Today brings some fresh release date leaks for RTX 50, Ryzen 9000X3D / Zen 5 X3D, and RDNA 4 - and the message seems clear, don't upgrade yet! Join us as we examine AMD's launch plans for not only the vanilla Zen 5 CPUs which were finally announed at Computex 2024, but the highly anticipated Ryzen 9000 V-Cache / X3D processors. X3d releasing against arrow lake makes a lot of sense; most remotely intelligent consumers are going to wait til September for arrow lake anyways, and with rumors that arrow lake may outperform the base zen5 chips at a decent power efficiency, waiting until January to release x3d would just let intel soak up sales while AMD would remain uncompetitive in the higher end market for months.
If Intel follows the program, the Core Ultra 5 245K (15600K) should be as fast as a 13900K...

@@laszlozsurka8991 maybe, but the new socket opens up a lot of possibilities for significant performance improvements. I’m giving the benefit of the doubt to intel because I want them to remain competitive with AMD, as I don’t want AMD to become the NVIDIA of the CPU market, that said, I’m not going to buy a completely inferior product just to prop up intel, if arrow lake doesn’t deliver, intel may be cooked.
Arrow lake probably going to launch 1 2 months after x3d zen 5. X3d zen 5 is going to be a beast chip no matter what arrow lake is going to be

lol i went from 7700K to 7700X , it was fun! while it lasted. Now starfield and cyberpunk use almost all the cpu and have bottenecks.

Only if you make sure that the percentage of performance increase of the 5090 over the 4090 is just 40%, it will not matter when it is released because it will not be worth paying $2500 for a card. I will not find a strong difference between it and my current 4090 card.
I don't want to be broke and at the same time frustrated because of not feeling the strength of the performance teams

I'm purchasing a new highend prebuilt gaming PC in October 2024, there is no more waiting- if these companies (AMD,intel,Nvida) don't release new products by then then, ill be forced to buy last gen. Waiting for reviews will definitely help to get the RAM with the best speed for the new Ryzen processors. It's still a little unclear, and I went with DDR5-6000 for the build I'm working on, but it is possible that much faster memory speeds may be the best. That means a different RAM and motherboard than I chose, potentially. Thumbs up!

I am on a 4090, I am not too fussed… honestly if I can soonish get similar performance with less slot width I’d be ok with that. Kinda tired of sacrificing pcie slots due to gpu slot width.

On Paul's question what is the split of 3D? Subject late role out of 3D in the Vermeer line up that long run full stack answer is 3.4%. Pursuant Raphael line up 25.86% that is 7950X3D = 7.9%, 7900X3D = 8.5% and 7800X3D = 25.86%. mb
I've been scraping along with my 1080 but if it's getting delayed until q1 then i migut upgrade now, bc that's 6 months plus scalpers plus who knows what will happen with taiwan and tariffs, do you think 4080 super fe will hold value well? Iirc the fe are usually good for that
If the scalpers eat the 5xxx series stock the preowned 4xxx series will probably go up in price too
id say buy gpu second hand and save alot of cash. i got my 4070ti msi gaming trio for 300 bucks. that is if u find you cant wait anymore. the 4080 and super perform identical. it was merely a price change. no gpu will hold value unless top tier and even then when new launches price plummets. buy what you need and be happy and enjoy.

Recently all RTX 50 series laptop memory specs were leaked.
So you are right about the whole RTX 50 lineup getting GDDR7 memory.
It appears the only improvement from RTX 40 to RTX 50 series is just faster memory with some minor changes such as using a slightly better process node and slightly more cache in some GPUs.
It’s an entirely new architecture with an relatively massive chip; while they are probably trimming the bus, the series will probably still outperform the 40 series by 50-60%.

Looking good! For people that don't use it for gaming, there is little chance that the x3d versions would be more interesting. But waiting for the epyc 4004 or intels offerings might be interesting. I think I will go for the Epyc 4004 if we get some interesting motherboards for it. If not: I will go for the 9950x, as it will probably be a bit faster.
I also think the Strix APUs later this year are gonna be really good value if those leaks turn out to be true. 4060/4070 performance with a decent cpu in one package all at 125w? That will be insane.

Even if 9800x3d ends up being 5.2ghz, that should be a win, and higher increase going from 7700x to 9700x, and should hopefully be easier to achieve

September is a good date since a lot of people buying new computers for the new school year. Also 3 more months to save money.
I sit on a proper ryzen 5800x3d and switch to am5 ryzen 9800x3d once am6 got realized to get that sweet extra money saving while having the most stable properly patched and fixed stuff.
I'm still building my new gaming PC for the first time, why would I buy the new X3D when ryzen 7 7800x3d is $577 and ryzen 9 7950x3d is $918 in Australia, just imagine the new X3D price

If AMD is delaying RDNA4 to next year just to clear out RDNA3 stock it means its not that good. If it was cheap enough to produce while being very performant they would release it ASAP.
This channel said earlier this year that the 50 series would come next year. Later, when other channels were saying that it would come this year you pivoted and started saying this year as well. Why? Did your sources start saying the same, or did you change your stance based on other leakers?

I mean, if it is not working for you, just upgrade now honestly. Current gen parts will be a HUGE difference for you compared to your current setup. If your pc is really hindering you I would honestly just upgrade and get ryzen 9000 on release. You can always wait for a graphics card, the igpu on ryzen 9000 is gonna be faster than your gpu anyway and allow you to do gaming at low settings!

