Leave your wife is the first step. She’s despicable
right. when he said my wife didn't have anything to do with this I LAUGHED out loud. like really, bro? She's the whole reason why he felt the need to answer all the critics from the past two years in one slap on Chris. She drug him and their marriage through the mud for views and dollars. And we saw a man we all thought had life figured out crumble before our eyes in the public view while his wife just looked at him like a dog. Unreal.
He will do that in his own time. Not our decision to make.
She belongs to the streets
His wife is poison.

Man destroyed his life's work over a joke everyone would have forgotten in just a few seconds..
The only way to repair this is to have a will smith roast with Chris rock on the roster
Yeah but he would have to listen to his wife for the rest of his life that he did nothing.
He didn't destroy his career.. he still making films
@@hellfire5108 I mean he could have talked to Chris after about his wife’s condition. Was the slap and yelling really necessary?

His career hasn't been perfect. Great actor and has many hits but he has misses too.
That’s not what happened here. Usually I can tell if it’s something like that, but this video is really genuine. We can’t really debate about that, because your perception is yours. But you’re kind of missing the humility in the video imo. I’m an actor and this isn’t “acting.” Actors don’t act. They improvise in real time with real emotion using their lines as guardrails. There’s no pretending in acting. Everything is as if it’s truly happening…just saying that here so no one accuses of him of acting during his apology.
@@austinneveau9387that's every actor, hits and misses. Will's film career is enviable by every measure. Too bad he destroyed his career with one slap.
The most despicable thing is that hundreds of people in that theatre gave him a standing ovation just a few minutes after it happened. And before the media and people “told” them how they were supposed to react. Just a bunch of hypocrites.

Apologize to Chris for slapping him, to all the winners and presenters who got the spotlight taken away from them, to the academy for not leaving the room and making the most awkward scene in tv history, and to all of us for dragging us yet again into your personal issues.
And what about the personal issues that we rope others into in our lives? Are you saying that Will is not human like us? If I were to hold a camera up to your daily life and televised your emotional rollercoaster of a life (we are all on one), would you have the same level of hostility towards yourself? Would you not be able to forgive yourself?
@@namanrawal5849 I agree with all of this, but again, why does all of this involve us when involving us was the problem in the first place?
@@luikanami I agree with everything you said. I’ve been a Chris fan all my life and the fact that Will slapped him in front of zillions of celebrities anticipating their awards made me so mad I can’t even begin to imagine anything good come out of Will in the future. Will should’ve talked to Chris privately and asked him not to poke fun at Jada or just simply ignored Chris for however long he wants, but no, Will just had to go onstage and smack Chris in front of an audience and yell and cuss out Chris, overshadowing any celebrities’ victories. What Will did was virtually inexcusable, unforgivable and downright embarrassing. Heck, I even agree with the Academy’s decision to ban Will from attending any Academy events for the next 10 years. Even after then, I don’t know if I can ever like or trust Will again.
Will should be getting an award for doing the right thing.
He did say he tried to reach out to him tbf.
He lost me when he apologized to his wife 😂
She's one of the reasons for the way he behaves. Nasty women controlling men are everywhere. A lot of men are unaware of them being manipulated. Its a major fact.
@@popeyepanther4519 That's the fault of the men being simps these days, emasculated men letting themselves being controlled. The roles have been reversed, men are becoming women and women are becoming men.
I thought the same thing even before I saw your comment. SMH.
Yeah, Jada Smith is a stupid women. She gets what she wants then does not know how to handle it, then picks at her husband in public, but Chris should not poke fun at her hair. There are no innocent people in this situation. God gives you what you ask for sometimes it's up to you to appreciate it. Carla.
Right...I was like ok I'am done🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
The reason he didn't apologise in his acceptance speech is because he was still under the impression that what he did was proper and heroic. The apology now is because it didn't turn out the way he'd hoped and there was a ton of backlash.
This is right on point.
Will became too arrogant, he deserves the fall.
Yes. Sometimes people need time to process what they've done to realize it was idiotic.
Agreed 💯💯💯
Usually, when we do something wrong we believe in the moment it is right. It is usually in reflection do we realize a thing done was wrong.
Here, Will, lemme help you out:
I won't ask Chris' forgiveness, because I don't deserve it. Maybe one day when I've forgiven myself I will ask it. I just want to say that I'm sorry. Not as an apology, but as me regretting my actions. There does come a time in a man's life when he must protect the ones he loves, but not from a comedian doing his trade. For those saying I've humiliated Chris I want to say: no, he took it like a champ and came up on top. In that situation he was the hero and I was the villain. I did not humiliate him, but I did manage to humiliate myself. I worked so hard, put so much effort into my acting for years and I feel like it's all been undone by 20 seconds of rage. All that intellect I had to put into my acting methods and I was overcome by such a base instinct as to hurt another human being by following a misguided sense of righteousness. This is not the example I want to show my kids. For all the people out there on my side over this situation, I like to think that in the past I have shown examples of being a role model, but this was not one of them. Follow me for whatever else, but not for this. Not for my lowest point. Thank you for listening.
That ought to have done it, Will. But to say stuff like this you have to genuinely be sorry.
Beautfully said

