Skye from paw patrol the mighty movie had a comeback story she should have been in the title screen next to Nickelodeon speaking of paw patrol movie reviews when
I think the biggest thing that bugged me is that they never truly establish what fire people can and can't touch. Ember literally burned off an earth person's grass off their body, but 10 seconds later, she's holding a piece of paper just fine. Do they need to will themselves to not burn anything? Is it simply a matter of thinking "I will not burn this" and then it's fine? Like what the hell?
I think it is by will and their emotions. It's been shown in the movie that their fire gets stronger when they feel strong emotions. Ember was feeling startled and on high alert when she touched the grass person, if she was calmer, she wouldn't have burnt him completely. I'm pretty sure that according to the hand holding with Wade, there is an equilibrium. If she holds hands with a grass person, only the hand that touches her will be burnt.
@@yourmom66600 Yeah, I agree with you. There's another example to confirm this. When Ember receives the brochure from Fern, brochure can hold it in her hand without burning it. But in the Wade's home, when Gale calls them and says "Consider it done", Ember takes brochure to her hand. And to burn it, she focuses, inhales, her chest swells little and after all of these steps, brochure got burns. Not directly as soon as she touchs it.
The fact this movie's marketing was ABSOLUTE garbage but this movie succeeded in the box office is insane. Also I'm not trying to say "Oh I hate the movie blah blah blah" it's just they could've done better marketing the movie like making a character that is unimportant to the plot and has barely any screentime for your commercials makes the movie look like it's bad but the movie is still a good romance Pixar movie.
16:28 This HAS to be a metaphor for a war, right? Like an air elemental war/invasion into the firelands? But Disney didn't want to challenge the kiddos too much so they dumbed it down and down to be unrecognizable.
I feel like that ruins the metaphor even more; what sane parents disown their children for wanting a better life in a peaceful land? It seems like all elements share the exact same culture and traditions anyway. And it’s obvious Bernie and Cinder instill those beliefs and practices onto Ember. The only real issue is that her grandparents can’t influence/oversee any of their decisions.
Disney's big mistake was releasing the film in the most crowded June ever. There were so many other films that people wanted to see that Elemental flew under the radar. They should have pushed it to August, it would have done great then.
I think it should've came in May since summer was overflowing with hyped up movies and this movie coming out the same time as ATSV makes this movie look like a joke
Elemental is a movie that is fine for the first watch but becomes infuriating the more you watch it, from how the story goes, to it's worldbuilding and it's characters, everything ended up feeling half baked, the racism message, the government not doing anything allegory, the generational trauma part, even the love story between Ember and Wade felt really rushed and not fully fleshed like with Wall-e and Eve
Your right! Ember and Wade knew each other for a day then he falls for her when they were at the beach. It was too quick plus him crying often was a bit annoying. I had a hard time believing she really loves him. Ember spend a lot of time screaming at him saying stuff like '' You don't know me! '' it's clear she found him annoying but i guess one good action from him; saving the blue flame, was enough to loves him? Ok 🤨
I personally didn’t find it rushed at all. The only bad thing I have to say is that the marketing for the movie sucked but the movie itself was pretty good and I love the themes they used and I love the story overall :)
not to mention the PHYSICS, man. Fire-and-water-cannot-interact. CAN NOT! Damn them, it's not a state of mind, it's kitchen-level phyisics! They are elementals and yet they act like people with superpowers! Coherence, this unknown! Also: That city is basically made of glass, it's all over the place, so did they just use slaves? Why not press the issue of segregation? A city fire elementals helped building, and it wasn't even made of fireproof materials (and since they are elements they should be immune to asbestos poisoning as well!!). So what's the point in Elemental City? What mindf*ck conceived it? And if the other elements are so much in fear of fire and their temperamental explosions, why allow at all the existence of a whole community with literal explosive potential?!?!
And also the fact that the racism didn't need to be there, the movie had the chance to be relatable to all immigrants and failed at that by turning all of these occurrences into a race issue, when they aren't in real life. And honestly sends a pretty bad message,
I recently watched it and I don’t feel anything when watching it, some parts were rushed, and it was really predictable for me because there are certain scenes where I know what’s gonna happen next.
