The twist for The Murder of Roger Ackroyd was surprising when it was written for 2 reasons, first of, no one back then really used the unreliable narrator trope as much as it’s used today. Second, since Sheppard was helping Poirot in the investigation, more or less, people would have been less suspicious of him, it would be like reading a Holmes novel where the killer is revealed to be Watson
Thank you for the recommendation, going to see if I can find it on streaming and give it a watch, I am so interested in seeing more adaptations now, but only of the books I've read, I want to see if I can solve more Christie cases first hehe
Suchet was the best! I thought the Suchet version of Death on the Nile was WAY better than the Peter Ustinov version from the 80s. And I don't think I even wanna see the new version after the way they butchered the recent Murder on the Orient Express movie with Kenneth Branagh and Johnny Depp.
@@camillafladberg673 Some of the new adaptations are so outrageous. I get the idea of updating some aspects of Christie's novels and trying to draw in new readers, but so many of the recent adaptations are horrible (like The Pale Horse with Rufus Sewell!). However, I did like the recent-ish adaptation of And Then There Were None with Aidan Turner and Charles Dance. It was a fresh, modern retelling that stayed true to the original storyline and tone.

@@nicoledorman8484 well, it was the 80s, so we didn't have internet and our parents wouldn't pay for cable tv, haha. @@lex6819 me and my best friend would do the same. She was the one who introduced me to And then there were none way back in 1985 when we were in 5th grade. We had so much fun!
It's impressive that you guess Roger Ackroyd! But wondering WHY you guessed it, it's because it's an almost 100 years old book. We can guess her twists now because she was a trendsetter, and we've consumed media that has been inspired by her, but in 1926 it was a different deal.

Omg did Kim get footage of you playing Vera because I NEED to see you in this role! Also it's the way I could guess who it was but never how they did it, I would be a great little sidekick for Poirot should he ever have needed me ❤
I’ve actually read all these. But I am not the genius you are and saw none of the clues and guessed none of them correctly. I love Christie’s books. Hoping to get through them all one day
Spend some time with just one of her books. Once you figure out the clues, the others will just fall in place. She always plays fair and she always tell you who the culprit is.
Since you loved "And Then There Were None," I would HIGHLY recommend the 2015 BBC miniseries. It is so good! Probably my favorite Christie adaptation. 🕵️♀️
Oh I would definitely recommend Crooked house which is a standalone novel. Mara from Bookslikewhoa has read all Christie novels and has several excellent non spoiler videos about them if you need more information about Marple, Poirot or something else she wrote. Also the series with David Suchet is a must watch and is very Midsommer murdery set in the 1920-1950. He is the perfect Poirot. The older movies are also good.
Ahhh I own Crooked House - I was gifted it last year and now I'm so excited to read it. I'll have to do a part 2 of this to see if I can crack the cases of more Christie novels! And I watched Mara's complete ranking of Christie novels today to see which ones she put low and high, and it was so interesting. Can't wait to read more Christie 🥰
Those are good videos from Mara. There's also a long-running podcast called 'All About Agatha' where the hosts are reading and ranking every Christie novel. They're also reading all the short story collections, but they're not ranking those. One of the co-hosts sadly died in December, but the other co-host is pressing on. He's down to the final 3 or 4 novels. It's very good.
You're scary good at guessing the twists in these books 🤯 Another one of Christie's books that I think has a really good twist is The Pale Horse! It's really different from the Poirot stories. It's got some spooky, witchy elements, and similar small-town vibes to The Murder of Roger Ackroyd
I have never clicked on a video so fast 😍 I AM SO EXCITED the way i’m just sitting here eating cereal and my Agatha Christie fangirl heart is just giggling at your predictions and reactions to reveals 😁 how are you SO good at predicting the murderers? I could NEVER 😅 I’m so glad you loved And Then There Were None! She has so many good ones but that one’s my favorite ☺️ followed by Death on The Nile 🙌🏻
It's the way I've bumped up my ratings for all of the books in this video because I am still thinking about how much I enjoyed them all days later 😂Desi why didn't you force me to read Christie earlier? I LOVE HER!! haha
Poirot is absolutely sassy and dramatic and sometimes mean! But I love him for it :P I am so glad you enjoyed your first agatha christie read, murder on the orient express. YES and then there none is still my favourite agatha christie and I love that you loved it too. And you were so good at working out who was going to die next in that one. You did a good job sleuthing and solving death on the nile! That was one I got too as well :3 Yes, her books are very character driven and all you really get of the setting is that it is isolated. All Christie fans love Poirot's grand reveal scenes :D Some people get the roger ackroyd off the bat but I absolutely didn't simply because I didn't think she would dare. I also don't necessarily try and solve the crimes while reading though, I actively try to avoid doing that because Christie does have a pattern to her books and it would become too easy :P But I accidentally solved murder on the orient express and death on the nile without really trying to. And yes, I don't know the how ever though, like you! LOVED THIS VLOG SO MUCH
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is my favourite, the twist is just so good! But other than that I really love Evil Under the Sun and Lord Edgeware Dies! I really recommend them. Oh, and I'm pretty sure most of the old David Suchet episodes are actually on youtube!
