    He’s acting weird cuz in almost every moment he’s saying or doing exactly what he thinks and on top of that trying to fight against it. That’s the hilarious part!

    If you're still in a court movie mood, I'd echo the recommendation of "My Cousin Vinny." Not only is it very funny, but even law schools use it as a good example of effective courtroom practice.

      That pen scene, all by itself, would probably qualify as one of the Top Ten funniest videos ever put on RUclips, if it was simply just that, and nothing else. Jim Carrey would still have to do it, though, because literally nobody else (other than probably Robin Williams) could match that energy level.

    As a kid who’s parents divorced, I kinda related to this movie, except the roles reversed. My mother is the crazy one (I still love her so much) and my dad didn’t really do much of anything, and quickly got into relationships, of which were healthier than my mother.

    My favourite Jim Carrey film will always be *The Mask.* Highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it, that would also include the cartoon series. Ace Ventura is a close second.

    This movie will always hold a special place in my heart. Back then, my family had moved 3 times in the previous year and a half, two of which were to the opposite side of the country. I was having a really hard time in school. I was also a huge Jim Carrey fan. So my mom took it upon herself to call me out of school so we could see this in the theater

    This is one of Jim’s best roles. The movie is fast with the jokes and most land quite well. Still funny every time I rewatch it. Still tugs the heart strings every time too. So it really hit it out the park for what it set out to do.

      It's his best job ever. Nothing before, or since, really even matches it. "Ace Ventura" comes close, but... still a close second place, to me.

      I love how it's Carey Elwes who plays that "dorky stepdad" role. Because we all know that Elwes is a much better actor than that, and he probably knows it also. But for him to voluntarily just play this complete DUNCE for two hours on screen is a big leap for him. I actually gained more respect for Carey Elwes after this movie, than I ever did after any of his other performances.

      People love to use the word “cringe” these days. I saw this movie as a kid so maybe I have the rose glasses on but I never once thought of any part of this movie as cringe, only as hilarious.

Jim Carrey is one of the best (Over actors) in existence and I have been watching him for 34 years, never once cringed from his work.

    After he did the claw to his kid the kid said that his dad was gonna take him to see wrestling. Jim Carreys dad used the claw on him when he was little, his dad probably got it from the finishing move of wrestler Killer Kowalski.

    If you enjoyed this, then I recommend the Jim Carrey movie Yes Man. It's a similar kind of "high concept" movie, but with no supernatural stuff, and the performances are a *little* toned-down compared to this. Also, it has an outstanding supporting cast, including the wonderful Rhys Darby.

    I like to judge actors by how much they are me despise them and I gotta say, Jennifer Tilly is a phenomenal actress because I absolutely loathe her character. She was so realistic too because there are countless women in the real world who are exactly like her and abuse the court system, which clearly has a bias against men, for their own selfish gains.

    I remember seeing this in the theater with a couple of my cousins when I was…however old I was when it came out. Really enjoyed rewatching it with you.
    The blue pen and the boardroom roast are two of my favorite comedy scenes from the 90s.

    If you're ever interested in a courtroom drama based on real events I would highly recommend Amistad by Steven Spielberg. The "true" story of a group of enslaved africans fighting for their freedom, first onboard the ship and next in the american court system. Incredible performances by Anthony Hopkins, Morgan Freeman, Mathew Mcconaughey but the performance by Djimon Hounsou is one of the most powerful I've seen. Also is the film debut of Chiwetel Ejiofor.

      Good Film!!!BUT to me the BEST courtroom drama by FAR would have to be "And Justice For All"!!!Starring Al Pacino!!!He was nominated for an Oscar!!!But I think lost to Robert DeNiro in "The Deer Hunter"???Al Pacino delivers THE GREATEST MONOLOGUE IN FILM HISTORY!!! in that film at the end as part of his opening argument.I mean WOW!!!

    No one ever seems to bring up the fact that her husband offered the woman $2.4 million (or whatever it was) EVEN THOUGH him and his attorney had that audio tape up their sleeve seemingly from the off. Like I suppose it's never established at what point they had gained ownership of the microcassette which contained the incriminating evidence ..
    I mean logically speaking it would of HAD to of been AFTER the offer of a settlement if you really think about it. But regardless either he was given EXTREMELY POOR legal advice somewhere along the line or he is like the NICEST GUY EVER. Because MOST people wouldn't of offered her shit if they had that tape at their disposal!!
