Nvidia CUTS RTX 5080 Specs | Blackwell Delayed Until 2025?
Following pretty swiftly on from the RTX 5090 nerf rumours we discussed, new leaks have surfaced on the RTX 5080 Blackwell GPU. According to these reports, the RTX 5080's hardware specs have been CUT, and there are also rumblings that the RTX 50 series may be delayed until 2025. Join us as we examine the latest RTX 50 rumours, including the alleged cut to the RTX 5080 specifications, how this lines up with what our sources have been saying, and more.
Plus we touch on not only the alleged release date delay for the RTX 50 Blackwell series until 2025, but also briefly mention Intel's Computex 2025 conference - and of course AMD Zen 5 which was also revealed at Computex by Lisa Su.

Nivida decided to save the real 5080 for the 5080 ti super sku 😂. Scam company.
5080 will be $1200 on launch i bet. msrp at least.
they already did with 4000 series
More likely they are making 5080 to fit US export limits to China and match performance of 4090D . And this is leak about 203 die instead of specific SKU. That die cannot suddenly become 5080 ti if the die is smaller.
As much as i am not a fan of overpriced products and companies... lets face the truth... as long as amd or intel ain't making hi-end gpus Nvidia will fuck over its customers.
@@Joker-no1fzProbably & launches in China 6 months before the rest of the world.

Were the specs really "cut" if they werent even finalised?
In a way. If a friend said ‘I’ll hook you up with a job where I work. It starts at $20/hr.” and then when you apply the HR rep tells you it starts at $15/hr., it would feel like a cut.
“Finalized” is the correct spelling. It seems like every Limey is so afraid of using the final letter in the alphabet. Considering how they seem to purposefully want their fear easily recognized by pronouncing it ZED like a big scary Harley rider. 😊
Please battlemage save us from this GPU hell
Ugh I so hope it's something special.
They benchmarked the 5090 and it was 25% faster which is too fast for merely a 50% price boost! So they are cutting the bus, the RAM, and the release date to slow things down ... NVidia's new slogan is, "our sheeple make this possible!"
5080 will be the same performance as 4090.. and jensen will say he is doing us favor by selling us a "4090" for the price of a 80 tier card, which is 1k-1.2k lol. but of course with only 16GB of VRAM.. so basically selling us an inferior 4090 that is 2 years old.
It is likely. But in this case they won't sell many 5080s. 4080 is significantly faster than 3090 Ti, yet it was selling pretty poorly at $1200. Only at $1000 it more or less started moving.
So if they try to sell "4090" with 16GB, it must be priced at
@@stangamer1151 most likely gamers will be screwed again if rumors are true. So much for 10 good. 20 bad. 30 good (before pandemic/crypto). 40 bad. And 50 good.
Yeah, so the 5070 gets rebadged as a 5080… classy nGreedia, classy.
...again.
Are we really surprised at this point?
they may end up changing their plans again if AMD releases the 8800XT for $499 and it performs like the 7900XT
It doesn't matter because the market will decide prices no matter the numbers or performance.
@@gamingtemplar9893 very true. It's not like people HAVE to buy graphics cards regardless of the price.
BUT if the market puts the price a lot higher than some people want to pay, a few will whine "stupid Capitalism!" & dream of a magic Communist world where innovation still happens & millions more don't die.
Just like how they rebadged the 4050 as 4060 and every other 40series card classic ngreedia
They have humbled the whole thing
How can a GPUs specs be cut when they were never announced at all? You would expect a released GPU is not the same as the first engineering effort of it. The cutting of a rumour is a rumour only.
Ridiculous
GB202 is "technically" monolithic, which I think means it's 2x GB203 glued together as an MCM using nvidia's proprietary high speed interface, but not a "chiplet" design.
It's more like Apple's M1 Ultra, which also uses an MCM, but is not called a "chiplet" design, and is treated like a monolithic.
And Nvidia would never call their design an inferior "Chiplet" that AMD and Intel use.
What a circus - leakers argue themselves who will tell the biggest lie.
loving the coverage ... keep up the good work M8
There was literally nothing on Blackwell, or GPU's in the keynote last week, what does that tell people?
all wafer allocation is dedicated to AI hardware.