While I thought the movie itself wasn't that great, the background music was an absolute bop, and honestly I was so shocked by Wade dying that I just burst out into laughter and everyone in the cinema just started looking at me.
you know what this should've been? a short film... compress it to like 15 to 30 min, and it'd probably work just fine... in fact, from how it looks, I'm kinda thinking it *PROBABLY WAS* a short film project, that was just "upgraded" to full-blown production, with barely any changes, and because it was NOT written with the full length in mind, they really struggled to adapt it properly...also explains a lot of the weird parts, e.g. why there's a short flashback with basically no context, but it wasn't at the beginning...because in short form, you don't have time to have a long backstory on such barely-relevant stuff...and there wasn't anything they could think of fast enough, that didn't need reworking the entire plot, to change it... etc
I'm thinking something like, someone noticed a cool short story that had good feedback but not widely known, e.g. art degree final project or something (may or may not have been nepotism, but that's irrelevant), asked the people if they wanted to make a full-length version for cinema, they said yes without really knowing what it entailed, and had to do quite the rush job to get it done
If the only theme they wanted to touch on was race then I would agree, but too many people forget the second theme of the movie surrounding filial duties which cannot be squished into a short film along with the racial themes. I personally took more away from the theme around duty so I really liked how the movie played out, but those who have never experienced those pains before would easily look over it and then shit on the movie as if it wasn't there. Yes, there could be a separate short film for that, but I still think it needed the time and buildup to really hit home, and one of the points is that we don't always know why we're reacting certain ways to things that seem small, especially with a lot of other things going on in our busy lives. Taking the time to figure it out... we all need that.
This movie just does not make any sense plot-wise. It quickly goes from Wade attempting to get Ember's family shop closed down which could potentially destroy their entire lives and leave them with nothing to him suddenly feeling sympathy for her at the very last moment, tries to help her out, then suddenly falls in love with her and the movie turns into "will or will they not be able to be together due to different elements not being able to mix?" and hardly about whether or not they can save the shop so that Ember can run it one day which turns out to not even matter in the end because she wants to go off somewhere else and make glass instead. This entire movie I was like wth is even going on?
@@CalciumEnjoyer I understand he was doing his job, but he could have tried to compromise with her and find a solution so that he wouldn't have to write them up. Like any human being with one ounce of sympathy in them would.
@@onesweetangel1017 makes sense, although these aren’t human people water seems to have extremely amplified emotion, so wade would definitely try to compromise with something
@@onesweetangel1017It's implied they were breaking WAY more laws than just the faulty water pipe, and why should we expect Wade to risk his career and fail at his job for their career? You can't have it both ways. Wade was already irrationally forgiving and personable in that extremely unrealistic scenario
well in the real world you have lots of people whos job is to determine if a building is up to code as they can be hazards to people and their occupants; even if it means kicking them out it is their duty to make sure buildings are safe to operate within for the public and those inside the building.
To give Wade some leniency during the crying game, I took it as him just getting lost in the moment, showing by him talking about love in the attempt before moving onto confessing his feelings. He really is more of a do-er than a thinker.
27:58 Ember's talent in galssmaking/ art was shown a few times: the lolipop making in the beginning, the cloud-play during the date scene, and the glass ball on the beach 👀 it's just something she dabbled in bc pursuing art never crossed her mind but I'm glad to see someone also getting frustrated w/ wade's intro bc that was so frustrating???
yeah, ill be honest i loved Elemental but wades introduction did have me going "bru what a a**whole" but it's whatever. Elemental has it flaws but id say it isn't awfully terrible and still a great watch.
