Alaska flyer from Hawaii. haven't stopped fist pumping yet. I left Hawaiian because Alaska's call center customer service was light years better. Not even close. To be able to (eventually) combine both airlines lounge networks makes me smile inside. The new interim Hawaiian CEO gave an interview to the local Hawaii paper, the "star advertiser" and outlined a lot of the things people want to know. take a read!
I am also excited about this merging. I am a loyal flyer of Alaska airline and great to see the growth of Alaska and the benefits Alaska/Hawaii offer for their customers!

@@hugoalcala261 Hawaiian program will continue to operate independently for now so the hawaiian chart will be the Hawaiian awards. I suspect the Hawaiian award chart will transfer for 'Hawaiian" flights on MVP and the MVP award chart will stay the same on continental flights.
I am so excited about this merger! As a Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines frequent flyer, this is such great news! They are both great airlines. Please update the HA website so that customers can use credit vouchers and change flights online, please! Looking forward to being able to have a frequent flyer program that is interchangeable.
I'm a loyal Alaska customer because they have great service and pricing . Im also a native of Maui and loyal to the Hawaiian service. This is a great merger.
This is great news!!! Alaska is widely accepted as the 2nd best us airline, just behind delta. And Alaska is far more affordable and customer friendly than delta. As a loyal Alaska flier, I’m excited! Please fly NYC to KOA on Dreamliners!!!!
Glad to see both companies succeed. I hope you the combined company doesn't forget who got your companies to where it is today. The loyal paying customers. I would forward to seeing you make the Hawaiian Alaska Airlines grow and keep that long history and loyalty to good customer service.
I am so excited for this merger. Hopefully this will open up South Pacific diving opportunities that will make travel from Fairbanks easier. Thank you Alaska Airlines!

I love this! I was in Alaska last year for 9 weeks and then flew to Hawaii right after. Then I remember hearing about this announcement and was so excited. Great achievement 👏
Awesome ❤. The flights we've taken via Alaska Airlines (Las Vegas to Seattle and back) have been some of the best experiences my family and I have had in the air. Congratulations on what appears to be a successful merger!! 🎉
I am the 113th viewer of this video! Hawaii Airlines and Alaska Airlines, congratulations to you both! Hawaiian Airlines, you are now formally a part of the Oneworld Alliance! I never imagined the day would come!

This is great 25.00 fares for inter-island travel! And a Hawaiian Ferry System financed by Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines! They are really looking out for us. I am so excited.
Keep the "uniqueness" of both brands!!! Love both Alaska & Hawaii!! Deals are always appreciated!!! Thanks :) Don't become "penny-pitching" especially with carry-ons.
As an Alaska card member I'm optimistic this could be good news, glad to hear that they are gong to keep both brands, they didn't do that with the Virgin acquisition. I've never flown Hawaiian but have always wanted to. I plan to do many trips to Hawaii in retirement, which hopefully is soon. It would be great if we could use our companion fare to fly either airline!
I adore this! Last year, I spent nine weeks in Alaska before taking a quick flight to Hawaii. Then, I recall being ecstatic when I learned about this announcement. Outstanding accomplishment
¡Soy el 113o individuo en ver este video! ¡Felicitaciones a ambas aerolíneas, Alaska Airlines y Hawaiian Airlines! ¡Hawaiian Airlines es ahora un miembro oficial de la Alianza Oneworld! No imaginé que vería el día.
Fantastic. Some of my family's and my greatest air travel experiences have been on Alaska Airlines flights from Las Vegas to Seattle and back. Congratulations on what seems to be a merger that went well!
I can't wait for this merger to happen. Hopefully, this will create more chances for South Pacific diving and facilitate travel from Fairbanks. I'm grateful to Alaska Airlines!
Wonderful news! As an Alaska Airlines Rewards Member, I think this is a great move for my preferred carrier. I see more opportunities to earn rewards, more places to travel. I'm looking forward to seeing where this merger of these two outstanding, customer service driven carriers takes me! Let's Go! Mahalo~DC
What a lovely news! I'm a frequent flier of both airlines. I love the great and friendly customer service of Hawaiian Airlines. I love the affordable and many flight options Alaska Airlines offers in the US. I'm from Oahu but moved to PNW few years ago. We have frequent visitors from Hawaii and we visit home often. Please have more direct flight and service options at Seatac & Paine Field airports. Looking forward to your new loyalty rewards & frequent flyer program. God bless! Best wishes and Mahalo! 🌺😊🤙💜✈️
I can't wait for this merger to happen. Hopefully, this will create more chances for South Pacific diving and facilitate travel from Fairbanks. I'm grateful to Alaska Airlines!
They are almost entirely airbus with more 330’s on order. I assume Pilot type ratings and longer ETOPs flights is why they will keep their branding separate and not go all 737 and ditch the airbus’s like they did with Virgin?
