One thing to mention though...I have never had so many interdictions from pirates (empty cargo, empty refinery, no cartographic data) in a system. I counted at least 15 interdictions in 10 hours of game time. No warning, nothing...just trying to get me out of super cruise. So take care CMDRs!!!
Well i did this build, did my first jump kicked in FSD, throttled up, started to over heat, came out of hyperspace and ploughed into the sun, burning up, system, shields shitting its self, cargo hatch malfunctioned, lost all my limpets down to 40% hull integrity..... And this is what you recommend???

Yeah - but it was completely distorted. Mining is back where it should be. I can do a mapped mining run of Painite and get 512 tons in about 45 mins. Which is still about 130 million in an hour. Which is still good money! Even for a new player, a good 3 or 4 hours of gentle painite mining in a stock Type 9 - and you've got a Conda... About the only way to consistently make money with mining now. Prices on Void Opals and LTDs fluctuate too much to justify the effort needed for deep core mining. Get a type-9 and earn up to 16 million per one 20 LY trip. I wish it had a trailer that I could connect to expand cargo to make absolute killing. One 20 LY trip is 5 minutes max. I did not touch mining yet, so maybe there are goldmines to be discovered.
Prospector is an optional internal module called prospector limpet controller. Equip your ship with one and don't forget the limpets ( prospector and collector use the same limpets ).
Robigo passenger missions, using a Python at Robigo Mines where there is no system security check on your ship. Not as fast at earning as those big ships but no risk of getting shot at by system security (if you are carrying illegal passengers), can earn nearly 60 million credits from four runs. Of course, this is OP (overpaid) too, just as like mining and overdue for nerfing.

Yeah I have found two systems that generate massacre missions for the same pirates in the same system. This means across the two mission-giving systems I have 6-8 missions on-going at the same time (some wing, some solo) = 3M-4M per target (plus whatever the bounties are). The system where you do the killing spawns multiple massacre targets close by and I never run out, but it also has lots of res sites if I fancy a change. Also it's High Security so the local security forces help me enormously - but on the flip side I do miss the odd target because security gets in first!) Generally I'm getting in excess of 20 kills an hour (I mean, one of the Threat 4 Targets is 6 or 7 kills and they take 10-15 mins or so. The rest is travel time) = 60M-80M (plus bounties). Not quite as profitable as Robigo runs or mining, but also not mind-numbingly boring!!!
@@Banthah I tried getting few missions at once against same faction, kills count only for one mission at once, when its done starts counting towards next mission. What am I doing wrong then? so Instead 3-4m per target its more like 400-600k including their bounty
@@Niipazik Ok, so it depends on who is giving you the missions. If it’s the same faction giving you the missions, then yes, you have to complete them one after the other. But if you can get the same missions from different factions, one pirate kill counts towards each mission. So, example. You have 3 missions to kill 10 pirates, given to you by the same faction. This means you have to kill 30 pirates. But if you have 3 missions to kill 10 pirates, given to you by 3 different factions, you only have to kill a total of 10 pirates to complete them all. I hope that helps. The trick is finding a system or systems that have many different factions offering the same massacre missions - this is gold! Good luck!
@@Niipazik I currently have 7 missions running concurrently, to take out around 50 pirates each. This is gonna bring in about 175M, plus bounties (another 5M or so). Will take about 90 mins in the HazRes. If you want to Wing up, we can share missions and this becomes an even bigger payout, for both of us. Let me know if you’re interested

I am looking to buy a new larger ship to go along with my Python and Mine with. From all my research a Type 9 or Conda will be the best. The only engineering I have maxed out is the FSD . Any suggestions moving forward? With the new expansion coming out I want to have 1 or 2 maxed out ships. So whatever I buy will be with me for a long time . I don’t like Pokémon so I won’t be buying all the ships.😉
Alright so... Memorial day weekend this weekend, and probably gonna rain here in Carolina Saturday, and Sunday so I'm probably gonna be doing this for awhile. Hopefully I won't have to make a bunch of jumps to get to the system.
Only been playing for less than two weeks. I've been mining the same platinum hotspots at GCRV 1568 for hours every day. All together probably over a thousand rocks scanned within the hotspot and I haven't seen platinum once
you have to mine in a platinum spot that is overlapping with another platinum spot. Those "hot" spots aren't very hot by themselves. I've made the same mistake
@@totalobliteration4554 I didn't know a single planet can have multiple rings. I also didn't know metal rich rings are only for core mining I was completely wasting my time lol. Appreciate the advice on overlaps though I'll keep my eye out for them.