“I have a theory that it was all of them” 🤣 should be the joke made in every subsequent Christie book theory. I’ve been saving the rest of the vlog until I’ve read the others. Finished Death on the Nile so watching that now!
I know that this is a year old video but Nancy Drew although not adult its still a fun read. I also think you would love Nancy as a detective character.
“And Then There are None” has long been my favorite but I also have really enjoyed “Three Blind Mice.” It was originally written as a play but was it later adapted. It is part of a short story collection called Three Blind Mice and Other Stories. “A Murder is Announced” is also another favorite.
No book has made my little sister angrier than Murder on the Orient Express. She vented so much after being so invested in guessing who the murderer was and narrowing the murderer down.
I've been a fan of hers for decades! After you've started with the Miss Marple books (you already have The Body in the Library!), make sure to check The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side, it's intense. I love your tea and books sweater. When you said "I have a theory" I immediatelly continued with "That it's a demon. A dancing demon? Wait, something isn't right there" and so did you *O* It made me so happy somehow.
Watching you read And Then There Were None was the best thing to happen to my weekend! I’m so dense with these mysteries and clues, and everything shocks me lol
Such a fun video! I loved watching you trying to solve the mystery. I have read all of these, so it was like experiencing it for the first time. I had decided to read the entire Agatha Christie canon this year, in chronological order. I am using the All About Agatha podcast as a guide, reading, and then listening to that episode right after. I am reading the physical books, but listening to the short stories. The ones narrated by Hugh Fraser (Hastings in the Suchet series) are the best. I have been getting them from my library.
I read my first Agatha Christie when I was eleven. It was And Then There Were None and I read it in one sitting. That book was the reason I became a reader. I've read all Christie's mysteries and I love almost all of them. I'm loving how excited you are and how much fun you're having reading these. That's the spirit. We read and reread her books for fun, to play detective and to enjoy the thrill her writing gives us.
I did not know I needed this video. Been playing this in the background while I cook, and it just felt like hearing a friend gossiping about a bunch of people.
It was so cool to read these (finally) and then watch you read and react to them. I did figure some stuff out too, like I wasn't sure but I had my suspicions, but never as quickly as you. Well done!
I would recommend Agatha Oddly and the Lost Key by Lena Jones. Which is a middle grade of a young girl solving cases and hearing Pirot’s voice. Absolutely loved the series and now you’ve made me interested in picking up some actual Agatha Christie 🔎
My mom loves Agatha Christie so I grew up reading and watching her stuff. And then there were none, is my favorite. The twist is so good the first time you read it. There are some really good more recent takes on and then there were none, one by one by Ruth Ware and an unwanted guest by Shari Lapena were books I really liked.
I didn't expect the twist, I mean I know I guessed who it would be, but the how always bamboozled me! So smart. Oooo thanks foe the recommendation, I've been wanting to read One by One for a while now!
🤩Agatha Christie's, Tommy & Tuppence Mysteries Series is fun and some of my favs. Also, any of her Miss Marple's are gems and highly entertaining. Enjoy your exploration of our beloved Miss Christie, Gavin!🔎
I've now watched the second half and just had to comment again. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching you discover Christie and get so caught up in the mysteries. Really looking forward to your reactions when you read more. Nice job!