@@skyworksreferenceart8986 wade’s introduction definitely felt like a “we need to get ember to city hall for the plot to kick in” so they sacrificed wade’s likability there- but I don’t mind it bc it demonstrates his privilege in the way that he would think “you’ll just get a fine”
I’m very happy that Elemental was able to succeed down the line. It’s insane because it felt like all hope was lost. I think this is a sign that Pixar will have more hope in new IPs in the future
personally I think it's lame, as water can be so much more than just that look at the countless other shows that use elementals and elements most of the jokes are the same
@@iluvyurbles i agree with you. I'm tired of emotions based on elements is just so cheap. Enough with a dude who's always angry because haha he has pyrokinesis. Give me a kinda character with fire powers.
@@iluvyurblesI really don't mind it if it's done RIGHT while adding something new to the table, which it isn't. Most media with that stuff is pretty much just copy and paste.
My main problem with this movie is that it didn’t commit to Wade being dead. Like I know these movies almost never commit to killing off a main character, but I felt genuinely gaslighted. When the movie was acting like he was gonna die, I was like “Yeah sure. And they’ll bring thin back in some BS way immediately after.” So I sit there waiting and waiting for his sudden revival. Only for the movie to actually take his death seriously. I was taken aback. Thinking “holy shit they actually killed him off!” And just as I let my guard down. Just as I thought a family movie would actually kill a character off. The BS Disney magic kicked in and Wade is alive and well…..
It's not "BS Disney magic" in fact it's not magic at all, but a sience. Wades survival is all thanks to a little thing called condensation. Condensation is the process where water vapor becomes liquid. It is the reverse of evaporation, where liquid water becomes a vapor. Wades body being made of water, follows this same process
Tbh I was so happy (not in a "I hate this guy- type", but a oh wow no way- tyoe) that they made the last scene so emotional, only for me to feel bamboozled and betrayed that he isn't actually dead? Like no... i didn't felt relief that he was alive thanks to the scenes before and such. You know what I mean 😅
I've been concerned for Pixar ever since Lightyear was released. Don't get me wrong, the animation and visuals are pretty good. Clod got only 2 scenes in this movie, yet Pixar marketed tf out of that fertilized kid. I am impressed at their comeback though, I didn't know Wade's introduction was that bad though 😂
I'm not gonna be super defensive for this film, because I understand why it wouldn't work for some people but I'm genuinely glad it did work for many other people in a hard hitting way (myself unexpectedly included)
@@Werewolf.with.Internet.Access Sorry, I’m not ready to answer that question. I haven’t seen the film since it’s final day in theatre. Where I recall the Element City metaphor working for me and hitting me in the feels. I need to revisit the film and write down an analysis explaining how it works for me (because I don’t think I can explain in short text). I will post my answer as a review on my Letterbox (or even as a RUclips video) in the future.
Like this movies point is literally not being judgmental or harsh towards people because of where they come from or who they are in a cultural sense. Not to defend the horrible plot contrivances and weaknesses of the story, but the fact you got “segregation good” out of this is baffling 😭
Honestly the only part of the movie that piqued my interest was near the end when she was expressing her emotions about disappointing those who’s sacrificed so much for you. I’m a child of immigrant parents , the oldest at that so it did hit a bit on the whole not wanting to disappoint and not wanting to put those sacrifices they gave to waste.
The part about Ember not just taking and obliterating the notepad to avoid all of this in the first place is because Ember was convinced if she even slightly touched wade, she would just DIE and be put out immediately.
