I loved learning that Jen’s “important work” was as a midwife, I thought that was really beautiful and harkens back to actual historical cases of witchcraft
I know the male medical establishment of doctors wanted to take obstetrics away from midwives in the 19th century. One wonders how many women died from infections because of that, since the germ theory of disease hadn't been formulated, and they said doctors would go from autopsying cadavers to women in childbirth and other sick people, perhaps without washing up very well.
i like her remark about "Do no harm" & how it can reference the atrocities many woman faced medically in the past & currently. Particularly the US high infant mortality rate. (being she's a midwife)
Alice was dealing with generational trauma which made her blame herself for everything bad in her life. Destroying the demon was representative of conquering her trauma. She felt lighter for a reason. Her depressed mood up to this episode was true to character.
I loved how they wrote that scene. The burn makes we’re from the curse perching on her shoulders but she felt lighter because at that point the curse was flying around landing on the others. The curse was literally weighing on her shoulders.
@VTTVpsycho I've correctly guessed who she was since the moment we saw her in the previews lol. But then again I'm a big fan of the comic character so I've been looking for any hint of her anywhere. Plaza and Brolin better meet somewhere along the line, now. I'll be complete

Not checking the box and preachy, but a 3 dimensional exploration of Alice. Also so many things to her story arc that represents soo much of Asian culture and experience. I loved this one!

I adore a future sighted person who is not only experiencing certain events out of order but as we learned this episode those lines are absent from their needed context too! My favorite episode is probably this one. I loved the interactions between Rio and Agatha!!!! There is something really tragic that happened and I love their complicated dynamic. I also agree with you that Agatha didn't give up her son for the darkhold.
Nothing major, but Jac Schaeffer said during an interview that the rule of "magic taking the path of least resistance" came from an interview she and her team conducted on practicing witches while writing the script. So I think we are getting tidbits of actual witchcraft mixed in with Marvel rules.

One thing I just caught is that in episode three, we see Agatha’s hallucination over a baby’s bassinet. And she told Jen that she left her alone because her work was _important._ Here, it’s revealed Jen was a midwife. So I believe Agatha’s son died during childbirth - which is why Agatha put great respect on Jen and her work as a midwife, knowing how vital her knowledge was to prevent what happened to Agatha from reoccurring. I believe Agatha began to hate Rio after Rio took her son from her after he was born, as was her job, with no choice in the matter. I believe this is why Agatha sought the Darkhold, to resurrect her son. And this violation of the natural law is what made Rio target Agatha, for trying to undo her _literal_ reason for existing. And the reason the sigil is placed on Billy could be to prevent Agatha from killing him out of spite due to her grudge with Wanda. I don’t think she ever walked the road. And most of her villainous reputation is just malicious gossip and misunderstanding. Which also was filled by her evil deeds when corrupted by the Darkhold, much like we saw with Wanda.
I think he died much later, but was born sickly, and THAT'S why Agatha wanted the Darkhold. He died while they (Agatha, Rio, and the rest of the original coven) walked the road. So she takes the Darkhold, feeling vindicated and thinking she'll have her son again, only to summon a rabbit instead.
You know, I wouldn't be mad if the Marvel TV corner of the MCU would just focus on the spooky and magical corner of the MCU with them building towards the Midnight Suns. It would make sense and could link each project more naturally than the random projects we've currently been getting.
It feels like that's their new theme, supernatural as opposed to multiversal. Daredevil and Ironheart both have explicitly spooky concepts involved from different perspectives: realistic religion, and science vs magick. Eyes of Wakanda could tap into the more spiritual, as well.
The colors of The Road (vines, leaves, mushrooms) seem to give away the upcoming trial. When they first entered, it was very blue and it was the potions witch. After that, it was orange (fire) and it was the protection witch. After they left this one, everything on The Road was purple so maybe Agatha is next?
They really missed an opportunity to get Stevie Nicks “The White Witch” to do a cover of Lorna’s version of The Ballad of The Witches Road! It would be so good
I loved this episode and it reminded me about the rumors surrounding Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac, because of the spell rumors and Stevie being speculated to being a witch
I forgot that episode 4 dropped tonight, so I can't watch your video yet. That said, I wanted to make sure I stopped by to give the algorithm a boost. Love the hat - you look fierce, Grace!
I think Teen might have a challenge now bc he was affected by the curse in this episode. Interestingly Rio wasn’t affected if I remember correctly. I wonder if after Sharon’s death Teen took her place in the coven and not Rio. The black heart could even be a misdirect and actually represent Teen bc Agatha associates him with her son.
@@ethanmattixI just thought of this as well but it makes even more sense bc the sigil prevents witches from knowing his name. Maybe his name is actually on the paper but the sigil turns it into the heart. Plus if it was Rio y not just have her name like all the other witches?