Even though I never figured out the how, I seemed to be very good at figuring out the who haha so part time detective better pay well, that's all I'm saying 😂
Five Little Pigs is my favorite Poirot novel! Make sure you add that to your list. And make sure you read some Miss Marple novels - The Body in The Library, A Murder is Announced, and The Murder at the Vicarage are some of the best Marple mysteries. Some of the stand alone mysteries are also excellent - Crooked House, Ordeal by Innocence, and Toward Zero. Just be aware that not all of Christie's books are of the same quality. She wrote some stinkers, especially the spy thrillers and some of her last dozen or so mysteries.
Ahh I own Five Little Pigs and The Body in the Library now! And I was gifted Crooked House last year and very excited to get to it. Honestly I am so excited to read more Christie, and glad there's so many for me to get into. I'll keep an eye out for the stinkers
@@rikkebay8548 Yes, I agree, too! A Murder is Announced is my favorite Marple novel. I re-read it every summer! It's also in my top 5 of all the Christie books. There are a few Christie books that are probably better technically as puzzle mysteries, but I have a huge soft spot for A Murder is Announced (despite a couple of flaws). And I love, LOVE the BBC adaptation with Joan Hickson.
@@rikkebay8548 Best Marple for sure! I think it's one the best Christie mysteries full stop. There are some others that are technically better, but it's a great all-around mystery. I love it!
Maybe you mean the you are the protege of Hercule Poirot? As you are a person who is guided and supported by an older and more experienced person (a protector or mentor).
Gavin I love the full beard! I just read my first Agatha Christie. And Then There Were None. I loved it! Classics always intimidate me so much and I put them off but then I end up loving them.
Super stoked you enjoyed your time with these books! I hope you do more vlogs reading Christie Mysteries! Body in the Library is one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy it when you get to it!!
Also... 🍷 but also, I would love to see you read Hallowe'en Party. It's a later Poirot, but it's fun. The main event takes place at a children's Halloween party. There's some actual spooky bits! :)
Agatha Christie is one of my all time faves - love the TV shows and movies too! Your excitement is contagious! Looks like such a fabulous time in London - great footage.
I absolutely love this video, mysteries are one of my favorite genres! Please continiue making more videos like this! 🥰 Your sleuthing is by far the best part 🕵 Interesting note - When you've read quite a few mystries you can spot the murderer and victim in the first chapter as they both have to be mentioned, and mostly by name.
This is unbelievable!! Most people find these books impossible to solve, I've read about 65 of her books and can now pretty much always solve them but at the very beginning I hardly ever solved them!! The murder of Roger Ackroyd is my absolute favourite and is one of the first ones I managed to solve but everyone else I've seen read it hasn't solved it. The best one the start with is the mysterious affair at styles which is the first Poirot book. It's a good introduction to his character but is also incredibly clever. The first one I ever read was a murder is announced which is a miss Marple book and that is definitely also one of my favourites. My least favourite is obviously the Big 4 which is well known as being awful as Christie write it to piss of her publishers who wouldn't let her out of a publishing deal. One that I really hate that other people love is actually Death in the Nile, I just think it's so incredibly boring, it felt like it went on fovever and I didn't find it at all gripping! Heads up with the film, I would read the Poirot books you want to read first because they get his characterization so incredbily wrong and which really ruined it for me. I was also incredibly upset at how they took such an iconic, very clearly asexual and aromantic character and gave him a female love interest, it made me so uncomfortable and I felt incredbily invalidated after seeing it. Still worth a watch but just bear that in mind. Great video though, your so fun and comforting to watch and so nice to see a fellow Geordie enjoying Agatha Christie:)
So, I paused this video to read Death on the Nile first and it’s so hard not to come back and finish the video 😭. Also, your post about Christie and Wine book club is gone and I’m feeling a little worried! 😟 😂 ❤️ I need fun buddies to read Christie with!
omfg this vlog was so good!!!! also wow gav I didn't know you were a genius!?!?!? first time I read all of these I didn't guess any of them LOLLLL okay but you should read a Miss Marple one next and my fav for her are At Bertrams Hotel and 4.50 from Paddington! Also, Hercule Poirot's Christmas is soooo good!
the second poirot book, murder on the links, has a great reveal. if you want a more confusing, puzzling one go for lord edgeware dies. then if you want a bad one read the big four.
I love “Murder on the Orient Express.” Have always been a fan. My grandmother was a fan and got me started with Christie when I was a young girl. Glad you had fun.
