Hi! I really enjoyed your video - quick question. While I really like the idea of adding foil to my labels, is it economical? Not just money wise, but in time and effort. Do you find the process still efficient enough that you are comfortable completing large numbers of candles orders?
Personally it feel economical to me. I made 400+ candles and 270+ wax melts back in August of 2020 and the labeling with foil took me 1.5hrs max. So I don't think it's "deterrent" if you will. And it's a great attribute that catches the customer's eye. Also I get compliments on my labels that they look professional.. could be the foiling. Hope that helps.

Thank you!!!! I've been wanting to do my own foiled labels for my candles but didn't want to spend thousands on printers - yet! AMAZING! Question though - How did you do the colored labels? Right now the background color of my labels is black with white and foil text. Do you just print the color on the white labels for the background, or do you get your color labels elsewhere and then foil them at home?
Print the color part first from your inkjet printer. Then print in black on your laser what you want to foil. That will go over top of the inkjet color print out
Hi I am literally a new subscriber today! I wanted foil on my labels a more professional look and I came across your video, like what!! Love the video but I am a lil confused do I need a laser and inkjet printer. I am seriously going to try this before I pay for someone to this for me! Please help!
So glad you are a part of the Clarity Crew! You will need a inkjet printer and a laser printer if you want background colors that are not foiled. If you want the entire label print out foiled and don't about background color, you only need a laser printer. Does that make sense? Please let me know.
Thank you so much I've been wrecking my brain for 2 days on how to do this I was actually trying to do it on the Cricut Machine with their foil and it just was not working
i enjoyed this video it helped a lot. I did try to print color on the label using inkjet and then laser printer for what i wanted to foil; but it keeps getting jammed. when i use it on just the plain avery white gloss label without color it goes through. Any suggestions/tips.
Use the manual feed so it won't get jammed. Mine does it too and drives me insane. It didn't use to so I think Avery changed something with their labels.
If I wanted the entire label to be foiled, would I cut a bigger piece & do the same process you just did with the lettering of your label? Also, where would I get the plastic sheets? I wanted copper foiled labels for my candles. Very informative video!! ☺️
Whatever you have printed in the laser toner will stick to the foil. I covered the entire sheet on the video but only what printed in laser toner picked up the foil. I don't think I had plastic sheets in the video but heidi minc has a plastic folder you can put the paper and foil in then run it through the laminator. Hope this helps!😁

Ok so I rewatch again as a teacher we are ready to laminate everything!! So I have an inkjet.I then make my copies wherever on laser printer! Then follow along happily!@@SimpleClarityCo
So the alignment can be adjusted on the printer with the manual... or sometimes it needs to be adjusted in the program that you are creating the labels in. For instance I have issues with my Jumbo candle Labels from Avery. I have to adjust them 1/16in down and right before I create the PDF in the Avery program. But it's ONLY for those size labels. The others don't need any adjustment before creating the pdf to print from Avery.
So crazy because I was just about to do that this past weekend since my inkjet printer wanted to act up. But then I told myself NO. Since laser printers use heat to transfer the toner to the paper, I didn't want the foil to touch the heat of the roller and stick to my roller in my printer. I had a wholesale order and couldn't afford for anymore hiccups😂
I'm a little confused what you mean by spot? If you print it all with a laser printer and just put foil over a certain part of the black toner, The other black toner you don't cover will stick to the blank printer paper and when you pull the printer cover paper away it will lift some of that black toner from your project and make it look dull.
@@SimpleClarityCo Ahhhh I see. So it should be all foil or nothing? kk Thanks! I just got a color laser printer and wondered if I'd be able to put foil on certain parts of the design (not all)
@@SimpleClarityCo I get it now. You run the label through an inkjet printer first. then you feed it through again with the second image on a laser printer. The foil will stick to the laser printer ink, and not the inkjet ink. I got it!!!! :)
Does foiling work on the matte sticker paper or do you need glossy paper? I have tried with matte and got a lot of spotting with my foil. So I'm not sure if its my Hp laser printer or my scotch laminator or my sticker paper? Any advice ?
Yes it works on matte as well. I would say let you laminator go for about 7-10minutes before running the paper through. Once you run it through peel it off immediately and you can only do about 4 sheets before you need to let the roller heat back up in the laminator. I usually wait about 5minutes in between sets of 4. Hopefully that helps
Will you please advise the program you use to design your labels? I’ve listened to your video several times but still not sure of the name of the program. It sounds like your saying “camo”.
