Brilliant video!! The Tiered Level approach for deciding which services to offer and at what stages makes a world of difference! I myself was getting overwhelmed thinking I need to offer all of these services straight out of the gate. That in turn had me spending more time on getting training on each one and less focus on just actually doing bookkeeping. I also like how you made it clear that we don't have to offer everything under the sun. Go with what we enjoy and can specialize in. As we grow, we can decide if we want to level up per say and take on more roles. And in turn, can increase our service value and what we charge for bookkeeping.
Thank you for your videos. You must have a phd in teaching or something besides all of your expertise in bookkeeping and accounting. I’m just starting in the field of bookkeeping and didn’t know I had a passion for this until now. Your videos have been great help!

Such a helpful video, thank you!! How would you deal with payroll in level 1? Does it just come through the bank feed and you categorize it as payroll?
Typically you need to correctly "map" the different payroll items. In QBO you connect to the payroll website and it will walk you through the process (it can be tricky). But, you only need to do it once, and then it will feed each month... it comes through bank feeds and you see the green "match." This could be a whole video, so hopefully that's a somewhat helpful short version. :)
Wow! According to this I’m a level 2+ bookkeeper!!😅. Totally with you on the manual payroll! Invoices and inventory can also go hand in hand. Would that be a level 3 invoice service?
Also, when do you know that you need to do a Clean-up for your client? Is it about when they last reconciled their accounts? Do you do a clean up for every new client?
As I know we should reconcile for every new client to check their books are good, when we reconcile we find out if we need to clean up, cause duplicates for example will show up if the ending balance doesn’t match😊
Hi! I have two videos coming out on this next month. But, yes... if the books are behind (not reconciled in a while) or messy (mistakes) you'll need to fix those things before working on the current month. Not every client will need cleanup--if you are taking over from a good bookkeeper, you shouldn't need to worry about it.
@@FinePointsBookkeeping Also, I have a potential client that has never handled his bookkeeping. So if I took him on as a client would I have to reconcile all the way back from when he first started his business or is there a limit to how far we should go back?
awe man amazing video!! I thought about this topic but I did not have the words for it. You definitely put it in a much better way. I was not sure which amount of services to offer. Reconciliation sounded like something that would be fun for me. But, then I found out about other types of reconciliation. Smh an entire balance sheet can be reconciled
Hi Morgan, couple questions: 1: Do you take the cash or accrual basis with your clients? 2: Do you make closing and adjusting entries at the end of each month? Thanks!
Hello @paulmeek to answer question 1, Actual accounting is the better option. It accounts for the transactions in the books whether money has arrived or not hence your books will be up to date at any point.

