    For the new miners out there, it gets often forgotten in guides like this because you only set it once: set all other materials you don't want to collect to ignore, check the contacts page after you got some chunks and weed out all what you don't want to collect, your limpets then only collect the stuff you want (mixed rocks will discard the part you have ignored and only yield you the stuff you want)

    • @HawkesGaming
      @HawkesGaming  4 года назад +11

      Yeah I forgot to mention that which is a bummer. I did pin that in the main post. I'll likely also edit the description to mention it as well.

      I would word it differently to not confuse new players and make them ignore mats needed for engineering which are labeled as "materials" in the game.

      Good tip. I had to learn this the hard way, by experimenting around.
      There is one thing I still don't know yet, which would help me a lot. I always have to go into my comm-display and select the prospector limpet to see the contents of a scanned asteroid. Apparently it is possible to just have it displayed on the left, in the cockpit, without the need to open your comms.
      Knowing how that works would save me so much time.

    • @TrangleC
      @TrangleC 4 года назад +1

      Nevermind, I found out you just have to target the limpet. Of course kind of makes me feel silly, but then again, I think that is kind of un-intuitive still, despite being so simple. When I target stuff, I usually get information about that thing, not about what that thing is attached to, you know what I mean? This should be something the limpet communicates to me and should have nothing to do with targeting anything, except the asteroid maybe. That is why I didn't think of that option before writing the previous comment. The game kind of breaks its own rules there, on a low level.

    You will be rolling in Space Bucks after watching this video Commander!
    Don't forget to set all other materials you don't want to collect to ignore in your control panel.
    ALSO KEEP IN MIND when Fleet Carriers go live in June all known hot spots will get reshuffled in order to make room for Tritium in the loot tables. This means for a SHORT TIME there will be no known LTD x 3 and Painite x 2 spawns until Commanders find them. Once that happens Inara and the miners tool will refresh with the new locations. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you get as space rich as possible before the June update. There will likely be a short period of discovery while we look for them again!
    *EDIT* For fire groups I have Mining Lasers and Collector Limpets on 1 and have my Prospector limpets on 2. I have a single fire group for convenience.

      I can make a video on that if you like. In the mean time if you want to look it up there are videos on youtube already on that topic. Just make sure to take at least one point defense if not two in your ship.
      When farming for the guardian materials you will have to fight the guardian sentinels. The point defense on your ship will fire at the guardian missiles for you. This makes them super easy to kill.
      Also keep in mind the closest guardian sites are about 1k light years from the bubble. Taking a small ship will ensure that you can land right next to the guardian site so the point defense kicks butt for you.

    I grinded empire rank up to the rank you need for the cutter and used the cash to buy an imperial clipper, followed this guide afterwards and mined at the GCRV 1568 and made 1.8 billion in around 10 hours. Used it to buy and fully kit out a asp explorer, python, anaconda and imperial cutter.
    Now I can easily turn out around 200 tons of painite with my cutter and go sell 522 tons of painite for over 500 million in a single trip and I'm saving up for the absurd cost of a fleet carrier. If only low temperature diamonds didn't get nerfed.
    One thing this guide doesn't mention is the fact that you should be bringing core and subsurface mining tools when you go out laser mining. They're fairly cheap and you can get a massive boost of painite cargo if you accidentally find a core asteroid or subsurface deposits and it will really speed up your mining trip

    • @HawkesGaming
      @HawkesGaming  4 года назад +8

      The rocks refresh every 2 hours. Core asteroids take forever to respawn. I mine in Borann a boat ton and only run into tiny streaks of dry spells where other commanders have mined before. That is super rare though and not the norm.

    • @orodruined4526
      @orodruined4526 4 года назад +3

      @@HawkesGaming The 2 hour refresh rate is personal. Laser mining has a set number of fragments per rock per commander. This is why wing mining is a viable option, if fragments were not personal, everybody in the wing would compete for the same number of fragments, which would significantly lower the output of each wing member. Dry spells are down mainly to RNG. If the fragments were not personal, your prospectors would also show "depleted" and not just low percentages.