I hate the conflict of “do the glass art thing or stay at the shop” because they write it soooo poorly. First off, Ember, girl, your emotions aren’t trying to tell you that you “don’t want to run the shop.” You’ve been excited and happy to run the shop your whole life. Here’s a crazy thought: maybe you’ve been bottling up your anxiety about failing to run the shop for so long that it’s now manifesting in this anger? And all you STINKIN need to do is TALK TO YOUR DAD ABOUT IT??? Hmm??? *HMMM???* just a thought. And Wade’s family-they’re the ones who encourage her to pursue glass making, WADE is the one pressuring her to do it, she is shown to have 0 agency or desire to make glass art for a living, it’s all the Ripples. And the kicker is that argument she and him have near the end of the movie. “Why should anyone get to tell you what to do with your life?” Says Wade like the stupid, entitled, spoiled rich boy that he is. And then Ember makes the VERY mature decision to honour her father and take over the shop, despite her feelings, and HE HAS THE GAWL TO GET MAD AT HER?! Oh, I’m sorry Wade, but I thought NO ONE SHOULD GET TO TELL HER WHAT TO DO!! WHY ARE YOU CRASHING HER PARTY, BEGGING HER TO CHOOSE YOU AND THE STUPID GLASS JOB?!!?!? HYPOCRITE!! UUUUUUUgh it’s just so infuriating. And-plus-why does she have to leave to pursue glass art? If that’s genuinely something she wants to do-here’s a bright idea-MAKE YOUR OWN ART AND SELL IT AT THE SHOP!!! START YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!! YOU DON’T NEED TO GO ANYWHERE!!! CHART YOUR OWN COURSE, MAKE YOUR OWN PATH!!! Honestly, this whole movie could have been avoided if Ember had JUST. TALKED. TO. HER. DAD. FROM. THE. START. AND. WAS. HONEST. ABOUT. HER. ANXIETY!!!!
Its almost like her not telling her dad is the entire point. The person who wrote the movie is speaking from experience, where honour comes before honesty. It's similar to Turning Red in this regard, where you can't let your parents down. She also is based on asian culture, as THAT IS USUALLY ABOUT HONOUR AND RESPECT. The conflict is due to the fact that she CANT imagine talking to her dad about not WANTING to run the show because she clearly hates taking care of costumers.
@@Bobo-Nose She literally just gave her an option based on something she could tell Ember was having fun with. She checked if the school was taking anyone in and told her about it to let her know there is something out there she can do.
My girls went with their grandma to see this in theater and they loved it! They wouldn’t stop talking about it and kept asking when it’ll be in Disney+. Since it has we’ve watched it many times. I like it, don’t love it, but it’s cute and don’t mind it being played a few times.
Cinema Therapy: Wade is movie boyfriend of the year! He's so supportive and compassionte! Can't get any better than this, period! beaniiebrian: Words can not describe my hatred for this despicable, atrocious, disastrous excuse of a character! Loved your rants, man! They always make me laugh when they're justified. Never change! :D
I kinda wished the story was just an immigrant family that were actual humans and not just fantasy elements so Pixar and Disney can mask the real world to make it safe.
I think it works better in a duo surviving the unknown type of film that Fire and Water needs to work together to escape from a cave. Then a romance of Fire and Water.
It's a kids movie, they are going to be bored out of their minds. I personally think that they incorporated real life problem into something that kids can enjoy and understand
Then what’s even the point of having it animated if you’re just going to switch out the elements with humans? Then it’d just be cheaper to film it in live-action.
the movie really tugged on my heartstrings, the way wade and ember danced with the scenery in the background was so amazing. Im just glad they put it on Disney + because if they didnt I wouldve never watched it on the big screen (because of the marketing and the commercials). Elemental isnt a memorable movie like Cinderella or Snow White, but i did remember the two main characters names without looking it up even though ive watched it once so🤷♀. Though the love story is pretty generic (enemies to lovers) it was a very cute and charming movie.
Elementals was a movie I unfortunately couldn't see in theaters due to various movies being stuffed for the summer. But when I saw it on Disney+, I actually enjoyed it. It wasn't amazing as Toy Story, Inside Out, or Finding Nemo but it was DEFINITELY way better than Lightyear. That movie is one I will NEVER look back.
This is the third video I watch from you and I just love your style, opinions and humor. I can't wait to see more of your takes on animation movies, love your videos.
Really liked Elemental when i first watched it, but dear lord, i hate how much blame they put on Ember. So many of the issues were cause by other characters or their society. It feels so unnecessary and cruel, it gives me mixed messages for what it tries to do.
