I liked the way they represented the them touching each other, because there is a scientific explanation why
When you drop small drops of water onto a hot plate, the surface of the drop in contact with the heat evaporates, creating steam that makes the drop "float" on the metal
That's basically what happens when they touch, A small amount of water from Wade's body evaporates, creating a layer of vapor that keeps the two safe even when touching

Their bow at the end had me crying for a loooong time after the movie ended - i can't even imagine how important it was to the dad. it’s a lot about immigration especially asian immigrants. that’s noticeable in the story, the difference in language, “fire town” being a stand in for something like “china town”. The commentary of saying like marry fire, etc. Also the expectation placed on the children of immigrants.
I really like it and I think that they did an insanely good job of portraying it.

  • @truthseeker9249

This movie. It moved me like no movie ever has before. Because Ember and Wade are literally us. I'm black, he's white. I have a fiery personality and would definitely be a fire elemental if that stuff was real. He has a gentle laid back personality and would definitely be a water elemental. We are polar opposites in race and personality. Ember and Wade's conflict in the middle of the movie? All I saw in that scene was him and I. We've had that same argument again and again during the time we've been together. Mostly because of my stubborn nature and my struggle to fully understand just how much he cares for me and how right he is about my life. Everything Ember said about being who she is and not wanting to throw it away and feeling like what she wants doesn't matter because of her family? Me. Me me me me me. I grew up in a traditional Christian household that A. Doesn't truly respect the LGBT (which I am) and B. Doesn't understand or respect mental health or people with mental disabilities (which again I am). Black people are the biggest discriminators against LGBT and mental health stuff. All my life I've tried to please my family and told myself what I want doesn't matter because I have to make everyone else happy to avoid the belt at home or to avoid bullying at school. Everything Wade said to combat that about Ember needing to follow her heart and put herself first, the whole movie of him encouraging her and telling her how beautiful and inspiring she is. How she's strong and capable of anything. That's my boyfriend. All the way. He's the first in his family to date interracially and it has been a culture shock and quite the adjustment for them. And while they are pretty nice on the surface, their ignorance and biases crack through from time to time and I see how they really look at me. The only one who is truly good to me and doesn't see me some type of way is his Nan. All she sees me as is the good loving person who makes her grandson so happy. They all do have goodness in them and did a good job raising my boyfriend despite their shortcomings. But he's nothing like them at all. He's genuinely kind-hearted, not just surface level "nice", he's kind. He's compassionate and open minded and only wants the best for everyone around him. He listens to me fully, he calls me out on my crap but he doesn't see me as less than or hold my problems against me, he supports me, comforts me, lets me know it's okay to be myself and to NOT be okay. He takes care of me. All my life I've felt like I don't belong anywhere. I just don't fit in. Which is why I am just so touched to see a movie about someone like me (Ember). And to see a movie about a couple like us. Sure mixed couples are more accepted now but they will never be accepted fully. Little kids still stare at us with confusion and certain grown ups black and white still stare at us with disgust. There have been times when I didn't feel safe because we were surrounded by people staring at us like they wanted us dead. But we're determined to protect ourselves and our future little ones. And as long as no physical harm comes to us, we'll get through it as long as we have each other. I think this movie portrayed it perfectly. I cried my eyes out on my boyfriend's chest at the end. Yet another surprising masterpiece. Way less cheesy than the trailer made it look. It was beautiful. Emotional and heartfelt. We just went to see it a second time since it's back in theaters and it was just as beautiful of an experience as the first time. We had actually been struggling with some things between us and I was feeling a little sad about the way our relationship was going. But yet we spent the whole movie wrapped up in each other's arms. It eased the tension, broke down the emotional barriers between us and made it easier for us to finally sit and talk about the things that were wrong. This movie just has a way of bringing us closer together. It's like magic.

The elements goes off your personality.
    Water
Your personality matches the water element! Just like Wade, you wear your heart on your sleeve. You tend to connect easily with others because of your kind spirit. And while you often get overwhelmed with your own emotions, you have no problem being empathetic to the people around you. Family and friendships are extremely important to you, so making lasting memories is always at the top of your list. You're loyal, artistic, and slightly introverted - unless you're around your core group, that's when your personality really runs wild!
    Fire
Your personality matches the fire element!
Just like Ember, you're extremely passionate about the people closest to you and the things you put your energy into. You're very emotion-driven, which means when you love, you love HARD, but when you're upset, it's written all over your face. But you're getting better at managing your emotions, so that's all that matters. You're a creative and bold person with a soul that shines bright!
    Earth
Your personality matches the earth element! Just like Clod, you're patient and grounded. You're known for being really honest, not only with yourself, but with others. Friends rely on you to deliver the truth, even if it's something they might not want to hear. That has earned you the trust of your friends and loved ones. You tend to be a calm person, so it takes a lot to bring you out of your character. And while coloring outside the lines can be fun from time to time, you gravitate more toward order and stability. You're resilient, caring, and always looking for ways to grow as a person.
    Air
Your personality matches the air element!
Just like Gale Cumulus, you rely on facts rather than feelings. You prefer to view situations through a logical lens, which is why friends and family look to you as their voice of reason. Because of this, you can sometimes come off as cold, but anyone who truly knows you knows that you have a really big heart. Although you can be a little closed off to others, when it comes to exploring life, you like to go with the flow. You're intelligent, detail-oriented, and extremely curious about the world.