They have limited resources and time and they are better used on AI server products if goal is growth and profit... which it is.
Nvidia really only announces gpus when they are really close to selling them. Maybe a month or so.
@@potatorigs2155 Bingo, after the keynote NVidia's stock price jumped and their market cap rose by $338 Billion! their current market cap is $2,830,000,000,000. The institutional stockholders don't care about gamers or gaming which is peanuts to them, they're in it for the big money and NVidia had better deliver for it's $1150/share price.
But many gamers simply refuse to see it and still think NVidia owes them something for buying their stuff all these years, not realizing there is no such thing as corporate loyalty towards consumers.
The keynote was for the shareholders who only want to hear about AI.
Why do you even report on this stuff? Like what is it exactly? A bunch of rumours made up from Internet people or is it actually some leaker working in the engineering department at Nvidia? I just don’t get it.
Some of these leakers have very good track record. Kopite being one of them. Obviously it is not know who they are, otherwise they would be fucked.
Super dissapointing not having clue of the launch of RDNA 4
Not sure about games but there is a new wave of PCVR headsets such as from Pimax this year that is meant to be a natural upgrade from the popular older gen headsets such as the valve index and reverb G2.
I know this is a niche market for gaming but looking at forums, people want to get their hands on the 50 series of Nvidia cards to drive the demanding hardware.
And I am here for it! A 5080 with a 4090 performance at 1000 would be something that I can align with
@@danceoffAshIt's the only upgrade and price point I'll consider.
If the 50 series is nerfed like people are saying no one will buy it if they own a 4090 LMFAOO. I doubt at this point that the 5090 will be even good since its getting nerfed to the ground too.
I am starting to doubt the 5090 after their nerf. Maybe the 5090ti
I hope this GB203 84SM full die is a 5070 Ti considering GB203 is likely to be considerably smaller than AD103 (N4P + fancy ML methods to increase transistor density) to make and on a process that's dropping in price as N3 products come in. Sell it for 800 USD with a relatively cost effective board & cooler (not overkill like the OG 4080) as a high performance 1440p card and it'll fit in very nicely. Have the 5080 as a gutted GB202 card down to 320-bit bus with 20GB and maybe like 112-116SMs.
I also think this is true anyway because RTX 50 Blackwell was supposed to be the biggest performance uplift ever.
It was meant to fight with both RDNA 4 and RDNA 5 in its life time.
5090 ti you think?… would be good to know as a 4090 owner, because I’d rather wait for that then..
It's the same for the 4090ti... No competition? No 5090 ti
It depends how much of an uplift a 5090 is and whether you would be prepared to pay more than that costs for a higher variant.
Nvidia "lacking the capacity" sounds entirely reasonable and likely. Look no further than Jensen's meandering AI speech at Computex, and how many tech channels have sold their souls to investor buzzwords, for more details on it.
Here's what I KNOW. In general when you get to the lower and mid tier products a gen to gen gain is typically 10 - 20%.
What I also know is that because of RT, AI and Cuda cores all needing to improve, it adds cost.
What I also know is Nvidia won't stay on TSMC N4. They're going to be moving to N3 and it should be N3B (2nd gen N3). This is a much better quality N3 node, will cost about the same or a little more than the "custom" N4 node Nvidia was on. Also, TSMC has stopped raising their prices. I guess they finally figured out their customers are looking ANYWHERE they possibly can to get out from underneath the high costs TSMC was charging, and many were hoping Intel 4 would have already been high quality by this point but it's not.
So that's what I KNOW. Also I believe TSMC has cut some pricing realizing their customers aren't happy paying TSMC pricing.
So, Blackwell should be on TSMC N3B just like Intel Lunar Lake is, AMD is moving onto TSMC N4 for their core chiplets although some could be on N3. What I KNOW is AMD lists both N4X and N3 for Zen 5, but IODs will be on something else. In fact just checked and Zen 5C core chiplets will be on N3 which is what I expected.
