It has taken only 11 years for me to find a modded Skyrim video that lists all the mods, and with links to each one, doesn’t bombard me with ads, doesn’t spend the first 5 minutes telling me to subscribe after showing me the sponsor, isn’t clickbait, with an over-the-top ENB with so much vibrancy that you’d think the game was directed by Disney.

    When I saw him standing before the Whiterun gate this weird nostalgic feel hit me right up. When I first started playing Skyrim, exploring this whole new world not knowing what around the next corner or what kind of people would await me in this next town/village that I'd enter, it just gave me this certain feel I cannot quite grasp. I feel like I was able to perceive it differently than I do today and just now I got a glimpse of that feel again which was quite bittersweet. If I ever get to play TES6 I dearly hope that I would feel like that again and if so I will cherish it as long as possible.
    I don't know if anyone knows what I'm talking about but one thing that I so loved in Skyrim was the silence.. You can just stand there in wood or on a mountain or a hill and just take in the environment. It felt so Immersive. Just standing there in the moonlight looking around. No sounds, just taking in the landscape and then one of the soundtracks set in so seamlessly and not at all intrusive. It was fun and it made me feel cozy and so comfortable. Exploring Skyrim on a Saturday night in the dark was like reading a good book infront of the fireplace.

    I love how tired and worn out Jarl Balgruuf looks considering he'd be under INSANE stress due to the war and of course the dragons. However I really wish there was a mod that adds a unique crown for every Jarl and furthermore a mod that changes the AI of their court wizards so that they stand next to their jarls during the day like real advisors would. Lastly a mod that adds a unique jester and bard for every Jarl would be really awesome as well because they'd absolutely have such servants to provide entertainment for them to alleviate stress. Oh yeah I also remember there being a mod that changes the AI of the Jarl's guards so that the player can't unsheath their blade while in the Jarl's presence as it is considered a crime but unfortunately the mod is pretty buggy ugh. Obviously these are minor additions but combined add insane levels of immersion, I wish I was a mod author so that I could create such mods because at least to me the smaller details matter just as much as the big ones.

    I rarely make comments on youtube videos, but I gotta say, you did an amazing job with the presentation. All "Skyrim with X mods" videos I've seen don't bother explaining which mod does what, they just give a mod list in the description, if that. You made a categorical breakdown, gave alternatives, and kept it simple all the while. I've ran heavy modded skyrim playthroughs, and I know how hard it is to keep it simple and understandable when recommending mods to someone else. @Jeremy G Aw man, welcome! I just bought Skyrim for PC after having owned it for PS3, Xbox One, and Switch, specifically because it occurred to me that I'd only ever used the Xbox mods and that when it was first introduced. I've been modding Morrowind for almost 2 decades and it remains my favorite Elder Scrolls game and modding community, and have modded setups of Daggerfall, Oblivion, Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4, and a few others. It elevates gaming to a whole new level and becomes for many more engaging than actually playing the vanilla games. I highly recommend learning how to mod properly by using Mod Organizer 2 as your frontend and interface; it has a significantly higher learning curve than most others but it implements a virtual folders system while also enabling you to save multiple modded instances of the same game. The virtual folders are obviously distinct from your Skyrim installation, so that you are never actually overwriting or removing anything of the base game, but rather when launching the game from within MO2 you are overriding them. This way, should you make any mistakes, you don't have to painstakingly narrow down your errors or worse, uninstall and reinstall the game. You simply activate or deactivate mods from within MO2 to troubleshoot. It works with mod packages and those with installation executables, can host third party programs such as those that auto-sort your mod load order or run script extenders, can install a mod that reactivates Steam achievements (which running any mod will deactivate otherwise) and launch the game through Steam using the script extender. It also has a highly customizable interface which makes large load orders easy to categorize, shows right away any potential or actual mod conflicts, shows which mods are being partially or entirely overwritten by others, etc. It is a fantastic tool that prevents profound headaches that I learned about the hard way, and is relatively user friendly once you begin to comprehend what you're doing. Just cannot recommend it highly enough. Take care and good luck!

      @@PLTakeMe You are overcomplicating it. They are talking about when a game gets a bad rap for having "bad graphics". This used to be a big deal, the whole AAA industry were trying to make the most convincing simulation in a realistic style. It got really expensive to make games that way. In the 2000s, BotW would've been lampooned right away for its graphics just like Wind Waker was. I am going on this trip down memory lane because you sound like you are young and weren't around to see it.
      Nowadays graphics are more commonly stylized and not trying to have a realistic style. But Skyrim is a realistic style game, and TES as a series is one of the deepest simulations in a gaming, even giving NPCs routines to follow as the day/night cycle passes and letting you explore nearly any building. If you are worried that they are talking shit on the game designers, don't be. We should judge the game based on how well it achieves the things it set out to do. And it does them well. It's just hard not to want MORE and that's what the mods are doing!

      @@noaag tbh ive never found anyone complaining about stylised graphic in games, it is stupid af so if that was what he was saying then i agree, but about vanilla skyrim being immersive? Yes if u are not into medieval, if u know anything about it form castles to weapons skyrim is stylised into goofy realism (as if u could say that fps game where u can destory tank by shooting it with gun is immersive)

    • @noaag
      @noaag 2 года назад +2

      @@PLTakeMe Yeah, a lot of realistic type stuff gets left by the wayside when you are trying to make a fun video game. In medieval times, many warriors would be using spears in battle. Spear is OP. No spears are in Skyrim probably because you would end up turtling in fights and it could get boring. Just like how everything is unnaturally close together in the world, but it feels great to explore.
      I like you described it with "goofy realism" because there is actually a genre called Magical Realism. That's when magic stuff happens in the ordinary world. Elder Scrolls is High Fantasy, though, because it is chock full of magic and fantastical supernatural stuff. So I think you're right that Skyrim more about "immersion" than "realism".
      Since you seem interested in medieval stuff, I think you should check out Kingdom Come: Deliverance. It's a REALISTIC medieval game with no magic or elves or any of that. It plays a lot like Skyrim but with some ineresting twists, like having 5 directions to attack from. You are just a peasant in 1400s Bohemia who gets his village burned by an evil warlord, so you become a knight and seek your revenge. It is fucking awesome!

    No matter how much Skyrim is modded it is showing its 2011 age. The shadows, the lighting is all very ancient graphics. The only way to fix this is with a modern updated version of an Elderscrollls game that supports all of the newer graphics features since 2011.
