To those who disagree. You are entitled to your opinion, and I am to mine. I respect all views. I think Cherry Bomb is beautiful for various reasons. Of course, it is a bit of a mess... but there are gems hidden inside it. Take OKAGA, CA for example, my favorite Tyler song, it is riddled with beautiful notes and instruments. You can really tell he put in thought for every bit of the song. The chords, to the melodies. I admire the the embodiment of many types of sounds the track has. Also, even if it’s not good to someone, you have to respect his efforts. It is a bold and artistic album, where Tyler tried to push himself as an artist and find a new footing. These are just some reasons why I think Cherry Bomb is beautiful.
It ain't fair to say that cherry bomb is a musical mess. FIND YOUR WINGS, for example, is, in terms of instrumentals beautiful. SMUCKERS has one of the best verses from Tyler, Weezy, and Yeezy. 2SEATER is a whole vibe, etc..
He did aknowledge that the songs individually are beautiful. But all in all. An album should have some kind of consistency, tell a story. Cherry bomb seems to be going in every direction. Hence the label of a messy album.
Arturo isn't wrong, to an extent. While Golf is certainly at its peak now, we can't ignore that it wasn't branching out into new territory in 2015. Tyler and Converse collabed creating Golf le Fleur, the fashion line allowed Tyler to open more doors in Spring 2016, and production value (even though, it's always been abrasive yet colorful) got better. 17 or not, we can't deny how more creative and successful Golf became.
Cade Kousal the cherry bomb era birthed the flame clothing and golf le fleur I like the direction golf is going to though, hell in 3 hours the spring/summer drop is going live and I’m buying a child of golf statue I just think that during the cherry bomb era the golf hype was real it was a perfect balance of edge and abrasive colors
The “Cherry Bomb” era was the best time for Golf Wang, it had a huge influence on how the mainstream public dressed. The “Flower Boy” era would be 2nd, because the album had an influence on the “vintage” and “softboy” trend.
nah man he really used those piano chords he loves creatively in that one. that refrain " i don't wanna crash, i dont wanna crash anymore" also hits deep af. can relate
I can agree on Cherry Bomb, it's grown on me a lot lately. But honestly I can't say the same for Yeezus, for me it's easily Kanye's worst album, with some good tracks sprinkled in.
In a creative medium, you have to be ready to take some pushback when putting out a really original idea. For true innovation, this is a fact of life Cherry Bomb is one of those albums that will seem like more of a stepping stone in retrospect but it opened the door for what would become popular with Flower Boy and IGOR Experimental music is called that for a reason. After all, not all experiments get the results you want but I consider this album not only to be great but to have the unrestricted creativity to influence in a really positive way
Cherry Bomb is the definition of the Creator in Tyler, The Creator. It's a creative project. Also without Cherry Bomb and me being perfectly fine with how it's mixed I don't think I ever would've liked shoegaze records like Loveless. (though tbf i didn't at first) or even Tame Impala songs where the vocals are kinda hard to hear. I think at this point people just expect us to hear the lyrics instead of it being part of the mood.
I know not many people agree, but Cherry Bomb is one of my favourite albums from Tyler. Something about the imperfection gives the album a little more authenticism.
Cherry bomb was Tyler’s true sound... not one appreciated it only the few until Tyler himself admitted that it was his favorite and his most fun project he did. This album embodies Tylers music.
You know, I watch your videos now and know EXACTLY how to do every effect you do; but knowing AE isn't the problem. I could *NEVER* think up the incredibly creative, everchanging styles your presentation has.
When this album first came out, I loved it, but a of the people at school that were tyler fans made fun of me for liking it. I also liked yeezus when it came out, but as the artists evolved, people realized how things got better with age
If you listen to the songs backwards it makes more sense for breakups . The gems 💎 that are on this album are worth listening The last five songs alone are the best
even though he's literally said it multiple times, the cherry bomb documentary video make its obvious that it was his favorite work at the time by far. that shit taught me what it really means to love music, yo. seeing him record and come up with melodies in his literal bedroom was so inspiring. i urge everyone who hasnt seen it yet to watch
dude people need to watch this guy's content more like the production value alone on the editing is remarkable and the topic are covered super well too
As a 12/13 year old who didn’t know much about music this album banged. Whereas Tyler believes only “real music” lovers would appreciate this, he forgot about kids who don’t have the biases people older than them have. Tyler has been my favorite artist since.
Reflecting back on Tyler's whole discography, Cherry Bomb was one of my favorites. Super experimental but you really gotta listen to it a few times to get it. It's really bridges his old and new stuff.
