Same tho
Because he’s white and rich. Sounds reasonable.
If a mob killed him I think it’s interesting he states that he’s “going swimming”- I think that could be a hint he was trying to make, if he knew he was going to be murdered. After all. There’s that mob term going swimming with the fishies
Huh, that's an interesting theory
Could be a mob thing, since he *was* quite rich too, although I don't see why he'd just accept his death if he had the money, he could've just hired someone for security
I was thinking that too. Maybe he knew he was in trouble with the Mob and told his housekeeper that he was "going swimming" as a sort-of clue as to what was going to happen to him if he didn't take that money and get out of town. But I'm guessing the Mob caught up to him since the money was left behind.
I find it ironic that he was buried under an aquarium in that case.

She sent the Chauffeur to check in on him as soon as and the maid said he’d be coming back soon. He was stepping out on her a lot. She could of just thought he was with a mistress and that’s why he didn’t get back to her.

It's always the maid
You guys are so amazing. Major understatement but thank you both so much.
I don’t really like ASMR but the way Ryan is saying “crater” is sorta making me understand why people do
For the postmortem: Withdrawing a large amount of money before going to see a Broadway “ticket broker” with a “show girl” for a show you’ve “seen before”? The man was gambling big time. He probably bought that apartment for his wife with a windfall of money he got on a big win. The calls he was angry about? Debts he had to pay cause he lots big and had to pay back. Hence the big cash out. But he didn’t have enough and got to see the bottom of the Hudson for the trouble.
Interesting
That’s a fantastic theory and I’m surprised it wasn’t really mentioned at all
Hmm interesting 🤔
That’s great, smart!
@Nicholas Ramey 1. The show just opened the day before and he'd already gone to see it. Yes people go to see the same show twice, but it is a little suspicious to be going to see it multiple times over in that time span that it merited commenting on. 2. Hey, business associates are often involved in shady deals together. Could have shared the show girl amongst other things. Or the show girl could have shared them--I'm all about equality here. She might have been the one they owed money to. 3. The money is the suspicious thing here. Since he never returned HOME after his night out on the town, this means he never took it out or he had some other stash in his NY apartment. How many other secret pockets of money is this man hiding from his wife? Is he involved in gambling or money laundering? Guess this will remain unsolved.

Post-mortem: “I’m going swimming” from a man who didn’t like swimming and was a judge during the heyday of mob work. She was dismissed by him when he wanted to go for "a swim", but didn't she return the next day or whatever and notice Crater just wasn't there?
Edit: my bad, I forgot that the wife sent a chauffeur. Still, seems weird that a missing persons case is announced so late to the public, when every moment counts. Also, I'm still sus of the maid.
But the wife was suspicious, which is why she sent the chauffeur to New York.

The wife sent their chauffeur when he didn't come on her birthday. It was only a month later that they went public with the case
