I don't completely agree. Sure, there are women wannabe stand-up comics, whom I think should give up and go home.
But there are plenty of men whom I think should walk them there. It is more likely that these comics (of whatever sex), who are on the march, for whatever reason, have not fully learned their craft. Maybe they have not had the opportunity to get good, honest, feedback, from an experienced pro who likes to teach. Maybe they just haven't seriously studied what the people do who really crack THEM up. There tends to be a general, if ragged, consensus of whom make that cut, i.e., Robin Williams, Carol Burnett, Vicki Lawrence, Mel Brooks, Marty Feldman, Madelyn Kahn, Harvey Korman, Jonathan Williams, Richard Pryor, Redd Fox, Moms Mabley, Dick van Dyke, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Christopher Titus. All are radically different from each other, and all are funny as hell, to the right audience. Even when they get fumblemouth or
Brainfade, and screw up.
Pryor was thone who took me by surprise. The first time I saw him, I laughed so hard that I actually puked through my nose! (Well, I was finishing breakfast while I watched him on the Net.) I thought I might suffocate.
Titus, in particular, repeatly refers to the mechanics of beginning, and continuing, to do standup, which surprisingly, can get pretty grim: As in having five or six stepmothers, one of whom shot one (?) of her husband(s?) - thereby earning a verdict of not guilty due to undeniable cause, a full payoff of her husband's $100,000 life insurance policy. And you must have lived in Texas yourself, to fully grasp the import of that.
But I digress. Sorry about that, Chief! (Don Knotts). I used to practice psychiatry, and I blame that for my developing a certain fondness for comedy. I just wanted to talk to you about women in comedy. It sounds like you have caught the bug, too.

But like almost all female comics, ALL she talks about is sex with guys, dating guys, and her vagina. Some funny jokes, but totally typical....nothing new.

She's the best comic on her topics there is. Yes she is obsessed certain ones, but that's ok by me. I go to other comics for other stuff...Thanks for replying.