Apparently the movie was originally supposed to end with Ember and Wade having a baby made out of steam, but they changed their minds at the last minute
I would’ve liked to have seen that :) similar to Jack and Sally at the end of Nightmare Before Christmas, one of my favorite Disney endings of all time!
i saw someone suggest their child be lava so they can interact with water without being fully water but also interact with fire while still not being fully fire, like the struggles of a mixed kid
Im glad they changed it cuz the ending hits so fucking hard with her giving her dad the Bak-so and him doing it back to show that they fully respect and love each other, no matter their choices and what has happened
The thing that bugs me the most about this movie, is as someone whos a big fan of the httyd 2 movie, I cant help but see Ember in a bad light. Ember and hiccup bassically go through the same thing, not knowing what they want to be, and then feel pressured into taking over berk/the shop, by their fathers. Then their fathers are unable to continue providing and upholding something special from their culture for their community, Hiccups by death, and Embers by growing too old. Then there is the decision made that shows the difference between the two characters. Ember choses to abandon the shop and her countries legacy, in favour of a relationship. Hiccup however, sees the problem and how it would hurt his father and culture, and takes responsibility for both, regardless of what he personally wants. The thing is, this shows Ember as selfish, and shows just how selfless Hiccup of a character is.
It is weird to me how everyone is acting like Ember is so different by “breaking free of family expectations” and “following her heart” when there’s already characters like Hiccup who have done that already. I get what the movie is trying to say about family, honor, expectations, and all that, but it just doesn’t hit the same notes to me. So Ember goes off and becomes a glass maker and then when her dad eventually passes away, what happens to the shop he put so much of himself into? Guess he’ll have an apprentice he’ll pass it off to? Or Ember comes by and takes ownership? Or it gets bought out or destroyed to make room for something newer and better? Like, they established how much the shop means to the family but then the sole heir just goes off and does her own thing? It reminds me of my area where farmland that’s been with families for generations are being sold to developers by the kids because the kids want the money and not deal with the land. But it’s sad because that land was so beautiful and now those kids won’t have much to pass down to their own offspring. I’m really tired of the trope where a child goes off to pursue their own thing and pretty much leaving their family legacy behind. The ability to build, create, and own something that can be passed down is one of the greatest gifts someone can give to their family, present and future. Yes I get that things are not always pretty with family, but it still means something when past generations provide for their future generations and it’s up to present generations to make sure the chain continues. To your point about comparing Hiccup to Amber, yes Hiccup did want to back out and not claim his birthright as Chief. But when the time came to step up, Hiccup did so and continues to improve himself so he can build a place where his loved ones can find peace and freedom. That is definitely a better message about dealing with family expectations while trying to become the person you want to be. A balance that Amber just doesn’t seem to have character wise.
this is a horrible take its explicitly said that Ember is the dream embers growth and happiness was the goal all along bernie only knew how to run a shop though. shes not rejecting her heritage her entire character arc is coming to terms with that fact. she has her fathers blessing to move forward on her own path that she forges she will always be a fire person and her culture will never leave her there are no signs of her becoming "watered down" to put it in the movies terms. she becomes much more healthy and happy though. there is nothing selfish about wanting to not be trapped in a unhappy life.
I was watching this movie on a trans-Atlantic flight, and for as groggy and uncomfortable as I was, even I got weird vibes when Wade conveniently confessed his love during the crying game.
My biggest problem with this movie is how inconsistent the fire is. They can’t touch water yet ember holds hands with wade just fine so where did the water destroys fire problem come from. Does large amounts of water kill them and not small amounts.
Idk, maybe it’s being jaded by dumbed down kids movie in all movies now, but I actually really enjoyed Elementals, it’s not Pixar’s best, but it at least shows they aren’t ready to be shut down… I think the flood plot was dumb granted, so it took from other more important potential plot points, but it was a nice breath of fresh air when looking at the last few Pixar films.
yeah the flood part could have been better but it was pretty good all things considered. ill also say that I belive no matter how great or amazing a studio/production may be their will be a time when they have produced below the expectations of viewers; not saying that's ok but sometimes those expectations are so high it is hard to always please everyone and I think that's what happened with Elemental.
