- Title : Franz Liszt , Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 Orchestra
From Wikipedia
Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, S.244/2, is the second in a set of 19 Hungarian Rhapsodies by composer Franz Liszt, and is by far the most famous of the set. Few other piano solos have achieved such widespread popularity, offering the pianist the opportunity to reveal exceptional skill as a virtuoso, while providing the listener with an immediate and irresistible musical appeal.
In both the original piano solo form and in the orchestrated version this composition has enjoyed widespread use in animated cartoons. Its themes have also served as the basis of several popular songsThe Hungarian-born composer and pianist Franz Liszt was strongly influenced by the music heard in his youth, particularly Hungarian gypsy music, with its unique gypsy scale, rhythmic spontaneity and direct, seductive expression. These elements would eventually play a significant role in Liszt's compositions. Although this prolific composer's works are highly varied in style, a relatively large part of his output is nationalistic in character, the Hungarian Rhapsodies being an ideal example.
Composed in 1847 and dedicated to Count Laszlo Teleky, Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 was first published as a piano solo in 1851 by Senff and Ricordi. Its immediate success and popularity on the concert stage soon led to an orchestrated version, arranged by the composer in collaboration with Franz Doppler, and published by Schuberth. In addition to the orchestral version, the composer arranged a piano duet version in 1874, published by Schuberth the following year.
By the late 19th century and early 20th century, the excruciating technical challenges of the piano solo version led to its acceptance as the "unofficial standard" by which every notable pianist would "prove his salt", usually as a smashing finale. It had become an expected staple of virtually every performance of the greatest pianists of the time. Offering an outstanding contrast to the serious and dramatic lassan, the following friska holds enormous appeal for audiences, with its simple alternating tonic and dominant harmonization, its energetic, toe-tapping rhythms, and breath-taking "pianistics".
Most unusual in this composition is the composer's invitation for the performer to improvise an original Cadenza, although most pianists choose to decline the invitation. A noteworthy example of such a cadenza is heard in the performance of Marc-André Hamelin. Other pianists have arranged their own versions of the Rhapsody with changes beyond that of simply adding a cadenza, most notably Vladimir Horowitz in 1953.
Eventually the piano solo version of Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 had run its course with audiences. However, it retains the dubious honor of being perhaps the most over-played composition in the entire piano concert repertoire. Nonetheless, the original piano solo remains an exciting musical experience for pianist and audience alike. The piece consists of two distinct sections.

Classical Music Only ll
I cannot find words worthy enough to describe this master piece..
Master movement is molto vivace 9 symphony of beethoven
Hands down the greatest piece of music of all time
Drama, power, heavy tones, light tones...slow, somber...quick, energizing...
This has EVERYTHING (including, as I'm obligated by RUclips law to mention--TOM AND JERRY!) ;)
How was Hungarian Rhapsody written for piano when it's so perfect as an orchestral piece?
Because Liszt.
As I listen to this I am reminded of how much the time I spent listening to classical music as an undergraduate enhanced my learning experience. My degree is in mathematics and I can so clearly remember doing my abstract algebra assignments with this particular piece of music in the background. I think that this piece and others helped me in many ways get through my formal mathematical training.
Beauty & Brains. Franz Liszt. One hell of a magical human being.
He is Liszt Ferenc, learn it, he was Hungarian.
Yes I know his name, how can I not. I play his music on the piano, & boy it's a bitch, Ferenc or Franz as they called him was a human marvel He also added the Z in Liszt to his name, originally they say it was spelled List.
Link some source, pls.
And a heart... apparently most of the money he made from concerts went to charities
5:53 every time I am blown away by how genius that transition is
The Hungarian Rhapsody might be the most single handedly brilliant piece ever created on earth by mankind.
And if able to be played on piano, u r the greatest.
This Music Piece Is Used From Wakko's Wish, Tom and Jerry, Bugs Bunny and Lots More On TV Shows and Films.
Trough my ears and into my heart valves and then on to every cell, you music make me alive and lift corners of my lips.
This makes writing an essay about financing way more epic.

Listening to the beauty of classical is just remarkable during this century. Thank you a lot
best time I heard this piece was when during the second half was all done with lyrics in the Animaniacs movie, just fantastic
How you were exposed is not of concern ,the fact that you appreciate it is most meaningful
@@samuelbean9928I'm pretty sure I was first exposed to this tune in Tiny Toons, but I could be wrong.