That was some amazing sleuthing! 🤯I'm impressed! Now I need to now if you would able to guess some/all of the others! 🤩(like, for example, ABC Murders, Five Little Pigs or End House) My favorite Christie stories are 1. Death on the Nile 2. Murder on the Orient Express 3. ABC Murders and my least favorite is probably And Then There Were None, but that's probably because I don't like thrillers and that's obviously a thriller. Plus, I don't like when people start dropping like flies in my murder mysteries because then the pool of suspects is more shallow, which, like nah, boring 🙄 I also second anyone's recommendation of watching BBC's Poirot, it's amazing! Also, Death on the Nile version has Emily Blunt playing Lynette 😉 Also, also, I think that you're gonna enjoy The Body at the Vicarage, as it's a Miss Marple book and I think that you'll enjoy Miss Marple, who's one sassy, gossipy and smart old lady 😁
Miss Marple is sassy?? Ok, I’m definitely going to prioritise reading Marple next! Also thank you so much for the recommendations, I’m excited to see if I end up finding out the whodunnit in those books too 👀
@@GavinReadsItAll I, at least, have always found her sassy, so I hope that you have a great time reading her stories as well (tho, Poirot is still the number 1 for me) 😉 This was such a fun video! 😁
so incredibly excited for you! I love mysteries like these and I'm So jealous I love Anna James so much! she is so kind and My fav. middle grade author! such a great video!
I've been reading Agatha Christie since I was a kid and I love the Poirot and Miss Marple shows. I can usually guess who the killer is but NEVER the how. Ugh, she's so good and thank goodness she was a prolific writer.
Love this video soo much. ❤️❤️ Would love another one where you read some of her other books. Would love your thoughts on Halowe’en, cards on the table, Evil under the sun and after the funeral. 🥰❤️❤️
Loved the video!! I read Agatha Christie for the first time last year. And Then There Were None is my favorite so far. She definitely got me with that one. Every time I thought I knew... I didn't.
The footage was something else and that statue of the Queen of murder mystery herself- amazing!. Anna James was so cool as well Gav and Goldsboro Books looked incredible. Now I need to save to go to London in a few years. ☕🔎🕯📚 I have read all four books and my favourite would have to be Death on the Nile followed by The murder of Roger Aykroyd then Orient Express and And then there were none.
Ahh!! I love love love Agatha Christie, I've read around 50 of her books. You did really well guessing! I also guessed The Murder of Roger Ackroyd right. I do find that if you read her books back-to-back, it gets a lot easier to guess because you just tune in into her patterns and know what to look for. I usually space out her books a bit. But you should absolutely read more from her (and vlog!) - you didn't even get to any Miss Marple books. And check out other classic mystery authors. It's so fun to watch you solve the mysteries. My least favourites: The Seven Dials Mystery, Evil Under the Sun, The Secret of Chimneys, Appointment with Death, The Listerdale Mystery, Murder is Easy. Some of my favourites: And Then There Were None (obviously!), The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, The Thirteen Problems (short stories), Hercule Poirot's Christmas, Mrs. McGinty's Dead, Peril at End House, A Murder Is Announced.
Thanks so much!! Do you have any recommendations for which Miss Marple books to read? I’d love to do a vlog dedicated to those books by Christie. And believe me this is the start of my classic mysteries love, I want to get to sooo many more
@@GavinReadsItAll From Miss Marple books, I really like The Thirteen Problems (short stories), A Murder Is Announced, Murder at the Vicarage, The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side . Currently I'm reading A Pocket Full of Rye and it's good so far but haven't finished yet! I know The Body In the Library is very well loved but personally it wasn't my favourite. A lot of people also love A Moving Finger, and it was one of my favourites when I read it as a teen but reread it last year, and didn't like it at all. While the last two mentioned are not my personal favourites, probably would fit a vlog well because they're really popular!
Ooh, Peril at End House and A Murder is Announced are some of my favourites, too, so now I'm very excited to read Mrs McGinty's Dead, which I haven't gotten to yet (and can't remember from the show)!
Congrats!! I only had to fast forward through one book so as not to be spoiled. I just finished The Murder on the Links and really enjoyed it, so that’s one I recommend. I also really liked Cat Among the Pigeons. And for least fave…it’s kind of a tie between Third Girl and Three Act Tragedy. They were still good, just not the best. Hope these recs help! I can’t wait to watch you read more Christie!!
Another fab video . I saw The Mouse Trap at the Theatre Royal a few years ago and guess who did it . I am looking forward to watching Death On Nile on Disney plus .