Can't wait to see the generous rewards! HA has the best on flight customer service in my opinion, but the worst website regarding voucher use. So, hopefully that changes for HA. Alaskan Airline has always been great, but I can't use them as much as I would like because I live in IOWA. So I usually have to either drive to Chicago or hop a flight over to a city that Alaskan flies in order to use my points. I'm excited to see what this merger brings, though, as my brother just bought a house on the big island of Hawaii! I will be using these airlines for sure.
I am happy Alaska Airlines Hawaiian Airlines merge, and I’m happy that there keeping both logos instead of doing what other airlines do happy to be a mileage member of Alaska Airlines and I was happy when last year they announce that they were going to my mom’s country Guatemala happy to be a mileage member of Alaska Airlines, Airlines
I feel like this is what they did with Virgin America and then they absorbed it a couple years down the line. I don’t fly Hawaiian but for those that do, this ultimately means their only choice is Alaska. Don’t get me wrong, I am Alaska customer and appreciate a lot of what they offer, but I really miss Virgin America-it was a much better airline.
Hawaiian had to join Alaska because SOUTHWEST has a better price point, better luggage policy (2 bags free), no fee flight change (Alaska flight change is pricey) and has been a solid airline servicing Oahu and outer islands. I've watched Hawaiian put several airlines out of business (Aloha Air, Mahalo Air, etc) by pricing them into bankruptcy, only to turn around and gouge loyal customers once the competition is gone. Let the free market dictate the best price and service. That is what gives paying customers the option to choose what airline survives. Aloha to all.
Nope, Alaska NEVER promised Virgin America that they'd keep their branding. Here, they not only promised to keep the Hawaiian branding separate, they put it in writing with the DOT.
That's great! Two of the most accommodating and pleasant airlines to ride in this part of the world. Even better if you got rid of your Boeing Max planes. That would do so much to boost customer confidence. IMO.
I wonder how long it will be before we see Alaska/Hawaiian A330 or 787 service from Seattle to Europe or Asia? Seems like an obvious direction to go next.
I wonder how the lack of market competition will stifle ticket prices in the future? Also, will Alaska Airlines investigation of the blowout plug lead to a change in the bolt system? Or will the interior panels be easier to dismantal so the checking of the bolts comes easier for the ground crew? And will there be a visible signing off sheet made available to all passengers as to timing of the bolts being checked?
I used to fly Alaska all the time. Unfortunately, their first class became really not up to par with other airlines. I now fly Delta out of MCO. Or United depending on where I'm going. I have flown Hawaiian in the past and really liked it. I really hope this means that Hawaiian won't be downgrading. My brother recently flew Alaska out of Seattle and had a terrible return flight experience. So I guess it really hasn't changed.
So I have miles from an Alaska Airlines credit card, if I fly to Hawaii and want to fly Hawaiian Airlines can I use the miles on the Hawaiian Airlines website or do I go to Alaska Airlines website?
cool, good job Alaska Airlines, love the airline, my parents always have flied with you when they need to fly somewhere because of how reliable y'all are so thanks!!
If I'm being honest, I have mixed feelings. Allow me to explain. I'm upset because this is another stand-alone airline that we are losing. 10+ years ago we had more options and way cheaper airfare. Now with all these merging, it raises the prices, and less airlines to pick and choose from. Its a monopoly at this point. However, as a former worker for Alaska and an aviation enthusiast,I am really excited about Alaska having their first widebody aircraft. I hope they actually keep them instead of keeping only 737s. I was excited when they obtained Airbus because it was finally something new to work on, and to see within the Alaska fleet. Lastly, I'm excites for how the new livery will look. You can never get rid of my favorite Eskimo
Can't wait for you to PLEASE create a non-stop flight from Ontario Airport to Lihue, Kauai. Please consider making this happen. We're tired of having to drive to LAX (61 miles away from my Upland home) in order to get a direct flight to Lihue. Instead, you currently leave ONT (6 miles away from my Upland home) only to have the flight stop off in Phoenix before heading off to Lihue. This seems a waste of air-time for California passengers and extra fuel for the stop off. Now that the 2 Airlines are 1 this should be an easy issue to resolve. Thanks.
Fantastic. Some of my family's and my greatest air travel experiences have been on Alaska Airlines flights from Las Vegas to Seattle and back. Congratulations on what appears to be a successful merger!!
Please add flights from Ont or Long Beach to the islands. It's terrible having to fly on H.A. from LAX Bradley (International) terminal. Or at least lobby to get back to term.6. We just flew Alaska to Mex.from term 6 and it was a breeze .
Hawaiian Airlines currently flies out of @LGB (Long Beach Airport) to both Oahu and Maui (probably more but those are the 2 islands I know about), and I hope they continue to do so!