No I think it's more like the life cycle of life death and rebirth than Necromancy. Most of Necromancy is color in black, purple or white depending on the culture association.
@@WhitneyAllisonGG Hey!! Sure, except in the MCU, Hela is colored green and her necromancy is colored green. Hela is an aspect of a cosmic force in Marvel.
Have you noticed that the leaves on the road change color based on the next test? They were blue (for Water) in the first test, then red for the second test (for the Fire). They turned purple at the end of the 4th episode, so I bet Agatha is next!
Well Grace you weren’t lying when you said Aubrey Plaza has never looked better than how she looks in this series. The ep itself is good the witches are definitely getting closer and becoming a real coven.
OMG! I love Aubrey Plaza, n knowing the spoilers that info at the end was gold. That said this episode could had been a lot better like that song remake wasn't that good to me. Those ladies look great but as a Classic Rock Guy I was expecting more Grub for the ERA.
By far my favorite episode! I feel as though this show is only getting better as each episode drops. Plus the characters seem to become more and more likable as it progresses! Cant wait for ep. 5!
how in the world can you call this episode the worst one -- when it is easily THE BEST EPISODE by far! All the ladies' stories moved along. Kathryn Hahn showed tremendous range in her complex character. All the Teen-mystery near-peak goodness. And all that Aubrey Plaza/"Rio" goodness that happened is this ep? HANDS DOWN the best episode so far.

This Show is Fantastic So Far and I'm So Excited to see What Happens Next!!!
I have an insane theory that maybe teen placed the sigil on himself and what if it, a spell can be stored within an object, my guess maybe he or someone will destroy the curse book he has and in someway and it’ll also break the curse
I'm not sure who placed the sigil on Teen, but I assume it will break when he comes into his power. At that point, he'll be able to defend himself, so he won't need to stay hidden.
I had heard Grace saying it was her least favourite since the review embargo released so I went in primed expecting a less than stellar episode, but in fact it was one of the best, especially with the character development. I think as a music guy and someone who loves styles from the decades, they nailed it.
As a tragic acting nerd, I've actually started rewatching each episode to focus on the acting. I pick a couple of characters per rewatch and try to just keep focused on them, no matter what the action might be. It's easy to act with words to say, but delivering your character while someone else is speaking, without pulling focus, is harder... much harder. So far the two best are Aubrey and Joe (Kathryn does well too, but she gets a lot to say already). In Ep# 2 rewatch the scene where they meet ilia. Joe's eyes and body language have possibly more lines than Kathryn speaks. Once you see it, you start seeing it every scene.
I'm so surprised but this was actually my favorite episode after episode 1. Very haunting, exciting hints at reveals and I actually loved the 70's version of the song!
I’ve had similar theories but you’ve expanded on what I’ve already guessed. This is what’s so fun about the Wandaverse. Lots of wonderful stories, plot, world building and mysteries.
Agatha All Along is the first Disney+ show that my friends and family are watching with me! They don’t follow the MCU as closely as I do, but I think this show appeals to them because it has a fun Halloween vibe and is really entertaining!
I think Rio is the one who actually saved Teen with Jen! We saw how Rio’s healing powers work in episode 1 and then when the scar is healed, Agatha looks again at Rio and they share a glance, so I think Rio added to the spell too. But, it was a huge confidence booster for Jen too!
New Halloween classic group cosplay😊 really liked this episode, reminded me of some of the best Buffy moments, but with adult women. And I was thinking where is the "invisible tape" as well. Great looks and sets, some touching moments on top. Maybe Agathas son just died and she came along the darkhold via Rio somehow. And maybe they will meet Sharon and Agathas son through Lilias house and her powers.
yessss the hat! Love it. I wore mine as well. I really can't get enough of this show. I even watch the full credits cause I enjoy the images and the creepy vibes the outro gives.
I think this was my least favorite episode but it wasn't bad by any means. I was really hoping this was going to be my favorite episode because in WandaVision, this is the episode that hooked me. There was some really good stuff in this episode, though, so I'm excited to see what comes next.
Massive Spoilers I think Billy is lying only to keep his cover as to why he's walking. It's not just power for the sake of it. Kaplan already died, and this is Maximoff trying to get mommy back. It explains why his fingers were already influenced by dark magick, and how he was able to throw himself thru the window. He didn't think he'd get stabbed, though, it was just to make the other witches think he has less control than he does. If Agatha knew he wanted to get Wanda back, she would have never taken him.
