Z50 should be looked at if: 1. You want good autofocus for video and photo (eye af) 2. Don’t want to break the bank for new tech 3. You own DX lenses or like having crop 4. Need fast fps (11) 5. Need great IQ at low cost 6. You have nice glass (1.4, 1.8, and 2.8)
Tony is an idiot. Unlike Canon's M series, you can use the manufacturer's best full frame lenses with the Z50 because it has the same mount. You're not limiting the APS-C lineup to crappy lenses that they MAYBE make for the mount. Even for Canon the focus will be the more expensive cameras and the RF mount so M users will be left with crappy kit lenses with lacking apertures. Edit: or you have to adapt the full frame mount and then you have an adapter making that small system massive.
I was planning on upgrading to xt3 from my d5500 because I’m making short film now, but I tried z50 in Best Buy and it totally blew my mind. It feels just like d5500 in my hand but with way better specs. The only flaw I found besides the lack of ibis is the dim and small EVF compared to z6.
Great video. You convinced me to get it. Great photo examples also. I love how you make things simple to understand and dont try to complicate explanations of features.
8:42. I agree. You would think Sony would listen to the criticism after all these years using the same terrible body as the a6000 (with minor tweaks). I don’t understand why they insist on keeping an unnecessarily small body with no meaningful grip because as soon as you put lenses on it the a larger grip will disappear and feel good in your hand anyway. I had the a6400 and the a6000 before that and I just couldn’t stand that body.
Its ergonomic is the best in the market imo. EOS R and Z6/7 all have decent grips but no where near the feeling when you hold the z 50 tightly in your palm.
Just came across this video (in June 2021). Very well done...you address very practical, user-centric concerns in real world ways. And really like your photos, especially the low light portraits (cool reflections on the woman's glasses). Thanks, I've subscribed.
Nice vid. What anyone can do is tension the neck strap out in front of yourself to stabilize footage and can be done for low angles with next to no camera shake
Lens VR does not take precendence over IBIS, just that lens VR is more effective with telephoto lenses because of the longer lens form factor. Even the new Z mount 70-200 has VR even though in most cases that lens is being used on a body with IBIS. When you turn off VR in the lens it makes sense for all stabilization to be turned off because it's common practice to disable VR when using a tripod or something like that.
This was a really good and informative review - helped me work out out a few things...much appreciated! I notice you also have the detachable z series camera neck strap 2:49, I've been trying to get hold of one of those - do you know where I could get one bro?
Excellent video, very helpful. One thing I would like Nikon to change is to make the d-pad programmable with each directional selection. For aspc I lean towards fugi because of mature lense selection.
Thank you! Yeah I’d love more customizable functions and maybe even being able to move AF points with the back screen when you have your eye to the viewfinder
very good review, i use the z50 on my gimbal and z6 as my static, and preforms extremely well almost if not as good as my z6, I am thrilled with this cam and it is a keeper, the Z line has lifted my cinematographer work to a new level
I've been a Nikon Shooter for last 9 years and yes have lot's of f mount lenses. Looks like the perfect entry point for me into the mirrorless world! Thanks for the video!
Thnx a lot for your amazing video. Plz I have a question, I have three lenses for nikon : nikor 35, Tamron 90 & Tamron 18-270. Do you know plz how these lenses work with nikon z50!!!?? I have to know if I should buy nikon z50 or not!! Thank you 😊
