Charlotte being rich enough to go to any restaurant and chooses to go to where her best friend works shows just how humble and caring she is her hearts made of gold😭❤️✨
If you watched Tinkerbell or Peter Pan you'll realize that Ray is basically Neverland aka "The second star on the right" in every Disney movie intro and even in some other movies that wish on the second star!

@@butt5fulThat's what I thought when I saw the movie the first time. I seriously thought it was done as a reference to that but according to the directors John Musker and Ron Clements, it was based on the poem Evangeline by Longfellow.

I like to think that Evangeline may have actually been a firefly/lightning bug before but died and Ray recognized her up in the stars. So when he died, he joined her there 🥺😭🙏🏽❤️

The princess and the frog, or the frog prince is one of those really old classic story book fairy tales. This is not a remake, but a recontextualization of that story.
Keith David is the voice of Dr. Faciler. He's the best.

I'm from New Orleans and this movie definitely has the trifecta of what people think of when they picture New Orleans: Mardi Gras, Beignets and Voodoo. I still enjoy this movie though :)
Keith David voiced Dr. Facilier. He also voiced Galieth in the animated series Gargoyles in the 90's if you've ever seen that show.
Tiania's line "There's no way I kiss a frog and eat a bug on the same day." was gonna happen earlier because she and Naveen was meant to meet Ray before Louis but they switched around the events. Technically this causes a continutiy error as it has gone 24 hours since Tiana kissed Naveen the first time, ergo, she wouldn't kiss a frog and eat a bug on the same day.
i come from a line of people from New Orleans, and this movie is an absolute love letter to the place. yes, EVERYTHING can be improved with hot sauce. i've had "mardi gras jambalaya" from new england and i had to drown it in hot sauce. beignets are fantastic, but do not breathe within a mile of them because of the powdered sugar going everywhere (NEVER WEAR BLACK AROUND THEM EITHER)

This is actually one of my favorite Disney films, especially because it was a black princess. I shared this with my younger sister so she could grow up with a black princess in her life. Your reaction was great, especially because yall was so focused on the frog's quads lol.
If you haven't does Beauty and the Beast, the animated version, I think that should be the next one you do.
The animation style for the "Almost There" number is inspired by the Harlem Renaissance painter Aaron Douglas.

Loved this amazing reaction to such an icon in the castle of Disney’s Princesses. Ray and Evangeline’s love story is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Charlotte is definitely one of the MVPs for being a true friend to Tiana and is still willing to wait for Naveen’s brother to grow up before marriage. Fun fact: In an earlier script, Dr. Facilier would not just be a dark wizard who wants to conquer New Orleans with the help of his friends, he would have been Mama Odie's son, who followed the path of the dark arts, unlike his mother. In this same script, there was to be a showdown between the two of them, which would have converged into a major battle during the Mardi Gras.

@@ZeliBnnuy maybe if they make a Broadway musical adaption, they may utilize that storyline. They did that with The Little Mermaid musical, using the deleted concept of Ursula and Triton being siblings, and re-incorporated it in the live action remake.
One thing to know for why a lot of stories that Disney does might have sayings or ideas you've heard for much longer, is all the fairy tale ones aren't just completely made up by Disney, they're all based in old fairytales and legends that have been around for hundreds of years

Idk if anyone else has recommended this, but regarding your question in the beginning about Walt Disney, you all should watch Saving Mr. Banks! It’s about the writer of the Mary Poppins books and her process with Disney to get the movie made. It has Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson in it.

The Princess and the Frog is loosely based on The Frog Princess by E.D. Baker which in turn was based on The Frog Prince from The Fairy Tales of The Brothers Grimm. Initally, the film was gonna be called The Frog Princess but they changed it to The Princess and The Frog as apparently the title would be a slur on french women (which I don't get even if I know that french people likes to eat frogs legs). Also Tiana was originally be called Madeleine nicknamed Maddy and was a maid but it was changed because of A. Maddy sounded to close to Mammy, which is consindered racist among the black people (most likely because of Al Jolson sang Mammy in The Jazz Singer, in which he was in blackface portraying an african-american man, in those days being in blackface and portraying black people in a then-stereotypical manner is consindered racist). B. Black women often were employed as maids for people with a high income, since people most employer unlike today, weren't keen hiring black people, often getting low-income, back-breaking jobs that white people didn't want, therefore it is consindered racist. This is why Tiana is a waitress instead.
Cousin Randy is voiced by the composer Randy Newman (who most famously did the music for many Pixar movies including Toy Story 1 to 4, A Bug's Life, Monsters, Inc. and Universtiy and Cars 1 and 3 plus other movies like The Three Amigos, plus is known as a singer and piananist, famous for doing Simon Smith and his Amazing Dancing Bear, Short People and It's Lonely At The Top, and did the known Disney songs You Got A Friend In Me, It's Your, The Time of Your Life and If I Didn't Have You). In earlier versions he was meant to have anothter voice cameo as the turtle in When We're Human, where he'd freqently ask the trio "Are you sure?" but this messed with the tempo so the turtle remained silent and Cousin Randy was made for Newman's voice cameo.

The way shes calling him "big daddy" is in the same way alot black folks call their own grandma or the neighborhood/church elderly lady "big momma" or "madea"
I call my grandpa "big pappa" and my grandma "big momma" 🤷🏾♀️
Its a term of endearment. Unfortunately, because of the way society has used the term "daddy" and even the word "big" (when applied to certain words) to have certain connotations it feels "weird", "creepy" or "awkward" to alot of people

Louis is an alligator, not a crocodile, even if they're closely related (along with caimen). Gators are native to the US and have V-shaped snouts compared to crocodiles' U-shaped ones.
Don't crocodiles have v shaped snouts and alligators have u shaped snouts.

This movie sucks
This is one of the more modern princess movies but it's set in I believe the 1920s like many of the Disney princesses movies it is based on a very old story and a lot of their stories come from various cultures around the world that's why me and many many many many many other people were upset about race swapping the princess because that's not okay because of the part of the world where that story is set there would not have been black people in that time period it's like taking the fairy tales that are set in Germany and having an Indian as the main character or having the stories that are set in France have a Brazilian main character it makes no damn sense and it's kind of insulting to both races because you're taking the story from One race and saying they don't count as somebody who gets to have stories their stories matter they don't and what it says to the minority who replaces them it says your face is trendy but your stories don't matter I really like Tiana but a lot of people are complaining that oh she was the first black princess and they can't have her be a human through most of the movie what kind of the point of the movie she turned into a different species
No Sweet Summer child Disney did not come up in the 60s there are several Disney princess movies that were in the fifties I want to say possibly snow white was in 40s before that all Disney things were shorts as that was the first full length cartoon
