I, myself, have started my own Bookkeeping and Accounting business through a class I was taking. I hope what I have just made mention would be of an encouragement to someone who has no bookkeeping experience, but desires to start a bookkeeping of his or her own.
I'm not taking any classes at this time. However, I would suggest you would attend a college, or a business school such as I have done. Maybe this will be a help to you if you desire to start a bookkeeping and accounting business of your own.
I have a full-time job earning $55k annually (and I’m not ready to quit my job just yet) but I would love to do bookkeeping part-time on the side and keep my full-time job. I have no experience or knowledge in this field but the duties it’s perfect for me someone who is an introvert.

I’ve worked in the hospitality industry most of my life and serial entrepreneur doing many different things! Right now I wrk a job that pays barely over minimum wage and not enough to myself and them as well so I’m looking to learn a new skill set where I can increase my income and have the time freedom that I need! With the advent of computers and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel), data entry and record keeping have become cheap!! It's unimaginable to do any type of bookkeeping W/O software like Excel.

this video may be the catalyst I need to actually utilize my associate's in accounting. I finished my degree, and covid hit... I stayed where I was at to help through that lame time. As a result, I waited and got out of the "groove." This lead to a wasted degree and failure... at THIS point. The way things have changed in terms of what is expected of bookkeeper is interesting and exciting. I am not a mom, and really need a remote position so I can travel in an RV!! (fingers crossed). I chose accounting because of qualities guest mentioned, and my scholastic performance proved it. Your video gives me a map to reacclimate myself to the craft and get return on degree. I definitely see the value, I’m going to take a course for sure cause i know that bookkeeping will also help me balance in my own personal finances, I also like helping people where I can. This would a great skill. Where you never said associates degree you only said you don’t need a bachelors degree.
For anyone coming to this a year later, the course is no longer free and is $2500 for the lowest cost course. I can’t afford that so I guess I’ll continue my 9-5. 😢

Thats what I did. I started with my associates degree in accounting. I found my first few clients on what was then called oDesk and is now Upwork. I finished my BS while doing freelance bookkeeping, and then created my actual business after getting my bachelor's. But technically, I had a bookkeeping business the whole time.
Being a business owner providing bookkeeping services is different than applying for a job to work as a bookkeeper. However, do clients want to see proof of your experience? Will certification suffice in place of having 0 experience?
My question is with the advent of open A.I is it worth getting into this? Wouldn't most small business end up using AI to do the book keeping for them?
No, the biggest thing is trust. For me personally peace of mind is everything, I trust a person more than I do AI and when it comes to your money, I don’t think most people will leave it up to AI.
if folks dont understand accounting, taxes and finance... they would not know what to ask AI to use it effectively. almost like real people... if you dont know what biz your in... or where u want to go... its hard for a professional to help you
Software like quickbooks will automate much of the traditional bookkeeping for simpel transactions, there are software that already does this in a largely automated workflows and AI is already implemented on different tasks in some of the more cutting edge accounting software its starting to be integrated reports . just teach your own client to their own booking keeping and just do the controlling for SME clients, saves time and you can sell additional services that improve the clients business.

Working now for the last 29 years at this company UNIONBAY doing all in accounting office. I will like to do bookkeeping side job how I learn the program where do I go to learn that? Google “free quickbooks certification.” Intuit has a FREE program. That’s what I’m doing now. The program can take about 9-12 weeks to complete it if you’re studying about 5-8 hours a week. I’m currently working both full time and part time and studying for that certification.

Sorry, but this is false information, let alone the title. You want a job with no experience? Then best you apply for a fast food restaurant. You don’t need all the requirements to apply for a job like Bookkeeping, but you need the sufficient knowledge. What I recommend for everyone is imagine you are working in a company and come up with random numbers and tinker around with it until you become familiar with the concept. This is 2023, not 1980. You can find YT videos and online course for these sorts.

You can go to course careers accounting for 500 dollars. They also have a payment plan. Hopefully this helps you😊