Ive read nearly all the Agatha Christie novels and my ranking based on how much i reread them is: 1) And Then There Were None 2) Death on the Nile 3) Crooked House 4)Cards on the Table 5) Murder on the Orient Express 6) Five Little Pigs 7) After the Funeral 8) Murder of Roger Ackroyd 9)Appointment with Death 10) Evil Under the Sun
Gavin in a Victorian detective outfit saying, "And I'm just excited to try my first Agatha Christie books! Eeee!" is so cute! I've seen the 1945 adaptation of And Then There Were None but I have never read any Agatha Christie as far as I remember. The thing is I do remember at least looking at her books at school libraries growing up but I don't think I ever read any.
You are a genuine sleuth 🕵️!! I loved watching you read these and figure them out so far in advance. I’m telling you my brain does not work this way it needs to to figure out these mysteries!
Haha I don't even know how, I just picked up on one suspicious thing and I latched onto it in the hopes I was right 😂I need to try and figure out the "how" as I could never figure that out, so next time I will try and focus on the "how"
@@GavinReadsItAll ooh! I absolutely cannot wait until your next round of these! I would love to know what you’re reading in advance so that I can read them before the Vlog comes out I think that would be a blast!
If you watch the new movie I recommend watching the ones starring Peter Ustinov as Poirot. He's in Death on the Nile, Evil Under the Sun (Maggie Smith is in it too and the scene where Poirot goes swimming is THE best) and Appointment with Death. The new ones are good but I love the old ones. Ustinov's Poirot is so much more...I don't know, odd?
@@GavinReadsItAll yeees! And for Miss Marple I recommend the movies with Margaret Rutherford. She's so much fun and I love how she drags Mr Stringer, the librarian, into her investigations every time. There are four movies with her.
I've read quite a few Agatha Christie novels over the years now. I think Death on the Nile is my favourite as it was one of my first ones and it was sooo overdramatic and fun! Loved it! The most recent one was Five Little Pigs, and that was also really good. A very structured book with great character work.
I just got into Agatha Christie myself. I read Death on the Orient Express last year, and read Death on the Nile, The Mysterious Affair at Styles and Murder on the Links this week for FBSG Readathon. I’ll hold off on watching this because I haven’t read the others books in it yet and don’t want to be spoiled!

I hope he would be impressed, even though I could never guess "how" they did it, I am so impressed that I guessed "who" had done it. And I would like to continue that series, I am going to rejig the format of it though to make it feel more natural. So glad you were enjoying it though, that makes me more excited to continue it!

Her best book? A Murder Is Announced, 1950, Miss Marple. Ditto to the adaptation starring Joan Hickson from the 1980s. And Then There Were None is probably in the five. Chilling and suspenseful.
If you like Agatha Christie books then I highly recommend the Aggie Morton, Mystery Queen series. It's a middle grade series following a young Agatha as she solves mysteries with her best friend Hector Perot. I'm on the third book now and they're amazing. I can completely imagine a young Agatha solving mysteries with her best friend and then growing up to be a famous mystery author 🥰🥰
That was wonderful! So fun! Thank you! You should definitely watch Agatha Christie's Poirot, Sir David Suchet is remarkable! Murder on the Orient Express have creative emotional addition, so to say, that it's so good, and The Labours of Hercules is quite different from the book and it's great.
I'm new to Agatha Christie's work. I've seen the film adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile. I would love a Wine and Crime book club to read and solve the mystery along with you.
I love this video!! I watched 2 sections yesterday because I haven’t read the rest but I just finished the murder of roger ackroyd and it was so good!! I had to come back to see that section!
I guessed whodunit in Roger Akroyd too, BUT before I read it people told me that I would never in a million years guess who did it. Which is a pretty big clue in itself. Because i could easily guess any of the other characters. And I noticed the carefully worded issue too.

You're scary good at guessing the twists in these books 🤯 Another one of Christie's books that I think has a really good twist is The Pale Horse! It's really different from the Poirot stories. It's got some spooky, witchy elements, and similar small-town vibes to The Murder of Roger Ackroyd
Oooo The Pale Horse you say?? Wonder if I can figure that one out too 👀and it sounds right up my street!
