    What I wonder is if those infrared sensors can be disabled. With the number of them and how active they appear to be, that could also be causing some notable battery drain.

      I almost always get a day plus on my battery so I'm hoping the tiny bump in size covers the screen upgrade and I'll be OK. What got me more concerned was the comment on the leather backs. But I'm still hyped can't wait to get mine _it's being assembled btw_

    Love how unbiased your reviews are. I tried to get this phone on cyber Monday but waited too long for the discount, so now I'm doing a lot of research before buying. If the nexus 6 wasn't a boat I would strongly consider it, I had the 4 it was amazing! My 1st gen moto x is getting old tho and I don't think I can leave the functional features I've gotten used to. The twist camera, talking to it without touching it, quick notifications, that's why I love this phone is all the cool features you actually everyday, they aren't gimmicks

  • @willdontrq

    I have a GS3 right now and I'm upgrading in a month and I'm stuck between the moto x and Note 4. My GS3 lags quite a bit plus the battery life isn't great plus I'm not a fan of touchwiz. I like the motox but battery life is a concern and Note 4 battery looks to be great as well as the specs. Also I will probably slap Google play launcher on the Note 4 if I get it.

      Nope, flagships too. Once a new flagship is out, they don't care about their 6 month old flagship anymore. Personal experience from owning an Xperia Z. Kitkat arrived in May this year and it was unusable, crap battery life, crap performance and reception bugs.

  • @saadi703
    @saadi703 10 лет назад +10

    It has poor display (very low brightness, bad color accuracy, old AMOLED tech instead of new one), bad camera, bad battery (2 hours on screen time? Wow!), even cheaper Moto G has stereo speakers and better camera than X. Oh boy a phone with so many compromises. At least on HTC One M8 you have to make two compromises only i.e. color accuracy and camera.

    • @EduardoVelezIII
      @EduardoVelezIII 10 лет назад +2

      You make good points, but it is only $499 off contact.

    • @saadi703
      @saadi703 10 лет назад +4

      Yes you are right and your point is valid but these days HTC One M8 is also cheaper than it's launch price and one can find it around 520-525 mark easily but then one might argue that it is more than 5 month old phone whereas Moto X (2014) sounds new although it have similar specs and in some cases worse specs (display, front facing stereo speakers etc.) I think Motorola has once again priced the Moto X higher than what it should be. They did similar sort of mistake last year and sale did not improved until they reduced the price. Sorry for my bad grammar :-)

    Just got the phone a week ago, and my reaction is completely positive. This feels so good in the hand, and it's very fast. Couldn't be happier. My previous phone was the 2013 Moto X which I also liked. Loving the big screen on the new one.

  • @atlien1988
    @atlien1988 10 лет назад +71

    ok...about to point out all the inconsistencies in these expert reviews lol
    The first thing I noticed is about the Moto X that as weird and awkwardly looking the successor is, it actually looks better. I thought last year's release was completely over hyped and over played when held in the hand....but that's just me.
    Awww hold on wait, did he just say he enjoyed the over saturation of the display (and it's very warm as I can see here)? Hahaha...man and Samsung catches so much criticism from their saturation on their displays (even tho more companies are starting to do the same, but 🐸☕).
    Hold on, did Motorola just include sensors that only detects hands waving across the screen to view notifications? This isn't a gimmick? Wow! The S4 launched with this same feature, but they extended it to allow for other things (like being able to swipe pictures in your gallery) and it was terribly bashed as a gimmick. Hell, I can get a quick glance of my notifications on my Note 3 and I think it's a neat feature. Comes in handy when I'm cooking and don't want to wash my hands just to see info on my phone. Gotta love those gimmicks.
    And of course, a mediocre battery and camera are only trade offs. They increased the screen size and utilized a Full HD display, with the same battery from last year....yeah good luck with that. They could have at least added software to improve battery life like GS5, M8, and OPO. 2.5 hours of SOT is a joke. And I'm not even going to discuss the camera. I've seen pictures of the Moto G stand toe to toe with the new X.
    Look, I personally think the X will be another solid phone. I personally like MKBHD, but I'm pointing out the inconsistencies that exist in these "expert" tech reviews. They criticize these same things on other devices, yet praise them elsewhere. IJS....
    Oh and btw, the Moto X is priced well and aggressively, but I have personally seen people purchase a other devices for the same $99 on contract or even free...and with some of the carriers offering customers the ability to jump between devices it's not an issue.....unless you pay full retail for the device upfront.
    Just my POV.