    • @hayden8661

      Luck... exploration? I would imagine there are more out there, but just have not been reported to the mining tool?
      I have my carrier about 2500 ly out towards the galaxy center and ran across a Tritium Hotspot inside a LTD hotspot. In this I found an LTD core asteroid with Tritium Subsurface deposits. Juicy find... but rare. LTD's appear in Tritium HS and vice versa. So mining this area nets me quite a bit of Tritium (replenishing my Tritium usage) while mining to offset carrier expenses. I mix this with exploration to break the monotony. It isn't Borann Triple LTD spot returns (which I think that triple HS is gone now with the carrier rework), but when I get back to the bubble, I should easily make 300-500 million just in the ltd's alone.
      There are still like 99+% uncharted systems out there. Unfortunately the only practical way to mine anything outside the bubble is with a carrier. Limpet restock and 25,000 storage of what you find so you can go back out and mine more.

      Here's how I did it (I use a joystick, but I suppose the mouse will work the same way). In supercruise, get near the planet with the rings until the Detailed Surface Scanner (DSS) no longer shows "Out of Range" then slow to minimum supercruise speed. Switch to the DSS which will change your display to the scanner display. Slew the display around to what you want to scan using the joystick/mouse, then fire a probe using button 2. One probe scanned the entire ring but if the planet has multiple rings I guess you have to probe each ring separately.

    I can never find the right asteroids. I'm prospecting away but only 1 in 10 roids tops will have ltd's and even then usually no more than 15%. So generally I only get to fill up just a bit less than half my cargo space by the time I'm out of limpets. Is it possible ltd mining got nerfed even more in the last month or so?
    Not complaining, still managed to upgrade to the python recently, but it took me about 6 two hour sessions in the asp explorer to gather enough space-cheddar to do it. And even then it was only because I happened to be so lucky to find a void opa core by chance on my last run, which sold off for vastly amounts more cheddar than the ltds I was actually looking for.

      Engineneering. Go to Long Site Base in the Kuhn System for Elvira Martuuk. She will require materials to upgrade your FSD. Make sure you are going for the Long Range module. You will need to do some rover mining with a scarab for the Phosphorus, Manganese and Arsenic she requires. If you have the vehicle hangar and scarab, I have actually found a lot of manganese and arsenic in the crater that is right next to long site base. Look for guides on surface mining with the scarab, it take a while to get the hang of. For the atypical disrupted wake echoes, make sure you have a wake scanner. You will pile them up quickly if you scan all the echoes you see any time you leave a port. They will show up as white boxes on your radar and you will just have to get close to them to scan them. For the chemical processors/distilleries/manipulators go to Davs Hope that is on planet A 5 in the Hyades Sector DR-V c2-23 system. It is NOT a space port. You will need the scarabs again and it may not show up on your list of destinations (It’s ok if it doesn’t). When you are flying down to the planets you will see the longitude latitude numbers. Go to the coordinates 44.818 (top number ) / -31.389 (bottom number). When you get close you will see the base at the bottom of a large mountain. Drive the scarab around and collect all of the drops that show up on your map. When you collect everything back out to the main menu and load into a different game type (solo/private etc) and you will have more materials loaded in. Careful if you choose public lobby you might run into more players doing the same thing. Just keep cycling through until you have a lot and then you should be all set to fully upgrade your modules and that will significantly increase your jump drive range.

    Can someone answer me this? There always seems to be one station that you can sell void opals at more than a mil... usually like 1.1 or so. Although, every time I ever sold at that price, I only had around 30 or so void opals in my hold. Now, I've mined roughly 100 and now have waited for two days without any price coming close to 1.1. Max I"m seeing is 800+ about 800LY's from me and that's just not worth it.
    I watched the beginning of the video about having 10x less in your hold than at a station. Does having more void opals in my hold cause the price to be lower for me than normal? I wouldn't think it would matter, since INARA should give me the rates for everybody, but I just can't figure out why I can't get one station at over a million for almost two days.

    You don't need prospecting can go without and have more limpets for collecting. You can just fire any asteroid then you ignore on the contacts panel everything that's not LTD and after you done that a few times you have all minerals in that ring ignored until only LTD is left. That's the only stuff limpets will pick up now and also the only stuff you see as bright dots on radar. Then when you go without prospector you just fire on an asteroid and wait if there's white comming out. If so collect it it will be LTD if not or only a few come out its not a LTD asteroid and the few dots that come out are probably materials like iron, nickel, sulfur ect (you don't want to ignore these because you need them for Engineers and also manufacting your own limpets and stuff like ammo should you run out and since they take no cargo hold, always pick them up too). These without a stream of white dots coming out you can ignore, because after like 2 or 3s firing on it without white dots appearing, there won't be any more LTDs either.

    • @HawkesGaming