same. I’d like to do bookkeeping for small businesses online or in my area. 😩 desperately wishing I had someone to figure all this out with. Are you interested in working together on this?
Hi! The best place to get QuickBooks certified is directly through QuickBooks with their free ProAdvisor certification. Here is a video that Morgan made that will give you more details on where you can find it: ruclips.net/video/xKcCrN5Sn-E/видео.html. You can also check out Morgan's Bookkeeper Courses and Certification chart (finepoints.newzenler.com/f/certification-chart-freebie) to find more courses that she recommends for beginner bookkeepers. Krista (FinePoints Admin)
For level 1 services, does the bookkeeper need to enter the transactions into quickbooks or does the business owner need to do that (there could be 1,000's of transactions)? If the owner wants the bookkeper to enter the transactions, how will the owner communicate this to the bookkeeper (excel? other method?)
Hi, love your channel! As far as clean-up, how would you go about suggesting to the client, to not fix the last six months and start a new qbo subscription in order to start fresh? Also what would be the pay difference between level 1 and level 2 task, if we started at a $250 rate and add A/P and/or A/R would we charge an extra $100 for each service or so? How does this relate to rate according to your pricing per client size video, please?
Hi there. I have a question. Been doing this type of stuff for the companies I have been employed full time. How do they get their bills to you. Construction industry in south florida, there is a lot of suppliers and material accounts that send invoices daily via email or mail. How does the business get these to you?
Hey! There are a couple of different ways that you can get this information from your client. 1) They can give you access to the accounts you need 2) There are ways to send confidential information online. Here is a video where Morgan talks more about this: ruclips.net/video/bSayiKdyLnM/видео.html Krista (FinePoints Admin)
Thank you for your amazing tips! I am currently working as an office manager and bookkeeper for a small family owned business. This has given me great hands on experience, however I want to start a business as a freelance bookkeeper on the side. I have a family member that reached out to me requesting my bookkeeping services, she is a psychologists and will soon start her own private practice and she is setting up her LLC and business bank account, however I've never worked with this industry. Would you have any words or thoughts of wisdom that you could share with me, I am going through this imposter syndrome phase and I am trying to research if there are any specific complicated transactions that I can learn before committing to working with her.
Hi Tammy! Check out this video Morgan made on freelance bookkeeping: ruclips.net/video/v92DBK9dbLA/видео.html! Great video! Thank you. This is really helpful for someone entering the business. When you do payroll for your client through a vendor like ADP do you contract with the payroll company or does your client? Thank you
Love your videos! I do have a question. Do you use Excel or Quick Books? If you use Quickbooks, does the client pay for the membership or do you pay as a bookkeeper?
Hi Gilna! Morgan uses QBO and you can do it either way. You can have the client pay for QBO directly or you can pay for it and add it into your cost of services. Krista (FinePoints Admin)
Then would it be best to only start with service businesses? Would a t-shirt company or gift store be too difficult to bookkeep for since they track inventory?
You can learn/figure out anything. :) It's more personal preference. I do think service businesses are easy to start out with (see this video ruclips.net/video/9JckjHJREFA/видео.html)
To learn bookkeeping, Morgan recommends the course Bookkeeper Launch. You can check it out here: sk293.isrefer.com/go/BLFAQ/ML82/ Krista (FinePoints Admin)

Hello, love the idea of this, i plan to start my biz in the new year but ive been feeling nervous about it , i think the idea of starting out this way is great! But how do you market yourself if you only offer level 1 skills? What would be the best way to market to potential clients?
Hey! Check out Morgan's new course, Bookkeeper Marketing Course (finepoints.biz/marketing). In this course Morgan goes in depth on how to market in order to hire our first couple clients!

same. I’d like to do bookkeeping for small businesses online or in my area. 😩 desperately wishing I had someone to figure all this out with. Are you interested in working together on this?
@@kimifinsterrrrrHi are you still looking for someone?
Awesome videos! Where would the best place to get quick book certified? And is there any other courses that help with a book keeping resume?

Hi
Thank you
Thank You for this video
Here is a video where Morgan talks more about this: ruclips.net/video/bSayiKdyLnM/видео.html

Also, Morgan would recommend joining a facebook group to ask specific questions when you need help on more complicated transactions. Usually people are super kind and helpful. Morgan likes "the successful bookkeeper" and she has more options for facebook groups in this video: ruclips.net/video/h24zCUdAvqw/видео.html
Great video! Thank you. This is really helpful for someone entering the business. When you do payroll for your client through a vendor like ADP do you contract with the payroll company or does your client? Thank you
My client does. :)
Can you guide me in a practical training as a bookkeeper.
To learn bookkeeping, Morgan recommends the course Bookkeeper Launch. You can check it out here: sk293.isrefer.com/go/BLFAQ/ML82/

This is a very good video to watch before you get into the bookkeeping business.
Hi! I am a new bookkeeper and have been following along with your videos. They are so helpful! Thank you!
I have just earned my certification and would like to ramp up my business. But I have *zero* physical experience. I plan to start implementing your suggestions in this video and offering some tier one services. I'm also on the hunt for a temporary internship. Do you know of any online bookkeeping companies that offer remote internships?
Hi Lil! Congratulations on earning your ProAdvisor certification! I'm also happy to hear you are finding Morgan's videos helpful. Unfortunately, Morgan does not know of any bookkeeping companies offering remote internships at this time, but here is a video you might find helpful on finding your first client: ruclips.net/video/9JckjHJREFA/видео.html