I have never clicked on a video so fast 😍
I AM SO EXCITED
the way i’m just sitting here eating cereal and my Agatha Christie fangirl heart is just giggling at your predictions and reactions to reveals 😁
how are you SO good at predicting the murderers? I could NEVER 😅
I’m so glad you loved And Then There Were None!
LOVED THIS VLOG SO MUCH
Ahhh thank you for watching Olivia 🥰
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is my favourite, the twist is just so good! But other than that I really love Evil Under the Sun and Lord Edgeware Dies! I really recommend them.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure most of the old David Suchet episodes are actually on youtube!
Oop catch me watching the episodes on RUclips STAT, also thanks for letting me know your favourites!
Dammmmn, the way you got The murder of Roger Ackroyd so right. I missed all those hints you got when I read it.
I had this weird feel of proudness when you were reading "then there were none" ♥️
🥰
Love this for you! I'd recommend Cards on the Table as a brilliant psychological whodunnit
I've heard great things about that one!
Watching you read And Then There Were None was the best thing to happen to my weekend! I’m so dense with these mysteries and clues, and everything shocks me lol
I loved this episode. Agatha Christie is a genius writer who tells compelling stories. It’s lovely to see you so engrossed and excited! .
The way you were talking about “and then there were none” I ended up being soo invested thank you 🙏
I read my first Agatha Christie when I was eleven.
Oh I haven't watched yet but I'm so excited to see you read "And Then There Were None," that one is my favorite!
It’s such a standout novel 😍
I did not know I needed this video. Been playing this in the background while I cook, and it just felt like hearing a friend gossiping about a bunch of people.
That copy of Death on the Nile is so beautiful I had to pause the video and purchase it! 🤦♀️
Good choice!
Just started And then there were none because of you, and I’m enjoying it so much! 🥰❤️ Thanks for all the great content Gavin. ❤️
Now I want to read Agatha Christie books thanks for the walk around London it made my day! Love from Croatia! :)
It was so cool to read these (finally) and then watch you read and react to them. I did figure some stuff out too, like I wasn't sure but I had my suspicions, but never as quickly as you. Well done!
This was so much fun! I hope you do another episode. You should absolutely do Crooked House, that’s my fave and it has the BEST ending omg
Shout out for the "I have a theory" buffy reference!😍 I can't not sing it either😂
I would recommend Agatha Oddly and the Lost Key by Lena Jones. Which is a middle grade of a young girl solving cases and hearing Pirot’s voice. Absolutely loved the series and now you’ve made me interested in picking up some actual Agatha Christie 🔎
Oooo thanks for the recommendation 🥰
I am so excited to try more Christie, so glad I have so many books before me to try for the first time 😍
These were my first four Christie books as well - they were the only four by her in my high school library 🤣
I've now watched the second half and just had to comment again. I've thoroughly enjoyed watching you discover Christie and get so caught up in the mysteries. Really looking forward to your reactions when you read more. Nice job!
Can't wait to read more, thanks Kate!
You have a new career option Gavin lol full time bookseller part time detective 🕵️♀️
Even though I never figured out the how, I seemed to be very good at figuring out the who haha so part time detective better pay well, that's all I'm saying 😂
Oh my gosh your London footage and that Beatrix Potter book story are amazing! I love this video so much!
Thank you so much Betsey 🥰
OMG, what a tour guide! Sounds like a perfect day😍
It really was 🥰
Please bring these back! They are soooooo much fun 🎉
Great vlog! Loved the music a lot 🙂
You haven't read a Miss Marple yet, so maybe one of those next?
Definitely want to, I've had some great Miss Marple recommendations so far.
Loved this! I've been feeling so slumpy lately with reading but this makes me feel excited to read again
Aw glad I could help 🥰
A Murder is Announced is so good!
@@MaijaReads It really is the best Miss Marple! 😍
OMG Squee! I didn't realize you could get more adorable. Murder on the Orient Express was also my first AC and I read it in Turkey!
N'aw thank you 🥰and yay love that we both read Murder on the Orient Express as our first AC book
I loved this video! Appreciate you buying the hardbacks 😍
@@megs_bookrack I would love to read all of Miss Marple's books in 1 video, and the Halloween Party book sounds awesome!
Agatha Christie is one of my all time faves - love the TV shows and movies too! Your excitement is contagious! Looks like such a fabulous time in London - great footage.
Thank you Lynne, and honestly I had so much fun reading Agatha Christie that I cannot wait to read more!