AMD maybe (hopefully?) wants to dial things up a tad so they aren’t relegated to competing against the 5060 and 4060, while Nvidia may be dialing things down so they don’t melt so many connectors since they’re going to be WAY ahead anyway.

to be honest....it MAY be better to be patient.....still a ton of 4090's with the burned connectors and the 5090 will undoubtedly be sucking even more power through, possibly, that same connector.
Not releasing RDNA4 before Christmas is a bad idea, maybe Intel will release their cards? Not interested in RDNA 3, the 4000 series or current ARC gpu's so they are losing out.

Even if Intel announce BM for Q4 there won't be any cards until Q2 of next year anyway.

Honestly i want an upgrade. I play at 1440p. It seems like 9950x3d vs 5900x doesnt look crazy different. The architecture of ryzen 10,000 is looking to fix amd dip problem. I want an upgrade for 1440p and have the best cpu possible. I went from 1700x to 5900x. It was well worth it. I went from medium settings in new games to max setting with 30 more fps on a gtx 1080.
There are 2 more cpus coming for the am4 platform. Grab a 4080 super and your am4 platform should last you another 4-5 years in 1440p.
@Thedreaminthemyst I got 7900xtx at launch. 5900x during pandemic. I am really thinking hard about upgrading to am5 platform. Ddr5 and all the benefits of having more than 2 nvme ssd on motherboard. I just want the cpu jump to feel real and worth it. First time going with my gpu, and I am really happy with it. It's cpu performance that keeps being impacted with all these pc ports. Denuvo and direct x 12 ultimate in combination with unreal engine 5 pushing games to their limits. All these factors make me debate upgrades. I like to play everything, and I shoot for 1440p 165 hertz.
@@raven80wolfx2 7900xtx top of the line from AMD I wouldn’t expect anything less. I am also waiting for the x3d chip from the 9000 series to make the jump to am5. Currently on 5800x and a 4090. I need to rebuild my whole system. Good thing is most of my old parts are all ready to be given to my brother, my mom and dad.
@Thedreaminthemyst So one of the reasons I am hesitating is amdip. Amd has had a problem with their infinity fabric that causes issues with latency and memory speed. This causes issues with 1 percent and .01 percent lows. The 9000 series is just a refresh of 7000 with better IPC. Ryzen 10000 is supposed to fix all that and be the best cpu for the for seeable future. We are talking about 40 to 50 percent jump they are saying from even 7000. Honestly, comparing 7800x3d vs. 9800x3d will be a big reason. Because 7800x3d is cheap and getting cheaper. So it's all about wondering what is actually worth waiting for. It's not like a gpu. Almost always, that performance is straightforward. Now we are getting into games reaching an engine cap. We are seeing more 240 hertz monitors even at 4k start to come out. It's an interesting place to be with fsr 3 working for all gpus. Lowering cpu usage extending lives of our cpus.
Why wait if the 5080 is not performing better than a 4090 and the 5090 beeing not widely available after launch due to scalpers and the boom of the AI market? And therefore beeing expensive af?
Upgrade to a 4090 and skip the 50 series
"Don't Upgrade" is all relative. I've been looking to upgrade my 5700x and today I picked up a 7900X3D for $280. For the combination of productivity and 4k gaming, it fits the bill. There's no chance 9000X3D series will compete on that value for a long time!

So what? Will AMD push back also rDNA5 and then slam face 1st in 60 series? BTW. AMD can at least make more MI300X and sell them for fat stacks of money but Intel is pretty much commiting suicide by delaying Battlemage. It will be really hard for AMD to avoid killing 7000 series and at the same time avoid looking completely stupid woth rDNA4 pricing. But Intel... if they want to earn some money they must release dGPUs fast otherwise there will be so much competition they will look stupid price-wise no matter what.
AMD delaying RDNA 4 till 2025 is a terrible idea, they should get the bag now that nvidia wont release anything in the middle class... they would sell the 8800xts like pancakes at 500 with similar performance to a 7900 xt...

Not interested in X3D CPUs one bit. They are going to be very expensive and only suitable for very hi-end GPUs to play on low resolutions. 7900 non-X for cheap whenever they become even cheaper than now is what I really want, preferably $250 or lower.

This is the generation where everything’s tagged as AI, some normal specs will stagnate for things like npu’s that only a minority will ever really use & everything’s 10-20% more expensive with no options to opt out.
Price to performance ratios for the everyone not doing anything AI related are about to seriously nosedive.

doesnt look good for intel. 9000x3d is gonna be superior in FPS against intel in half the games and other half is on par with intel but with superior efficiency. AND.. AND.. AM5 boards are matured and should be cheaper, while intel's ultra chips gonna be on a new socket/board... so intel boards are gonna be super expensive. only advantage intel has is possibly better memory controllers, but that is remains to be seen with a new architecture.
I have a 7700X and it already is crushed in cyberpunk,starfield,and helldivers. I was going to maybe upgrade to 7800x3d but I think 9800x3d would be better to wait for.

Nvidias pricing will continue to be a insult, AMD has little competition on the CPU side and because of that price / performance will be much better with the current generation. And motherboard vendors will price their boards accordingly higher... I rather get a 7950x3d with a 7900xt for those nice falling prices than wait another year for "maybe" prices to become reasonable.