Hi bro, thanks for great conntens. I am considering Z50 with it''s lens kit. Have you ever tested it with kit lens 16-50mm and how was quality for street, lanscape photos? I have my 85mm f1.8G lens (F mount) and considering connect to Z50 by FTZ mount, is there any disavantage or problem with FTZ mount? I heard that it may reduce Auto focus performance or even image quality.
Hello! I have a D750 câmera with some full frame glasses. What’s do you think about having a Z50 for travel camera using an adapter (FTZ). I have a 24-70 2.8 and a 70-200 2.8 lens. Thanks for the review! Greetings from Brasil !
Great review. The best I've seen so far. I have a LOT of Nikkor DX glass. The Z50 with the two lens kit along with the FTZ adapter would allow me to sell my G85 while expanding my glass selection in mirrorless. Thanks for this in depth review. It answered all my questions. BTW... I only shoot for myself, so $$$ is a big deal.
Kenny, the biggest issue I have so far is with Z lenses and that they are so much freakin better than F lenses, that all I want to do is sell my F lenses to get Z lenses. Im getting ready to sell a few now. I only plan to keep the 20mm f1.8G, because a) it is godlike for landscapes and b) the focus is mechanically interlocked which works better for astro than fly by wire focus in my opinion. The rest of the F lenses must go.
I am interested in switching from my entry level nikon d3400 with a 35mm and kit lens to a new Camera. I'm currently borrowing an a6300 but idk where to go to?? What do you all think?
This review is 🔝💯 I consider to buy a mirrorless camera and think to be this. I know, that you show many things about this model, but some more in future or? 😁
Tell me please, is the photos you showed in this video were retouched ? Or it’s a trend I don’t know about- blue color of the leaves on the trees? Because I saw a different backstage video in RUclips with beautiful portraits in the final ( retouched) but with real blue undertones of the green leaves on the background. Mostly it’s happened when green trees or bushes with red flowers or berries.
Great review man, subbed! I shoot with a D750 right now, mostly street and portraits, looking for something lighter that I can travel with and carry for hours. Would you recommend z50 with 16-50 and 50 1.8S ? Kinda wish they included FTZ with the kit
thanks dude! Yeah definitely! The 50 1.8S is a super sharp lens it's amazing. I do agree with you though, would've been nice to have the FTZ with the Z50!
Hi .. I love the review of this camera and I believe it’s a little great one , but I wondering how will perform as a entry level for bird o wildlife camera!? I shoot with a D7200 +300 f4 and I get beautiful photos but with how this will work?! Any thoughts.. the 11 FPS is nice a least on specs..
Great review dude! Did you check some 3rd party f-mount glass performance with the FTZ adapter? Would be very useful. E.g. Sigma has 17-50mm f2.8, 18-35mm f1.8 and 50-100mm f1.8 glass with IS. Wonder how these and similar lenses behave on an mirrorless body.
Just want to ask one question as u have got both Z6 and Z50. Somebody told me that Nikon Z50 don't have customized AF tracking settings in still mode as compared to Z6. Is that right. I m little worried as they mentioned that kit lens can't track people properly in low light or at night. Thanks
If there was a Sigma trio available for the Z50 I'd definitely buy one. Shame they missed the opportunity to put IBIS into such a large mount with room to move.
Got a Fuji XT3 apsc camera… I was shooting with full frame before, no regret and i can save some money to get some lenses. Guess It's kind of the same feeling with Z50... Of course it's worse in low light situation but I rather get 2 or 3 more fast lenses and bump my creativity than having a low light clean image
Wow finally a real world review I can find info about using good glass with it, I honestly believed z50 had a lot of potential but everyone kept reviewing it like it was a d3500 or something like that
How to say goodbye to 2019

