@@strattuneryeah we’ve had patients that over few years didn’t wear a respirator come in and don’t last very long or get cancer just die in pain. That spray ain’t no joke
Just a tip/ friendly advise. Don’t spray half the panel. Spray the full panel and run the perimeter first. Spraying half and half you end up with a double layer of paint where you joined them. It’s also possible on some metallics and pearls to see it in the paint. You want a nice steady consistent flow across the whole panel. That way it’s all on the same coat and there’s no seam of paint overlap. You want it to flow perfectly with no breaks in the direction of the paint flow. Also a push and pull method works really well to help avoid orange peal and overspray. Start from one side of the car at the bottom and work your way up to the roof. Start from other side of roof and pull the paint down. That way it’s not letting overspray directly fall on fresh paint you just laid. Paint didn’t turn out too bad on the car though. Love the color!
While good advice not necessarily true! Ever heard or Blending? Happens everyday in every paint booth on the planet! Thanks for watching, It tends to work better to go from front to back because when you stop it can cause a build up where you start and stop. I like your idea on the roof. I personally would start spraying in the middle of the roof spraying from front wind sheild to rear and work your way twords the outside of the roof, then go to the other side and start in the middle where you've already sprayed then work your way out tword you. I painted it in pieces bolted and gap everything then wet sanded the jambs based the whole car and dusted the jambs again then cleared the whole thing so there are no tape lines any where. This is a home made paint booth, made from plywood and lights and a sealed squirrel cage fan for exhaust
did i hear you right 5 hours to sprayed your basecoat ? My technical data sheet states 15 to 20 min flash time between coats I would like to take longer I might do a better job
Awesome job!!! I see that you didn't jams first, is that just a preference or dempends on the job? I see some guys have the hood, doors and trunk off and painted off the car, is that just a preference as well? Where do you get the paint gun at?
Thank you!!! Alot depends on the type job. Most of the time I jamb it first then put it together which alows touch up. Then I wetsand the jambs and leave the doors shut while I spray color on the rest of the car then on the last coat of clear I open the jambs and spray the whole car with clear including the jambs and leave all the doors open till it drys. This leaves zero tape lines. Just for full custom jobs.I got the paint gun from @motivatedpainters on youtube.
I have a tangent thought, if you stuck a car on a rotisserie and had it rotate at the center of mass and then just painted the whole thing in one go; would this work? I've never painted a car before... But I plan on doing it at some point in the future and wanted to know if the thought I had would work or would it just be overly complicated and unnecessary.
Yes you could, we usually paint the underside of the body on the rotisserie, it makes it eaiser, if you look back in my channel you'll see a video of me raptor lining the bottom of this 68, its easy to put the body shell on the rotisserie but its a pain to do the whole car on there, but it can be done. I Usually paint the car apart but its challenging to put back together with out scratching stuff unless you have a bunch of people helping you. With the way I did on this video is alot of taping, but you dont have to put it together lol, hope this helps, thanks for watching!!!!
With the base coat clear coat system I use you dont have to sand between coats as long as your in the recoat window. Usually 15 to 20 minutes between coats. Thanks for watching!!!
What paint brand do you recommend ,my 68 Camaro sits in the garage most of the time ,its lemans blue ,what paint brand do you recommend for a 2 stage paint job ?
Thank you!!! Its all ppg, the base is ppg DBC and the clear is ppg dcu 2002, the color is I think passion pearl, its a mopar color. Thanks for watching!!¡
Thanks, I love that gun!!! The way I set mine up is , I turn the fan pattern knob all the way open unless I need to get into a tight place, as for the fluid aka the lower knob I back it all the way out, then squeeze the trigger all the way open" with no paint or air hooked up lol" then turn the fluid knob in till I feel it start pushing on the trigger I stop. As for air aroun 25 to 30 psi at the regulator on the gun, you can just play around with it to see what you like. Base coat , I have always used a trick my buddy taught me many years ago, paint till you get full coverage then do one more medium to light coat, which usually ends up being 3 coats of base. Clear coat, I usually do 3 to 4 heavy handed coats but I always cut and buff my stuff , cause I want it as slick as possible!!!! The first coat is usually a good medium wet coat then after tacking I like to drill it on lol. Hope this helps!!!!!!
Ive painted cars outside you just have more buffing to do, but it can be done. My first hotrod was painted on a open concrete pad and actually turned out pretty good. All a booth does is control the atmosphere.
Hi, I ordered that gun from Gabriel, I just wondered what nozzle you used for the base and clear? I think mine is coming with a 1.8 which is good for primer , the gun was affordable but if you had to buy all different nozzle sets it could get expensive. I appreciate your advice, thx.

Thanks man!!!!!
@ACDesignsGarage good shine on her to bro ❤️ 😍
What primer did you use
I think it was Omni mp 282 high build primer
Hello, we don't see you sanding between the layers of paint and varnish ???
With the base coat clear coat system I use you dont have to sand between coats as long as your in the recoat window. Usually 15 to 20 minutes between coats. Thanks for watching!!!
TOP !
What paint brand do you recommend ,my 68 Camaro sits in the garage most of the time ,its lemans blue ,what paint brand do you recommend for a 2 stage paint job ?
I really like ppg its pricey but there pretty good and there always gonna be around. I use dbc base coat and dcu 2002 high solids clear.
Ok thank you
looks awesome thanks for sharing ,what brand an type of paint an clear coat did you use ?
Thank you!!! Its all ppg, the base is ppg DBC and the clear is ppg dcu 2002, the color is I think passion pearl, its a mopar color. Thanks for watching!!¡
@@ACDesignsGarage thank you
So Cool
Thank you very much!!!
wow!
Thank you!!!!!
New to the channel I have some catching up to do killer video & I have a few questions .
Awesome thank you for the support, ask away, ill help if I can!!!
Nice job 👍. I have same gun from Gabriel with 1,2 tip. What settings do you use for base and clear? How many layers of clear you spray? Thank you .
What pearls are in the kolor?
There is a ton of pearl, its actually a factory mopar color, it came on the new challenger and ram trucks, called passion red pearl I think!!
What's the gun and part # I need a good base coat gun thanks
I bought it from motivated painters here on youtube if you want to message him, its a great gun!!!!
How to PAINT your Muscle Car (at HOME)1968 Camaro Show Car if you have a paint booth or a garage
Ive painted cars outside you just have more buffing to do, but it can be done. My first hotrod was painted on a open concrete pad and actually turned out pretty good. All a booth does is control the atmosphere.
My garage doesn’t have all that equipment,so it would be tough to do at my house
At My personal all i have is some lights and a fan, it works pretty good, im gonna do a video on my personal shop and the cars that i painted there.
Hi, I ordered that gun from Gabriel, I just wondered what nozzle you used for the base and clear? I think mine is coming with a 1.8 which is good for primer , the gun was affordable but if you had to buy all different nozzle sets it could get expensive. I appreciate your advice, thx.
I used a 1.3 for the base and clear on this 68 camaro, It worked pretty good I think.
Hey how much was that spray gun
Well it looks great somehow.
I've never seen anybody jump all over the place when spraying the paint.......
Hahaha theres more than 1 way to skin a cat. It probably comes from years of painting heavy equipment. I use to spray 50 gallons a week during auction time lol.