Calm down 😂😂😂
Bro talk to putin and stop the war. Apologize on behalf of Ukraine and the US.
You bring peace to the world with these kind of apologies.
Can you help me get my ex back?
His apology feels so tense with this almost underlying anger. He briefly apologized to Chris but then went on to apologize more in sincerity to others. But Chris is the one he punched. Will always seemed so wholesome and fun and smart to me. But now I see him as this scary person with a LOT of unsolved emotional issues. I’m sure he regrets what he did. But I’m guessing it’s mostly because it messed with his career. Hope you get real help, Will. This is a time to grow emotionally.
I found that part so weird. The one he hit and yelled at- he barely spent any time apologising to.
@@fearIsTakentbh Chris has said some stuff about Jada in the past. Especially during the 2016 Oscars in which he hosted. Plus he commented some weird stuff on Will IG when he wished his ex wife a happy birthday. So there’s definitely some history or something that’s been brewing before the slap.

Who said that the topic was to apologize to Chris? It was him bringing light to the public of his actions. Have you ever apologized to someone to a camera screen in front of thousands of people? How can you properly apologize to someone who isn't face to face. that's like judging an apology through a text message. Chris has yet to reach out or respond. Some can conclude that its childish of someone wanting to apologize but doesn't make an effort to hear his apology.

It takes a lifetime to build a reputation, but just a few seconds to destroy it. I always try to keep that in mind every day.
Chris rock acted with so much dignity and restraint. I have never been a fan of him, but that moment earned a lot of respect and he deserves the support from everyone. He was shamed Infront of the world and he held it together and acted with complete professionalism it speaks volumes about Chris's character.
With Will nobody expected him to act the way he did. I still can't believe it, he was the cocky but nice guy of Hollywood. This apology doesn't feel sincere, and it's very late. Despite that fact, I wouldn't want this to completely hamper his career he is a talented man.
Comics are writers. In short, talent. Actors on the other hand..
I also don't feel his apology. It doesn't really come from the heart. He should sort out his toxic relationship with his wife. Maybe he can gain our respect again.
I read that he went on a private therapy center . Probably he just got out
I personally thought the apology was sincere

Fixed his response for yall.
A "I apologize to you..." to Chris vs "Im sorry Babe..." to his wife. While both apologies, they sounded sooo different
After being a Will Smith fan for decades, I can honestly say that none of that felt real. The “Sorry Babe” was probably the only bit that felt real. He’s still under her control. Without question, Jada has got to go for him to really be himself again.

In my opinion, the only right move would've been to stand up before the end of the night, give a short apology with the promise of a statement the next day, and remove yourself from the Oscars that night out of common sense. He stole the prestige that he earned, from himself, by accepting the award without really talking about what happened.

He yelled at Kris “….KEEP MY WIFE’S NAME OUT OF YOUR MOUTH….”

He "apologised" to Chris and said "sorry" to his family and the very definition of saying "sorry" is heartfelt but the definition of saying "I apologise" is merely admitting wrong doing. He is distancing himself from saying sorry because it sticks in his throat.

He is apologizing more to the fans and the people of the award show than he has to Chris. I can hear more emotion and his voice when he apologized to Chris's mom and to his fans, but the actual apology to Chris felt so robotic and bullet point and him borderline down playing or dismissive of his own actions that I don't think he really means it at all and I understand Chris not wanting to reach out to him.