I absolutely love this video, mysteries are one of my favorite genres! Please continiue making more videos like this! 🥰 Your sleuthing is by far the best part 🕵
Interesting note - When you've read quite a few mystries you can spot the murderer and victim in the first chapter as they both have to be mentioned, and mostly by name.
This was excelllent man, glad you loved And The There Were None, I read that in 2020 and I still think about it, it’s easily an alltime fav book
Definitely the best mystery I’ve ever read, glad it’s one of your favs too!
Since you seem to really jive with Poirot, hopefully, you get to Curtain (the last Poirot book). It's soooo good!
During the Death on the Nile section I felt like I should be taking a shot everytime you said my name lol
Haha you would have needed multiple bottles of alcohol 😂
@@GavinReadsItAll its ok I sipped my mug of tea instead I survived!
Love the timing of this video. I had previously only read And Then There Were None but I started reading the Poirot books this weekend.
Ahh yay that is fate!
This was so much fun!!! You should do something like this again in the future :)
I absolutely will, I had too much fun doing this!
the second poirot book, murder on the links, has a great reveal. if you want a more confusing, puzzling one go for lord edgeware dies. then if you want a bad one read the big four.
I love “Murder on the Orient Express.” Have always been a fan. My grandmother was a fan and got me started with Christie when I was a young girl. Glad you had fun.
Ahhh I love that! I wish someone passed Christie down to me, that would have been really special ❤
I’m so impressed by your sleuthing skills! 🕵️♂️
You and me both tbh 😂
That was some amazing sleuthing! 🤯I'm impressed! Now I need to now if you would able to guess some/all of the others! 🤩(like, for example, ABC Murders, Five Little Pigs or End House)
My favorite Christie stories are
1. Death on the Nile
2. Murder on the Orient Express
3. ABC Murders
and my least favorite is probably And Then There Were None, but that's probably because I don't like thrillers and that's obviously a thriller. Plus, I don't like when people start dropping like flies in my murder mysteries because then the pool of suspects is more shallow, which, like nah, boring 🙄
I also second anyone's recommendation of watching BBC's Poirot, it's amazing! Also, Death on the Nile version has Emily Blunt playing Lynette 😉
Also, also, I think that you're gonna enjoy The Body at the Vicarage, as it's a Miss Marple book and I think that you'll enjoy Miss Marple, who's one sassy, gossipy and smart old lady 😁
Miss Marple is sassy?? Ok, I’m definitely going to prioritise reading Marple next! Also thank you so much for the recommendations, I’m excited to see if I end up finding out the whodunnit in those books too 👀
@@GavinReadsItAll I, at least, have always found her sassy, so I hope that you have a great time reading her stories as well (tho, Poirot is still the number 1 for me) 😉
This was such a fun video! 😁
It was originally a play but black coffee is a really great! One of my favs just behind and then there were none!
I could watch hours of you reading and guessing these books 🤩
so incredibly excited for you! I love mysteries like these and I'm So jealous I love Anna James so much! she is so kind and My fav. middle grade author! such a great video!
Aww Anna James really is so lovely and you have great taste in MG authors ❤
I've been reading Agatha Christie since I was a kid and I love the Poirot and Miss Marple shows. I can usually guess who the killer is but NEVER the how. Ugh, she's so good and thank goodness she was a prolific writer.
Love this video soo much. ❤️❤️
Would love another one where you read some of her other books.
I didn't.
She really pulled the wool over our eyes with that one!
The footage was something else and that statue of the Queen of murder mystery herself- amazing!.
Anna James was so cool as well Gav and Goldsboro Books looked incredible. Now I need to save to go to London in a few years. ☕🔎🕯📚
I have read all four books and my favourite would have to be Death on the Nile followed by The murder of Roger Aykroyd then Orient Express and And then there were none.
And believe me this is the start of my classic mysteries love, I want to get to sooo many more
@@GavinReadsItAll From Miss Marple books, I really like The Thirteen Problems (short stories), A Murder Is Announced, Murder at the Vicarage, The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side
Poirot may be her most popular detective, but I’ve always loved Miss Marple. 🙂
Tommy and Tuppence can be fun as well.
Another fab video .
I saw The Mouse Trap at the Theatre Royal a few years ago and guess who did it . I am looking forward to watching Death On Nile on Disney plus .
I really need to see The Mouse Trap so I can see if I can figure it out too!