Hi! I’ve been struggling with my gold foil candle labels and it’s keeping me from launching so I’m hoping you can help 😭 My gold foil is sticking to the whole sheet of paper. I’m using black vinyl adhesive sheets that I got from Amazon by a supplier called EZ Crafts. I’m using the Heidi Swapp Minc machine and same for gold foil. I’m using a Brother laser printer. I figured out that it’s my vinyl that is the issue because when I tested this method on a regular sheet of paper I had around the house it worked perfectly. So my question is- have you ever gold foiled on vinyl and if you have can you tell me what brand of vinyl you use? Thanks!
I believe you have to use transfer paper/transfer tape and then apply it to the vinyl rather than foiling directly onto vinyl. Look up "using transfer tape to foil vinyl." Good luck!!
love your video, i think you've explained it well. Thank you. Ive got a question, ive got a colour laser printer and tried foiling, it didn't come out so good, could it be the printer? i have been told not all laser prints foil?? please help thanks in advance
@@SimpleClarityCo firstly i used the foil, shiny side to the paper :) in a laminator, then i reprinted and pit the dull side down and put it under my heat press and it didn't come too good, it ws like glitter effect, if you understand what i mean
@@tahrabutt70 nope.. print in all black, place the foil shiny side up.. put the piece of computer paper over the shiny side of the foil. So it should be a sand which your printed project in black only the foil (shiny side facing you) then copietbpaper.. let your laminator heat up for about 7min and then put it through
On the template make your background black and print it on the inkjet printer. Then print your writing in black on that same sheet of paper on the laser printer. When you run it through the laminator with the foil.. the foil will.obly stick to the black writing from the laser printer
I watch u...thought u were gonna say...Welcome to Motherhood 😂. I have 3 boys...I totally get it. U live to create...& some of the creations don't want u to create anything else 😂🤣
I make the label in canva in whatever size I need for my avery label. You can just import you 3/4 image and resize it to a 2x2 in avery. If it doesn't look distorted then go for it but if it does I would make your original design the the 2x2 size
You can use only a black and white laser printer if you'd like. Whatever you print from the laser printer will be the other part that gets foiled. I only use the inkjet for other colors in my label.
I just love how you demonstrate getting it done baby and all! You’re an inspiration to moms everywhere. Thanks for a great video. 💗

The cricut foil will work like the Quill foil I talk about in the video. Not good for this method.
Hey I love this video! So can you confirm you used two different printers for this? One ink jet or a laser printer to achieve this label right?
Yes you are correct in that assumption. Print inkjet first then do laser. 😁
@@SimpleClarityCo thank you!
i enjoyed this video it helped a lot.
New subbie! I must admit, Mr. Handsome caught my attention, but; you kept my attention (very informative)! Thanks so much!
Awe thank you so much and I'm glad i could help! Welcome to the Clarity Crew haha
Good luck with your business! You are awesome!
Thank you so much! You're so sweet!!!
@@SimpleClarityCo thank you! ☺️
Awe I LOVE THIS VIDEO!! ESP because of the beginning 👶🏽 your baby is sooo beautiful.
I will have to watch this all over again because I got so confused... lol guess it’s the old age, but thanks so much for this video!! I love love love your labels
Awe thank you soo much! And anything your are confused on I will 100% try my best to explain it in further detail!
@@SimpleClarityCo awe thanks so much!! Once I’m ready for this level I will certainly come back and ask.. this is BEAUTIFUL WORK! God bless you and your business!!
@@tawanalm omg thank you so much for that blessing. It honestly means so much to me! Many blessings and positive vibes your way!! Good luck!
@@SimpleClarityCo Your sooo very welcome and I receive your blessings as well...
This was an extremely helpful video! Thank you.
So glad to help!
Hello so is it safe to say you are using the heat from the laminator? No laminating involved? I watched & rewatched this video is so good!!
Yes correct no laminating its the heat that transfers the foil to the laser toner. 😊
Ok so I rewatch again as a teacher we are ready to laminate everything!! So I have an inkjet.I then make my copies wherever on laser printer! Then follow along happily!@@SimpleClarityCo
Got it!! Staples & I are now friends🤗
Thank you so much. This is a very helpful video. I appreciate you.
You are welcome! I'm glad I could help!
I love the video great job bravo kudos so helpful
Thank you!!
I'm having an alignment issue with the brother laser printer. Did you have to solve this problem? And what did you do?