Well if he spends the entire video apologizing to him and him only the apology would just be repetitive. At least he did apologize and if he didn’t express his feelings in a way that you want him to convey them it does not give you the right to be harsh and throw backlash at him. He apologized to Chris, his mom, and the fans, and that’s that. No point in making a big deal out of it.
@@architcongo499 the fact that Will said so much in this video without really saying anything is what makes me feel like he is not truly sorry to Chris, but rather that he is only trying to protect his own image.
It's like when there is a police interrogation of a suspect and they go off on a tangent to make themselves feel better or convince themselves that they are not guilty. Will is essentially doing the same thing here in an attempt to come across as if he is really sorry, but all he is doing is exposing himself for who he really is.
If he was truly sorry then he could make due with a simple apology of a few words and be done with it, but he isn't able to do that because he feels guilty.
He should just sue him already
I agree. He’s focusing how it has hurt his career and let people down who looked up to him. I am aware that the questions are directing his focus but if this video is really about an apology to Chris because he has hurt him and his loved ones the most, he should just say forget about me and apologize to chris and his family. And that’s it.
Slapping someone isn’t that “complex” will. You’re like a tyrant king that couldn’t handle the court jester” the people never respect that kind of king.
This feels like more of asking for forgiveness to himself than an apology to Chris. "There is no part of me that thinks that is a way to behave" is just not a correct way to contextualize your actions. You, in fact, DID act that way and that is just a way of repressing your anger until it resurfaces again. Will is only saying that line because he felt guilt from the backlash he received after the fact, nothing more and nothing less.
Until he stops apologizing to Jada in the same breath and understand where that's where his anger stems from, it will all be hallow words and lip service.

When someone apologizes and gives a long speech it kinda makes the apology disingenuous
I am more than confident to affirm that this “apology speech“ was written by his boss, sorry, i meant wife.

One of the reasons I don’t believe this apology is that Will’s son reacted immediately on social media, in real time, with something to the effect that - This is how we Smiths get it done. If that’s what his son thought/thinks, then that was probably the ethos in the home.
So - the “There is no part of me…” part of apology rings hollow. If everyone had back slapped Will and thumbs upped him after the slap about the slap (not the Oscar) he’d be going along his merry way now. This is a big fat “I’m sorry ‘cause I got caught” moment.

As a man, it definitely matters what woman you choose to marry
Well that Fog he talks of, lasted all the way through an Afterparty. He only regrets the consequences to his career. I’m just not buying it.
Your star actor loses favour in the public eye, then studios & production companies see less profit. Eventually his pricetag goes down. It takes time for the consequences to become apparent. The same will be for any endorsements he puts his name to. The less people that like him, the less profit companies and studios will make. That is the the eventual consequences. I think most people could use a good slap at least at one point in their life!
Get over it. Everyone makes mistake he did not kill he just gave him a slap of reality lol
No he didnt
Lol who slaps like that though?
His a good guy, his in a bad environment.
when he said "it's apologisin' time" i felt that
Guys get over it. He apologized
my mother once told me "When someone bullies you, you have three options, Be worst then them, Be the same as them or be better then them. The world is not about you and your feelings Will, You do not get to decide what is right and wrong here."
Your mother gave you bad advice, depending on the details of the situation, it's often better to fight back a bully. We all make judgements on what we think is right and wrong....you just made a judgement on Will and implied what he did was wrong....You sound confused.
It’s called standing up to urself, and this doesn’t work here because chris was not even bullying, it was a light joke that he also laughed along wit until he saw jada face, will was jst emotional and took actions based on emotion.
Except Will Smith wasn’t being bullied, neither was G.I. Jane Smith. Chris Rock was doing comedy.
@@brownr749 lol no, My name is also Will. You miss read.
💯 💯 💯
The way he's messing up words I wonder if he was drinking before this
The time to apologize would've been during the acceptance speech when he could've said it directly to Chris' face or at least the following day. He was so smug about it instead...and Chris doesn't have to take your calls, he can do so at his leisure as you did with this apology.
so true not wait this long and I bet Jada put him up to this he knows he has lost alot where nobody even wants to work with him or talk to him. He allowed his wife to cause him to lose all he did have to be a loser like her. He looks crazy on this interview you can tell something is wrong with him mentally. As for Chris I wouldn't have nothing to say to him at all.
"I'm here when you're ready to talk" sounds like "Chris, when you're ready let's talk about your mistakes."
That bull crap apology wasn't heartfelt. If he was serious about apologizing, he would come back out on that stage that night and apologize.
This man has everything in the world except peace.
Until he finds the courage to leave his boss jada
He let Jada punk him chicken willy
u got no friends
I hope he finds peace because jada just brings drama