@@Steffu As was most of America. Seems to be a common thing that cartoon makers in the '40's, 50's and even early 60's used classical music as a cheap narration for their work. Was it that we were more cultured then? maybe so because as a child growing up in rural WV. I had an ear for classical and didn't even know what I was hearing. My taste in music varies from mild to wild but I still appreciate the sound of a good classical piece. I usually don't have any idea who the piece is by but I like what I like and that is based on my ear. I have noticed that I favor(as I lose a little of my hearing) violin and string music more.
@@samuelbean9928 Nothing wrong with starting young when it comes to classical music. Heck, Fantasia's my all time favourite film
this piece is a joy to my soul. it's so good i have tears in my eyes.
this beautiful piece remains me my first memories as a child, tom and jerry ,Tom Playing piano.
I do appreciate how many of you musicians can talk about the music notes on here and understand if it's in C or C#M. I'm learning how to play piano on my own using tutorials from RUclips, but I'll never be able to read the notes. Lol.
Kudos to you all who learned the proper way and learned how to read notes.
So happy and loud to excite you to truly listen. Excellent to exercise your ears!
I'd known the song from Loony Tunes, like everyone else; but as an adult, a music teacher gave me a tape of Liszt music and I rediscovered this and all his other work.
I have heard the piano version too many times to count, and have the sheet music for it (though I have never gotten farther than the 2nd page). I have never heard an orchestral version. This is pure GENIOUS!! Love it.
Heard this recording from a tom and jerry episode where Tom was playing piano with the orchestra and jerry was sleeping in the piano
Wonderful cartoon! Around the same time, Bugs Bunny had a similar cartoon and both studios got into serious competition. In the end, Tom and Jerry took home the academy award.
Delicate storming
One of the all time great pieces of music.
bonjour merci pour cette magnifique musique j'aime beaucoup .mes amitiés lylka
This is first time I listen to this kind of music..
It was a great experience
ESPLENDIDO !!!!!!! Gracias .
I first heard it from Tom & Jerry's cartoon as a child and liked it very much. I has always been one of my favoritest episode. What a wonderful music piece!
It's amazing how gypsy life stayed with L his whole life. We hear it over and over.
I'm 18 now and still remember hearing this on Tom and Jerry and on The Loony Tunes when i was little. This is something yo unever forget
I'm just in the mood to hear something wonderful.
Absolutely marvellous!!!!!! Perla.
Why can't music like this be written anymore???'
Because the industry (Yep, in this point is starting be sad) only looks shittie talent.
This type of music still exists, there are modern composers yet they're not as popular as they should be. Hans Zimmer, Craig Armstrong, Max Ritcher, John Williams etc. are mainly composers who write for film scores yet most of their music is still great and appreciated after years. Then there are also several modern day composers (I can't really name much because I don't knew many, except maybe Bogdan Alin Odin) as well as RUclips-Famous composers like Adrian von Ziegler, Brunuhville or Peter who try to follow in the footsteps of Film-Composers who themselves have their own approach.
Ser Stormcrow There are more out there doing such things...however on a lesser scale than in the earlier centuries,... when this type of music was considered the "popular" type, there wasn't any notion of such music as what the general population calls "pop" music...ergo the shit music that permeates the airwaves today...unless of course you wisely tune into a Classical Station, in your area......
Le wrong generation
+Vadim Sokow We get it, you watch FilthyFrank.
:')
Fantastic.. It turns from great to brilliant 5min onwards
Monumental work of great genius Franz Liszt !
I certainly concur with you on this. It, too, has helped me a great deal in doing writing papers by listening to this piece.
oh no.....it was my favourite episode when I was a child !!!!!!!
Nice recording. My concert band will attempt this. Hope we can pull off the wonderful contrasts.
Words can't decribe such thing! Beyond definition!
This is amazing! I actually played this piece with my school band before :))
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT
One of my favs!!
This is beautiful! It sounds so war like. I heard this in chorus for the first time.
