    Hi Bill! I am excited to be doing the 5-Day Keyboard Rich Challenge with you this week! I have a question about payroll - why do you say we won't be doing payroll or shouldn't be doing payroll for a client? Just curios because I have only one client right now - he owns a small construction business and only has three employees and I am running payroll for him each week in QBO. What's the downside of doing this? Thanks!

      I don't believe I've ever said that you shouldn't be doing payroll. You may be referring to me saying that you won't be doing it manually. Your clients will be using a 3rd party payroll processor who handles all the direct deposits, taxes, filings, etc. We should definitely be assisting with payroll.

      @@BoomingBookkeepingBusiness Thank you for responding, Bill! My client uses the QBO payroll add-on subscription, not a 3rd party. I guess I'm not clear about what you mean by "manually" doing payroll. I had to manually set up the employees for direct deposit and taxes, etc, in QBO in order to process payroll in QBO. Could you please clarify more about what types of tasks we should be doing to assist with payroll and what types of tasks we shouldn't be doing, or what your definition of "manually doing payroll" is? This is my first and only client so I'm new at this and don't have anything else to compare it to in terms of how other companies/bookkeepers are "doing payroll" or assisting with payroll. Thanks so much!

      @@logosrising7088 Manual payroll is where you're actually calculating taxes, submitting tax forms, etc. QBO payroll handles all that for you. The extent of your responsibilities there are entering employees and, if it makes sense for the client, entering time and running the payroll.

    Thanks for the information and encouragement. I recently signed up for the QBO Accountant account as instructed by someone offering a training. Now I don't know how to delete all that data from the training. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

      Whoever offered that training should've advised against adding data to that account unless it's real data for your bookkeeping business. Unfortunately, you'll have to delete everything manually unless you use a 3rd party tool.

    Is there a place to get scenarios to use for practice? I have been in the sample company many times but during training. But would love a different set of scenarios to practice as if it were a real client.

      It's probably best to be in a bookeeper network, Community to exchange info as questions come up.

    Should we also take a course on bookkeeping? Is the QuickBooks pro advisor enough to become a bookkeeper?

    • @BoomingBookkeepingBusiness
      @BoomingBookkeepingBusiness  2 месяца назад +1

      No, going through the ProAdvisor training does not prepare you to work with clients. Your best bet is to get some proper training and a mentor to help you along the way as you will encounter things that training cannot prepare you for.

    how do you set up the client banking info?

    • @BoomingBookkeepingBusiness
      @BoomingBookkeepingBusiness  4 месяца назад

      The client will typically connect their bank & credit card accounts to QuickBooks. Otherwise, you can assist with that while on a Zoom screenshare to guide them through the process.

      Yes! But remember, bookkeeping is a subset of accounting. You just need to learn bookkeeping.

    • @BoomingBookkeepingBusiness
      @BoomingBookkeepingBusiness  2 года назад +2

      Your free QBOA account is all you'll ever need. Your clients will have their own QBO account and give you access to it.