I grew up on Will Smith and I have to say I lost all respect for him after the incident. Chris Rock is harmless and Will Smith took advantage of that. In the End we all make mistakes and I know Will is learning from probably the biggest mistake he has ever made in his life but without mistakes we do not learn anything. Utmost respect to Chris Rock for keeping his composure and handling everything like a true gentleman.
I lost respect for Chris Rock when he made that anti-Black film "Bad Hair". It was an anti- Black woman flick. No problem. I will simply never support anyone who is cannibalistic. He probably earned that slap.
so you never slapped or fought anyone? ever in your life? or got angry? you’ve been perfect all your life? that’s amazing
No, Will's biggest mistake was marrying and staying faithful to his ex after she was discovered cheating.
Everything after that is a symptom of that bad choice
@@jblank1862 Umm, you know black women were supporting that film right?
HARMLESS?
Will Smith put up once of his acts again. Fake apology, and the worst part is apologizing publicly about your wife. I had great respect for this man but after what he did to Chris he has lost my respect no wonder why his wife cheated on him.
How could such a convincing actor give such an unconvincing apology??
This looks very staged and insincere imo. You can even tell by the way Will is reading off the questions that this is something his team pressed for him to do to save his public perception.
If he was truly remorseful for what he did he would have apologized to Chris after accepting his Oscar. Since he didn’t do that, he should have at least had a serious interview VERY SOON after the incident with some journalist where he’d be asked challenging questions about it. He could have used that hypothetical moment to apologize.
Instead, he had his publicist write an apology for him to post on Instagram, and then waited a few months to release a staged “apology” video like this.
That Oscar slap really exposed a lot of Will Smith’s true colors he was able to hide from the public eye for so many years.
Best comment
I will only add that based based on Will’s behavior, there is NO WAY he would have even tried to apologize had the public been with him.
This is 100% Will trying to restore his image but - to me - he is just making it worse
Do you actually care that much just curious
@@prod.vulgar3541 ikr ppl are weird
It’s not that simple. When all eyes are on you it’s difficult to find the right thing to do. In the moment he probably felt that apologizing would be admitting he did something wrong. And being a huge influence in society, that can be scary. It can mean losing everything.
This apology was long overdue. I think the damage he's done is permanent. It's amazing how you can build a resume like he has and destroy it all in one night over a joke you were laughing at.
OJ SIMPSON
Time heals, he will be back.
People have done worse in Hollywood. I don't think people won't get over it. Maybe his friendship with Chris Rock, but I don't think his career is over. I still want to see his movies. 🤷🏾♂️
Man that’s will smith that man a legend I don’t agree with what happened but regardless he been made his mark on this world apology forgiven
Its not permanent. You've never argued or maybe fought a friend? A sibling? It takes time to heal and it can be a lot of time. Chris Brown beat Rihanna. She and the rest of the world forgave him. Hurt People, Hurt People.
This is an insincere apology.
How do you defend a woman like that, shes insufferable bro
Will Smith coming on camera to apologize, then expressing how much the slap hurt HIMSELF is very telling.
Telling in that he owns his own bs? No one wants to feel bad about their own bad behavior in perpetuity. If that's the case then I myself and millions of other people are doomed....
@@growforfood2862 We are all doomed.
@@MarkGraves5 believe what you want.
@@MarkGraves5 there are many famous people who did far worse than him and never took responsibility for their actions and got a slap on the wrist. That goes to show how demonic the entertainment world and the fans are. If you're going after Will then go after everybody who did dirt.
@@JW-fm8or the apology is clearly what is wrong. Will should have owned his actions and not apologized.
I can literally see the PR director‘s instructions floating all over this video…
Well shot. Well produced. Well edited. Well writen.
Really well done.
And therefore really inauthentic.
When an apology video is well (or in some cases too well) put together, it does call into question the authenticity of the apology itself.
I was thinking the exact same thing. When a video like this is heavily edited, it makes you question the sincerity of what’s being said.
What a lovely little studio set up they have here in their ivory tower
😂😂😂
But, thanks anyway.
He only sorry because his career got jeopardized because of one slap. he did that on purpose. He deserves to be locked up.
I wish Will Smith had the strength to never do such a horrible thing on such a big stage... I just feel quite bad to see him in such a difficult stance. He used to be kind of my role model.