It's better than a kick in the teeth, but it's not the attractive prospect it was, especially as I now have an FC of my own to feed. And obviously, I can't get into the system with my own carrier now.

Hey, Great video! Followed your guide and got 100 mil in 2 trips, enough to upgrade to the GLORIOUS Python. Now I'm trying to be more efficient in my mining, but I can't, for the life of me, spot which asteroids are gonna be high density, pulse wave doesn't seem to help and shooting prospectors randomly doesn't yield good results. Also, what's this "Map Mining" you mention at 6:50? Thanks.
Hey there, from what I understood map mining refers to how asteroids resupply the exact same density at the exact same place everytime you supercruise away, basically everything is pre-mapped. So if you find a 50-60% plat asteroid, you point your nose towards the "Platinum hotspot" prompt and note your exact distance and position from that hotspot, usually under the form of a screenshot. Once you have multiple ( Usually about 30 or more for a decent hold ) of those you just always goes to those position by using your screenshot as reference. I avoid doing that cuz that sounds like a pain honestly.
It's basically this:- If you find a great asteroid that delivers a high % of what you're mining, you can go back 2 hours later, and that same asteroid will return with the same high %. So you "map" it (make a note of where it is, screenshot it or whatever), and when you come back, it will have returned in all its splendour. And you won't have to waste time or limpets prospecting again, because you already know this is the asteroid you're looking for. In theory, if you map multiple asteroids, this will save you time in the long run... but I really can't be arsed with all that!
Just google: [commodity] map elite dangerous. You will get a compilation of screenshots (in a pdf for example) that allow you to go rock by rock with a guaranteed high yield. You can fill a 512t cutter in less than an hour. Check it out, it's easier than it sounds. Make sure the one you are downloading is not a Haz Res map, unless you are ready for it.
I spent over an hour here and didn't find a single rock with any plat. What gives? I also didn't see any overlapping platinum hotspots. I used the DSS and only see single hotspots. Why?

Took me about half an hour to fill the 96T hold on my AspX spitting out a trail of limpets behind me like dead flies! Also sold for 265K per ton in the same system at Carrier Q6G-27Z (Dante's Rest)
Almost 26 million per < 1 hour mining run all-in in my AspX build, I'm gonna be SO rich! Glorious Python next!
Edit: Got my Python so making 50+ mill per run, but honestly, I don't see any point in core mining, takes WAY longer to fill the hold than laser mining and the best price for void diamonds is like 400-500K, nope I might change up the materials I collect but Ima stick to laser mining
I'm not sure what I'm missing but I haven't seen a single rock with Platinum, and I haven't seen the doubled up hotspot
*Smiles in Type-9*
Just got a new VR headset after my G2 went bad, its time to mine.
Just got this game and i don't understand anything, but i love this game
Its a work of art indeed. Git gud cmdr o7
I just picked this up last weekend after a co worker was shocked I’d never heard of it. Still have no idea what’s bound to what or what i should be binding. Though I’m enjoying the learning curve
Thank you.
As I wrote yesterday, I'm an olde 36yr Elite veteran but never mined before. I purchased my Cutter on your recommendation but I've got no credits to fit out as yet but I'm getting on with it.
I'm going to take your advice and purchase an added and work my way up as you've already demonstrated in other great helpful videos.
Thank you again.
Hell, yeah! Thanks CMDR Hawkes! Was wondering what I was going to do with my Glorious Python after the rebalancing (mining nerf)
Not going to lie, I really miss the LTD days in the Borann system. I feel bad for the noobs that will never get to experience that level of profit. 😂
Ahhh the days, laid off cause of Covid, waking up every morning bright and early, brewing a cup of coffee and doing 2 to 3 runs in Borann saving up for my glorious fleet carrier. I'm glad I was able to participate in such a glorious era of Elite.
I started off a week or so ago trying to mine Ltd and never found a single one
@@martinmc0950 LTDs are relatively hard to find which is why in the gold rush we were talking about people would aim for triple overlapping hotspots as single hotspots can lead to very disappointing results as you unfortunately learned. I haven't checked out the spot in this video but it definitely seems like the best option right now, especially for a newer player such as yourself. Best of luck!
@@thunderboltll ah, well too late, I’m 2k ly out from sol heading for colonia
Yeah - but it was completely distorted. Mining is back where it should be. I can do a mapped mining run of Painite and get 512 tons in about 45 mins. Which is still about 130 million in an hour. Which is still good money! Even for a new player, a good 3 or 4 hours of gentle painite mining in a stock Type 9 - and you've got a Conda... Still WAAAAAAAAY easier than back in 2014 when it took me fooooookin ages to afford my first python...
Love how Fdev is just slaughtering every form of money making.
Erm, they finally buffed combat!!! Get some wing missions and make 300mill per hour bro!
Yeah plat is like 50k last I checked
Save us RNGesus!
Thanks Hawkes! Not just for this video, but for everything you do for the community all year long. It's so much easier for me to link one of your guides on a particular subject, than to try to explain the process over and over again to new players when they ask questions.
Have a Happy New Year, Commander! o7
Let's hope the new one is a little better than this one has been!
I'm watching this for probably the 4th/5th time, and I've only just realised the pirate scanning you at 0:45 is a callback to the merchant trader in the original Startopia :-)
Passenger missions still makes more and it's way easier and reliable. They really need to buff mining again, right now I only do it when I get tired of the monotony of passenger missions.
No, they don't. You won't make there 150mil\h. And mining much more interesting for new players, cuz you'll do fast trader elite rank for jameson memorial. And it much less boring, compared to passenger missions.
Go with 3 mining lasers and 1 abrasion blaster. I came across a lot of rocks with surface deposits. And yes, screw core mining right now. Do platinum.

