Chris showed the world the very things Will prides himself on. DOING THE RIGHT THING WITH POISE, PERSEVERANCE AND RESPECT.
Just to name a couple. Chris can rest assured it's haunting to Wills ego. The Smiths, or diehard Smith fans, won't ever admit it but that will bother him in his heart for a while. I mean he built his whole career and brand on it. He definitely made an oopsie. A BIG DUMB ONE

Both Will and Chris taught us something that night. When something makes you angry, take a breath, and think, because actions have consequences and could potentially ruin your career or your reputation. When something humiliating happens, how you choose to respond can define you for a very long time. Chris won that night. I dont even get why Jada got so upset, not very many women can pull off a bald head and look good, and the GI Jane comparison was a actually a compliment, depending how you look at it. GI Jane succeeded in a man's world showing incredible strength. I guess perception is everything. Just my 2 c.

I think Will gave Chris a great gift. Because of Will's actions and the way Chris responded, his public popularity soared through the roof. Chris' poise and maturity in the way he handled it gave his public the most respect he ever had. All of his fans and fellow peers praised him. His tickets for his new tour also shot up and it was completely sold out immediately after the action. Will, on the other hand, ruined his own career, reputation and lost the respect and love held for decades by all his millions of fans. He may never come back. He may never get another script offer. He may suffer stiff financial repercussions (not that it would matter much since he's a multi-multi millionaire...it's not like he'll starve). Perhaps some of his fans will forgive, but none will ever forget.

Plus they had security ready to jump in. The rest is my opinion. Where they hell was the security? I saw no one! The Academy fucked up big time, not just the complete lack of foresight and security, but for not kicking Ill out immediately! The co-producer, who was far too hungry for ratings and a lying sob, said it was OK with Chris, and that “they”:wanted Will to stay. What Chris said is he didn’t want to press charges. The LAPD left it up to him. When they show up for a domestic, they have to arrest somebody. How is this different? They should’ve arrested him! It was on live TV, in front of millions of viewers for christ sake! Anyway, that was the ONLY thing Packer asked Chris. He said nothing about allowing him to stay! If I were Chris, I’d sue Will for $2 mil., the Academy, and Will Packer personally! But he won’t do that bc he’s a bigger and nicer person than I. Hell, I want to sue Will for triggering my childhood trauma! I had the same old nightmare and still can’t shake it. I hate Will for what he did and I will NEVER forgive him! I believe there are grounds for a class action suit against him for triggering thousands of people!

Everybody is talking about the slap and everyone will remember it. No one is talking about the fact that Will won best actor. It's almost like that part of the evening never happened. Chris is truly the winner here and will always be. The fact that it will always be a stain on Chris' life is reason enough to sue Will. He doesn't have to take the money. He can have Will donate it to a charity of Chris' choice.

Chris was hurt that night, physically and emotionally, by someone he's known for decades all because he made a lame joke, a tame joke. And for Will... He needs help. He needs strength. He is obviously suffering. I hope years later, Chris can forgive will. Not so he looks good or anything, but because harboring negativity towards others doesn't serve us. And that Will can forgive himself and find peace in himself.

Too much violence created in America and the world 😢 It’s obvious too that Will has a lot of anger in his life, maybe with his wife that he is holding back and it came out and slashed out at the Oscars for the world to witness. Disrespectful and no regard to the people around him and to Chris Rock because he feels he’s very privileged. A low life spectacle that happened. Loss of self-control moment when supposedly people look up to you. So sad what is happening in our society. 😢

I'm just wondering why we should still care. Chris Rock is a great comedian, and he seems sort of down to earth (no movie pun intended).....at least as down to earth as a celebrity is allowed to be.
Will Smith and Jada? Arrogance personified.
We have people literally dying in our own country and abroad at this very moment, by the thousands each day....and now we need to be concerned with this tripe.

I bet Chris Rock is a little heartbroken too. Having someone who you thought was your friend assault you in front of thousands of people and then screaming insults at you. Sounds like "someone", (Will), needs therapy. Jada has done drove him insane! Poor Chris just happened to be the one whom he took it out on. Maybe Will was picturing Jada's face as he swung on Chris. You could tell Chris was visibly shaken, but he went with it and joked about it. I really lost a LOT of respect for Will Smith, and gained a LOT more respect for Chris Rock.
