‘Be Here Now’ was released on 21st August 1997 and followed the success of ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’, Oasis’ biggest selling album and the record that broke them globally. The previous summer, Oasis played to more than 250,000 people over two nights at Knebworth, with an astounding 2.5 million people applying for tickets. Released at midnight on Thursday 21st August 1997, at a time when most albums were released on Monday, ‘Be Here Now’ sold a staggering 400,000 copies on the first day in the UK, with 663,400 sales in just 3 days. It was No.1 in fifteen countries and remained at the top of the UK Album Chart for 4 weeks. To date, it has the most album sales in the first seven days of release in UK Official Chart history, and has sold over 8 million copies globally.

@@norwegian4320 I think it’s not. Noel actually said that on an interview. He had the song written before WTSMR came out so he actually thought to include it on the CD.
He said that if he would have done that the tune could have been ten times more “successful”.
It is a great song, but a lot of the people didn’t appreciate it that much at the time.

Perhaps this is one of Oasis' most touching songs along with "Sad Song" and "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" as much as it is underrated. These songs first tear your soul to pieces, making you cry, and then collect it again, giving you a sense of rebirth and rethinking your existence. Oasis is the best band for me for that reason alone.

I always loved on the album the quiet ending of this song, then the intro to Be Here Now kicks In and I crank the volume up to 11!!!

"Damn my education I can't find the word to say with all the things caught in my mind" is such a sad and depressing statement when you think about it. An underrated tune with beautiful yet sad lyrics that even Liam was hesitant to record it at first. Shows how brilliant Noel is as a songwriter...

@@thomasmorrison3428 ii still is SD. All that’s happened is the SD version has been run through some sharpening filters that just serve to increase contrast along edges. There’s no actual extra resolution at all.

Back in my late teens, this song helped me cope with the loss of my grandfather. His birthday always seemed to fall on a cold and frosty morning. 26 years later, I still well up when I hear it.
A little Curiosity: Liam claims to have cried while recording the song, as a result of dwelling on "a certain thing". He said, in a 1997 interview, "I just thought 'fuck that, I can't be singing this song' and I had to go away and sort myself out". Listening back to the song he admits to being very proud of his vocal performance.
Just visited and left my son for the first time and it was terrible for both of us saying goodbye. His arms and legs wrapped tightly around me and kissing my cheek .... I wept like a part of me was dying because it was. This song on repeat the whole plane ride home.... Thank you Oasis

Incluso la parte final, después del *Don't go away* tiene un toque nostálgico que te recuerda los tiempos que viviste con esa persona y apesar de que te niegues aceptar ese final es algo que va ocurrir sin importar lo cruel que llegue hacer. Así es como yo la interpretó y me tocó experimentar algo parecido con mi abuelita que este año falleció. Cuánto daría para poder estar con ella por el resto de mi vida 💖

Ive been on air as a presenter tonight on a local radio station. The night the Queen died. And I played this. It just took me back to 97, when Radio 1 played this after Diana died. I felt it was right, it's a stunning song.

I was bummed they didn’t perform it back in 2005 when I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl, and used to listen to this song on loop to sleep
They had to make the album sound like it did. They were the biggest band in the world at that point so they made it sound as big as possible. What was the alternative? Ten versions of Wonderwall? Their best album and best tour. Earls Court September 97 was mayhem. Couldn't hear for 4 days afterwards.
Sadly I was only 12 when this came out, would love to have gone to those gigs.

It was never released as a physical single except in Japan, so a lack of marketing is probably why it never reached the heights of "Wonderwall" and such. Its highest chart position was here in Canada, interestingly enough, where it reached 16th.

Oasis aren't underrated. Massive band that learnt a trick or two from The Beatles and other bands. Cracking tune though! If the Beatles didn't exist I don't think songs like this one or stop crying your heart etc would exist. If you play whatever on the guitar the chords are the same as octopuses garden.

I was 14 when `Be Here Now` came out and I bought the cassette tape format of the album and learned so hard to be able to play all the songs on guitar by ear, since then, I started covering Oasis `song with my teenage band and `Don`t Go Away` was the first song I could master with the band, never forget the memories Noel and Liam you guys are truly legend , thanks for this masterpiece !
