  • This is the second part of my video where I attempted to separate the platinum group metals but ended up melting them all together.

    Always love refining videos. As far as I'm concerned it's home chemistry and it's great to see people doing home chemistry and with safety precautions and a fume hood! Definitely subbed man! Fun fact platinum can cause a condition called, "platinosis" and there is no cure for it and that it can show up months down the line. The most beautiful elements and compounds always seem to be terrible for humans.

    Hey J and L, are you located anywhere near the middle of Georgia? I have some rocks with PGMs, and I could really use some help refining them.

    What happens to all the poisons and acids when the process is finished. Where do you dispose of them safely.

    • @jandlcrafting1332
      @jandlcrafting1332  Год назад

      I take them to our landfill that has a hazardous chemicals disposal 👍

    Where does the aluminum go? Any way to get that back out of the mixture? Or is that what goes into the gas?

    • @frankroberts9320
      @frankroberts9320 6 месяцев назад +1

      The aluminum reacts with hydrochloric acid to form hydrogen gas and aluminum chloride. Aluminum chloride is water soluble and ends up in the filtrate to be discarded.

    I'm sure you got all that only from your friends and relatives. The ceramic you bought online is skeptically seen--its just, was it easy to cut those things open? Why on earth wouldn't they, if they could cut them open, not put some acids and bleach together themselves? You had a substantial batch of the stuff so.. other than that I'd say you might get a few grams left in the first pour.

    First thing you need to invest in is a good pair of boots 👢👢 Socks 🧦 and Sandals 🩴🩴 May be all the fashion where you live but Oxy 😜 and molten metal that would not 🚫 be my preferred footwear...😅 Chemical emergency rinse shower would be great to have too. Respirator when doing your reactions and melting metals.
