Lesnar learned a lot between his first fight with Mir and this one. His first fight he came out full-speed and pummeled Mir but got trapped quickly. As a more experienced UFC fighter, you can see Lesnar's taking his time and probing Mir's defenses instead of going straight for bashing the crap out of him.
Little things on the ground too; not trying to just overbear him with size and strength but cautiously pushing and adjusting. Even the hand on Mir's throat so Mir is uncomfortable and not able to just look for things to grab. I was firmly on the side of you can't just jump into MMA from a standing start so I wanted Mir to win again honestly but what Brock accomplished was remarkable. I don't know if Brock was one of the strongest in the division of all time, but he impressed me for the time he was in the UFC. Even though he's been an athlete for a long time, its crazy to go into the deep end with a short fighting career like this. Not only that, but he fought really smart. He basically did what Stipe did to Francis in their first fight. He made Frank hold his weight and hit him while he held good position.
This is one of the most terrifying fights I’ve seen. It was like a gang attack, where they all hold your limbs down and then one of them repeatedly sledgehammers your unprotected face. Absolute nightmare position.
Based*Beerus* God-of-Seduction, do you think this dominant strategy of trapping the legs and while semi-headlocking into that face-smash position was only possible for someone as big and heavy as Brock?
@@EmperorsNewWardrobe Mostly. i think in a fight, anything can happen. 125lb women could do it, if opponent is gassed or unlucky enough to be in that very position. But yeah, the unusual size strength is definitely a factor. Same reason guys like Ngannou and Anthony Johnson obliterate people. Same tactics as others, just way more horsepower. Athletics/strength is def a tool..Mir is a BJJ blackbelt at 245 lbs.. Lesnars giant back is scary when spread out on top of you. Every single one of his short ground and pound strikes are SOOO strong, i could only imagine...This was also a grudge fight..pure malicious intent, from both guys tbh. Mir held that leg lock too long in first fight. He thought Brock was a scrub.
Based*Beerus* God-of-Seduction, I’m thinking specifically about the part where Brock puts his left arm around the back of Mir’s neck and then cranks it to the side by leaning his bully upper body to the side, forcing Frank’s upper body to turn sideways. Punch punch punch. Frank keeps trying to get his chest facing up but Brock keeps leaning to the side to turn Frank’s upper body. Do you know what I mean?
@@EmperorsNewWardrobe yeah, and i considered that in my response lol. a part of me thinks that frank also played it a little too "safe". he took heavy ground n pound in the first fight, and here he seemed too relaxed as if he were going to catch another leglock eventually..but Brocks strength clearly was the biggest factor (not complaining). it was also a smart, unusual tactic, to "hammerlock" like that. rewatch those strikes. hes angry AF and using that arm that can curl and delt raise an awesome amount of weight, im sure..
I feel like Frank should have lost their first fight too. If the ref hadn't screwed Brock over by stopping the fight for no reason. Bock would have smashed his face in just like he did here.
I'm also conscious that everyone missed the point though; he wasn't doing that because he was an extremely accomplished amateur wrestler. His striking was never spectacular standing but what he achieved is nothing short of remarkable
My favorite part is still the idiots in the crowd chanting "Stand them up" as Brock is bashing Frank's face in.

Even though he's been an athlete for a long time, its crazy to go into the deep end with a short fighting career like this. Not only that, but he fought really smart. i honestly think this might be one of the most dominant performances of all time in the sport; considering how high the stakes were too
Based*Beerus* God-of-Seduction, do you think this dominant strategy of trapping the legs and while semi-headlocking into that face-smash position was only possible for someone as big and heavy as Brock?
Fair play to Frank. Imagine having that huge slab of muscle on top of you like that for 2 rounds!

This guy has to go down as an absolute phenom. Who in the world comes out of absolutely nowhere and goes right to the very top of the game in this period of time! First UFC fight ever and you're up against a giant like Mir, a fight which even though he lost he was dominating. Then to come back and avenge his loss in this fashion! Just wow. The question will always be, what would Brock have been had he trained MMA from the outset, how far would he have risen. Surely he would've developed the all-round skillset to handle a prime Cain. Sad that we were denied that.
Lol chill. Even with his so-called "freak athletics", the dude was 5-3 and honestly should have been 4-4 if the Carwin fight was rightfully called in Round 1. This was maybe the best UFC card ever imo. It's my favorite any way. GSP VS Thiago Alves. Alves was wrecking dudes around this time. Then we got to watch another big mouth get knocked the fuck out to when Bisping got fucking smashed by that fastball windup overhand right from Hendo.
@@madgavin7568 why would someone lose a position over that, that’s stupid
@@Graciehunter32 Because that's for all intents and purposes death threat. Brock at the time was the biggest star in the UFC, and to say something like that to him was a big no-no. Either way, Mir shouldn't have went that far in trash-talking Lesnar.
Lesnar had very underrated grappling. He really controlled an excellent and dangerous BJJ guy and pulverized him easily here.
He also got submitted
@@robertsaladino Yes, but it was his second professional match. Even in that match, it gave him problems. It should not be forgotten. He escaped two armbar attempts. He evolved more in his fifth professional match. He is control him easy and made him look like a amatuer.
Robert Saladino you’re also an uneducated idiot
He’s a state champion wrestler
He won the NCAA Championship in college wrestling, and only had 1 loss his college career. He did all this in the toughest conference
They way brock just kept forcing frank into defenseless positions then beating on him just reminds me of a big brother bullying a little brother lol.
you see those short range punches make him vibrate , INSANE power!
I remember watching this fight...whats crazy is they seemed so old back when this fight happened but now I'm older than both of them at the age they fought this
This fight.... of all combat i ever watched, to see justice served to an ego heavy fighter like mir who did not respect what we all knew that huge machine was capable of, devistaing body control with natural power(plus roids lol), from the first time we saw him move in ufc after wwe.
To see him literally punch that look off his face was the best. Somehow he earned the nasty chest tattoo that night, in some small way
Shalom

