Oh absolutely but the whole “daddy I love him!” Thing is still laughably bad. She talks about how her father doesn’t even know him enough to judge him but she doesn’t either. She’s never even spoken to him. The live action movie definitely made her fascination with humans much more clear before she meets Eric, and even more so after she does.

@@mateom1691 I don't understand this emerging need to give more development and logic to a Disney movie. Let's see, yes, it may be ridiculous and nonsense that Ariel loves Eric when she just saw him, but that's the point. She is 16 years old, she is a girl (or a little mermaid), and I think that all or most of us as teenagers have had crushes that now embarrass us or seem laughable because they did not make sense. Ariel's statement about her feelings for Eric comes in part from her desire to meet humans and how fascinated she is by them. There are people who have fallen in love instantly in their life with someone just when they saw them once. In Ariel's case, even if she is a fictional character, her love for Eric is not meaningless.
Ariel's fascination for humans was always very clear (She sings Part of your world before meeting Eric and I think that should be proof enough), if it wasn't for you, it's because you are part of that mentality that condemns the female characters for having love interests as if that took away their value as a character or their essence or because that doesn't make them look "empowered" enough.
They shoud've never made Ursula so slay if we weren't supposed to root for her lmao
Sebastian has always been a CRAB! Nothing in his character design says lobster, and yet so many people seem to forget what a lobster actually looks like. LOL!!! 🦞

Alana- Black sea (hair)
Adella-Mediterranean sea (personality is romantic)
Aquata- Coral sea (personality is shy)
Arista- White sea (hair)
Andrina- Caribbean sea (personality is carefree)
Ariel- Red sea (hair)
Idk if that would be considered being named after the seven seas. It seems more like the sisters each represent one of the seven seas.
I’m a 27 year old man, but I love this movie! A total classic! I saw the new one in theaters with my friend, and we both loved it! I think it does not matter what gender you are, anybody can enjoy this movie at any age! Great reaction! 😊
This is my childhood, Ariel and Eric is still my favorite Disney couple and the first balanced Disney couple, nothing else can change that.
The original The Little Mermaid is awesome but the sequel is my favorite because of Morgana Ursula's equally ICONIC sister; I'm 29 years old BTW 😊
Morgana was great because it was still Pat Carroll and yet the characters are noticeably different.
Little Mermaid 2 is just 80 minutes of Sebastian reliving the trauma THIS movie caused him and I feel it.

Disney insisted that every single bubble in this movie be hand drawn....there are over a million bubbles in this movie....
That is a LOT of bubble-induced-PTSD for that team of animators!!!

I just saw the live action movie last Friday! I hadn’t listened to the soundtrack ahead of time, and while I caught the lyric change in Kiss The Girl that makes the song more consensual, I actually didn’t even notice they cut out that one part of Poor Unfortunate Souls. I did however catch two smaller but much more noticeable changes to the lyrics.
Spoilers if you haven’t heard the song/seen the movie yet:
The first thing is that, instead of signing a contract, Ariel has to pluck a scale off of her tail, and that plus the bit of blood that comes with it is what seals their deal. Idk if it was because so many people have pointed out how Ariel could have just written to Eric, but if so I think that was a cool idea to fix that minor plot hole.
The other change is replacing the word “*Larengix*” in Ursula’s spell, and it now goes, “*Amnesia* glaucitis
Et max laryngitis
La voce to me”
It stood out to me because I remember noticing the “laryngitis” part when I first heard the song as an adult, and I knew I would’ve similarly noticed the word “amnesia” if it had been there before.

Another thing I love about this movie is how it shows it Max as one of the best doggos. Not only did he not fall for “Vanessa’s” trickery, but he was practically shipping Eric and Ariel from the beginning, and I LOVE that you noticed it too! 😁

3 months late lol but I totally agree with you!! I absolutely love the second little mermaid. In my opinion most of the time the second movies or like the sequels are just rushed or made just to try to make more money but I absolutely love the second little mermaid!! Definitely one of the best sequels of any Disney movie!!

I also think people complain to much. Whenever something like Ursula’s song comes up I think about the “time” period the movie is surrounded upon. And they made the changes in the current movie to reflect a new age. I think it’s great
So I saw the little mermaid series backwards
I saw the second movie first (I think my mom thought she grabbed the first one on Vhs) and I loved it so much. And then one day in second grade they showed us the first movie.
I also loved mermaids growing up and I felt like such a big kid watching the live action movie which was fantastic and the music was just heartbreakingly beautiful
Would like to say that my parents trusted 5 year old me to pick a name for my little brother. And me being obsessed with the little mermaid of course said Sebastian. So now I have a little brother called Sebastian

The live action not having all the favorite parts in it from the original is a huge crime!
20:30 I think they also fixed this plot hole in the live action as well, but it’s kind of subtle.
Spoilers from this scene in the movie:
First, before the song starts, Scuttle is doing her vocal warmups, it starts off with her doing like a, “Bow chicka bow wow, chicka bow wow,” and the shot is focused on her. Then it cuts to a wide shot that includes the rowboat in the shot, and her sounds change to just regular bird squawks. Then it cuts back to the closeup on just Scuttle, and the sounds change back to the, “Bow chicka bow wow.” I interpreted that as us getting a brief moment of what Eric’s hearing.
Also, they changed how he learns Ariel’s name, and Sebastian doesn’t help at all. It’s actually one of my favorite minor changes, because the way Ariel figures out how to guide Eric to the answer is really cute and clever! Especially since this film never establishes that Ariel knows how to write even her own name.
