26yrs old & still my favourite Oasis song. Still get goosebumps when it starts. Remember buying the CD single the day it came out in the cardboard sleeve, I still have it 🖤
I watched Supersonic (the Oasis doco movie) a couple of weeks ago and I've been listening to them ever since. I think they're my favourite band now. I missed the whole Britpop revolution, back in the day, because I was too busy listening to Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins etc. I guess I'm 20 years too late but fuck it, good music is good music...
Actually, Oasis never wanted their music to be called "Britpop", and I agree with them. The Spicegirls and All Saints were Britpop, even Blur was. Oasis was Rock'n Roll !
Mark Furlong I first got into Oasis in early 1996. I was 15 and before that I was into Green Day and grunge stuff also. I remember seeing Wonderwall on MTV in January 1996 and I didn't like it. My brothers told me I was crazy. After a couple listens I was really into and have been a huge Oasis fan ever since. I've heard everything they have put out. I remember in 1998 getting a cassette tape from a friends sister and it had all the B-sides I had never heard of. You could only get them if you bought every import single here in the states. The Internet was in its infancy and I didn't get a computer until late 1998. I don't even think anyone has all of the B-sides on a website then anyway. But the B-sides blew me away obviously. I remember watching them on SNL in Oct of 1997 and hearing Acquiesce for the first time. I taped the unplugged in August of 1996 and watched it over and over again. The same with the MTV music awards in September of 1996. In January 1998 I saw them in concert for the first time and well it was the best I had ever seen up until that point. Before they broke up I had seen them 5 times. I wish I was in the UK so I would of gotten to see them more. In the US where I live they only came around once every 3 years or so. I have seen Noel twice now since 2011. I saw Liam's Band Beady Eye once in a tiny tiny club in DC called the 930 club. It was so loud I couldn't even hear the words Liam was singing. Liam's band broke up in 2014 and he has a solo Album coming out this year.
Only Liam Gallagher can stand and sing with his hands in his pockets like he could give a $hit less and still have more swagger than any frontman today.....
. No green filters? Check. . Reversed lines supressed to almost unaudible? Check. . Liam & Noel sound clearer? Check. . Clearer guitar notes in solos? Check. . No drowning "wall-of-sound" effect? Check . Knobs up to the top for string section? Supercheck. . Excessive cutting and sudden change like an FM version? Check, check. . Even LESS footage of Guigsy and Bonehead? Check on that too! All in all, I still prefer the "won thgir, ereh thgir elpoep ym lla" 1996 version, thank you very much. Cheers!
When this came out..i was absolutely floored..felt like Liam was out of the world…the melody and specially when it gets to “i made my maker..” part still gives me goosebumps..one of true last rockstar living in this planet
I recently learned the meaning behind the lyrics of this song. What a legend noel gallagher is. Mind blowing. Every line a a deep message. Basically it's all about noels life. The maker is his abusive dad and no met him and made him cry.
Noel cant relax. Liam is all he is ever going to be. if noel wants some kind of touching heart felt tribute to himself from Liam of a kind of apology, he needs to pull his finger out. Liven up, have fun.
One of their very best. Just grabs everything that "special" Oasis sound is about. I so hope the reunion will be bustin and satisfy the hopes and expectation all over the globe..! 🎸
Hands down... yes be her now pales to the older siblings and it has aged poorly due to how bloated it is, but to me, Oasis IS D'you know what I mean... the swagger the attitude the rock perfection of this song to me, in my mind, cemented oasis forever
This song constantly, out of nowhere, popped out in my head 10 minutes ago and I decided to search for it. Great band. I used to listen to them all day long when I was 18 in 2010 and was studying in university. In one month I will turn 30 (it's crazy to think about) and after a decade their songs still rocks, because it became classic & timeless. Live forever Oasis ✊
One amazing fucking song!! I wish i was listening to this when it came out but I'm here for all of it now!! Love this song, video..everything!! The best! Makes me feel all 1997ish🤗🥰😍😄