I loved that you did a reaction to this movie. I watched it when it came out in cinema, and on September 13th when it came out on Disney+ I've watched this over 60x's because its that good. Simply because its just the way Wade looks at Ember and how close they got. Usually with PIXAR movies you have your LI (love interest) and MC (main character) fall for one another within a span of two or three days, but looking at this it was (to me) two weeks. Just the way they connected and their conversations, and like you said, he finds ways to accommodate her to keep her safe. Now watching your reaction I cried 100x's over because of how special their dynamic is. I'm going to watch this movie again and again. The other thing I like about this movie too is that the dad didn't pass away; even though Wade did (fake death) but the movies that I've seen with PIXAR for example, ONWARD, their dad had past away and I balled my eyes out, another UP when Ellie died I cried; it's movies like that; that shook me to my core, but this having both parents alive, and the understanding that her father realized was such a wholesome movie, especially when it came to the bow at the end. Plus the song that played: "Steal the Show" by Lauv 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞 That song is my happy place.

Fun Fact originally in the end credits when Ember and Wade return they were to originally have a baby with them made of steam but it was scrapped because the writers wanted the audience to settle with the characters first.

I watch this movie in theater with my mom, I am in my independence process, we are both very close and when Ember and her father bow, my god we both cried too much because we saw ourselves reflected in that scene. This movie became very special to me because, like Ember, I am in the process of deciding what to do with my life. I loved your reaction and yes, the water boy also seemed super cute to me🤭

The reason Ember and Wade were able to touch is because of something called the Leidenfrost effect, which is when something really hot like Ember well beyond the boiling point touches a liquid like Wade, it creates a layer of steam between them that acts like an insulator for Wade, keeping him from evaporating and Ember from extinguishing.

This is a gem of a film, and my favorite Pixar film in many years.
After disappointing misfires such as Lightyear & Strange World, as well as other disappointing flops over this past summer (such as Flash, Indy 5, and Ruby Gillman) it was refreshing that this film despite its slow start eventually had a huge comeback story over the summer.
I absolutely loved this film. I saw it twice in the theater, and countless times since it came to digital.
9/10 hope it wins tons of awards
This is what we need, more originality.
PS I feel the dam having constant leaks and not being maintained may have been a reference to the real life issues that occurred in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hit back in 2005. The proper maintenance was not done and what followed was an epic catastrophe

Well done, Monica! Nice watching the movie with you. The colors, the story, the romance, the slams on racism, privelege, all so good. I teared up, and cried just like you. I went to see it in the theater the first time, then five more times. When it closed I bought 6 of the BIG posters when they took them down, they now hang in my gym, then I preordered two sets of discs. The Pizza Planet truck is in there somewhere, fuzzy in the background.
I have followed commentary and so many panned it, saying it was a fanancial disaster at 200Mil$ to make. WHen I checked a couple weeks ago worldwide box office was 490Mil$, and it hadn't opened yet in Korea (where director is from) or Japan. Now, lets see what you did with Turning Red.

It’s perfectly okay to cry. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. It’s what truly makes you human. I think that’s what makes you very beautiful person in your heart because u wear your heart on your sleeve and see the beauty all around you.
I’m autistic but I’m also a very highly sensitive person that is super sensitive of receiving any criticisms including constructive criticisms and that I’m very highly emotionally intelligent, empathetic and compassionate of other people’s feelings and super tender hearted and sensitive as a person which makes me very different from a lot of autistic people that I have either met or have known.
I’m not gonna lie, this movie really made me cry. I couldn’t help but fall in love with Wade’s super big, tender and loving heart and watching him crying and get all emotional, made my heart melt cause i find that very endearing and super sweet. 🥹💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 Wade is totally like me in a way that I do tend to cry very easily at something beautifully touching, sad and heartbreaking or when people either cry or get angry and lashed out since I’m very sensitive of getting yelled, judged and criticized by some people. Plus I really hate to see other people go through a hardship like losing a loved one or struggling with depression or something like that. 🥺
