my father teach me to listen this particular rapsody. I was 10 years old and now I am 61 years old . All these years I was taking a lot of power listening that music and I will continue to do so.
What a wonderful Papa you had. Thank you for sharing your thought. If music be the fruit of love, said Shakespeare, play on. Music is the fruit of love, and God is love, and Lizst was surely tapping into that particular aspect of love, and transmitting that power as you put it, to audiences then, and audiences today. It energizes me with hope, Heaven originating potentiating energy, my definition of hope- H.O.P.E.
My father bought the 75rpm record of this, and we all knew it off by heart. We pretended to play the instruments, as kids will do. Then one day, it was left out and I broke it. I was heartbroken, but was forgiven. Wonderful to hear it again.
My earliest memory of this sublime piece comes from Walt Disney's film, Water Birds, in the late 1950s or early '60s. Their in-house orchestra was much simpler than the one here but was more than adequate for teaming with the editing of the visual images. I credit that movie with planting seeds of interest in me of birds and birding as well as an appreciation for uplifting music. Many years later I purchased the movie to show students in my biology classes, hoping more seeds would sprout in them. To this day I can't see Western Grebes without recalling this movie or hear this piece around the 7:30 mark without seeing Western Grebes scurrying across a lake in their courtship dance. Thank you Franz Liszt--and Walt Disney--for such a positive effect upon my life!
It’s crazy how a piano piece can be so perfectly transitioned into an orchestral form to create perhaps a more famous version of it. You almost never see it go in that direction. It feels as if Liszt hears an orchestra in his head when he’s writing and performing piano.
I have loved this beautiful piece of music since Iwas a teenager. (I am now 80 years old). I’ve had this record and other works by Liszt for as long as I can remember and never tire of listening to them. Thank you for posting.
Exhilarating experience! Breathing new life into a 73 year old man! Have been a fan of Liszt for over 6 decades. This performance deserves highest praise. Proves that a100 heads are better than one. Thanks for the post. Jamshed Delvadavala, Mumbai
I am hoping to introduce my nephew and grand babies to the beauty of music. It may be too late for my rapper nieces, but I thank you all for supporting music with 3, 4 and 5 centuries of fans. And I thank you on behalf of my Hungarian uncle.
Hungarian music is a strangely characteristic, diverse and complex spiritual statement, deep rooted in the Hungarian soul, as it shows subtle accents and rhythms of the Hungarian language, therefore not an easy task to gain authentic expression by musicians of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Despite all the absence of all these contributing factors, Volker Hartung emerges in front of his Cologne Philharmonic musicians as the fully anointed high priest of the authentic expression of Hungarian music. One needs to see and hear to be believed.
A friend told me that he studied at the Faculty of Economics, while studying and preparing for exams, he always listened to classical music, especially this Liszt composition Rhapsody, and that he always passed the exam with a good grade.
I first heard the orchestral version in 1954. Later on the solo versions. I'd listened to it more than 500times. It's one of the best pieces of music ever composed.
This beauty touches the soul. The New Cologne. Philharmonic Orcestra conducted by Hartung, performs it magnificently, and each movement of the Maestro is absolute beauty in motion. He conducts them so well. If Liszt could hear it, I think he would be very pleased
Only one, highly unlikely but possible- floating upside down in the international space station, in which case ones thumbs down would become, voila, a thumbs up.
This master piece gets me everytime. It's really hard to explain with only words how it makes me feel when I listen to this song. Master Franz Liszt, wherever you are I have to say THANK YOU for this.
I didn't know he had Slovak parents. I am Slovak... their name was List. The list means letter. But he considered himself as Hungarian as most Slovak people did during the Austrian-Hungarian kingdom.
Some music you can not get tired of listening again and again.
Questa e' musica DIVINA !!!!!!!!!!!ascolta dimenticherai , i brutti pensieri ! Buon ascolto .
The world would be in a more beautiful place if this music were adopted by all listening to it.
Franz liszt was truly touched by God

That is why it calls CLASSIC music - it is forever and to all people in the world ! Time don't have power on it.
Right you’re Polina , such beauty .
Rock came, rock will go. Rap came, rap will go. But classical music never dies. Beautiful performance!
This is Rock.
Music has no boundaries is the true language oh humans

I'm Hungarian. Listening again, I left Earth for a while. Listening to our folk music, I hear a lot of this, but this one is excellent.

I think this is the best performance of this rhapsody yet.

Hungarian Dances 5 and Hungarian Rhapsody 2 are both used in comical settings. I find this so fascinating!!
Absolutely perfect interpretation of Rhapsody.

Liszt tried to evoke an entire orchestra with just a grand piano
Mission accomplished, I guess 🌝
Was it first written for piano or straight orchestra?
Would have expected nothing less from a prodigy, who used to perform in front of kings and that too at the age of 12.
@@XxNiiCeBoYxX It was written for Piano by Liszt in 1847.
Very very beautiful.
Such music makes me glad to be alive.
This is one of my favourites
This is the most emotional classical music I've ever heard.
Wonderful.

Liszt and the Hungarian rhythms fantastic.
It's much better as an orchestral piece than a piano piece. It's big, and needs a full orchestra to fully demostrate it's magnificence.
it has volume aesthetically and physically. it needs space in which to roam.
imo, nah, it's equally good in both piano and orchestra
Exhilarating experience!

Just amazing for soul...So Hungarian, so natural for everybody who feels music...

Thank you Liszt, Maestro Hartung, and Cologne Orchestra for this jewel! Awesome interpretation!