I didn’t even notice! 😂
Z50 should be looked at if:

The best z50 review on youtube. Informative, nice looking and shows practical sides of the camera. Thank you.
Glad you found it useful! Cheers!
That skillshare ad was brilliant!
Thank you! Glad you liked it hehe 🙏🏻
Can't wait to see you grow to a million-plus subscribers. Great review!
Thank you, Brandon! Appreciate the kind words 😊
One of the best Z50 reviews I have seen. Skillshare ad next level.
thanks, Doug! cheers man!
Tony & Chelsea Northrup
should watch this review! great one bro
haha maybe they'll see it! thanks dude!
F@ Tony and Chelsea. Their photos are mediocre.

That silver haired weasel zipper would never. How can you trust a review done by a couple related to the war machine group, Northrup Grumman.

The Z50 is really great man! Did you go for it?
your video content is so top notch! keep them coming :)
Thank you! For sure hehe
Brilliant review 👏 I was going to get the z5 but thinking now shall I save money and get the z50 what your advice on this ?
Great video. You convinced me to get it. Great photo examples also. I love how you make things simple to understand and dont try to complicate explanations of features.
Nice job at 8:21 making the Z6 with the 24-70 look absolutely massive by including that lens hood while omitting it from the Z50. Lol.
I just added this camera to my cart and needed a little motivation to make the purchase. Great job bro
Love the sponsorship advert. Ingenious! Great review, many thanks.
The fact I'm im watching this in September 2020, I can say I learned a lot. I'm leaning to have the Nikon Z50 as my first camera. Great content!

Thanks for sharing your video. The most favorite part was the video test between the two cameras.

grabe! ang ganda and detailed review...thank so much Gab!
Thank you hehe glad you liked it!
This video is dope, it is very informative. Considering this camera for that sweet Nikon colour I missed.
Thank you! I think you'll enjoy it if you like Nikon color.
I'm so damn jelly of this Nikon branded Peak Design strap.
This was a really good and informative review - helped me work out out a few things...much appreciated! I notice you also have the detachable z series camera neck strap 2:49, I've been trying to get hold of one of those - do you know where I could get one bro?
Thank you! Got one from Singapore! You can check out my View Finders video to see where hehe

Hello! I compared my nikon d7200 with nikon z50! Surprise and slight shock! I recommend looking
very good review, i use the z50 on my gimbal and z6 as my static, and preforms extremely well almost if not as good as my z6, I am thrilled with this cam and it is a keeper, the Z line has lifted my cinematographer work to a new level
Truly! Such a good gimbal camera and for overhead tripod shots!
Loved this video. Would u plz guide me that what would be better for z50 between 35mm 1.8s and 50mm 1.8s??
35mm as it's a crop sensor body. You will have around 52.5 focal length with it.
i was a nikon shooter sold all my old Nikon DSLR body. Now looking for a mirrorless Z50 or Z5 was on my list
Oh yes just what I needed, would it be possible to share some of those low light portrait files? Curious to see exactly how the noise is
I'll try to get them up here!
I've been a Nikon Shooter for last 9 years and yes have lot's of f mount lenses. Looks like the perfect entry point for me into the mirrorless world! Thanks for the video!
Excellent review..very much informative and covering almost all issues of this model..
Thanks!
Incredible work!!
Very well thought out vid. The only minus was you saying the z50 was nikon's 1st venture into crop sensor mirrorless. You forget the Nikon 1 series.
Nikon 1 series has a smaller CX sensor. To be specific, the Z50 is the first Nikon APSC Mirrorless.
Please mention that there is no port for external intervalometer. This is a downside for ASTRO and long exposure photo
I already have a D750, want to focus more on video. Should i get a Z50 ?
In the same boat. Lmk what you did.
Thnx a lot for your amazing video. Plz I have a question, I have three lenses for nikon : nikor 35, Tamron 90 & Tamron 18-270. Do you know plz how these lenses work with nikon z50!!!?? I have to know if I should buy nikon z50 or not!! Thank you 😊
Is it a good camera for street photography?
Great video! Is the image quality, iso performance and dynamic range, a lot better than nikon d3500?
"I'm looking at YOU, Araneta" so trueee
WAHAHAHA MOA forever
nice video
i have a question is 50 to 250 good for landscape or let say group picture?
thanks for the reply
subs done
How does the Z50 perform with F mount full frame lenses? Better off to spend extra $ for the Z5?
Hi bro, thanks for great conntens. I am considering Z50 with it''s lens kit. Have you ever tested it with kit lens 16-50mm and how was quality for street, lanscape photos? Does the FTZ adapter have the AF screw for lenses like the 50mm f1.8d?
Nope! Autofocus only works on AF-S lenses.
@@gabpolitely Thank you!
I need to move to z50 from Nikon d750 for video.
Well done review of this sweet little tool!
Fantastic review. Did you get a chance to compare against D7500, particularly low light photos?
Very detailed and honest review. Worth considering Z50
Lens nikkor z24-70mm f4, can be used for the z50? Can you do the test video?
Hi, at the same price point of z50 which is the best latest camera for photography??
It was really nice review to watch, thanx
Just nicely explained brother..how does z50 perform for wildlife also?and can I take it for some professional shoot ??
Amazing review. Very detailed and thorough
Thank you very much 😊
@@gabpolitely I have purchased the Z50 as well... so this was a really big help.
That’s great! Enjoy your camera!
Thank you, this was a fantastick job you did!)) I disaided to buy this camera thaks to your review! Thumb up))
hows the battery life on the z50. im looking to use one to video weddings.
What type of memory card do you use? How fast does it read and write? Thanks
Amazing video! loved it and thank you for sharing!
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
Fantastic video - I ordered my Z50 after watching it! :)
Excellent video! Your YT videos are so good.
Are you able to give me a link to the camera strap? Peak design by Z series?
I am making the jump from d3300 to this. Should wait and build a budget for a better body or z50 is fine
am planning to buy a camera but I dont know which one for my video use nikon Z50 or a6400 please help.