Mir has tested positive a few times as well. Frank is far from natural
mir was 29 and lesnar was 31. wtf are you talking about. bitch.

The moment he walked away from the touch gloves i was like oooooooohhh
Everybody was like that hahahahaha
He would have touched gloves if frank mir didn't trash talked after their first fight😂😂😂😂
@@puskarthapa9014 Dubious. It's if Mir didn't trash him in the first fight.
@@zf5656 he got lucky in that one lol
@@battlerapking4646 Anyone can get lucky and KO someone; you don't luckily tap someone. You're an idiot if you think you will go into a fight without being hit, but to think that you would go into a fight, and be subbed based on luck, would be like your opponent winning the lotto. If you think that's what happened hear, you didn't win the cognitive lottery. I know it's more complicated that all of that, but only to a relative degree.
Brock Lesnar was a beast in the UFC! Really enjoyed his run and he helped the UFC grow, a true mega star 🙌👏🎉
How to watch a free full fight: wait 11 years until it's posted on RUclips.
Worth the wait 😂😂
I am not a fan of wrestling.. But I have to admit, Brock Lesnar stood toe to toe with some VERY scary opponents. He's got my respect.
I remember watching this grudge match live and it's just as satisfying today as it was then. Brock promised to turn Frank's face into "hamburger hill" and he didn't disappoint. You can really see how far fighter's ground game has come in the UFC since then.
I've never seen a ground and pound better than this fight.
@@deleting.chanel khamzats gnp is impressive but obviously its not against the champion of the division so its different
@@Ev_box I'm a fan of Khamzat but no fighter in MMA history has done what Lesnar did in this fight. He could've killed him with that relentless ground and pound.
Which is made all the better by Mir claiming Lesnar's punches were more annoying than impactful leading up to the fight. I think he compared it to a little kid jumping on your back.
Then this happened.
Cain vs Silva
7:50 "YOU FCKIN SUCK!" - Brock 💀💀💀
Brock put on a show in this fight. Top 10 all time. Some of the best wrestling ever in the heavy weight division. The way he trapped his head and fed him punishment was fakn glorious! This is Brock's absolute prime fight.
And he did it to Frank feckn Mir!
I like how Herb was saying “Let’s work Brock!” as Brock was turning Frank Mir’s face into a dropped lasagna.
He said when no punches were thrown
Herb is a garbage ref, he stops the fights 10 punches late. Mir's head was turned and he was completely defenseless and still Herb let him take 5 or 6 more devastating ground and pounds
@@DigOleBickInya yh talk about a late stoppage, I expect way better from a ref with his experience
David Cooper he was eating punches like that all fight, he hesitated because Mir put his hand to block some of the blows which would be considered a defensive move. It’s hard to tell when someone is laying down and being covered up like that all fight exactly how much damage is being done. It’s easy to say after we watch a replay of it 5 times and in slomo, but real time it happened in about 3 seconds and the ref was a bit conditioned to it as it happened all fight except this time a finish was involved.
@@keyton1928 yh thats rubbish. That was so many unanswered strikes that he took to the head. Just because his hands were up doesn't mean he blocked them
Say whatever you want about Brock Lesnar and his overall MMA career. As far as this fight goes, DAMN did he put a whoopin on a champion's ass. Frank Mir got the shit kicked out of him.

This fight is cool and everything but my favorite Lesnar fight is the Carwin fight
The Carwin vs Mir fight was nasty too, when Carwin was on top of Mir just pounding on the back of his head while Mir was out cold while Dan “Steve Mazzagati” Mirgliotta watched on lmao
@@SliceofBread123 that was brutal

Brock really got his redemption against Frank Mir, and this is the best rivalry between these two that they ever faced in UFC history…What a win by Lesnar.
Brock is the perfect example of being introvert and deadly at the same time. Never mess with a guy who hates being around people.
At the same time, he's a natural showman. He projects carisma and raw energy. There's no comparison between him shouting ridicolous catchphrases in a mic and any other heavyweight before or after awkwardly mumbling into the mic
At what point did people decide 'introvert' means 'hates being around people'? That's a misanthrope you fool.
What ? Introvert has nothing to do with hating to be around people.
I never realized being a social butterfly was a prerequisite for being a badass either.
I'm an introvert myself and I don't like being around too many people cause I ain't that interactive, so is Brock.
