This is more like Special Forces Mortal Kombat...Not the better version 😂
@TrueUnderDawgGaming do you think Mortal Kombat 12 trailer reveal is still on track for April?
Am I the only person who loved evil Liu Kang in legacy season 2?
You know mortal combat was based on bloodsport ? You know the movie where John Claude van dam Goes to a secret tournament Were the world's greatest fighters in Hong Kong and the 1980s. And if John Claude van damn wanted to make the game mortal komabte wouldn't even exist.
No matter how bad it was Michael Jai White was an amazing cast as Jax
sooooooo true hanzo too
@@drmugglesfgc2541 he was the perfect scorpion. Too bad he took the job at the time.
I totally agree..he did an amazing job
He was much better as spawn!
@@therealsaint359 oh he killed it as Spawn
Whoever said "How bout we turn Reptile...into a human" should be black listed from Hollywood XD
And not even give him a ninja costume in that human form?
If you’re reading this, just wants to let you know, I can’t wait for your MK9 sucks video
Cmon, why the hate? Its a good concept. If it had so many views and good response means it was loved.
The Age where everyone wanted a whole lot more surrealistic approach Christopher Nolan tone and aesthetic with the Batman Begins & The Dark Knight. (Including the Underworld Movies and various films)
To me this koncept Mortal Kombat will be my
Favourite.
Nowadays in 2023 certain concepts like this are now greenlight ideas for streaming services like Netflix, Max, paramount and/or primetime show on cable.
Mk1 be like
You’re idea of Bi Han being severely injured by Scorpion and turning himself into a cyborg with ice powers is cooler than it just being Kuai Liang.
The cyborgs are corny. Ninjas over cyborgs.
Cyborgs are overdone
@@sub-negrodacryomancer7372 I agree with that the cyborgs are overused but I might be saying this because I hat Cyber Sub Zero
*hate
@@SkulKidSoraTroll11 I hate scorpion. Should've made him a cyborg.
Michael Jai White as Jax and the girl who played Sonya were perfect casting.
I know it's much maligned, but I actually liked their take on things. Of course I prefer the actual MK canon but this was a nice re-imagining. Michael Jai White was good casting as Jax. When I first saw him in the 90s, I thought he should play Jax.
I have to agrega I liked the more realistic approach
@@Alexczywell thin the elastic take was t experienment shat suay then modern take on mortsl kombat in moden era
Although it's a new take, I actually enjoy how much it tries to be grounded and feel different from the norm.
But Cage dying to Baraka is a crime
And baraka…. Not looking like baraka…. Seriously wtf was this????
It’s crazy to think this was a popular trailer when this first came out
I was so excited when I saw this trailer...... now looking back I was just a stupid teenager lol
It was a great concept. It helped revive interest in mk.
@@tlbryant4697 lmao man same and I didn’t even end up watching it 😂
COME AT ME BRO
I like Kitana/Mileena’s fight from Legacy and the triborg episode. I even like the story behind Liu Kang going heel.
Yeah, Liu Kang losing hope in humanity actually felt plausible, especially after Kung Lao turned his back on him.
@theoutlawking9123 Liu Kang and Kung Lao seem to had their role reverse in Legacy.
Scorpio failing to kill sub zero resulting him to make give him cybernetic enhancement makes a thousand times sense then dude
To be fair to Johnny Cage dying, between MK3 and Armageddon he died like 5 times to the point where one of his in-game bios mentions him being annoyed at his current movie being one called "Mortal Kombat: The Death of Johnny Cage" where he keeps dying and being ressurected
The skin disease Reptile plot sounds like a new main character for a Mortal Kombat Legends movie about Zaterra, but even though everyone on Earth thinks it's a skin disease, it's actually because the character is a Saurian, and Reptile comes to him in Disguise as a human to bring him to fight for Zaterra or some crap like that.
Honestly, it just reminded me of Killer Croc.
This Cyborg Sub-Zero kinda looks actually, like if UltraTech tried to combine Glacius's DNA with a Human in order to create a counter to Cinder.
I honestly was surprised at how popular this was when it came out. People gave it so much hype. Meanwhile i was like... WHY?