nice review, but low down the music, is to loud and I need to lower volume every time is playing.

Please Review with Sigma Sigma 50-100 f1.8 + Nikon Z50 is Autofocus Compatible or Not ?

gabpolitely thanks for your answer
Great review thank you. Is the Auto focus working with 3rd party lens and f-mount Nikon lens like 50 1.8g. I meant for video and stills
Thanks! Yeah definitely works really well through the FTZ adaptor!
Def best z50 review I've found!
I have z6 d850 and I will get this camera as a traveler camera 📷
It would definitely be a great travel camera!
Where did you get that PD style strap with the Z logo

Wait. Where did you get the PD strap?
got it from Nikon Singapore!

I m little worried as they mentioned that kit lens can't track people properly in low light or at night. Thanks
Hey! Nope! AF system is practically the same. Oddly enough I feel like the Z50 is even a bit better than the Z6 in terms of tracking people.
@@gabpolitely thanks for the reply..
Can you use the z50 glass on the z6? Would love to know how that pancake lens works on the 6 or 7.
Since it’s a Z mount you can, but it’ll kick into DX mode!
Thanks for that info!
If there was a Sigma trio available for the Z50 I'd definitely buy one. Shame they missed the opportunity to put IBIS into such a large mount with room to move.
That would be amazing! But yeah maybe they’re saving it for a higher-end Zx0 camera in the future!

Of course it's worse in low light situation but I rather get 2 or 3 more fast lenses and bump my creativity than having a low light clean image

how do you screen record the Electronic Viewfinder?
Is nikon z50 good to buy or any other in same range ?
What is the video camera you're using to record this video ?

That eye AF! Nice video Gab!
Thanks dude!
Do you still recomend this camera?
Great review brother,subcribed❤🙏
Can Nikon z50 live stream over WiFi? thanks
Kamusta ang kit lens niya na kasama? Good din ba for sports photog? Low light? Thanks...
It's good but for lowlight and sports photography I'd recommend a prime and the 50-250 respectively
Good vedio .. is it better than fuji xt30 and canon m6 mark2?
Thanks! Can’t say for sure as I haven’t tried those cameras out yet hehe
what is your apsc experience, using the d300 right now, very interested in upgrading the camera
I’ve used the Canon 60D and the Sony a6300! The Z50 is leagues above those two
@Syed Haisan Jafri I haven't tried that one
That was THE BEST SKILLSHARE AD IVE EVER SEEN!
Thank you!