Tbh, the movie was only fun because I watched it with my boyfriend and we were making jokes about the characters all the time, saying Wade reminded me of him, and him saying Amber reminded him of me 😅
I feel the movie is great when its just focused on Wade and Ember, if the pacing was like 30 mins longer of just more Wade and Ember i'd love the movie far more
The wild cat hiding behind the tree waiting to crash was the first highlight to me, as I'm unhealthily obsessed with cats . Then when you did the house cat hissing part I lost it !! Cats for the win😅
This is literally one of my favorite movies of this modern era, it was such a breath of fresh air, and this will be one of the movies I deliberately have on hand for my kid
31:15 I just wanna mention that, by the movie's own rules, the flood SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE! What happened to the drain that clears the water from the boats?! Did it get clogged or something?! If it did, why didn't they tell or show us?! It feels like they just needed a 3rd Act Climax to happen so they could end the movie quickly.
Me and my family stopped watching the movie an hour in because we thought it was reeeeeaaaally boring. Then you tell me that's when it gets more interesting
You know what I'm getting tired of seeing directors/writers wanting to use an animated movie to tell there life story. As an artist I understand a artist incorporating aspects of themselves into there art, but my problem is when an artist becomes so fixated on telling there life story that they don't focus on creating a memorable story. If an artist wants to tell there life story I feel unless it's a unique/famous story they should hesitate to use it as to tell an animated movie. If there is one thing I try to avoid as an artist it's trying to retell my life in a story because it's better to save that for a biography rather then create a story inspired by my past. PS: To any artist reading this if you want to tell your life story I think the best way for you to do it is to do something use your own skills like write a song or biography. This only applies to artist who aren't rich enough to pay to have a movie or documentary made about there life or are famous enough that people want to make documentaries about them.
as an aspiring animator i was really confused but now i realize you mean the _creator's_ actual life story that they push more into their story instead of focusing on making it good.
This movie had GREAT potential to be good. But the limits it put on its self and the poor writing made it so weak. I never understood why anyone else liked it as much as they did. Never liked to judge others for what they like but at the same time, the love for this movie was as random as the storm that destroyed Ember’s parents house.
its weird how the subtext seems to make Wade come off as manipulative and such. Like if not oblivious. But that's not the point the film was making, that just happened.
It was mainly him crying all the time. I know he's a water element and apparently crying is just something they always do but all that crying is definitely a sign of emotional manipulation. However, like you said I'm sure that wasn't the film's intention.
I only watched this movie because my friend said it was cute. Watched it on Disney + late at night and I can't believe how nothing I felt towards it that I immediately moved on from it. Just so I ended the night feeling that I watched something that even slightly interested me, I watched Jennifer's Body right after and I felt more emotions seeing that. I really didn't know if Elemental just wasn't for me or if I had fallen out of love with Disney and Pixar and the latter just makes more sense now.
It's ok I get it I as well did not feel anything when watching this mostly bc their wasn't much chemistry between those two like honestly I also find it forced
Can I please just talk about how much I hate the character design? All of Wades, and how their limbs bend unnaturally. I know they're not people, but it's just so unsettling. And all the fire people look a little 2d while everyone else looks 3d
I actually enjoyed this movie way too much. Lately ive neen enjoying very simple stories. And they alos allow me to relax. Its not perfect of course. Neother was Luca or Turning Red (tho id say turning red is complicated movie) they are nice relaxing movies tk have a good time. And considering most movies nowadays feel like they need to handle all these modern problems, simplicity is hard to come by. Also the song is a JAM!!!
yeah Elemental was by no means a super complex and fleshed out movie but the simplicity of it's story seems to have given people enjoyment out of it's production.