So the alignment can be adjusted on the printer with the manual... or sometimes it needs to be adjusted in the program that you are creating the labels in. For instance I have issues with my Jumbo candle Labels from Avery. I have to adjust them 1/16in down and right before I create the PDF in the Avery program. But it's ONLY for those size labels. The others don't need any adjustment before creating the pdf to print from Avery.
Oh I had a quick question. Have you ever tried to run Foiled labels through a laser printer to add the non-foiled parts afterwards?
So crazy because I was just about to do that this past weekend since my inkjet printer wanted to act up. But then I told myself NO. Since laser printers use heat to transfer the toner to the paper, I didn't want the foil to touch the heat of the roller and stick to my roller in my printer. I had a wholesale order and couldn't afford for anymore hiccups😂
How do you do this when making the background colored, like your pink candle🥰
Print that part on the inkjet printer first. Then go and do your laser part afterwards.
Hi! How do you spot foil your labels? Just place foil on the separate sections then send through? Please and thank you!
@@animn469 boom! That's it lol
Thank you. I love this info.
You're so welcome!!! So glad I can help!
I love this video. How mu h does it cost per label with this method?
Hmm maybe 1.25 max... I'll have to do a cost breakdown video for my channel one day!. Thanks for that idea
why did you use ink jet? Could you do all with the laser?
No because the foil will stick to everything that comes from the laser printer
Will you please advise the program you use to design your labels? I’ve listened to your video several times but still not sure of the name of the program. It sounds like your saying “camo”.

Do you need tonprint with a laser printer for the foil to stick?
yes. The foil only sticks to the toner from a laser printer
Thanks!
I don't think you can foil vinyl. I've never tried it before but I'm intrigued now
I believe you have to use transfer paper/transfer tape and then apply it to the vinyl rather than foiling directly onto vinyl. Look up "using transfer tape to foil vinyl." Good luck!!
love your video, i think you've explained it well. Thank you. Ive got a question, ive got a colour laser printer and tried foiling, it didn't come out so good, could it be the printer? i have been told not all laser prints foil?? please help
thanks in advance
It sticks to black laser toner only and what kind of foil and laminator are you using?
@@SimpleClarityCo firstly i used the foil, shiny side to the paper :) in a laminator, then i reprinted and pit the dull side down and put it under my heat press and it didn't come too good, it ws like glitter effect, if you understand what i mean
@@tahrabutt70 nope.. print in all black, place the foil shiny side up.. put the piece of computer paper over the shiny side of the foil. So it should be a sand which your printed project in black only the foil (shiny side facing you) then copietbpaper.. let your laminator heat up for about 7min and then put it through
Thank you I will try 😘
How would I do this if I wanted a black background with gold foil, would I be able to print write lettering to foil
Good question
On the template make your background black and print it on the inkjet printer. Then print your writing in black on that same sheet of paper on the laser printer. When you run it through the laminator with the foil.. the foil will.obly stick to the black writing from the laser printer
Please, please, please tell me where to get plain black labels that I can print on and then foil. I can’t find any!!!
When you find them let me know because I have no idea. I'm looking myself!
I may have missed it in the video, but are these labels waterptoof?
No they are not. Just glossy
Hello what Labels you use?glossy or matt?
Hello!! Glossy
I watch u...thought u were gonna say...Welcome to Motherhood 😂. I have 3 boys...I totally get it. U live to create...& some of the creations don't want u to create anything else 😂🤣
EXACTLY!! lol
Where can I get some candle jars ? That’s heat resistant
Just Google candle making suppliers there are a ton of companies that supply the. For a good price by the case
@@SimpleClarityCo thanks soooo much
With the label you used from Avery how do you get the 3/4 in the 2x2 resize?
I make the label in canva in whatever size I need for my avery label. You can just import you 3/4 image and resize it to a 2x2 in avery. If it doesn't look distorted then go for it but if it does I would make your original design the the 2x2 size
@@SimpleClarityCo thank you🥰
Is there a way to this without the ink jet printer?
You can use only a black and white laser printer if you'd like. Whatever you print from the laser printer will be the other part that gets foiled. I only use the inkjet for other colors in my label.
How do I color the whole paper in red and doing gold foil on the writing?
Make the background the color on the template and print it on your inkjet and then print the writing in black from your laser printer.
do you need to print it twice?
Yes once with the inkjet and then print what you want to foil with the laser
Could print it twice with laser ?
@@Good_Things_To_Know No. Print once with inkjet what you don't want to foil then print with the laser what you do want to foil