Ive read nearly all the Agatha Christie novels and my ranking based on how much i reread them is:
1) And Then There Were None
2) Death on the Nile
3) Crooked House
4)Cards on the Table
5) Murder on the Orient Express
6) Five Little Pigs
7) After the Funeral
8) Murder of Roger Ackroyd
9)Appointment with Death
10) Evil Under the Sun
this video is so fun!! I can’t watch the last part though because I haven’t read that one yet
I absolutely adore your content!
Oooo maybe I need to try out the 1945 adaptation of And Then There Were None!
@@ktxx22 keep an eye on my monthly TBR videos, I’ll most likely be talking about them in whichever month I decide to do them 🥰
@@GavinReadsItAll I will 1000000% keep my peepers peeped! And just in case you haven’t been told today… You are amazing, and I love your content! ♥️
Oooo it sounds like Peter Ustinov’s portrayal of Poirot is how I picture him in the books, I like the odd nature of Poirot!
Ooo now I’m excited to read Five Little Pigs!! 😍
Evil Under the Sun is one of my favorite Agatha Christie books...and looooooved the 1982 movie.
Yessss please do read the other ones I read in this vlog and come back and let me know how you found them, and if you worked them out, I’d love to know!
I loved seeing your reactions to Agatha Christie! I'm a new subscriber and wondering if you've read her Miss Marple books. I do love Miss Marple!
Absolutely loved this Vlog. Poirot would be well impressed with your sleuthing skills 🕵️♂️.
I was wondering will you be continuing Disney Movie/Book series as I absolutely adored that series.
I hope he would be impressed, even though I could never guess "how" they did it, I am so impressed that I guessed "who" had done it. And I would like to continue that series, I am going to rejig the format of it though to make it feel more natural. So glad you were enjoying it though, that makes me more excited to continue it!
You should try solving Five Little Pigs next, that one is, in my opinion at least, one of the best Poirot novels.
I love Aggie C and I LOVED this video! I haven’t read The Murder of Roger Ackroyd yet as I’m making my way through the Miss Marple books but once I do I’ll come back and watch that section👀
You’re an amazing detective btw! Very impressed by your sleuthing skills🔎
Ahhh I hope you enjoy Roger Ackroyd, please let me know if you figure out who it is when you read it! Love that you're reading Miss Marple, any recommendations from those books?
@@GavinReadsItAll Will do! My favourites so far are A Murder is Announced and The Body in the Library but I still have a few to get through at this point. This video’s actually inspired me to pick up my next one which is going to be A Pocket Full of Rye🕵️♀️
I’m back! It took me a few months but I finally read it and LOVED it🤩
I didn’t catch on as quickly as you but I was definitely getting weird vibes from the Doctor. Really liked the fact that we’re reading from the murderer’s perspective too👀
Her best book? A Murder Is Announced, 1950, Miss Marple. Ditto to the adaptation starring Joan Hickson from the 1980s. And Then There Were None is probably in the five. Chilling and suspenseful.
Not me having a dance party with myself 4 minutes into your vlog haha LOVE it!
YEESSS DANCE PARTY!!
Can't watch until later tonight but wanted to squeal over this being over 1hr!! Yeeesss. Chilling the wine now.
Yayyyy get the wine out!! I end this vlog with wine so that's perfect haha hope you enjoy 🥰
Ooooo thank you, I wonder if it's on streaming, I'll check it out
OK. I watched to the end. Try reading 'Evil Under The Sun'. Our teacher in school had us try to figure out who did it.
I'm new to Agatha Christie's work. I've seen the film adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile. I would love a Wine and Crime book club to read and solve the mystery along with you.
Gavin your beard is looking AMAZING recently!
Why thank you 🥰
I love this video!! I watched 2 sections yesterday because I haven’t read the rest but I just finished the murder of roger ackroyd and it was so good!! I had to come back to see that section!
Thank you for coming back to the Roger Ackroyd section and glad you enjoyed it too 🥰
Hehe I’m back for the third time for death on the Nile 😂
My birthday is the 7th of May too!😃 also a fellow bookworm here!
I love this series! Well done
I guessed whodunit in Roger Akroyd too, BUT before I read it people told me that I would never in a million years guess who did it. Which is a pretty big clue in itself. Because i could easily guess any of the other characters. And I noticed the carefully worded issue too.