I thought this movie was horrific. I thought a fire girl falling in love with a water boy was way too corny of a premise. You know how the Flintstones has rock puns. Replace rock puns with element jokes then crank them up to 9 thousand%. I also thought the writing was pretty bad. Why are fire and water elements able to hug. Because the plot says so. It has the Ralph Breaks the Internet problem of resolving a plot point off-screen. They make so much of the dam but they don't show it getting fixed on screen. Also, the allegory doesn't work when you have characters that can destroy something by touching it. At least in Zootopia, they explained the animals evolved so they don't eat each other anymore.
i watched it recently actually so this video is super on time for me! but i actually surprisingly really genuinely enjoyed it.. some parts felt annoying and kind of nonsensical. like embers emotions being kind of all over the place, wade lowk being an antagonist in the beginning making it hard to like him at first. the government being like almost borderline murderers?? like wdym your not going to help with the pipeline and why was WADE even in charge of asking ppl to fix it, especially as a favor.. and instead of their shop being shut down they should of received like compensation?( im kind of stretching with the last point but the rest remains,) overall letting water in the pipes of a majority fire area is like letting LAVA in ppls homes😭.
In a time where animated features (especially from Disney) avoid romance stories, Elemental was sweet. One of my favourite first charming lines from Wade came after Ember had repaired the wall with melted glass and he starts crying, "It's, I've just never been punched in the face with Beauty before." That made me laugh and smile.❤ Coming from a family with an artist, the line felt genuine and true.

It seems like all elements share the exact same culture and traditions anyway. And it’s obvious Bernie and Cinder instill those beliefs and practices onto Ember. The only real issue is that her grandparents can’t influence/oversee any of their decisions.
...but then everything changed when the Air nation attacked.
I view this as a metaphor for the Irish Great Famine in the 1800's. This is backed up by the name of the home country, Fireland.

@@Witchy_AlienI feel like earlier release dates are never a good thing, waiting longer could allow some extra tweaks and fixes to the movie/marketing
@@Witchy_AlienMay had guardians of the galaxy vol 3 and the live action little mermaid remake.
@@Witchy_Alien Worse than a joke. ATSV makes this movie look like a steaming pile of horseshit.
But you’ve gotta admit it’s better then most animated movies to come out this year
And also the fact that the racism didn't need to be there, the movie had the chance to be relatable to all immigrants and failed at that by turning all of these occurrences into a race issue, when they aren't in real life. And honestly sends a pretty bad message,
The animation is sooo beautiful yet boring simultaneously
I recently watched it and I don’t feel anything when watching it, some parts were rushed, and it was really predictable for me because there are certain scenes where I know what’s gonna happen next.

that last bit is amazing
you know what this should've been? a short film...
compress it to like 15 to 30 min, and it'd probably work just fine...
in fact, from how it looks, I'm kinda thinking it *PROBABLY WAS* a short film project, that was just "upgraded" to full-blown production, with barely any changes, and because it was NOT written with the full length in mind, they really struggled to adapt it properly...also explains a lot of the weird parts, e.g. why there's a short flashback with basically no context, but it wasn't at the beginning...because in short form, you don't have time to have a long backstory on such barely-relevant stuff...and there wasn't anything they could think of fast enough, that didn't need reworking the entire plot, to change it...
Wade was just doing his job, but ember forgiving him so quickly after almost getting her entire family in poverty was bad
27:58 Ember's talent in galssmaking/ art was shown a few times: the lolipop making in the beginning, the cloud-play during the date scene, and the glass ball on the beach 👀 it's just something she dabbled in bc pursuing art never crossed her mind

It was pretty obvious that they didn’t have the gall to permanently kill him off.
To be fair, it's a _romance_ movie. It's the requirement of a romance - a happy ending between the pair. Otherwise it's a romantic _tragedy._
The way he comes back makes sense,at least.

@@Werewolf.with.Internet.Access how did you get PRO-segregation out of this movie? Genuine question

The amount of rage they emmit is amazing. Truly an inspiration.
Wade's mom low-key gave her pressure too. As well-intentioned as it was, she signed her up to something without asking for Amber's consent.
I get what he saying but she's shown to have an interest in glass making throughout the movie
@@Bobo-Nose She literally just gave her an option based on something she could tell Ember was having fun with. She checked if the school was taking anyone in and told her about it to let her know there is something out there she can do.