My lif music classic
Will love this for a million years~!
piece of magic
I don't know if it makes such difference. I watched those cartoons my entire childhood and now, listening to these songs I can remember the cartoons, but I never gave classical music any more attention because of them.
This song is one of my favorites (though my favorite version of this song is the duet Victor Borge did with various people). I really wish I could play this on the piano...
5/5
OH, that's where those famous melodies come from!!
Thanks for providing this recording. Like so many others visitors, it seems as though this piece has been immortalized thanks to classic cartoons.
Preciosa interpretación! Me siento sumamente emocionada escuchándola!
Beautiful interpretation! I am very excited listening!
16 people had Friday going on in their head while this piece of art was being played!
Gotta love how the old cartoons would incorporate classical music. Why current cartoons don't I will often wonder.
epic masterpiece!
una pieza magistral, que invita a recorrer pasajes de la experiencia vital. Agradecido.
This just captures my eye on Feudal Japan. Reminds me of such nights, walking through some snowy walkway surrounded by colorleaf`d trees, as a child. Not knowing what was lurking within the forest-set. Veering off into the woods, only armed with childhood knowlege, I would take off, and dance.
Fantasztikus az előadás! Az érzés miden ember lelkét egyformán érinti meg, legyen magyar, vagy nem magyar.
Love the arrangement but i wish the fast part was fast-ER! It has little energy played slow, no offense. I LOVE this song though. Find the other version and compare it to this one. My favorite part though would be the beginning with the French Horns
What the whole world needs.

Absolutly amazing, it does get in my bones.
celebérrima Rapsodia y de una fuerte impronta lírica
I find it interesting that many of the people commenting on this video are putting down modern day music and teens. Not all music today is pop, and quite frankly, as a teenager myself, I absolutely adore Baroque, Classical and Romantic music. Not all adolescents are walking stereotypes, you know. This song is beautifully performed, very dynamic and delightful!
Classical music may not be in cartoons anymore but it is in movies which reach an even wider audience.
Awesome! TY
it's like a musical poem.. i like it *-*
I'm going to play this at my orchestra!! Woopp!!!! And I've lived in Hungary before and the music is very much like this!!! I
Thank you.
Awe inspiring!!!
It is "easy listening", for me, but I guess for most it's just strange, beautiful and difficult to like. Glad 'we' like it. All can enjoy with pictures!
Otherwise, it is too proud I think (only for proud people). Maybe I can copy one day with a rck band, as I have more experience with this. However, in a traditional setting, it is appreciative of some of Hungary's past! And some of Europes...too
Great music !!!👏👏👏👏👏👏
This music is wonderful
Superb!
Very very nice !!!
Amazing, we were Tom & Jerry Kids, life it`s flying..!
Im "HUNG"arian and i enjoyed that thoroughly!!!!!
Simplemente hermosa.
This compostition is nice.
fantastico
Try listening to this and following the sheet music... mind blown
I love this piece!
thoroughly enjoyed that.
Is it true that Liszt used to be a romantic era version of the Beatles, as girls screamed for him when he himself played? Haha, read that somewhere, found interesting but don't know if it's true.
tis true
Yeah... he was basically one of first rockstars. Women would faint when he went on stage and fight over his gloves when he threw them into the crowd. Audiences would get so wild the term "Lisztomania" was coined to describe the phenomenon
this is beautiful!
love this....
Impressive.
Simply amazing *-*
i was thinkking exactly that
Bravo!
I want to dance,I,m dreaming...
He was the one of the greatest hungarian composers!
it is really great recording, i love it.
Good stuff :) Ironic that my music teacher when I was a little kid never taught me this beautiful song, but my Saturday morning cartoons sure did.
amazinggg
! Great ¡
And I'm when programming in the night. Cheers!
Doh never realised this was LIstz until Youtobe
So many use this music which makes this guy a Jimi Elvis Bon Bob Jerry.. of his age
Classical the new punk>:) Music with attitude
Some people go around disliking videos just for the sake of disliking them.
Every artist and conducter to play or conduct any piece of music will embellish it to a certain degree but, the very best of all translations are the ones done that are played as the composer wrote them with the least embellishment. However it's hard to equal this piece of music.
wow I get to play this. I'm not sure whether to be excited or scared...
I know....me too,because i do that too now!!!you are my people!!!:D