If I showed this to a person who never heard of Will Smith they would never believe me that he was a really good actor. I don't think I've ever seen a worse apology video. This is like what happens when you make a child apologize for something he clearly doesn't feel sorry for.
Spot on!!! He’s not sincere. This is damage control.
You should probably watch Travis Scott's apology video or something
@@that_dude_tk7327 the Travis Scott apology happened just a day after the event. He was clearly distraught and was still trying to processes what had just happened. Will Smith had months to process his actions and is coming at this from a different place. IMO both apologies are sincere.
actors tend to come off that way when they are being themself and real ... if it were more smoother well spoken and thought out id think he was acting but def seem sincere to me
If he doesn't feel sorry then he shouldn't apologize or be forced to simple as that.
And honestly people should just let it go because no one really cares(apart from his haters of course) anymore not even Chris
cares y'all should stop making this a big deal.
Got to give it to him to be advertising his own water brand during this "heartfelt' apology..... Legend
It worked for me,I ordered 50 bottles.
Lol
Lol
At no point could you see it properly. I had no idea
I agree with you 💯👍👌👏🙌🙂
I've lost all respect for Will Smith and I don't care to see any more of his movies. He can't explain this one away.
This is months later, but unpopular take;
Will was blinded by anger, as he said in the beginning it was all fuzzy. I do believe he shouldn't have handled that in THAT moment in that way, but he was blinded by the rage. I've seen people get blinded by rage before, and its scary. They don't even realize the aftereffects at that moment, they just feel like they need to do something.
(But I will say this apology seems kind of scripted tho)
I don't understand why Will had to apologize to Jada. She was clearly happy when Will slapped Chris, there's tons of videos of her smiling/smirking right after the slap happened. Is he just apologizing after the fact because it makes both of them look bad? I may be wrong, but this apology feels more like one based in vanity/ego rather than heartfelt regret for the harm his actions caused.
After the slap everyone laughed. They thought it was part of the script until Will started cussing at Chris to keep his wife's name out his mouth. Soon thereafter Will received an Oscar and a standing ovation from most everyone in the audience. People will behave weirdly in these types of situation to be politically correct and maintain a level of class. After, everyone was speaking out saying they didn't understand what was going on and they were surprised. Everyone had late reactions not just Jada and Will. And everyone was trying to process while still going thru the motions.
Everyone seemed "happy" Will slapped Chris if that's how we're looking at it.
Duh
Because she ordered him to.
As humans, in the heat of the moment we can react with our egos, it is emotionally immature but it doesn't mean that the reaction in that moment is going to be our conclusive opinion on the situation. Sometimes people realize what they really think only after an event has taken place and they are not reacting to it emotionally.
In the 5 months since this has happened more than one comedian has had someone rush the stage and try to attack them. His apology means nothing when his actions have endangered every stand up comic
Well said SKIP👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
do you think Will was the first person to ever attack someone on stage? what have all these performers been paying all of this money for security for?? Will put no one in danger other than his career and Chris Rock.
@@thirdcoasthustle muppet
His apology does mean something. He is acknowledging that he did something wrong, and that he hurt a lot of people, and that he is hurting because he hurt all of those people. That means something. We are all human. We all do some f'ed up stuff. He will be a better person at the end of this. THAT accounts for something.
@@dcoleman4444 Very true.
I agree with Chris Rock that this doesn’t seem like a genuine apology. I think the Smith family was desperately trying to move past everything to quickly because they were embarrassed and were afraid their image would be more and more affected the longer things weren’t patched up. In time I think a proper apology could have been made but I think they felt strapped for time in order to salvage their public image and whatnot that this video was put out when it was. I remember Jada was talking about them wanting to heal and essentially move on, etc. I can see how Chris Rock would see this video apology as a Hostage Video and not accept his apology. The expressions on Will’s face as he does the video doesn’t strike me as sincere and that he just wants things to be ok and move past things.
"I wanna apologise...."
Ok .. let's hear it..
