- Another rip-off/soundalike from the ex Oasis songwriter or just another coincidence/'inspiration' etc...

First time I heard HFB’s track, this is all I could hear!
I first heard Glorious when I was 4 or 5 and for the life of me I couldn't find it (I only remembered bits of the music). I'm 24 now and I was at the mall today when I heard We're on Our Way and I thought it was the song I was looking for, but only the music was quite similar, so I googled the title plus "sample" and found this. Thank you for this video, 20 years later I finally found the song I was looking for :)
Pleasure! :)
I thought I was going mad, it’s literally the same melody...
One night when I was 11 years old I wrote my first ever tune on guitar. I'd only been having lessons a few weeks and naturally was very impressed with myself for coming up with this simple yet effective riff. I immediately went downstairs and played it to my dad only to be told "son, that's a song called Smoke on the Water"
No one in my house listened to classic rock so I'm as certain as I can be that I hadn't heard it before. But even if I had heard it before, the point is I didn't recognise it when I 'wrote' it and genuinely believed I'd come up with it
The root notes in the string section from Glorious are so basic it's likely to have been replicated on various instruments many times over by people playing at home who've never even heard Glorious before
I'm not saying Noel definitely didn't steal it. Who knows? It's not like he hasn't been honest about ripping off other artists in the past. I just think it's unlikely in this instance, despite the similarities. He's not exactly known for ripping off late 90's euro pop/rock
This has been on my mind since I heard the Noel song, thank you! Was doing my head in lol... knew I had heard that melody before.
Pleased to help!
FINALLY SOMEONE NOTICED IT
This is all I could here when I first heard this track. Glad I'm not the only one
I spotted this too. Surprised HFBs haven’t been picked up on it.
I knew it! It’s all I could hear from the first time I heard it. What I can’t understand is why more people haven’t picked up on this. Like don’t people have ears?!
Well when I've asked the same on the official single RUclips vid they just reply that they don't care and "if it's so easy why don't you or anyone else do it?" etc. Completely missing the point
Yep I agree everyone bar a few have let us slip by🤷🏿♀️
It's also the same as Peter Schilling's "Mechanik Meines Herzen"
So Peter's stolen Andreas' tune too, lol. I wonder where Andreas got it from...
I've been saying this too! It's the exact same, just a bit of a lower key.
Hi wanted to talk to u
I've been telling my bf this since it came out!!!
Correct.
The difference is that the original sounds like a breath of fresh air where as Noel's sounds really unsatisfying somehow.
Agreed. Noel's is a pale facsimile of the original, as ever
"...from the ex Oasis songwriter"
People here really think Noel plays/records the fucking strings on his songs lol
Such a blatant rip off. Noel has a long history stealing other people's stuff. He's even boasted about it in interviews. And he's been successfully sued. Shameless. 💩💩
Me too!!! Within 3 seconds of it starting!!! Is he a genius or charlatan!?😂😂
Definitely charlatan. Been getting away with it for decades
Obviously the second option. Been taking the mick for years,he’s a talentless tosspot
Look at any great artist, ideas come from what has been before. The opening notes of Starman by Bowie were borrowed from Somewhere over the Rainbow.
