although she was elderly, it was such a shock still. As an Aussie, I remember being a little girl and we would start our school day singing God Save The Queen.

This is the only time I watched the BBC for any extended period in recent times. It was a well prepared for and scripted programme of decent sincerity and solemnity that the BBC has been famed for and thankfully lived up to on this very sad day indeed.
It's much better when planned and scripted, especially for such an important but sombre moment like this. Ensures stability.
Never have I seen such sadness on the faces of the newsreaders.
I agree with "Elizabeth The Great"

The BBC newscaster who announced Her Majesty's passing must have felt like CBS's Walter Cronkite when he announced President Kennedy's death in 1963.
God Rest the Queen. She had seen enough, and given the insane direction in which this world is headed, I believe she picked an opportune time to Kick the Royal Bucket.
She suffered from bone cancer.
I'm never gonna forget that day. Heartbreaking. End of an Era. We'll meet again in the afterlife, Mam. 💜💜💜
Her prime ministers of the last twelve years were born after her ascension. Impressive.
I think that the Royal family/ monarchy is very lucky, that they now have two wonderful, and very supportive women, among The senior Royals.
Both Queen Camilla and princess Catherine, is from very stable and loving home's..
Both King Charles, and next William are very lucky to have supportive wife's .. working with them, not against them.
Just like prince Philip, always was there for Queen Elizabeth.
It is Lovely to see, the family is supportive of each other..
That Princess Royal Anne, her husband and children, prince Andrew and his children, prince Edward, his lovely wife and children... Have shows all their Support of King Charles, Queen Camilla, and their families.. is was family is All about 😊
I remember watching this on the internet as it happened…
This was a week before my life began to change forever, I was just 40 and just went out for a late night walk somewhere, and I think my knee might have either dislocated or locked in, and I fell onto a very busy road, and I ended up in hospitals/rehabilitation centres for 51 weeks, I am trying to get back to normal now, but it will just take time, I had a peg in my tummy, and had one catheter in me while I was in hospital. I have had a second catheter since, and one night in my local hospital I was in so much pain, and one of the staff told me your call bell is not a toy.
I was in an American Doctor's surgury when my American wife told me this. I was shocked beyond measure. Her Majesty was a wonderful servant to our nation.
I’ve dreaded this moment for years, I screamed out loud crying and stood up from my sofa to god save the queen/ king in my dressing gown lol . Rip your majesty. ….thank you for everything ❤
I sobbed and all my housemates stared at me like what's up with you 😂😢 xx
I cried and Mummy now the Princess of Wales comforted me as the announcement was happening and I’ll never forget Mummy saying “oh my god, it’s not?!…it’s lowered!” My screams were too gut wrenching for her to get over and Mummy told me everything was okay to calm me down.