Smuckers is my second favorite Tyler song. I’m someone who found Tyler from flower boy and ended up falling more into his old music. To me, Cherry Bomb was messy but amazing. It felt all over place but I immediately took to it and felt like there was so much beautiful art work living inside of it. Tyler’s genius and I think Cherry bomb is one of the greatest examples
In the title track I *think* that the loud sounds were supposed to sound like a bombs shockwave, but also I love that song because it is just chaos and aggression in the form of music, like tron cat but the music is more violent than the vocals
My personal favourite song on cherry bomb is death camp because it gets you jumping and is different compared to his newest productions which is fantastic
I have no idea why, but the more crazy and chaotic songs are INCREDIBLY interesting to me. Songs such as BROWN STAINS and CHERRY BOMB (the track) make me want to learn more about them, and once I stayed up until about 2 AM looking for information on said songs, but the most I could find is a fan-made lyric video. It’s a little disappointing that there’s so little information on them. It’s an odd choice, but I actually pay much more attention to the beat than Tyler’s actual lyrics when it comes to CHERRY BOMB, and I feel like that’s exactly how it’s designed to be. Tyler’s voice to me is a crucial instrument that still seems to fade into the background instead of the main focus!
It’s been about almost a month since I got into Tyler I listened to all his albums latest to oldest in 1 night and I’ve gotta say cherry bomb is a musical masterpiece I love albums with different types of songs they put you into a different vibe every song it’s just so versatile compared to any other artists album
Lifeless web user exactly, the highest quality of the album for me was how disoriented and off kilter the flow was between every song. they all connect for me
So glad you made this, been listening to it nonstop recently after Igor released, when u go back and listen u can hear Tyler’s transition into Flower Boy coming off this album instrumentally, specifically in Find Your Wings and Perfect, on Buffalo he’s still lyrically aggressive in his delivery like previous works. Some elements off the album can be heard in Igor too, but this is just my perspective on things lol
i cant understand how people say its his worst album, for me its the perfect transition from wolf to flower boy and shows so much musical variety with unique sounds you cant find anywhere else. it just has to grow on you.
Chur bum helped me find my wings this album will always have a special place in my heart. The Wolf album Is so sick too, I love listening to Awkward on a rainy day
revisiting cherry bomb 4 years later. It honestly went from sounding like wild ass noise everywhere, to some really complex, very energetic, beautiful music
Tyler’s entire career is a never ending road of his life experience. If you don’t like his music, you don’t understand him, his mind, background, his honesty with and in is musical creativity.
personally i think cherry bomb is his best project because it’s a mixture of what he does best while also sounding really good. it’s important to the artists image and sound while keeping a good sound.
The thing about Chur Bum aging like wine is a factor that goes along with it being such an odd and left field release, any album that is experimental and different in it's approach to a genre or a musical idea will grow onto you the more time you put into listening, because repetition legitimizes, and even with something that's completely counter to all standards of music can be appreciated if it becomes familiar. Having said that, it's still an extremely bold and unique album, and I love basically every track on it for one reason or the other, mostly because a lot of the tracks are meant to be enjoyed freely without thinking on it to much, which I guess is also the reason why Tyler later released instrumental, this is exploration of sound, it's just meant to feel good. At the end of the day Cherry Bomb is still most definitely one of the most important releases for Tyler as an artist, we wouldn't be here now without it.
I used to hate this album because of the mixing but now after exploring more deeply into other genres and types of hip hop and rap I feel a lot more of a connection to it and don’t truly hate any song like I do with some on goblin
Cherry Bomb is his most unpolished album for sure. You can hear the sounds that he would go on to make and perfect fighting to come out, up against the familiarity of the aggression that made him so captivating to begin with. It’s like hearing an emotional transition in real time, with previews of what’s to come, moments of nostalgic aggression, and songs where both are competing to out-do each other at the same time. That’s why it’s my favorite tyler album to date. You couldn’t have a flower boy or Igor without it, and it was clear to see that he was well on his path to carving a new landscape in hip hop, all while wrestling with the familiarity of what he knew how to make up until that point. The sonic limitations and signs of imminent progression to me make it absolutely beautiful. I’m not sure I’ve heard a pivot quite like it in hip hop ever before it came out, and certainly haven’t found one as beautifully raw since
cherry bomb is an incredible album, it gets better everytime i listen to it. it really just clicks at some point, 2seater and pilot are 2 of my favorite tyler songs ever now
One lyric from Deathcamp "That’s when I realized we ain’t cut from the same fabric, I made my own sh*t, you went out and bought yours" is smart, it shows that he learned what his music would be. Which is originality not being the same as all the other rappers in today’s generation. Tyler The Creator is amazing his music too.
I want you to know that I appreciate that you made the background music intentionally louder in order to mimic how the background instrumentals on cherrybomb are loud and you can. arely hear Tyler's voice. Very subtle but brilliant choice, so know _someone_ appreciated and understood
man idk how ppl hate on Cherry Bomb. Knowing who Tyler is, the rock beginning with Deathcamp opened my eyes more because I wanted to know how he would approach this sound.
Over time I have fallen in love with Cherry Bomb. I pretty much love the whole album. Except three songs. And I'm pretty sure when talking about this album he said he was just making music. Didn't want to get personal. Or something.... And the instrumentals are great.
The only song I don't like on Cherry Bomb compared to the other songs is RUN, and even that song is good when it's not compared to the other tracks. It truly ages like fine wine.