So, here is what I expect from the 5080, a 10 - 20% boost in raster, AI and RT performance, AI of course benefiting DLSS. I HOPE that the RT boost is higher than the raster boost because it's becoming more important and that's what the 5080 would need to move it up to a better quality 4K gaming GPU because to me the 4080 was in nowhere land. Buyers of high end were grabbing the 4090 and people who wanted a GPU for 2K gaming were spending a bit less on something like a 4070/Ti/Super/Ti Super.
So, for Nvidia to make a 5080 that makes SENSE for what consumers are willing to buy, the 5080 needs to move up to a SOLID 4K gaming GPU but not charge $1200+ for it. You know?? Like I guess that's why the 4080 Super came out costing less than the 4080 by $200 USD.
But if Nvidia makes it much more powerful it WILL cost more due to bigger die, will need more memory, etc............. I don't think Nvidia wants most their GPUs over $900 USD. I think they've realized the sales don't work well that way, but then again they ARE nGREEDia.
They don’t care if they don’t sell well. Unfortunately AI is carrying them. They didn’t care about price to performance before either because before AI it was the crypto craze carrying things allowing them to charge insane prices.
You do mean 10-20% boost over 4090 right... no way 5080 is still not as fast as a 4090, that would be a complete joke.
I want the 512bus. Ive held out this long with my 1080ti. Might as well hold out longer. 😢
Not sure why you would wait. It's not going to get much better value.
So the leaks say one thing, end up being wrong and people take that as a report and cut?
The leaks are never wrong. Companies just “change their mind” from time to time.

@@narrated6956 Ok got it, if the uplift is about 15% you should wait until Zen 6 these CPUs are fast enough as is. You shouldn't be chasing small gains like 10-20% unless you are using the system to make passive income.
All rumours and how can it be delayed when there was never a release date to start with!
Can’t blame them. If I were NVDA I’d delay RTX 5000 till late 2025 just so I could sell more AI datacenter chips. They’re literally losing tens of thousands of dollars for each one they sell as a consumer GPU. It’s not like AMD is releasing competition to the 4090. They could just drop their RTX 4000 prices by 15% and everyone would cheer.
nVidia is in a strange position. AMD will not compete in the high end until RDNA 5 comes out. Off the bat, they will have no competition in the high end. But RDNA 5 *might* come out half way through the 50 series product cycle and *might* have a level of performance targeted at the 60 series. Though, I'm not holding my breath for that kind of jump, but we'll see.
At any rate, nVidia is all for profit and doesn't care about much else. Unfortunately, it only makes sense for them to cut the base 50 series cards down as much as they can get away with, knowing they'll still have the performance crown and can charge top dollar. Then they will also have the most they can get left in the tank for a half cycle refresh. Then they can either release Super Series cards for the same price and play hero, if RDNA 5 delivers, or release Ti cards for ludicrous prices if RDNA 5 disappoints.
The 4090 will still be more performant than any of the new AMD GPUs.
a 28gb 5090 will not make me wanna upgrade at all but a 32gb would.

I simply ignore any video or site promoting these leaks.
It’s amazing how many people believe all this click bait nonsense. The RUclipsrs cover as many options as possible over a period of time so one of the options will be close upon release.
Good move! Indeed this is what people should do.
Nvidia has been listening to their leaks, and Nvidia is trying to balance price with performance (or naming vs price tier), and this is the answer we are getting.
Alternatively, the GB202 may encompass both the 5090 and 5080. Due to how massive GB202 is, there is more risk of a flaw per die, so seeing a wide variety of cut downs from the massive die is likely.
Fantastic points! Besides, the fact that nVidia has likely been in the dominant position while negotiating with TSMC for quite some time while TSMC position has been weakening at the same time. I’m sure the conversation doesn’t end up being exactly this but I’m pretty confident that the following is what nVidia is actually communicating like “You will build us x many wafers on node y and we will pay you z per functional silicone”. And especially lately, TSMC likely complies with these types of demands for the simple fact that they need nVidia’s volume, technological innovation pushing forward and the prestige of manufacturing the most powerful devices which are driving the pinnacle of the industry and see the most investment and potential.
As a 4090 owner, a 5080 might be interesting if it saves slot width so I can get my pcie slots back… but then I wonder about heat.