Maybe it's because it had Michael Jai White and Lateef Crowder?
because it was brutal just like the games
@@GhostNz-td5wq One the few things they got right.
Soon as I saw "Reptile," I paused the video and left a like because I'm closing this tab LOL
Honestly this would have been a better way to go than the Mortal Kombat movie we just got. That was refreshing the Mortal Kombat movie we got was a disappointment
Yeah, I can honestly say, I'd prefer this to the film focusing on the random studio mandated character we got. I sat through that film thinking that the film started with Sonya as the main character but some studio exec forced his fanfic self insert character in. Plus people hated Reptile's showing so much the director went and said it wasn't him despite Shang Tsung using his real name in the film right before his scene.
It’s crazy how bad this is, considering as a child when I saw this I was soo excited, me and friends used to discuss it all the time in school.
I don't think it's "bad" as much as it is "old"... definitely agree it helped generate some interest in MK again.
@@upwrdsprl na it’s definitely bad
I was so hyped for this. ANYTHING was an improvement over Annihilation. But I was genuinely interested to see where this might have gone.
I'm less a fan of Legacy, but glad it came around.
Nice Onaga reference in the beginning.
You just simply love to see it. 😂🔥
I personally was looking forward to Rebirth I thought the trailer was cool af and legacy was good in it's own way as well, I'm actually gutted they filmed the 3rd series and just never released it... I really wanted to see that showdown with evil liu kang and kung lao
I actually didn't mind rebirth. Helped made Legacy a thing (which us underrated). Annihilation was and still is the worst lmfao
Also shout out to the guy who played Baraka, dude is a Capoeira King
Despite it's cheese, Annihilation is more accurate to the source material than Legacy or even the 2021 movie. I'd watch it any day over those others.
*IT HAS BEGUN!*
@@EndoScorpion ehh, they smashed MK2, MK3, And UMK3 together horribly. Don't get me wrong though, Annihilation still has a home in my heart for its outstanding amounts of cheese lmfao
Didn't he also play Eddie in the Tekken movie? Or am I thinking of someone else?
The new 2021 movie is worst than annihilation
I thought this was a fan film and no one ever talked about it for years.
As an alternative version of MK, inside this more “realistic” take idea, they actually made some cool concepts, not all and they’d probably not be well executed, but reptile, scorpion and subzero are kinda cool concepts, but baraka for example would work better if Shang Tsung was actually the one responsible for making surgeries on assassins and then creating baraka.
Mortal Kombat Annihilation: The Worst Video Game Movie Sequel
Mortal kombat snow blind the best movie trilogy
@@evanlif no...
@@randombalkaner4363 I meant decent in the trilogy first was okay second was bad and third was decent
@@evanlif now that's true.
It was alright
MK Rebirth is amazing
Basically outworld doesn’t exist in the Rebirth film. That just explains the characters and how they look and the meaning of their existence.
Want to make Mortal Kombat realistic? Here's the secret: Make the characters more fleshed out and feel human. Give them actual emotions, thoughts, likes, dislikes, etc. Take inspiration from something like Lord Of The Rings or Dune or Game Of Thrones. Realistic, yet they're grounded through the characters, not the world becoming like The Dark Knight.
I enjoyed this Mortal Kombat rebirth trailer more than the last Mortal Kombat movie
Me too, and I just rewatched it to see if my memories were wrong. Every actor cast in this short is miles better than anything in the other live movie crap, the last movie was horrible
True
To be honest, no matter how you put it, this short film or should I say teaser trailer was amazing. It was only an introduction to the idea of what it will look like to bring Mortal Kombat into reality & only because we’ve seen the little bits & pieces they showed us. It doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be good coming from an artist & a person that creates stuff I have theories & ideas that go well with this as well, just like we got with the newest Mortal Kombat Movie , Yes, the new Mortal Kombat movie was definitely rooted In reality, they gave us pieces of fantasy from the video game comic books, that we love so much & the short film did exactly that, we just didn’t get a whole hour & a half into it so with that being said, you may have gripes about it, but understand that if this had more money put into it & more time it will be the exact product of what we got with all the characters that were presented in the small piece piece.
I remember watching the series on RUclips. The cyrax and sektor scene/chapter was pretty cool.
