The editing, the intro, the costume, I love it all! Also I'll keep reminding you that Crooked house is without a doubt THE book for you to solve, it's completely unhinged.
Please do another video once you've seen the film. I swear Kenneth Branagh just drove very quickly past a bookshop with Hallowe'en party in the window and made the film from that 😅
I hope your Slagatha series continues, I've enjoyed these so much! I recommend Sleeping Murder, A Murder is Announced, Cards on the Table,Dumb Witness and Crooked House!
I've never seen a RUclips video like this where a reader takes the audience through a book. It was entertaining. I've read all of Agatha Christie's novels, so this was right up my alley. BTW, I had never heard of the game snapdragon before reading this book.
Slagatha is back at it again !! Love these little Agatha Christie mystery solving videos, they’re always so fun !! Love hearing the process you go through to get to the final conclusion ! Was glad to see you were able to solve it this time !! Last time had me laughing so hard during the reveal when you were shaking the book 😂 awesome work as always !
When I saw this, I screamed because I love the return of Slagatha Christie with the ICONIC costume. Also, I have my copy of ‘Halloween Party’ which I was supposed to finish many times but never seem to lol
Like I said before - this book is not one of the Christie's best, but there are worse. btw. I think your next Agatha Christie should be either Five Little Pigs or Mrs. McGinty’s Dead. Books to avoid (there's nothing to solve and/or they're spy thrillers and/or they're bad): The Big Four, They Came to Baghdad, Destination Unknown, The Clocks, At Bertram’s Hotel, Endless Night, By the Pricking of My Thumbs, Passenger to Frankfurt, Postern of Fate
Great work! Though as others have pointed out, Halloween Party isn't one of Christie's strongest (she was nearly 80 when the book came out, & it shows). Without going into spoiler territory, the books she wrote in the 1930s-40s period are generally solid, and the Poirot ones probably match your whodunit format best -- they usually have more obvious "denouement scene coming up, all clues have been laid out, final call for solution submission" vibes to them, because Poirot is a drama queen. :)
I try to be kind when I read this book since Agatha Christie was 79 when she wrote it and she was experiencing some mental decline but some parts are so repetitive and cartoonish
I actually DNF'd this book, partly because of everyone's horrible attitude about the death of a child. It was like "Oh, she was obnoxious, no wonder someone murdered her." I'm very glad "being annoying" isn't a legit defense! 😂
OMG I am so excited for thiiiiiiis... even though I hated Hallowe'en Party 👀 Can't wait to hear what you think, I'm going to save this one for a cosy spooky evening 👻
I hated Hallowe'en Party too! They lean too hard on young juvenile boys, on purpose, because at the time Agatha wrote the book they were a "problem." I'm sure this book was a hit then, but it did not age nicely at all.
Oooh awesome!!! Went to watch the adaptation a few weeks ago and immediately after I left the cinema I scrolled through your channel to check if you had already done this book 😂 really nice surprise to get the notification for this now 😍
This is why it’s so frustrating for me to read murder mysteries, and christie in particular, I’m either wrong about who the killer is, and then I’m frustrated, or I clock them from the very beginning, and then I’m doubly frustrated.
You should do _The Pale Horse,_ but if you do that, do _Cards on the Table_ first. (Ariadne is in both of these, but there are also some other characters who recur.)
slagatha is back !!! these days ive fell down a rabbit hole of ytubers solving agatha christie books and i really like you the most. (not really to compare or anything....but i am comparinng) you lay out the facts and points very well. like for some others they do those read alongs but they rlly dont say (?) enough facts that could make u guess. but u!!! it's so detailed that i can actually catch up and even guess who the killers is by just the facts u give!!!!! i really enjoyed this one (and all your other vids)! happy early halloween!!! stay slaying slagatha!
This trailer - as always - is magnificent! And the video does keep the promise of the trailer as well: it's amazing! Thank you and congrats on another great Slagatha Outing!
This is the first Agatha that I called almost immediately. I've read probably 15 or 20 of her books? And I agree with you, it did not feel as triumphant as I thought. A little bit too easy in my opinion. Also your costume was amazing as usual!!
this was my first solve-a-long and i had so much fun! i loved getting to hear all the different theories and which details everyone picked up on! petition for gav and lexi to have their own netflix show solving crimes hehe