notice how rio didn't get attacked by the curse. alice had to suffer through the curse for years, lilia was the first to get it, then jen, then teen got tossed through the glass, and it landed on agatha when they started playing. the only one it avoided was rio, which, if you consider the leaks, makes total sense because if she is who the leaks say she is, a curse could probably not affect her. i was pretty sure about her secret identity even before the first two episodes dropped, but i feel, even without the leaks, by now, it should be quite clear to most viewers who she reaply is
They made poor Patti look like a drag queen. Not a bad episode yet, though. Grace, you're completely right. Magic does take the path of least resistance. It was one of the lessons that I learned after one of my first spells went a little sideways. Also, Jennifer's line about 'do no harm', can be taken as the Wiccan rede. 'Do as thou will, but harm none'. The show is quite good at getting details like that correct. You can tell they consulted real practitioners of the craft. But obviously there's no real jets of power flying about. Loving this!! 🧹🐈⬛️🧙♀️
the character building is so top notch. watching wandavision 3 years ago we thought all agatha wanted was the power, but this show adds such a beautiful layer to it. i’m surprised at how much i’m loving every character in different ways.
The show kinda gives me a wizard of oz vibe. But kinda in reverse (they all get together first, then find their purpose along the way on the yellow brick road).
Nicolas Cage’s ‘Spider-Noir’ Newspaper Prop Seemingly Reveals Show’s Villain his newspaper he was holding while filming read, "Silvermane Survives in Skivvies." Silvermane - aka Silvio Manfredi - is a major criminal in the Marvel Comics.🎉🎉🎉
A big mistake a show can make aside from bad choices is becoming repetitive! I really hope that the next 4 episodes don't follow the same pattern as 3 & 4 did. They've done the whole new house being discovered, witches getting "affected" by the environment and then joining together to break the curse twice now and it's starting to feel stagnant. You can only do something so many times before it becomes a gimmick!
I think only episodes 3-7 will have the trial escape rooms, while episodes 8-9 will focus more on backstories and reveals. If you think about it Agatha All Along is following a somewhat similar format like WandaVision, but instead of sitcoms it’s escape rooms

Fleetwood Mac was on one of the walls in the house (in this episode). Like a plaque or record label press
“But I kept my souvenir cup!”
LMFAO 😂😂😂😂😂
This show is like The Golden Girls - the best part is the banter between the actresses. This episode just didn't have much room for banter.
Anyone watching this to kill time before episode 5 breakdown drops 😭
🔮 Agatha All Along is my favorite Disney+ original series since WandaVision 📺 I sincerely can’t wait to see where the story goes next!
What did you make of the masks with the shifty eyes Jenn was looking at? 👀👀
That is good. We're led to believe that it's her love for Rio, but her love for her son would be just as good.
@@ethanmattixI just thought of this as well but it makes even more sense bc the sigil prevents witches from knowing his name. Maybe his name is actually on the paper but the sigil turns it into the heart. Plus if it was Rio y not just have her name like all the other witches?
@@sonofposeidon835 I figured she just didn't see the future that clearly and the heart appeared which could be either of them.
His real name is actually Blake Hartigan. Lilia was just running out of ink and so scribbled a shorthand version!
The thing I found neat was Alice requesting the Advil, Rio's last name is Vidal which is an anagram of Advil.
I try to avoid these leaks as much as I can, so thank you for not explicitly referring to them! Great job toe-ing that line, thank you, Grace! ^_^
19:19 I thought Rio said “I get my BODIES”
This is what I came to comment I also heard bodies
Maybe they say green witch instead of nature witch because Rio is green like Hela is green (necromancy) and we were led to believe green meant flora.
When Grace said this was her least favorite episode a couple weeks ago, I was somewhat expecting it to be bad. Glad it wasn't the case.
Have you noticed that the leaves on the road change color based on the next test? They were blue (for Water) in the first test, then red for the second test (for the Fire). They turned purple at the end of the 4th episode, so I bet Agatha is next!
I noticed it. My feeling the last test is going be the Green Witch and what becomes before it is Lilia test.
Well Grace you weren’t lying when you said Aubrey Plaza has never looked better than how she looks in this series.
The ep itself is good the witches are definitely getting closer and becoming a real coven.
Yes. they really worked on her cosmetics. she is super attractive in a natural way.
HANDS DOWN the best episode so far.
amazing breakdown grace. soooo many things i didn’t connect until you pointed them out. keep up the great work 🫶🏼
My theory is Rio is Death. Makes sense from this episode.
Well…
Yes, the way Agatha said “don’t” to her as Teen was dying.
Awesome Video Grace!!! This was My Favorite Episode So Far! I Loved seeing Alice's Trial and Her Character Development And it was Great to see more of Rio Aubrey Plaza is having So Much Fun Playing This Character and I Love Her Complicated Relationship with Agatha Their Chemistry is So Good. This Show is Fantastic So Far and I'm So Excited to see What Happens Next!!!
Did anyone else notice the eyes watching them on the mask on the wall?