Intel Battlemage is coming, how will it stand against rdna4, plus Nvidia.may continue the gimping of their lineup,.making it easier for Intel to catch up
That's not delayed, that's a realistic target
If they first fill the AI demand the organisations have that might pay off all the development costs so prices might be lower for gamers when the 80 and 90 get onto the shelfs??
Looking a lot younger !!!! niceee
I'm pretty sure it's because Nvidia doesn't want to sell anything less than the 5080 name into China but at the same time America is tell Nvidia that it can't sell anything more power than a 4090D to China as America wants to maintain its monopoly on computing so Nvidia was left with no choice other than to cut the 5080 down to around 4090D performance.

I would have bought RTX 5090 at the end of this year but if they are delayed to next year I might as well wait and see if RDNA5 arrives.
I got 4090 and yes there is nothing it struggles with as far as 2d games but it becomes a problem when you consider VR for example EA WRC23 on bigscreen beyond headset it struggles and games like Microsoft flight simulator etc so 5090 would really be a nice upgrade in these instances.

Why keep RUclipsrs keep on missing out on VR users. You can’t get enough GPU power to support the current hardware, let alone the upcoming Somnium.

Just built my first pc in a decade, and I chose to go with an RX 6750XT. and I have zero regrets, in the next year or 2 we won't even need new gpus, just better ai to utilize 100% of the current gpus for a couple years. Hardware has outgrown software, and we need a correction.
naahh..they just pushed the release of 5070ti, like how they wanna named 4080 12gb..scam company 💩
GB203 only has 84 SMs? That surely can't be true. GB203, coming with an embrassing 84 SMs, would be beyond patheic. That would just be a total scam, and Nvidia should not be allowed to cheap out that much on high end silicon considering how much they are going to charge for it. The 5080 will be at least $1000.
This is what no competition looks like.
NVIDIA scamming you... that surely never happened before... remember RTX 4080 12GB?
This is why competition is so important because it benefits consumers. It is rumoured that AMD has ditched the high end and enthusiast class segments for RDNA 4. However, if it ends up being super competitive in the entry level and midrange segments, then it could put a lot of pressure on Nvidia and hopefully convince them to pack significantly more processing power into their entry level and midrange GPUs for reasonable prices. It would be a shame if RDNA 4 didn't feature any high end and enthusiast class GPUs.
Battlemage should also launch later this year and is said to be competitive in the midrange segment. I don't think drivers would be nearly as big of a problem for Battlemage as they were for Alchemist. After RDNA 4 and Battlemage, RDNA 5 and Celestial should be expected to launch after that, hopefully not too far after. AMD is expected to return to the high end and enthusiast class segment with RDNA 5, and Celestial shouldn't be too far away from launching then as well. They reckon Intel will compete in the high end and enthusiast class with Celestial, which should bring the heat to Nvidia and AMD, so hopefully there will be strong competition in the gaming GPU market within a few years.
On what basis is that SM count pathetic? I see people saying this but I don't get what they base this on, given the SM counts of previous rtx 80s.
With these new specs my the leaker it will be not much faster than a 4080. Maybe 15-20% because of gddr7
why does it look like ure voiceovering your own video, its out of sync and isnt at the same time
So on paper if the cut is true, and its 256 bus for the 80 class....we gonna pay 1000k at least for a 70 class, this time Nvidia wont have to rename its 80 class to 70Ti since it will be the only 80 card we have on release xD
they want to release the 5080 to the Chinese market , so makes sense
My next card won't be Nvidia, first time for everything I guess.
The 5080ti is the new 5090 and the 512 bit bus gpu is probably the new TITAN for the whales.
They didn't change the die, they disabled portions of the die because gaming is getting slaved cards that didn't make it into data center. No way the 5090 will be 196 even still. Probably 168 at most. If the 5080 comes in at over $999 it'll be a disappointment. Even at $999 it'll only be like 15% better in perf/$ and still be really sad. Unless it has like huge RT uplifts. Enough to put RT perf at almost 4090 levels.
If the 5090 really is made out of 2 x 96 SM dies, it be kind of odd not use one for a single configuration.
They are gearing up for the new wave of console skus
They can make cuts to the 5080 and we as consumers can decide not to buy it.