Your Slagatha Christie vs Agatha Christie gives me life I love you trying to solve her books. May I suggest a Marple that is my favorite A Murder is Announced
Slagatha is fantastic🕵️♀️ Love seeing your thought process and deductions throughout! I wasn’t able to re-read this in time for the live but I finished it today and came straight here👀 A Haunting in Venice is completely different from the plot of this book! It starts off with a Halloween Party but then completely moves on in a different direction!
you should absolutely try to solve "the decagon house of murders" by Yukito Ayatsuji. Just read it and loved it ! I also learned that in Japan there's a lot of authors writing mysteries inspired by the golden age of mystery.
I’m currently going through the Hercule Poirot series, and so far I haven’t been able to solve a single one. I need to get into my own Slagatha form, because this is unacceptable😂 I’m cheering for you on this one, currently watching it so we’ll see 😂❤
so unbelievably excited for this! because before the went to see the film i read the book and tried to solve it. i'll be surprised if you don't to be honest, atleast in my opinion its' painfully obvious. but also how big is the text in that book? my copy is only 187 pages, and it's "pocket sized". edit: i just realized how mean my comment might sound if you don't solve it...which is not how i mean it at all. you've absolutely solved books that i didn't. the beauty of watching so many people solve a novel is getting to see how different people's brains work, and what clues they pick out ect. okay back to watching the video now
Fun Fact: I have the graphic novel version of ‘Halloween Party’ which is just (chef’s kiss) P.S. You have seen them in the ‘Seeing Subscriber Bookshelves’ video.
i waited until i finished the book to watch this video; overall i thought the book was so boring. i almost dnf'ed it because nothing happened until the end. definitely one of my least favorite christie books.
While I kept spacing out for half the book (it was terribly repetitive) I still guessed the murderers cause it was so bloody obvious. I am quite disappointed in the book(
I listened to some of it on audiobook, and I sincerely hope you have a better experience with it than I did. I don't know if it was the story or the narrator, or both, but I was ready to punch someone by the time the dead body was mentioned.
Great night was had by all... I got it half right, you did wonderfully Gav. I vote for another Solve-along soon on Patreon... thanks for a eventful night Gav and Lexi..✨✨✨✨ ❤❤
I'm not really surprised that affairs keep factoring into her books. Her husband cheated on her. Now if I can just solve the mystery of where tf I put my one good pair of headphones.
I literally can't read a word that Agatha Christie has written because she was such a blatant racist and was extremely antisemetic (non hyphenated per IHRA standards), but watching your videos is as close as I'll get to even knowing what her books are about, and it is so much fun to see you read and guess. My daughter and I make a snack and put you on the big screen. You are one of the only BookTubers that I watch who puts THIS much effort into your videos, and of course there's space for every type of entertainment, I just wanted to let you know that it doesn't go unrecognized. It's astounding. 😊 LOVED you as SlaGlenda 😂
As someone who is renting her apartment because I needed to study a while elsewhere, please care about your landlords. It’s so stressful when you try to do your best and someone just doesn’t care at all
Gavin makes me want to buy more Agatha Christie books just to keep up with his Slagatha Vlogs 🤭
Do it 👀
He's the only reason I read them and it's so much fun to solve along!
The editing, the intro, the costume, I love it all! Also I'll keep reminding you that Crooked house is without a doubt THE book for you to solve, it's completely unhinged.
I NEED to get to that one, it's been recommended lots and I have it, so keep an eye out 👀
Please do another video once you've seen the film. I swear Kenneth Branagh just drove very quickly past a bookshop with Hallowe'en party in the window and made the film from that 😅
Yes. My friend liked it.
*i’m just waiting for the day you get so drunk that you accidentally destroy all your clues, making you read the book over again* 😂
I hope your Slagatha series continues, I've enjoyed these so much! I recommend Sleeping Murder, A Murder is Announced, Cards on the Table,Dumb Witness and Crooked House!
Throughly enjoyed this series, I hope you return to it.
I can't believe you got the Ackroud killer!
I've never seen a RUclips video like this where a reader takes the audience through a book. It was entertaining. I've read all of Agatha Christie's novels, so this was right up my alley. BTW, I had never heard of the game snapdragon before reading this book.