I have an insane theory that maybe teen placed the sigil on himself and what if it, a spell can be stored within an object, my guess maybe he or someone will destroy the curse book he has and in someway and it’ll also break the curse
Just thinking that since we had twitter blocked in Brazil few weeks ago, our spoilers problem just vanished....didn't see anything in other places
Next episode should be the Exorcist episode in the cabin!! Very exciting stuff!! 💜
Grace is killing the witch look
I'm not sure who placed the sigil on Teen, but I assume it will break when he comes into his power. At that point, he'll be able to defend himself, so he won't need to stay hidden.
No. It's not too sheer. It's New York Summer Casual! 💜💜💜
"Advil" is an anagram for "Vidal", so when Alice asked for someone bring Advil, she's literately summoning Rio "Vidal".
I'm so surprised but this was actually my favorite episode after episode 1. Very haunting, exciting hints at reveals and I actually loved the 70's version of the song!
YESSSSSS!!!!! SO EXCITED FOR THIS BREAKDOWN!!! Also, Grace you’re killing it on the fashion game!!! Thanks for the hard work ❤️
I’ve had similar theories but you’ve expanded on what I’ve already guessed. This is what’s so fun about the Wandaverse. Lots of wonderful stories, plot, world building and mysteries.
This is my favorite episode methinks-for the Rio of it all
Agatha All Along is the first Disney+ show that my friends and family are watching with me!
I even watch the full credits cause I enjoy the images and the creepy vibes the outro gives.
i was obsessed with the costumes, music and 70s vibe!! ♥️
I think this was my least favorite episode but it wasn't bad by any means. I was really hoping this was going to be my favorite episode because in WandaVision, this is the episode that hooked me. There was some really good stuff in this episode, though, so I'm excited to see what comes next.
Massive Spoilers
I think Billy is lying only to keep his cover as to why he's walking.
I liked how Rio did a little Wizards of Oz Dorothy dance when she started walking down the Road.
notice how rio didn't get attacked by the curse.
alice had to suffer through the curse for years, lilia was the first to get it, then jen, then teen got tossed through the glass, and it landed on agatha when they started playing. the only one it avoided was rio, which, if you consider the leaks, makes total sense because if she is who the leaks say she is, a curse could probably not affect her.
i was pretty sure about her secret identity even before the first two episodes dropped, but i feel, even without the leaks, by now, it should be quite clear to most viewers who she reaply is
LOVE THAT SHIRT!!!! Oh, and the episode lol
Thank you so much for this! I'm having so much fun with this show and your breakdowns. It's an incredible package deal ❤
This was my favorite episode. When they did the split shot of Alice and Lorna as they were banishing the Demon I thought that was really beautiful.
Patty was channeling liza minelli I think
Grace, thank you for your breakdowns. I appreciate all of the time and energy you’re putting into exploring these episodes. This show is so much fun!
the character building is so top notch. watching wandavision 3 years ago we thought all agatha wanted was the power, but this show adds such a beautiful layer to it. i’m surprised at how much i’m loving every character in different ways.
@@dylanj739 , exactly! And I don't think the inside of the "houses" will always LOOK like a typical living room etc. Because the trailer had a clip of that Wizard Of Oz witch's lair 💚🖤 (can't wait!)
They compare scars in Jaws and Dreyfus points to his chest and says "she broke my heart".. in Lethal Weapon 3 Riggs and Lorna compare in a flirty way.. Plazas slinkey eye acting was everything in this episode
Rio was also almost certainly the black heart that was prophesied to be there anyway.
Thanks queen! Love all your witch outfits!
Grace where me Ep 5 review at girl 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Maybe Wiccans powers being similar to Wanda’s kept him alive, and now he’s trying to bring his twin back too?
I loved how Agatha asked Rio not to do something and because I know the leaks it made sense ❤ ugh that moment was *chefs kiss also my favorite episode was 3
The 2nd blank title card you showed with the woman in a witch mask belongs to Okwui Okpokwasili who plays Vertigo, one of the Salem seven. She was the one we saw in episode 2. The one who's face we saw a glimpse of wearing a mask. It was her title card in episode 2. So I'm guessing she will make a return at some point.
Loved when "teen" was hurt she said "NO" To the coven then looked at Rio and said "NO" But with a heartbreaking tone as if she was recalling when Rio came for her son. Nicholas. Rio then understood and aloud the teen to be saved. Clear but subtle clues she is death incarnate.
yeah i went back and looked at patti lupones future lines she says TRY TO SAVE AGATHA and ALICE DONT i wonder how this will play out maybe her trial will be one of the last ones
this show really is interesting. I feel sorry for people who chose to miss it because they're too arrogant and sceptical
I've learned to never be surprised by the power of "the dumb"
Hi Grace, I always love your breakdowns.
Now that we're all on the same page in regards to episodes watched, should we expect it to take longer to get your breakdowns?
Like for next week, will your breakdown still come out the same night or should we plan to wait for the next day?
