what a beautiful voice
I know, right? He’s one of the most talented musicians of all time, with many hidden gems if you take the time to look around for them.
37 years later I remembered I arrived at Shea late because I had driven down 3 hours from Western MA through tons of traffic to see this game. I was meeting a friend who had the tickets. I arrived just as the game started and missed Billy. This is the first time I’ve ever seen him sing at the game. Never too late and LGM.
i was at this game. as i was in 1979 when he sang the anthem at the rangers canadiens cup finals and in 2000 at the yankees mets world series game. i was lucky enough tosee billy joel sing the anthem in several decades. it was such an honor.

I wish people nowadays would sing the Anthem like how its supposed to be sung, like how Billy sings it. No fancy risks that ruin the whole song (aka fergie. wtf fergie. gtfo)
Grace Wallace Ikr. This Was Billy's best rendition of the national Anthem. Yet the other times he tried to do this song it just wasn't the same. the best one he done since this one was the time he had The Piano

I agree, though I do think it sounds better with musical accompaniment behind it, like a band or orchestra, or even a piano like in his other performance.
The worst ever. If I sing it like he did, I can sing to and I know I can’t sing at all. Give me a freaking break

I am the biggest Billy Joel fan in this world, non debatable the biggest! I know he’s the greatest singer songwriter to ever set foot on this earth but you can’t top Whitney’s rendition & Billy himself would say the same thing.
@@thetruth72667 Whitney's rendition is sensational, but I've always found the orchestration atrocious, it just ruins everything (sorry). This rendition doesn't have that issue. :D

I know Whitney hits more high notes, but that not what I'm looking for, I'm just looking for a pure, patriotic sounding version of the anthem, and this is it. So I like this one better.