The are no cuts in 5000 series specs, its just product segmentation after initial hyped up the hype. Nvidia found out they created too much excitement in large fanbase.
I am waiting for Arrow lake real gaming benchmarks and reviews to see what is going to be better choise. AMD was currently too much dominating top sales which is not healthy for value.

@@Ultrajamz the poppy plant is gods plant.
If that second rumor is true, the previous trend continues.
So I don't really see a shift here, despite the fact that we had a 4080 competitor last time.
They are trying to upsell everyone as much as possible.
As for rubin: I honestly do not believe we get rubin gaming cards at all.
Because they will probably not do yearly updates like with A.I stuff there
I am surprised no one ever mentions the elephant in the room. AMD make the chips for both mainstream consoles and Steam Deck. Surely at some point this will give AMD a mindshare advantage and eventually performance gains through coding optimisations.
The prices Ngreedia are charging, are dumb. They are simply funding Jensen's obsession with AI.
I don't think many of these cards will attract the audience. From Ngreedia. The mining days are over, high energy prices remain and "AI" is not for gaming, at the moment.
Sales of PC parts also tanked in 2023, with a mild uptick in 2024. The days of 2020 - 2022, where any toast rack GPU sold, are over.
NVIDIA will outsell everything else, just like before… 84% nvidia 10% AMD and 6 Intel…
Snafu!
The cost to performance in my opinion goes to the 7900 xt or xtx - nvidia is way too expensive and impractical
Xtx is too close in price to the 4080 super so 750 would be where the xtx needs to be now
If you have a 4080 or 4090 or 7900xtx or 7900xt no point i care rasteration only
Nah, the 50 series will launch this year
Ah yes cut it down to the bone remove all bit bus and slap on 8gb vram
How about you comment on the recent zen 5 announcement and their expected (not by you😅) 15% IPC uplift in their cherry picked benchmarks, quite a far cry from your alleged 40+, 30+, or even 20%+.
What a clickbaiting hype-conductor, you honestly don't have the slightest clue, huh? 🤡🎉
He's doing what every leaker does... yapping about BS and once they are proven wrong, they coil back into their shell and wait for the next thing to spread BS rumors about.
Yeah beause the 5080 is really the 5060? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Fk Nvidia, I was looking forward to Nvidia 50 series laptop now they have delayed. And screw them for cutting down 5080.
You are losing tons of weight mate 👍
Waiting game, AMD Ryzen 9950X 15%-25% IPC uplift when compared to current 7950X and 14900K, then Intel counters with Arrow Lake "Core Ultra 285K" with15% RAW IPC uplift with potential of A.I. Based performance boost of 35% on certain applications. Then AMD counters with 9950X3D with a gaming performance uplift of 25% leaving Intel high and dry again. But Intel counters with Intel "APO" in all the latest games surpassing AMD X3D technology. That's the future right there. As for Nvidia no need to sweat against AMD since they have nothing to counter, they will continue to milk the A.I. corporate market and give gamers the leftovers. The RTX 5080 will be a 4090 equivalent with 16Gb of GDDR7 that might give it a bit of performance gain over the original 4090. Nvidia might make you think that the 5090 is the only one worth buying but if it only has 490-bit bus and 28Gb of VRAM then expect a 5090Ti or Titan to come out with the whole 512bit bus and 32Gb of VRAM. All this depends on the geopolitical situation, they are already taking about higher cost of shipping from China. Who knows about tariffs as well, time will tell.
5000 series will be a scam the only diference is gddr7
the only good upgrade from a 4090 would be the 6090
5090 is probably gonna be a joke
if anyone remembers how the 1080ti went against the 2080ti then you would understand
I think the 5090 will be strong but if you have a 4090 I would definitely not recommend getting a 5090 , no need for it at all unless you are made of money and couldn't care less .
@@blabla-fw9ix I'm just waiting for the 9800x3d that is all
5090 will be a hell of a gpu with no competition
I think that the price of the Rtx 5090, of course, will not be easy, and everyone knows that
So it's not fair to reduce any of its features. It's a very bad joke
I think I'm pretty sure I wouldn't buy it 5090 if it was discounted and I don't recommend buying it, because when you buy it, you give Nvidia a reason to make a
5090 5090 Ti It's just bullshit
We just want 5090, one super powerful, like what they promised us before
With 512 bits and 32 RAM
Anything less than that, I ask all players not to buy it because they really do not need it, because they will not find a difference between it and the 4090 in power, so I do not want others to throw their money in the trash.
