  • Welcome to Day 3 of 12 Days of Last Minute DIY Gifts! In this sewing tutorial I teach you how to make a super quick and beginner friendly lip balm cozy. You only need two small pieces of two different fabrics and some lightweight fusible interfacing for the body. The closure is up to you! I use plastic snaps but you can also use hook & loop tape, metal snaps or magnetic snaps.
Find more info on supplies and other projects in the blog post here: craftygemini.co...
Here is a list of the supplies I used in this project and my affiliate links on where you can purchase them:

Hey! I have been watching your videos like crazy because, you are such an excellent teacher! I'm brand new to sewing and I was pretty scared to do anything until I found you! Thank you so, so much for making a beginner like me feel like I can actually make beautiful things! You give me confidence, and your by far the best teacher I have found! And believe me....!... I've seen at least 100 videos in this past week!

April 2019...I’m learning a lot from watching your videos. I’ve made myself an ironing board, after watching the video. For the wood bit, I had a small box shelf, it was ideal. I used an ironing mat, that I bought cos I thought it would be better. But it wasn’t. So I folded it in half, and stapled it to my box, then covered it with a pillow case, to match the curtains and duvet cover in the spare room/ my sewing room. It works perfectly well. I’m very pleased with it. Thank you!
Now, I’m making the lip balm case. I’ve already made a glasses case, a drawstring bag, and a bookmark...all in the same fabrics. They are for my sisters birthday, next week.

I have some similar sized pouches I've made, but without the snap flap closure, and I wasn't sure what to do with them in terms of telling folks how they can be used. I did think a mini manicure kit (mini Emery board and nail clippers) could work but didn't try the small lotion tube. Thanks for the idea!

Hi Vanessa, thank you for this great tutorial! I don't know if you still look here, but I had been wanting to replace my old, old, old, lipstick holder which had a really pretty silky Chinese design fabric, a little mirror on the inside of the flap, and it snaps close. I'm going to rip the little rectangular mirror from the old case, and glue it to my inside flap, so I can always apply my lipstick, no matter where I am. They still sell the Chinese ones on amazon, but people complain that they come with a really nasty odor. yuck! You just gave me a quick and fun alternative!!! I'm going to make more as gifts, although they won't have the mirror (which by the way measures 3" x 3/4").

I thought this would be cute to make with a flannel lens cleaning cloth inside for a few of my granddaughters. Then I thought of a couple grandsons that would be a little jealous. I thought it might be too girly for them so I made them out of camo print cotton with camo print flannel cloths. They are so cute and my husband decided he wanted one for his rifle scope. Now I think I have about 25 to get made before Christmas‼‼
