I love how he just sang the anthem without having it be a showstopping performance.
I wish Freddie Mercury was still living cause he would have rocked the shit outta the anthem. (Yes I know he wasn't US) but he's voice and theatrical flamboyant style was so entertaining.
TheOfficialCMAN That is literally the only exception I'll allow since Freddie FUCKING Mercury.
Isaiah Quidilla amen bro. Fredrick can rock any stage with any song. As an American i would have been truly honored to have heard him sing the anthem. fuck aids bro
+TheOfficialCMAN I miss Freddie so very much! The things he'd be doing with music today if he were still here!!
Because he wanted the game to get going as much as anybody else.
I like how he didn't make this about himself. He sang it, no b.s trills or showing off, respectfully and I'm sure it meant a lot to him. The players looked honored to have Billy there to represent. Just a good old ball game.
^Never seen live concert have you?
@@kevinzhang3313 I've seen him in concert multiple times - hes amazing live.
Billy Joel is the best
*simply ;)
and he performed it CORRECTLY; not adding the infamous "extra note" to the phrase "banner yet wave". good for him!!
jgraif Easier without a band or his piano.
That's all you have to do to sing the Anthem. Just like Billy Joel. It's not America's Got Talent, no need for the theatrics.
right?!
+BarrCode674 Yep! Definitely a time when it should be about the SONG, not the person singing it trying to make it his/her own! Just sing it straight up! THIS is how it's DONE!
completely disagree, this version came off as sarcastic and disrespectful to me, you don't need theatrics but you do need to present the meaning of the song to the audience (same can be said for any piece on any instrument)
agreed.
I also love Jimi Hendrix' version of this song.
no vocal gymnastics just billy with his baritone. effortless.
billy could sing anything and sound good.
What an honor to sing in his homestate .. sounded great !
He even sang it with a Nu Yok accent.
New York....?
Chelsea W that really flew past by you?
A completely class act. Been a fan since the start and still proud to be one.
He's like..yeah this is the song. OK I'm done now.
That is the anthem as sung by a baseball fan. Get it over with and get on with baseball.
So simple, so well done.🎉❤
That's the way u sing it!🇺🇸
Best singing ever... Lyrics all clear
Love you Billy Joel, fantastic!!!!❤️❤️❤️
Even though he was flat at times and I didn't really like his phrasing, I'll always enjoy hearing him sing.
Piano man
It's nice to hear him just sing the song without some long notes or what not but it sounds effortless and in effortless I mean as he didn't want to sing it.
I saw Billy Joel preform at Kaufman stadium recently. I kept expecting him to say something about The Royals beating his Mets. But not a peep... total class act he is. His drummer was even wearing a Royals Jersey> It was an awesome concert too!
I was there too. What an awesome night.
I truly admire Billy Joel; Love his Music. Joel got to where he did in Life, through God given Talent, and Hard Work. I'm dumbfounded why this tough, no Nonsense man would " EVER SUPPORT, BACK OR BUY INTO ANY LIBERAL DEMOCRAT WAYS, LET ALONE LIKE THE CLINTONS" .....
Clear!! It was a brilliant performance!
Easy does it. Way to sing it. Not a BIlly Joel guy, but thumbs up here for sure...
He should have sang the National Anthem every World Series game. Then the Mets would have won the World Series! Mets won this game.
He absolutely nailed his performance at Super Bowl XLI
He really should sing it at every big sporting event.
Lui è sempre nella musica non eccede ha talento e musicalità innati ... Ed è il più completo songwriter di sempre
I assume he’s a met fan since he also performed the national anthem in the 86 WS.
Used to be a Yankee fan... Probably just a New York fan?
It was sweet and simple, perfect for a baseball game
Billy Joel, that was phenomenal
And the hoommmee off daaaaaa braaaavvveeee.
Best ever!!!
angelvoice、Ever♥
That guy never needed autotune
Best ever
BEST PERFORMANCE!!!! Not like rest of all those show offs with their bullshit techniques. Simple and beautiful like it should sound 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Singing like there’s an entire symphony behind him
Even though his earlier ones are a bit better.
Fergie's anthem performance brought me here.
who needs a grand piano????
When have you ever heard the national anthem played with a grand piano?...
It is sick to think he did it better than everyone else. Sad
A lackluster performance from the Piano Man, but at least they didn't bury him in auto tune this time. Play ball!
Half million views and 700 likes pretty much sums up this performance.... zzzzzzz
Lol looks like someone failed their math exam
You're in a minority there
@@TheSkirvo Yes he is, Billy Joel sang it exactly the way it had to be sung, without going over the top
"Half a million views" I wonder what grades you got for math
I'm here bc I heard Fergie's and I needed to purify my soul. Thanks Mr. Joel.
Slightly phoned in though.
Better autotune effect this time, but just sing without it please…
it sounds like he's just talking or joking
He's a huge Yankees fan and pretty much hates the Mets.
the hands in his pockets
hahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahhahahahha
Omg I'm sorry but he sounds SO bored and annoyed at times he sounds like he has lunch after his performance so he tries to rush it and get it over with
I Think it's brilliant but I Think he didn't want it to be about him which is absolutely Billy. Sorry I disagree.
Cameramen are exempt from showing respect, for the sake of a cool or intrusive close up?
Too fast and missing his piano but BJ is always great
+lealsan Yes he did rush the tempo a bit. Years ago he sang it in "A".he dropped it down to "G" this time. Would be great though if he did it WITH his piano!!.....He does a great rendition of 'Take Me Out To The Ballgame" sometimes during concerts.
Cunnilingus is not too bad either.
I was super hype to hear this but now I'm actually reallllly disappointed... he sounds bored as heck... billy? -_- nooo!
Keep in mind, he's in his late sixties!
he sounds like he didn't enjoy it, he sounds so boring
I know your comment is nine months old, but you got to take into consistering that Bill by 2015 is 66 or 67, most older men and women start sounding a bit tired out and really can't sing high notes (if their singers) for that long due to age. I'm pretty sure Joel enjoyed it.
He sounds happy and excited when he performs live normally
Nothing special.
If the singing of the anthem is going to be this rushed and joyless, better not to even have it sung.
cringy
this was HORRIBLE lmfao
worst national anthem ever !!!! why joel??? why him???
why you?
He sang it with respect, and didn't try to show off, which is something that a lot of today's singers do (when they sing the National Anthem), unfortunately. He was far from the worst. Roseanne Barr, Fergie, and Chaka Khan were far worse.
Its just ok