Yeahh
Everything else too compared to the other live crap, this guy is just making shit up
Didn't one of the writers for Legacy go on to write the 2021 movie? There's no wonder it sucked.
That's the problem with Hollywood these days, they hire writers and directors that actively hate or want to completely change the source material. And it's not like they make up for that with talent either.
You Tripping this trailer was 🔥. I wanted to see the full movie
wow this is actually nostalgic i remember watching this when i was like 6 or 7 good ol times
...I quite liked Rebirth 😂
You missed the point of this fun reimagination…this is ALSO the same director who did 2 seasons of MK legacy
WTF? I don't see what is bad with this short they just transfer mk characters to a more "realistic" approach is not as bad as mk annihilation or mk 2021 . Yes is nothing like the games but it has personality at least and has good cinematografy for a fan made
Making a video game movie that is “Nothing like the games” has zero reason to exist. That’s like adapting a book into a film that is nothing like the book.
@@spidersplicer9975 yeah i could be wrong but this is just a short and look the Nolan movies are nothing like the cómics and work well . In my opinión adapt something without something new to offer is alway worst than take risk like the last airbender movie which is basically the first season of avatar with real people
Fake Fan
😂
@@facundocremaschi3188 The Avatar movie wasn't bad because it was "just like the first season". It was bad bacause it was poorly written, had lame dialogue, bad acting, uninteresting fight scenes and the bending was boring af. It lacked any of the charm of the animation. Trying to condense a seasons worth of story into a movie was the least of it's problems.
Also, the Nolan Batman movies are overrated. Only good thing about them was Ledger's performance, and that's a credit to Ledger himself, not Nolan or the writers.
The once rebirth film turned into Mortal Kombat Web SERIES known as Mortal Kombat Legacy
"Realism" is not absence of fantastic element. Realism means rendering said element most logical and believable, so believable you coud close your eyes and imagine it happen right now, with close to minimum suspencion of disbelief.
I honestly didn’t think it was bad at all 🧐, it was refreshing and definitely something new & different and the fighting was better than the recent movie. 🤷🏾♂️
Usually am on track with everything you say BUUUUT as a hard-core MK fan, this was a very good twist in order to make a slightly realistic mk
UnderDawg i never heard of this movie why u gotta do this 😭
alright here's the thing
for one, it wasn't a hollywood thing, Kevin Tancharoen did this as a pitch to Warner Bros because he had the vision of making a more realistic MK film. which you have to factor in several things
for one The Dark Knight was fucking HOT and for awhile everything needed to be more realistic and gritty. thats what was popular at the time.
which brings us to my second point, you know what wasn't popular at the time? Mortal Kombat. MK was pretty much dead in the water as a property at this point. It was 4 years after Armageddon, the series had ran its course for the time being. It was not in the minds of anybody but the core MK fanbase. When creating a movie adaptation its not just fans of the franchise who are factored into the big picture.
a year later yeah MK9 dropped and revived public interest in the series
I think yeah, i can understand if you're a hardcore MK fan you might be offput by the attempt, and Baraka is kinda dumb. But Reptile being a harlequin baby who actually grew up (Harelquin babies usually die like days after birth, although in recent years there have been a few who lived to adulthood, with the longest living one dying at 51) is a neat way to put his character in a based in reality type project.
Essentially what Rebirth was, was an attempt to pitch an idea and show that Mortal Kombat could still be viable for films and because of the attention the short gained we got Mortal Kombat Legacy by the same creators. As a cool short film project i appreciate it, but ultimately yeah i dont think this could work as a full feature.
So basically the Twisted Metal Black version of Mortal Kombat
I’m glad this movie was canceled but part of me would be interested to see what it could have been.