    • @RyanLoeffler
      @RyanLoeffler 10 лет назад +7

      Moto x 2013 had a horrible camera when first released, however now it is MUCH better.

Is the HTC worth the extra 100 in the long run or should I save the 100 and go with the moto x. Keep in mind that this will be my first smartphone. But if you're just looking for the better smartphone experience it's the Moto x all the way OR you can wait a little bit longer and get the NEXUS 6(NEXUS X) that's coming out very SOON and it's going to be a beast.

      Internal memory in phones are getting bigger so no need for a sd card slot while is not as reliable or fast, not to mention cloud storage they give it to you might as well use it; and removable battery, meh as long as the device gets you a full days of usage then what's there to complain about really? Shouldn't be a major concern unless you travel a lot and need a replaceable backup battery.

    • @bakirev
      @bakirev 10 лет назад +2

      TheMusketITuckedIt Cloud storage way slower and I don't have 24/7 wifi coverage and my plan is only 1GB.
      I have a class ten SD card and it's perfectly fast and reliable. It might be different on paper but I haven't noticed anything negative in day to day use.
      As for the battery I plan on using the phone for over 2 years and after that time period the battery health decreases significantly and you can just buy a new one and pop it in.

      There's a reason the US is the US. Hate it or love it, America is America. As a Chinese, I fully understand why he said what he said even I know majority of my fellow countrymen would have a comfortable living for 499 USD a month. There people just have different bars for this kind of stuff. Bill Gates or Warren Buffet may consider a private jet as a staple, but for the majority of the world it's beyond imagination. Whether something is "high end" or not really depends on the proportion of your income it takes...

      supermike980 This Moto X's gets 2.5hr - 3h screen on time according to Marques. The Z3C on the other hand is getting around 8hr apparently, I expect the full sized Z3 to be quite impressive as well. (maybe slightly less due to larger and higher res display). The battery on this phone is a deal breaker, along with the camera, and lack of microSD expansion.

    • @afin92
      @afin92 10 лет назад

      ***** It's actually the EXACT opposite. Everyone 'hates' Verizon because they are overpriced and take advantage of the consumer. However, they offer the best* coverage and when other carriers can't compete in certain areas, people settle and can justify paying the higher prices.
      Coverage really depends on the area, I'd argue that the favorite provider of the people is T-Mobile, just because of all the drama Legre, their CEO, is creating in the industry. They have a fantastic plan, just not the coverage yet. I want to love T-Mobile, but 2G and having to go outdoors to send or receive a text message was too much of a hassle, again, experiences vary upon location.

    Why are these phones getting so big? What happened to using a phone with one hand? Seems like Motorola and Apple have joined the herd of mega phones. It's really uncomfortable to use a phone with two hands. If someone is looking for a phone that fits in their hand then the penalty is lower specs. What gives?? Why don't they make mini versions that have the same specs for many of us that don't want to carry a TV in our pockets or up against our faces.

    • @EduardoVelezIII
      @EduardoVelezIII 10 лет назад +3

      I think the problem is that the better specs require bigger components, so the better specs wouldn't be achievable on a smaller phone. Unless it was monstrously thick.

Switched to a 6p in January just I just shattered and then extra shattered it (pretty much dead now, purple liquid (ink?) bleeding from the inside down). Honestly going back to this phone, it's still really, snappy camera has never been great, and the battery is doable. I do miss having hat fast charging though. Overall still a great phone.