I love this spot, never fails, just finished mining the platinum, but the two carriers are not buying, gonna try the nearby system.
Got 394 tons! 😁 Close to 100 mill.
About the only way to consistently make money with mining now. Prices on Void Opals and LTDs fluctuate too much to justify the effort needed for deep core mining. I unfortunately am part of that group of noobs that missed out on the LTD rush a few months ago, and got into the tail end of the Painite rush. At least the Painite rush helped pay for my Python, Krait Phantom and Krait Mk 2. Currently struggling to get money to outfit my Anaconda and Corvette with A grade modules. And I hate passenger missions. Too many difficult or wanted customers.
Robigo passengers to Sirius Atmospherics have never gotten me interdicted, not once, and that's pretty good money. What difficulties are you facing with those runs?
I always take those Criminals, after many many runs I had my first scan. Just popped a heat sink and thats it.
Yeah that too, pop a heatsink when you get scanned by random NPCs and it'll cancel it out
@@kyleeon8717 Was speaking in general about passenger missions with the few I checked out. I might check out Robigo when I am back in the bubble in need of coin. Thanks to other for the heatsink suggestion. Never knew that.
So...is it's your fleet carrier that is parked there buying at a discounted price to help everyone out? Because that would be awesome! That one you showed didn't look like the Ronald McDonald house. LOL
My FC is there but not buying anything. The funny thing is though mroe FC are there now buying and the price competing has begun. The prices are now on average 220 mill per ton.
😍thank you for the build. now i have something to save my money on !
Get a type-9 and earn up to 16 million per one 20 LY trip. I wish it had a trailer that I could connect to expand cargo to make absolute killing. One 20 LY trip is 5 minutes max. I did not touch mining yet, so maybe there are goldmines to be discovered.
what is a prospector like idk how to do this Like I obviously see what you're doing buy idk how to get any of this stuff unlucky :/
Prospector is an optional internal module called prospector limpet controller. Equip your ship with one and don't forget the limpets ( prospector and collector use the same limpets ).
damn it... rip my quiet little system. 100 carriers here now.
they really should limit it to like 10 per system 100 is overkill lol
Thanks Hawkes am mentoring 2 new players. This will help a lot.
Thanks for the space video. I space liked it. I appreciate the space info. Definitely worth a space sub.
It might be time to knock the dust off of the Cutter and do some platinum mining
Not sure what I missing but I had absolutely no luck with this or the core mining. I followed the 2021 best start guide without a hitch up to the asp explorer. Kitted it for core mining tried for almost two hours only finding one core that wasnt the right kind. So, went back and did more road to riches to buy and outfit this ship. And again wandered around in this hotspot never finding a single platinum asteroid.