I mean there is that triborg scene ... that's cool
If you think this movie would have been worse than the newest movie where raiden just lets kung lao die for no reason and all the other crap they did in that movie youre crazy at least they came up with interesting ways to explain the characters in the real world like baraka being a plastic surgeon that went crazy
It wasn't without its merit, kinda gave off a twisted metal black vibe. Yes, it was dog doodoo, but if it was lead in to a 10 dollar spinoff that takes place inside the mind of an insane grief stricken insane scorpion. Actually nevermind, I'm just going to replay twisted metal black
Worst movies in mortal kombat:
1. Mortal Kombat Rebirth
2. Mortal Kombat Annihilation
3. Mortal Kombat Battle of the Realms
4. Mortal Kombat Scorpion Revenge
Best:
1. Mortal Kombat 1995
2. Mortal Kombat 2021
3. Mortal Kombat Snow blind
Snow blind was good but battle was bad? Idk chief
@@xerospades They overloaded the story with too much plot and story lines, bad fights..
The worst is "Mortal Kombat: The Journey Begins" 🤮
@@NataliaJuliaNowak Is that a movie?…huh…i will check the database
@@TheBatmanSmith It's a cartoon.
I actually liked rebirth if it had the budget it would’ve been good
Jesus in heaven...that tatankian guy really needs to come back and finish this!! It was frekin. Great!! MJW as Jax!? Jerri Ryan as Sonya!!?? It was perfect!!!
So they made mortal kombat but it's literally MORTAL kombat
I truly don't understand the people who want to make everything in media "realistic" especially in regards to adapting video games.
With that said, I do like that Cyborg Sub-Zero design, it looks like it could be a boss fight from a horror-action style game.
In other words, Reptile is now Killer Croc……………..but nerfed.
just wanna say Jeri Ryan would have been the best Sonya Blade ever
Say it with me louder for the people in the back - - - - NEW INTERPERTIONS ARE FINE AND DO NOT EFFECT EXISTING ONES. God this was mostly him gatekeeping
I don’t think it was a bad idea. Way better than annihilation 😂
Y'all remember the Machinima episodes!? Amazing.
I remeber when they had this come ouyt each week episodically....I liked it. Especially Michael Jai White as Jax.
To be fair; they never intended this for the public. They did it for the execs, to show them that it is possible and literally nothing more. Because of it, they funded Legacy, which I thought was damn impressive for what it was.
Kinda crazy how this trailer still has done big actors in it, though.
Mortal Kombat: Rebirth set the tone for Mortal Kombat: Legacy.
it was actually entertaining the kitana and mileena story had something going and it was better than annihilation by far 😆
Is it bad that I wanna see this as like a fully fleshed out movie, it doesn’t need to have the mortal kombat name attached but this movie looks like it would be gory and disgusting which is something I’d definitely watch
Honestly, I was actually curious on how it would have turned out if this Immortal Combat movie went forward.
I want to see all different versions of any IP I like. I love Star Wars, and Star Wars Visions consist of nothing but 'different' visions of Star Wars but I still love it. I want to see new takes on something and see what sticks. It doesn't take away from the original, it just keeps it fresh and in people's minds. This was definitely influenced by the Batman Begins movie that also did realism well at the time, and I'd love to see more shorts like this. Let's see a Street Fighter version of the MK Fighters, let's see a cute looney toons version of them doing fun, animated fatalities. Give them all to me I look forward to seeing them. Thinking outside the box and trying new ideas should never be frowned upon.
Finally. Annihilation can get a break from the hate bandwagon.
And somehow the failed surgeon Baraka, knows capoeira😭💀💀
Jesus Christ dude, a 2 minute+ ad on a 10 minute vid?
The Power Rangers Darker tone fan made trailer still wins.
I'm a sucker for Alternate Universes *if* they're done right, this one had potential but the minute you dissect it it kinda fells flat; with a little more time invested on the writing it could be amazing.
I guess the best way to present this for a hardcore MK fan is to say that it's a pilot for _MK Special Forces the Movie...._
And the best part is - that trailer was far better than all the movies they put since that time. At last it was something original. And what we got? Generic hero in MK universe. Ot another story mode bullshit time travel. Yeah…that was waaaay better aye? XD
Lmao no, I'll take MK 2021 than rebirth any day, at least thye made reptile a monster instead of a ugly cannibal.
3:30 Actual video starts from here
I mean it was just a pitch. Just an idea being thrown around. Terrible pitches get made all the time probably.
The meta thing about Johnny Cage dying is a thing.
MK Trilogy and MK Annihilation
Idc what anyone says this had potential to be one of the best adaptations on MK!