@mii580 It doesn't matter, it's still wasn't her place to do that. Besides Amber was still trying to do better at taking over the shop.

So basically some generic, uncreative live action drama?
It's a kids movie, they are going to be bored out of their minds. I personally think that they incorporated real life problem into something that kids can enjoy and understand
You've heard of such a thing as a metaphor
Then what’s even the point of having it animated if you’re just going to switch out the elements with humans? Then it’d just be cheaper to film it in live-action.
You missed a big opportunity to say “you’ll be fine, just rub some dirt on it”
the movie really tugged on my heartstrings, the way wade and ember danced with the scenery in the background was so amazing. Im just glad they put it on Disney + because if they didnt I wouldve never watched it on the big screen (because of the marketing and the commercials). I wish this movie didnt so heavily rely on the whole "racism" part of the story to work. I did like the message of being your own person though
The director whose experiences this movie was based off of of would say the same thing.
It doesn't even work since fire is actually dangerous, and the plant people have a right to want to stay away and keep away
A balance that Amber just doesn’t seem to have character wise.
this is a horrible take its explicitly said that Ember is the dream embers growth and happiness was the goal all along bernie only knew how to run a shop though. shes not rejecting her heritage her entire character arc is coming to terms with that fact. she has her fathers blessing to move forward on her own path that she forges she will always be a fire person and her culture will never leave her there are no signs of her becoming "watered down" to put it in the movies terms. she becomes much more healthy and happy though. there is nothing selfish about wanting to not be trapped in a unhappy life.
can we just appreciate that Clod looked like a child and the fire girl like a young adult and he wanted to go out with her? Isn't that statutory??
Kids sometimes have crushes on adults, she appropriately rejects him, it is weird though
That's quite a naive take lol, considering Ember didn't give two shits about Clod

This only applies to artist who aren't rich enough to pay to have a movie or documentary made about there life or are famous enough that people want to make documentaries about them.

its weird how the subtext seems to make Wade come off as manipulative and such.
I don't think he's being manipul ative I t hunk it's just a trait that water people as a species natura lly share

Why are you so underrated my dude your videos are soo entertaining and funny I cry out of laughter 😂😂😂
Can I please just talk about how much I hate the character design? All of Wades, and how their limbs bend unnaturally. I know they're not people, but it's just so unsettling. And all the fire people look a little 2d while everyone else looks 3d
The king has returned
11:08 basically every beeping posters!
Pixars 30th movie HAS to be something special
I’ve been waiting 39393949 years for his video
NEW FAVORITE CANNEL YOUR CIONTENT IS SO GOOD
You are hilarious! Love your comments!
"It's paper f*** burn it!" "What the fnaf is this!?"
"Wade the manipulator!"
"F*** Claude!"
I love that openings, you made the best openings i ever saw
I can't stop laughing at 33:21 lol 😂😭
"Oh my gosh look! Another sequel!"
I died of laughter with that one.
I just realized the clump of dirt is a pace of earth person flesh
This has actually become one of my top 10 pixar movies just can connect so much with it
i watched it recently actually so this video is super on time for me! but i actually surprisingly really genuinely enjoyed it.. some parts felt annoying and kind of nonsensical. like embers emotions being kind of all over the place, wade lowk being an antagonist in the beginning making it hard to like him at first. the government being like almost borderline murderers?? like wdym your not going to help with the pipeline and why was WADE even in charge of asking ppl to fix it, especially as a favor.. and instead of their shop being shut down they should of received like compensation?( im
kind of stretching with the last point but the rest remains,) overall letting water in the pipes of a majority fire area is like letting LAVA in ppls homes😭.
Thought it was cute, wasn’t Shakespeare but put a smile on my face and got me in the feels a couple times.
Your videos are always entertaining to watch even tho you barely post
not only did the plot not make sense, it felt like it was a short film, it was paced too quickly for it to feel like an actual movie
35:35 interesting bc the guy who wrote Elemental was also part of Lightyear and The Good Dinosaur
And the voice actor of remy's brother from ratatouille
