Thanks man. Your engine bay is certainly the gold standard we all look up to. If I could get all this damn nasty tar-like under coating off of the inner fenders and firewall, mine would look a whole lot better. I’m very close to saying screw it and just painting them black
@@tims_4x4_garage I’ve seen that brown tar stuff on the firewall for some earlier models. Not sure what it is, cosmoline or anti-corrosion coating? Mine doesn’t seem to have it.
@@NC944er I haven’t seen another 87 with it when I searched engine bay pics on the interweb. I assume it’s after market and not factory. I also assume one of the previous owners had it sprayed at some point. It did live in PA for a while, so maybe then. A lot of assuming, I know. I could be totally wrong. But, it scrapes off like tar. I haven’t tried a power washer, I’m too chicken to try that around these ancient German electronics and sensors.