First not a movie….
This was a concept trailer for a project that they were looking to get funding on…
I like how it gave a more reality grounded presentation of the MK universe!
Not bad…just different
Man this is like me watching a game trailer from 2008 but having 2023 expectations 😂
Sub Zero looks more like Noob Siboot than Sub Zero.
Think about it this way; If Rebirth never "leaked" and got all the MK fans raging enough and supporting Mortal Kombat again, we most likely never have gotten more MK content with the Legacy series and probably still be waiting for a reboot movie, let alone animated movies.
I see Rebirth as a catalyst for the live action reincarnation. So in some way, we have to thank and appreciate Kevin Tancharoen for waking up the fans.
this movie should have never existed got baraka looking like a extra out of mad max and reptile trying to cosplay as a leper
I thought mortal kombat rebirth was great. I liked how they tied to keep everything as real as possible
They should've made reptile a alligator or crocodile that would probably be better then what we got
The Cyber Lin Kuei episode is pure cinematic sci-fi beyond chef kissed compare to current CGI movie... despite that episode somewhat age more than a decade ago,the quality of surgery procedure body horror & cyberize CGI was pure next level
The big problem with them trying to make Mortal Kombat "realistic" and "logical" is that the explanations they come up with are always going to be worse and less believable than just saying it's a fantasy setting. Baraka is the best example. If you just say he's a half-demon created by a necromancer, nobody will have an issue with that. Whereas when you say that he's just a normal dude who gave himself retractable blades and spikes all over his body, people will be able to poke holes in that explanation all day, and they'll be tempted to because the realism angle invites skepticism.
The 2021 movie also had this issue when trying to explain the powers as being Arcana, because then there are obvious examples of characters who seem to have these powers regardless, it makes you question where they even came from, what the rules on passing them on are, and why they seem so random. Whereas if you just say that everyone uses magic, naturally have these abilities due to race, or are the result of cybernetics, people will be fine with that. After all, people don't question the existence of superpowers in Marvel or DC, because that's the whole point of the setting, and the focus is almost always on how they're used and the consequences that come from that, rather than the internal mechanics, physics, and other technical jargon.
I remember this and ridiculous as it was, it was interesting and entertaining, which is more than I can say for the mk11 story line and the new movie
Mortal Kombat Legacy talk when?
The cast of mk
They should’ve made reptile into a crocodile that be so much better
I loved season 2s evil Liu Kang and I didn't hate the fighting choreography of either project
Fr that writer should never get to be in another MK project, dude butchered everything. Everything was corny, the lines, the fights, the plot. Honestly just shameful.
I tried to watch this. And once I realized what it was I shut it off
Crazy how this version of Ermac is dlc in mk1
when i am watching this, it has been 12 years since mk9 released
Mortal Kombat rebirth is the worst
Dude at that time everyone was tying to be like dark knight that’s why they went that route
So I suppose that in this verse all of the kombat klans are basically street gangs.
Your like the only youtuber i watch that I don't skip on the sponsor.
I would have 100% watched Rebirth
How funny is it that the thumbnail is the arguably the worst costume in MK history
Also the new movie is VERY closely based on these "things" getting hate. It is realistic, up to a point...which they don't explain. They just give the heroes powers and call it their animali....I mean Arkana! (Just as stupid)...which flees it's owner once killed. Only this time is goes to whomever killed them. There is so much on the movie that just sucked. The rebirth could have been ok. Whose to say they wouldn't have gotten abilities when they got to wherever, I dunno, you dunno, only a few do and ever will. I'm not saying underdawg did (he might have, I don't know) but people who hate on rebirth and legacy yet love the new movie just..smh.
I actually like Rebirth. It works when we have NO Mortal Kombat content because we're happy for something. And it works when we have a ton of MK content because its a fun elseworld. But I wouldn't want a full Rebirth series instead of a traditional MK film.
I was HYPE on this video when it came out.
I liked and enjoyed it..i took it as an alternative look at it..some ppl take stuff like that to seriously
Mk communitys toxicity
I honestly wanted to see more of rebirth. i think that it deserved a shot, even though I am probably in the minority here. I am sorry that it hasn‘t been more expanded upon.
