After being an iOS user for 7 years and never using Android. I searched multiple videos to see what Android had to offer. On your Moto X review you said it was a good move for any first time android users. Been loving my Moto X ever since! Have had it for about a month or so now. Thanks for the great advice MKBHD! I am a proud subscriber now.
The Moto X has proven that customization MATTERS. Yet not being very impressive on Paper -- User experience is hands down awesome. The smooth curves are better than any woman I've ever gone out with!!
I have to point out that I just went on a road trip with my LG G2, Nexus 5 and Moto X (4.4). Picture comparisons were my focus. I'd done this in the past with my S4 taking the place of the Nexus 5 and the G2 was the clear winner for me. However, after the KitKat update, the X blew away the 5 and G2, much to my surprise. All the devices were on their own respective HDR settings. So please, now knowing the X cyber Monday deal has been extended, look into the photos that are now being produced by the Moto X. The KitKat update has done wonders. Search for proof or ask me. If more than happy to share ALL my results. Already have a few posted on my G+ page. I trust MKBHD in all his reviews, he is great, I'm just not sure if he has really checked out the camera since that update. It sure surprised me. Also though, with that line of thought, an update could vastly improve the Nexus 5's camera as well.
The best I can do for now is give you a link to my G+ page. If you scroll down a bit you will see a picture taken with the G2, Nexus 5 and the Moto X. The picture is taken of the same thing, same spot and within seconds of each other. All 3 are on their respective HDR modes. plus.google.com/u/0/+DustinCrooke/posts/p/pub

I really like your reviews. You are concise and engaging and most importantly your voice isn't annoying at all! Thanks for this it was helpful! Subbed!
If I were to spend $350, I would go with the Nexus 5 just because of the higher res screen and the Snapdragon 800. But if I were using an upgrade with a carrier, such as AT&T, I could get the Moto X for $99. It all depends.
Moto X for sure... The features on it are by far has the best features that people will really use than any other android has come out with for some time. I'm a geek an I chose the Moto X over the Nexus 5 for more reasons than I can say here. I've owned them all Samsung, HTC, LG as well as others. This phone just rocks!!!
***** that dont make no sense. the moto g has a smaller screen. it doesnt even have LTE. slower processor. no special features like burst shot, face/eye tracking, the list is too long for me to explain. the only edge it has over the s3 is customization. but whats the point if you end up putting a protective case over it which is what a good 70+% people do with their phones?
Will Ow he mentioned performance, not features. It's a stock android device with decent performance (hopefully stellar when it receives kitkat in January) due to optimization and enhancement by motorola, and it's also 180 USD off contract. It's THE bargain phone on the market as of now, and over doubling that price point to get a phone that is nearly two years old and receiving lessening support from samsung isn't necessary for a lot of people, especially for the target market for cheap unlocked phones.
Zain Shah Nexus 5 in my opinion. Better screen resolution, processor speed, and camera lag is no longer present due to an update. Nexus 5 will also get more updates directly from Google to fix and improve it because of the perfectly stock Android.
Zain Shah aw, you really shouldve gotten the moto x. All u have with the n5 is just red, black, and white with the moto x, you can get a completely customized phone, the camera is alot better, and seriously man, the nexus phones have shitty battery life all of em, the motorola products will get updates like a month later than the n5, sure the n5 has better specs, but who the hell is gonna see a mili second difference?
Good choise! The Moto X is very good on preformance, has a way better battery life, and is highly customizable! The Moto X has more features, and is cheaper, has a awesome back cover, with very comfortable curves, instead of the flat boring of the Nexus 5
Henkka Koira If you turn HDR on the camera, the pics comes out very nice and sharp! And about the CPU? Is not the fastest phone, but is pretty fast, not to complain of slowness!
You didn't even mention the three big features in the X that the N5 doesn't have. The "always listening" voice controls, the Active Notifications and Motorola Assist. Those alone make it better than the N5.
You can download an app called 'Dynamic Notifications' that provides the complete active notifications functionality, down to the screen wake, and breathing abilities. It's very customizable too. I used it on my S2 a while back. The N5 is always listening when the phone is on, which is perfectly ok for most.
Abdul Barrie Im going to be honest with you. You dont want a big phone. If you want big get a tablet. Also you wont notice the difference between 720 and 1080 at this small of a form factor.
After using both the Moto X and Nexus 5 I have to say that the Nexus 5 is my favorite of the two. The Moto X has the best sound quality and cool touch less controls, but the Nexus is much faster and smoother. To me the battery was pretty much on par, but Nexus 5 has better standby time. I felt the Moto X was a bit too small for me and the Nexus 5 felt like the perfect size, especially with it's 1080p screen. Both are great phones, I just wish the Moto X had the same price as the Nexus 5 and not priced $50 more.
Marques, Nexus 5 can have very good battery life if the brightness is toned down a bit because Google has chosen a very strange brightness adjustment curve. According to GSM Arena, Nexus 5 is almost 100% brighter than LG G2 when both phones are set to 50% brightness. Anandtech tested web browsing battery life with calibrated brightness (200nits), and the result is surprisingly good, even better than Note 3 in some conditions. Anandtech haven't published their full review yet but you can search for their leaked battery test in reddit. I really want a new nexus 5 that looks very similar to the old one, with updated specs, and a better camera, and maybe a bit more durable. I just really like the way the nexus 5 looks.
I bought the nexus 5 32 GB and absolutely love it. Noe I came to this from a blackberry but my tech background helped me in the transition. Now whycbasically grabbed me for this phone was the look, camera, screen size, price, and the huge jump of high end hardware inside. Absolutely love this phone best decision I ever made.

Wail Bouymaj I'd advice you to get the Nexus. The Nexus is the "official" Android device (coming from Google itself), so will have no problems with compatibily, updates,... Just like the iPhone have no problem with it, as it is an "official" Apple device. Same logic.

The battery on the Nexus five is really poor. its a two charge a day phone. Moto X battery is noticeably better (ik its smaller and such, but it really shows) Im using Nexus 5, disappointed in its poor battery.
@@JeremiahSmiith i know m8, just thought it was funny cause LG these days is nowhere to be found 😂 wish they had gone the way of the G5 but they offer literally nothing unique these days...
Nice comparison. I don't know what the price is of the Motorola Droid MAXX but that is also one I'd look into on #CyberMonday if I was on the search for a new phone.
At one time I had both of these devices at the same time. Although I liked the display quality of the Nexus 5 quite a bit better I actually preferred the Moto X overall over the Nexus 5. Well done, as usual, Marques. As I am sure you are aware, the Moto X does not have this. $350 is a good price, but a Moto G for $180 is even better, and that's not even a sale price
have you seen the specs of the moto g though?
True, but far from as good though. The Moto G is about equal to the S3 in performance.

Nexus 5 without a doubt. Higher specs. Same price.
Specs are far from everything when it comes to user experience.
Moto X IMO.
What happened to the specs when it comes to battery life?
What do you mean, Gren?
Moto X has a much longer battery life than Nexus 5 and still runs pretty well in my opinion
Happy Birthday Wishes to MKBHD
Power (nexus 5) vs optimization (Moto X)...... Wins Moto X
The Nexus 5 is easily faster than the Moto X, and is also heavily optimized, as it is the android flagship...