Idk why but your nine vlogs of Halloween make me go feral... shame I missed this liveshow but this video is just so brilliant
I’m a bit disappointed that the mailman didn’t ring again while you were wearing the pink number 😂
Loved it. I don’t need to read the book. It’s more entertaining to watch you read it tbh ha
I try to be kind when I read this book since Agatha Christie was 79 when she wrote it and she was experiencing some mental decline but some parts are so repetitive and cartoonish

Gavin you’re tiny spark of light in my very dark existence. Must be protected at all cost. You’re one of my top top comfort channels. ❤😊
Oooh awesome!!! Went to watch the adaptation a few weeks ago and immediately after I left the cinema I scrolled through your channel to check if you had already done this book 😂 really nice surprise to get the notification for this now 😍
The best way to spend a Sunday!! Watching a Gav mystery solving video 🥰💗
Ayy hope you enjoy this 🥰
This is why it’s so frustrating for me to read murder mysteries, and christie in particular, I’m either wrong about who the killer is, and then I’m frustrated, or I clock them from the very beginning, and then I’m doubly frustrated.
i still can’t believe you guys got the Narcissus reference. my tiny pea brain was blown.
Can you please try Cain's Jawbone? I've been obsessed with watching people try to solve this mystery❤
Are you going to do more of these?
+ I feel really chuffed that I managed to upload an agatha christie video at the same time as my favourite booktuber did, the vibes are emaculate
So good as always 😍. I definitely recommend Endless Night for a solvealong. That is one of my favourite Agatha books.
You should do _The Pale Horse,_ but if you do that, do _Cards on the Table_ first. (Ariadne is in both of these, but there are also some other characters who recur.)
I saw this updated and got super excited!! This vlogs for Halloween are bringing me back to life 😂🎉

Ooh sweet another mystery vlog! I really do enjoy these! 🙂❤📚
Great video Gav! Unfortunately I couldn’t join with you all this time but I still read the book, this was a hard one to solve ❤️
this was my first solve-a-long and i had so much fun! i loved getting to hear all the different theories and which details everyone picked up on!
petition for gav and lexi to have their own netflix show solving crimes hehe
Your Slagatha Christie vs Agatha Christie gives me life I love you trying to solve her books. May I suggest a Marple that is my favorite A Murder is Announced
Lexi freaking out about your theories being right during the reading sprint was so funny
It is never too early for wine.
Slagatha is fantastic🕵️♀️ Love seeing your thought process and deductions throughout! I wasn’t able to re-read this in time for the live but I finished it today and came straight here👀
A Haunting in Venice is completely different from the plot of this book! It starts off with a Halloween Party but then completely moves on in a different direction!
Joyce Reynolds, not related to Ryan 😂😂😂

try having some wine apparently 😂
Ahah apparently, I have one lying about so might need to😂
The live with Lexi was so fun, and I love how this video turned out. Good job, Gav! (I mean Slagatha. 😂)
I just finished The Seven Dials Mystery - and I wasn't right! I don't know if that one's on your radar, but I think it should be.
I love these videos so much Gavin! You are hilarious and I can’t help but love Slagatha Christie ❤️😌
Gavin, I love this series that you do.
I love the commitment 😂
I just started watching! I love Halloween content!
I went into this expecting to know what this mystery was about as I watched Haunting in Venice.... yea sooo different 😅
I cannot wait to watch this when I get back home!!
Lol when I saw the Halloween party scheduled I legit thought it was like a online book Halloween party… I’m a bit sad now lol
How? Honestly, how did you do that? I just finished the book today and I was miles away from the right solution.😂
Let the PARTY begin!!!📚🎃🥳🎃🕷🕸🦉🎉
Gavin always gives ❤❤❤

okay back to watching the video now
Gavin you put out the best content and that live show was so much fun. I love you and Lexi together ❤ can't wait to see you in this outfit again lol
Waited until I finished the book to watch this. I was completely clueless while reading, but watching this vlog I feel like I shouldn’t have been 😅
Ahh, you did so well!! Let's solve Miss Marple next
Fun Fact: I have the graphic novel version of ‘Halloween Party’ which is just (chef’s kiss)
P.S. You have seen them in the ‘Seeing Subscriber Bookshelves’ video.
These solve-alongs are so fun!! It was Slagatha for the win! Cant wait for the next book, we just got to be stocked on the Jammy Roo.
🎃🔍🕵🕵♀🍎🍷
Read this 2 weeks ago! It's so gooood
That editing though!
I did watch the film first and loved it ngl! But did just finish the book and it was okay
Favourite series 🤩
Where was slaglinda's wand?
love these videos
started reading this one after watching the movie, I'm in a slump but I'm sure this will take me out of it 🤗
Hated the book, love the edition you have, though!
I LOVE YOU GAVIN YOUR THE BEST I LOVE THESE VIDEOS HOPE YOU DO MORE I LOVE SOLVING CRIMES TO 😊
i waited until i finished the book to watch this video; overall i thought the book was so boring. i almost dnf'ed it because nothing happened until the end. definitely one of my least favorite christie books.
Ariadne Oliver is a self-parody of Agatha Christie.
While I kept spacing out for half the book (it was terribly repetitive) I still guessed the murderers cause it was so bloody obvious. I am quite disappointed in the book(
lol I love these videos!
I figured it out
I listened to some of it on audiobook, and I sincerely hope you have a better experience with it than I did.
I don't know if it was the story or the narrator, or both, but I was ready to punch someone by the time the dead body was mentioned.
The Intros are just always iconic 👏🏽
