But in that match, Unai Emery put his son Lander on the bench - he didn't even have a contract, but I'm guessing he didn't need to be registered because of his age. I think it's a cool story, I DO think it is an achievment to play this well for so long so that your son comes into the same league while you are still one of the 10-15 best players. And what if Bronny turns out to be a viable NBA rotational player, sre you gonna then change your tune to "How many more Bronnys are out there, who have no dad to flex them into the league?". They then signed an old, mostly washed outfielder (Sr.) as a publicity stunt. The Mariners made a few similar signings in those days. Gaylord Perry, for example, was signed past his viability as a major-leaguer, just so he could achieve his 300th win and sell tickets. The Dorktown documentary about the Mariners covers a lot of this and it's absolutely fantastic, for anyone who hasn't seen it. It might be RUclips series, but it won legitimate documentary awards.

I understand what you mean, for sure. But I'm not as bothered as you are because I don''t really believe that sports are a "meritocracy". People rate players higher or lower than they deserve, give more attention to mediatic prospects. Like, sure, the starters and 6th men may be the best players in the world, but the bench warmers and most rotation players? For each one of them there is probably like 10 or 20 other people in the world who could have taken the spot, but they didn't because of luck.
Lebron puting the chances on his favor doesn't bother me as much. But I do understand your perspective.
And I would have agreed with the NBA being all the best players in the world 10 years ago, but I think now Real Madrid is better than at least the worst NBA team, and other euroleague teams are probably close to NBA level.

As a Tennessee alum I’m fine with bronny cause he’s taking all the pressure off Dalton Knecht, their real rookie sensation. He can quietly ball out while all the attention is on that father/son circus

    Bronny's statline from that game:
3 min, 0-2 FG (took 2 shots, missed both), 1 rebound, 0 assists, 1 flagrant foul (which tbh was probably a bad call)
Lebron's son had more flagrant fouls in his debut than he did points. Like Zealand said he is miles better than probably 99% of us in these comments, but he is no where near NBA level. Hell he wasn't even ready for college ball. He went to USC, a school notorious for admitting students of wealthy alum and donors when they shouldn't be admitted. And yes I know he had a heart condition that kept him out of his freshman year. But based on the year he did play, he shouldn't even be entering the draft. Everything about Bronny's whole career has been done to please his ego trip dad. And I feel bad for him

Kvaratskhelia benefited from nepotism in his early career, when he was 17 he moved to rustavi, which seems pretty normal, only the manager at the time was badri kvaratskhelia, his father, granted 18 appearances 3 goals, not bad for a 17yr old and look at what he has turned into.

As the person always making videos telling people complaining about things cool things to stop it bc its cool, its surprising to see you now on the other side of that. It's just cool man. Bron and Bronny got their magical, moment, and now they'll send him down to the G League so he can develop into a real NBA role player, which I do believe he can do btw. The man went into cardiac arrest less than a year ago, you dont just come back from that right away.

Normally agree with you but you got this wrong. His son was a McDonald’s all American meaning he was at least a marginal NBA prospect in high school. He basically dies and his first year of college losing that season. He was worth a 2nd round pick to be a G league/NBA twiner this year which is what he will be.

Luca Zidane had a horrible time as a goalkeeper a few years ago at Rayo Vallecano, he made a couple of howlers. After that, he played in the spanish second tier. He currently plays for Granada CF, a promotion contender.
Theo Zidane turned out to be worse than his brother and ended up in the spanish third tier at Córdoba CF, although they got promoted to the second tier last season.
Enzo Zidane is definitely the worst. He wandered through obscure teams, lower divisions and he retired at age 29 a month ago after spending 1 year without a club.
Not great players, but two of them at least good enough to play professional football, I guess.
As for the Simeone brothers, Giovanni has proven himself at Napoli so I think he's legit. Giuliano might be more of an unknown, I guess we won't know until he plays for another manager.

you should look into the Austin Rivers and Doc rivers situation. Doc was an old player turned coach and forced his son onto his team cause he was coach/gm and played him a lot when he didn't deserve it. Austin eventually became a decent role player in the league but was given unlimited chances cause his dad was his coach. If he was on any other team he probably would have been out of the league before he was good enough to be a role player.

I get where you are coming from and I agree in principle. It is nothing new for a team like the Lakers though. Or any team that had Lebron honestly. There is a reason why he is called LeGM and LeCoach.
The only excuse I can think of is 'Nba will use it for marketing alongside the Lakers' and even though each NBA team got like 15 roster spots, only 10 to 12 actually get playtime outside of injuries. So Bronny's spot is just another benchwarmer. And he will probably be sent to play at the G-league for a while after they got their moment in this.
I don't like it, especially for Bronny as this could hamper his development but also, it is quite a moment considering what happened with Bronny too with his heart issue and coming back and it speaks to Lebron's longevity too. And NBA always had that marketing side so it was not always a 'meritocracy' especially when it comes to the Lakers.