dude i was going to get a thrust master to start and work towards getting either a warthog or rhino hotas controls and i ended up getting a great deal for a rhino and have been in love since my purchase.
Never thought i would say solo massacre missions are just as good as mining now
Yeah I have found two systems that generate massacre missions for the same pirates in the same system.
Also it's High Security so the local security forces help me enormously - but on the flip side I do miss the odd target because security gets in first!)
Generally I'm getting in excess of 20 kills an hour (I mean, one of the Threat 4 Targets is 6 or 7 kills and they take 10-15 mins or so.
Good luck!
@@Banthah gotta try that :) thanks a lot
@@Niipazik I currently have 7 missions running concurrently, to take out around 50 pirates each. This is gonna bring in about 175M, plus bounties (another 5M or so). Just started playing. Have a whooping 13 hours in the game of just courier and delivery missions. Want to get into mining. How should I go about it? Or should I just keep doing what Im doing until I have a certain amount of money? Do you have a straight beginner guide from day 1? Also I like this guide! I tried the tutorial and it took me a minute to figure out how to scoop up the minerals lol!!
I been doing this since the Massive Nerf we jus got. Was doing dbl painite, then it all got nerfed. So I went to plat. And musgravite. Glad to see I was doing the right thing. Lol
A little side note, its fine if there is still minerals being process in the refinery, as long as there is nothing but limpets in the cargo. Bad guy scan you and get disappointed and fly away.
When I jump into the Platnem hotspots, none of the asteroids are containing Platnem. Am I doing something wrong??
I'm having the same problem
Same
Same here
Make sure that you check out the A ring not the B. A ring is close to the planet and scan it. There are the platinum hotspots that contain the platinum.
not all of them do but a lot of them do, just take some limpets and check each rock out

Big fan of your videos! Just a quick question...in Odyssey there are no double spots on this planet. Is this the case because it shows differently in Horizons?
Cmdr Petolo
Must be doing something wrong. Hit the hotspot, 200km away and started hitting every rock. Not a single platinum.
On my map it showed two platinum hot spots just a little apart. Hit the yellow and zip.
You should go for the darker spot right between them, then you'll get twice the amount, assuming they're close enough together.
Same here, not one ounce of platinum!!!
Thanks for making these videos. I tried playing this years ago and ran into a brick wall. I'm still very early in the game, but I'm having better luck so far. Anaconda is the goal...

Hello commanders , noob here . I been running Robigo missions for a while and currently sitting at 1.2 billion . I plan to keep going until 1.5 billion crds. I want to do laser mining next.

There's literally no reason to play in open unless you're hunting other players.
Don't tell frontier I'm asking this but do there happen to be any platinum subsurface deposits?
Only been playing for less than two weeks. I've been mining the same platinum hotspots at GCRV 1568 for hours every day. All together probably over a thousand rocks scanned within the hotspot and I haven't seen platinum once
you have to mine in a platinum spot that is overlapping with another platinum spot. Those "hot" spots aren't very hot by themselves. I've made the same mistake
@@totalobliteration4554 I didn't know a single planet can have multiple rings. I also didn't know metal rich rings are only for core mining I was completely wasting my time lol.

Nice video, but pls, dont use Type-7 as mining, is awfull and not worth compared with other ships
Sooo, what is Map Mining? Never heard that expression before
thats what i want to know
It's basically this:-
If you find a great asteroid that delivers a high % of what you're mining, you can go back 2 hours later, and that same asteroid will return with the same high %.
Why?

What is map mining. You make great beginner guides can you do some some with advanced topics.
This still viable?
Also would you do a video on a Mineconda? Build and what not?
What am I doing wrong? Is this patched or something? I haven't been able to find 1 piece of platinum in an hour!
what would a good python build for laser mining be?
5A and 3A prospector on expensive build, is this a mistake?