Hawaiian Airlines was founded on **January 30, 1929**, which makes the airline **95 years old** as of 2024. To be honest I’m more sad than happy for the merger, merging never goes good for the employees no matter what CEO’s and CFO’s say.
This makes me sad, I left Alaska because on 2 separate occasions I flew Alaska First class and on each flight when I hit the Service or Steward call button the Stew told me not to use that button, that it was for Emergencies Only! I could not believe it, 2different flights and the same Rederic from 2 lazy Stews who did not want to be bothered or do their job! I tore up my Alaska Miles card and Swore to Never Fly Alaska again. Guess I'll be looking for another way to get to Hawaii each year!
This makes me so sad... I am a 40 year FA with Alaska & still love my job & grateful for passengers who choose to fly us - you literally pay my bills... I am quick to respond to call lights & eager to serve your needs & desires on my flight!
This is terrific news, can't wait to hear what is coming next year as far as points are concerned. Now if they can only change the picture on the Alaska tail wing instead of that ugly person. A grizzly bear would even be better....
👍✌🤩thank you and it good Idea for your business; I should accept your mail to application the credit card, I will try to fly there that places I love them.
As a long time Hawaiian Airlines frequent flyer member, I'm not thrilled about this. Please add more nonstop flights on Hawaiian Airlines to the central part of the United States including DFW, with connections to Tulsa.
Hawaiian can't sustain with the competition that's both internationally and domestically. Not many home grown Hawaiian business can compete at the global level. I can only think about the Kona coffee, but everything else has been taken over.
Although got to admit it would have been cool to see Alaska Eskimo on an A330, maybe they will mix up paint schemes at some point if they are going under one operating certificate.
Dear Ben Minicucci: Please keep the route from LGB airport (Long Beach, CA) to the islands, that Hawaiian currently has in place. We all hate LAX, and would prefer to fly Alaska or Hawaiian over Southwest out of Long Beach to Hawaii any day! Please do not leave LGB. PLEASE.
RIP Hawaiian… I hope this doesn’t happen, but my gut says once the certificates merge, it won’t be long before Alaska either kills the Hawaiian brand all together (like they did with Virgin America), or the Spirit of Aloha will slowly be removed in favor of making Hawaiian a low cost carrier as well. Who knows, but I sure hope not…
@@sosaix3545 they have no obligation to keep the Hawaiian branding after the certificates are officially merged, which will be in roughly five years. They’ve said that they’ll keep it, but they also said that about Virgin America too. Keep in mind the licensing agreement with Richard Branson to keep the Virgin name didn’t expire until 2039. Regardless the reason, Alaska wanted out ASAP At the end of the day, they’re just another corporation who will say and do what’s convenient for them in the current moment. I hope that I’m wrong and that they’d care to preserve a quality product and the authentic Aloha Spirit, but I just don’t trust them
@@theonemouse The certificates will be merged in 12-18 months. The agreement in writing with the DOT lasts 6 years. After that time, yes, they're technically free to rebrand if they choose, but they'd be alienating the people of Hawaii, including local government leaders who advocated in favor of this acquisition. And let's not forget, Alaska and Hawaiian represent the proud native people of their namesake states - that's brand equity you cannot and will not throw away, ever. The names are staying. Also, there was never an agreement to keep the Virgin America name or branding, and Alaska wanted out of it because the Alaska brand was found to be stronger and more relatable by the consultants brought in to analyze both brands, AND the licensing fee to Branson was going up to 1% of combined annual revenues, which is insane.
Will Hawaiian Airlines now become part of One World? Will Hawaiian Airlines flights earn American loyalty points and will Hawaiian Airlines flights provide upgrades and other benefits to One World elite members?
Congratulations on the announcement of 1,400 layoffs. Breaking the pace set with the rug pull on Virgin America. Also congrats on 8% decline in EPS. I predict things will only get more dire since Alasska spent $1b to “earn” less than $300m in synergies. Truly groundbreaking 😂
change is inevitable I am afraid. It has been changing over the last few years. Still industry leading in my eyes, but I hope the new combined program will be closer to MVP than Hawaiian miles. that's one of the reasons besides call center customer service as to why I left Hawaiian behind and threw my loyalty under Alaska. Still it would be nice to fly to new zealand and earn all those extra miles towards status on an airline I truly want status with.
Just found out, a Hawaiian flight operated by Alaska, if you have status with Alaska they are not honoring your status yet at Hawaiian. Very disappointed. Kind of pissed actually.
Good News, but please actually keep the Hawaiian brand going, don’t be like when you guys bought Virgin America and made the brand disappear, another thing is please dont turn Hawaiian into an “Proudly All Boeing” airline and keep ordering more Airbus planes
Alaska sure took the joy out of Virgin America...I expect they will do the same to Hawaiian...Personal opinion, I guess, but I'd have to say Delta is more customer friendly than Alaska. On the plus side; it's great Hawaiian wasn't poached by United.