NVidia didn't promise us anything, those "leaked" specs are pure fantasy, NVidia hasn't even mentioned consumer grade 50 series GPUs yet and the leaker hype-train is a less than official confirmation.
Until it's in hardware and being tested it doesn't exist and doesn't mean anything except to build and maintain brand awareness.

I hope what you say is true
All the games that have came out over the past 5 to 10 years have been absolute trash except for maybe less than a handful of games. Really no reason to upgrade until games are good again.
Next year is the year some or most unreal engine 5 games come out, great tie to build or upgrade.
Cyberpunk , alan wake 2 and you forgot Hellblade 2 .. if we speak about high peak graphic
There will be a time they simply cannot profit anymore because even the lowest of the lowest stuff will be insane Quick. for instance look how a 1080ti still does on low settingsi in 1440p
There's a real pushback with gamers on power draw and heat output. Since 3000 series nobody overclocks anymore, everyone who used to overclock their GPU now spends a considerable amount of time messing with voltage curve. 3000 series was insane, you could keep stock clocks with a 3080/3090 while lowering voltage by 200mv or greater.
Yup, my 3080 is at around 865mv, and I lost less than 5% performance for about 25% decrease in power draw, and over 10° reduction on temps.
I guess I will skip one more RTX generation :), they can keep making their gpus worse imma just pass on buying it.
I'm sure Jensen Huang will be heartbroken over this. He might even cry.
I don't care what he does or how he reacts, just sayin' how I feel about recent greedy acts. I'm not the only one who feels that way. People gonna turn to AMD products if this keeps happening... Well, at least ones with some common sense. Keep dikridin on Nvidia fam.
STALKER 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everything about the 5080 will be cutback, except the price which will increase.
NVidia doesn't need gamers any longer, their Computex keynote this year ignored gaming entirely, it was all AI and the Data Center.
Unless you're a multi-billon dollar company, NVidia's gonna ignore you.
But many gamers haven't gotten the message and hence the rumormill constantly grinding out tidbits to keep the hype machine going.
I fully expect the 5080's price to start at $1200 again, if we're lucky and the 5090 will start at $2000, take it or leave it, NVidia doesn't care.
True .
The keynote for was for the shareholers who only want to hear about AI. The same day Nvidia published news about gaming features.
@@Safetytrousers Yes gaming features, but not about the Blackwell gaming GPUs, it’s what I hate about leakers and false and unrealistic expectations. It’s also why there is a strong backlash when the actual GPUs are announced and inevitably don’t live up to the hype.
@@glenyoung1809 NVIDIA have not hyped anything about Blackwell, as they have never mentioned it. They probably have not finalised them themselves yet.
Hsu has got to be a dude.... holy, moly...
I think what is happening that RTX 5080 is gonna be built on GB202 and GB203 is for RTX 5070 Ti ,may be RTX 5070, GB205 for may be RTX 5070 and 5060 Ti, GB206 5060 and may be RTX 5060 Ti too,GB207 for RTX 5050
wishful thinking. Nvidia is not giving the 80 class a 448-512 bit bus.
No way. Gb202 afaik is also used for the AI sector of their business so they won't waste it on a product with minimal profit margins which is anything below a 90 series.
@@Dexion845 who said they gonna give 448 or 512bit bus to 5080.
Obviously they are gonna use a cut down GB202 die with at least 320 bit bus to RTX 5080 if RTX 5090 gets 448 bit bus.
@@GoldenSW they will use GB202 for RTX 5080 if they don't want to lose to RDNA 5.
If any how they lost to an AMD GPU it will be big a hit to their reputation.
I don't think they will risk their reputation for being silly with RTX 5080 and 5090.
@@Dominion0047 As long as they can say the 5090 is the fastest consumer GPU (which it will be looking at the specs) I doubt they will care that much any of their cheaper cards will be beaten.