Many Oasis songs are difficult for me to understand in Spanish. For those of you who speak native English the letters make sense they are easy to understand? For example that song, how do you understand when listening to it?
EnglishXnXproud - it's pretty obvious actually since english is NOT my first language and I love Oasis, I don't catch every word at once, open your mind mate, the world is a huge place.
I remember the premiere on MTV for this track. They played it twice back to back. It's filmed in the same location that Stanley Kubrick filmed the war scenes for Full Metal Jacket.
@@xfilesfoxisdead7979 To be fair George Harrison started it. But man, I did not know this filmed int he same location as Full Metal Jacket. No wonder it felt familiar
Thanks mate! I kindda knew it, FMJ is among one of my favorite Stanley’s movie but actually never really tried to find out the link with that scenery, although I knew that war scenes were filmed in the Uk And still a really good tune from Oasis (though I’m not a true fan)
There is also sign "Víte co tím chci..." (it probably ends "říct") and it means "Do you know what I mean". The album was released on 21st August 1997 and I heard that it is connected to Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia which started on 21st August 1968.
And naturally, the other sign which says VÍTE CO TÍM CHCI ŘÍCT translates to "Do you know what I mean." I have yet to figure out why they decided to include Czech signs in the clip, though.

@JOHN ALLAKER Really?! Do you know anything about knebworth or other music video remaster by any chance? It seems that knebworth was filmed by film camera but there is no other video except champagne supernova and cast no shadow. Lastly, hasn't this 4k video of the Remaster version been released yet? Only Fhd is all on RUclips. I'm sure a 35mm film would have remastered 4k as you said.
This is one of the oddest moments ever. All those 20 something people there filmed in Full HD resolution, in the prime of their life, are around 50 years old right now. Before, you could not imagine your parents when they said 'when I was young' or they would be in old colour photographs. But to see this in full HD video, it's doesn't seem like any time has passed between 1996 and now.
You know what's crazier? This was shot on 35mm film. Which is approximately the equivalent of 4K when transferred to digital. Still waiting for the 4K scan of this film.
This song is the best song they ever did. The aurora of who they were at the time this was released and the messages in the song. This song makes you feel on top of the world. Just like they were and still are to many people.
martin, strange how i think those dots connect. top of the world, rich, powerful, overwhelmed, can`t deal, the results from that on can naturally be a mess

I'm 53 and a huge Stones and Thin Lizzy fan. Oasis is in my top 10 bands of all time...up there with the Stones. They just had something that moved me and still does.
[Intro]
[Verse 1]
Step off the train all alone at dawn
Back into the hole where I was born
The sun in the sky never raised an eye to me
The blood on the trax must be mine
The fool on the hill and I feel fine
Don't look back cos you know what you might see
Look into the wall of my mind's eye
I think I know, but I don't know why
The questions are the answers you might need
Coming in a mess going out in style
I ain't good looking but I'm someone's child
No-one can give me the air that's mine to breathe
[Bridge]
I met my maker I made him cry
And on my shoulder he asked me why
His people won't fly through the storm
I said "Listen up man, they don't even know you're born"
[Chorus]
All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? (yeah, yeah)
All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? (yeah, yeah)
All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? (yeah, yeah)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
[Verse 2]
I don't really care for what you believe
So open up your fist or you won't receive
The thoughts and the words of every man you'll need
So get up off the floor and believe in life
No-ones ever gonna ever ask you twice
Get on the bus and bring it on home to me
[Bridge]
I met my maker I made him cry
And on my shoulder he asked me why
His people won't fly through the storm
I said "Listen up man, they don't even know you're born"
[Chorus]
All my people right here, right now

All my people right here, right now

26yrs old & still my favourite Oasis song. Still get goosebumps when it starts. Remember buying the CD single the day it came out in the cardboard sleeve, I still have it 🖤
Me too. And I feel exactly the same way about the tune in general.
Awesome, man!
I'm glad you've develop this interest. They're also my favourite band but have been for a while now.
Mark Furlong well I never missed it😀
Actually, Oasis never wanted their music to be called "Britpop", and I agree with them.

Little fact... the sign on the building saying BUĎ ZDE is in Czech and means Be Here Now. It was filmed in London, though.
Filmed on the same set as full metal jacket in london :)
There is also sign "Víte co tím chci..." (it probably ends "říct") and it means "Do you know what I mean". The album was released on 21st August 1997 and I heard that it is connected to Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia which started on 21st August 1968.

This is one of the oddest moments ever. All those 20 something people there filmed in Full HD resolution, in the prime of their life, are around 50 years old right now.