I am Sudanese accountant. I looking forward to begin bookkeeping services online can you help me with good advices
Morgan I want to tell you about my frustration I am a Mexican accountant with 12 years of experience but I want to work remotely so following your videos I started looking for options to help tax preparer in the USA but they are paying me very little well that I feel only 250 dollars for him bookkeeping for a year with account statements of 4 sheets per month, I want to continue because I want to have the confidence to do it alone but sometimes I get very discouraged I should look for clients but the price that the tax preparer charges me is far from what you comment on your video, she says it's because she charges clients very little so I need to gain experience and now I don't have a job but can you suggest me something I already have my QBOnline certification, she doesn't have a payroll, and well she already has more companies than give me but at 250 dollars a year I feel like I don't know what you recommend well I just connect the program is not mine and well it tells me it's because apart from that you have to pay taxes there I don't want to criticize car I just want to generate more income thanks Morgan for your advice
Very nice information Mam
Thanks for watching!

Great vid!
How much do you charge for each level?
Hey! Check out this video Morgan made with more information on small, medium, and large bookkeeping clients (ruclips.net/video/8A877-pVRKA/видео.html)

Hi ! I really enjoy your videos and I’m a student trying to get into bookkeeping before college and I’m attempting to get internships, but I had no idea that people freelance as a bookkeeper, do you think it’s reasonable to make up to 6 figures or more as a bookkeeper? Because I always thought bookkeeping was more like a baby accountant, but now I see it as more than just an entry level job. Would you say that bookkeeping is more than just an entry level position?
Hey! Morgan thinks that bookkeeping is definitely more than an entry level position and owning your own bookkeeping business is a great career path. Check out this video where Morgan talks about how a bookkeeper can make $100k in a year: ruclips.net/video/pePJ-WAHvVA/видео.html

Love your videos Morgan! So helpful. I am curious how involved you are in your clients taxes? Do you pay their estimated taxes? Help them determine the amount? Or you push that off to their tax accountant?
Hi Alexa! Morgan is not involved in preparing her client taxes. In the following video Morgan answers a couple of tax questions regarding tax prep that you might find useful! ruclips.net/video/G0p5WrB--C0/видео.html
Thank you for reaching out!

Thank you so much mam,it's really awesome. Continue makeing this type vedio Oneday you get lost of subscribers I think
Thanks so much!
How would you suggest charging at these levels?
Good question, that depends a lot on the size of the client. Pricing is challenging, starting out, a good ballpark is how many hours it takes you (times the hourly rate you want, like $50/hour). These videos may help:
Small/medium/large clients: ruclips.net/video/8A877-pVRKA/видео.html
How much to charge: ruclips.net/video/tm-Eo3tke0E/видео.html
@@FinePointsBookkeeping Alright I'll check these out as well. Thanks❤
Can you do a video on how to price jobs?
Sure, I can make more and newer videos on that. I know it's hard! These two videos may help you:
Small/medium/large clients: ruclips.net/video/8A877-pVRKA/видео.html
How much to charge: ruclips.net/video/tm-Eo3tke0E/видео.html
Can you clean ip my books. I need someone. Please let me know. I have a few years to be done
Good video. Thank you. : )
Is it difficult to find clients when offering level one services. Who does the rest of the tasks?
Hi Kirsty,
Sorry I'm not able to help more, but I would recommend utilizing Facebook groups. They have been awesome for Morgan to get specific questions answered by kind & helpful bookkeepers. She likes "The successful bookkeeper" but there are lots of options on FB! Here's a video she made about how to get your questions answered: ruclips.net/video/On2KWzGX6zw/видео.html

What do you think about bookkeepers that specialize in crypto?
Hey! Thanks for the question. Morgan does not have any experience with crypto, therefore, she doesn't have an opinion on it.