It seems like there are a bunch of false marketing comments pretending to be stoked for a merger that means nothing for them but higher prices.
Lol exactly either its bots or really dumb people haha
I just love the service, the accommodating and friendly flight attendants that Hawaiian Airlines offers. I am saddened by this merge😢
Hawaiian can't sustain with the competition that's both internationally and domestically. Not many home grown Hawaiian business can compete at the global level. I can only think about the Kona coffee, but everything else has been taken over.
good news is, they were all hired. Alaska is taking the entire unionized workforce.
@jayuup until it doesn't make business sense. They will eliminate groups that are redundant, that is upper management and IT.
@@jayuup so many reservations and helpdesk jobs go overseas
@@misterle7026covid and the Japanese market’s sluggish return… really was and still is hard on Hawaii and Hawaiian AL… 😢
Dear Mr Ben Minicucci,
I bet not be on a damn BOEING jet this Monday!!! Please get the AirBus fah a brotha✊🏾
Very exciting news!
BRAVO!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!
Although got to admit it would have been cool to see Alaska Eskimo on an A330, maybe they will mix up paint schemes at some point if they are going under one operating certificate.
Please have more organic food options.
When scrolling on iPhone, I thought the l in Alaska was a capital i, and I thought “HOW DOES AI WORK FOR PLANES?!”
PLEASE.
LGB has always been a money loser. With only one takeoff and one landing slot there, its days are numbered.
Who knows, but I sure hope not…
They never promised to keep the Virgin America brand. Here, they not only promised to keep the Hawaiian brand, they put it in writing with the DOT.
Regardless the reason, Alaska wanted out ASAP
At the end of the day, they’re just another corporation who will say and do what’s convenient for them in the current moment.
I hope this move offers more flights to Hawaii than sw airlines.
Will Hawaiian Airlines now become part of One World? Will Hawaiian Airlines flights earn American loyalty points and will Hawaiian Airlines flights provide upgrades and other benefits to One World elite members?
And just like that, ticket prices go up. Wayyyyyy up. Just watch. Competition reduced.
How is this even possible?
Hawaii is hot and Alaska is, well ... cold.
Never the planes shall meet?!?
How about not charging exorbitant amounts for 40-minute flights? Wow! What a concept!
Haha that’s true
Don’t hate the player, hate the game. Take off and landing are the majority of cost for fuel burn and maintenance. Long haul is cheap for a reason.
@@mikemcd It's not just the fuel cost but the ports. Port taxes are insane.
@@misterle7026 yes!
PLEAAASE keep the A330's and don't downgrade to 737's.
Sounds like this might lead to higher prices …
Congratulations on the announcement of 1,400 layoffs. Breaking the pace set with the rug pull on Virgin America.
Also congrats on 8% decline in EPS. I predict things will only get more dire since Alasska spent $1b to “earn” less than $300m in synergies.
Truly groundbreaking 😂
Wouldn't this make this more of a monopoly on flights? Since they're now merging?
The U.S. Department of Justice - whose job it is to determine what's a monopoly and what's not - said it isn't.
finally Hawaiian Airlines will hopefully get fixed after mismanagement of the company by prior leadership.
will both airlines be part of One World alliance?
Please don’t change the MVP program.
change is inevitable I am afraid. It has been changing over the last few years. Still industry leading in my eyes, but I hope the new combined program will be closer to MVP than Hawaiian miles. that's one of the reasons besides call center customer service as to why I left Hawaiian behind and threw my loyalty under Alaska. Still it would be nice to fly to new zealand and earn all those extra miles towards status on an airline I truly want status with.
here to see what the new name will be.....? Hilaska? Alaiian? WesternAir? Pacific Air?
Alaska Airlines. And then there will be Hawaiian Airlines, operated by Alaska Airlines. They're not changing the names.
Its so funny Alaska airline has all videos comments open except the pride video that comments was turned off wonder why 😂😂😂
s tier merger
Just found out, a Hawaiian flight operated by Alaska, if you have status with Alaska they are not honoring your status yet at Hawaiian. Very disappointed. Kind of pissed actually.
Oh, we are hoping in 2025 💙 More info to come!

Good News, but please actually keep the Hawaiian brand going, don’t be like when you guys bought Virgin America and made the brand disappear, another thing is please dont turn Hawaiian into an “Proudly All Boeing” airline and keep ordering more Airbus planes
SOUTH EAST ASIA SOUTH EAST ASIA SOUTH EAST ASIA
Alaska sure took the joy out of Virgin America...I expect they will do the same to Hawaiian...Personal opinion, I guess, but I'd have to say Delta is more customer friendly than Alaska. On the plus side; it's great Hawaiian wasn't poached by United.
