HEY, HOW ABOUT YOU LOOK AT SOME OF THE ANIMATIONS PEOPLE MADE FOR THIS MUSICAL!? IT IS PERFECTION AND WILL DEFINITELY INVOKE THE TEARS AND MORE EMOTIONS
5:30 Fun fact! Angelica's numerous mentions of Jefferson over the course of the play AND here are almost certainly a tongue-in-cheek reference to the fact that some historians speculate that she and Jefferson actually had an affair!
Lin and Jorge can never be allowed to collaborate. The multiverse can't withstand that much talent and brilliance combined. It's like putting a Bag of Holding in another Bag of Holding.
When two geniuses come together, the collab usually creates something timeless and amazing or absolute trash because they can't see eye to eye. No in between. Like Prince and Michael Jackson, everyone wanted them to do a song together, but they could not stand each other.
„I'm not naive” has a double meaning, while its an answer to the next lyrics,it is also an answer to Angelica's verse of „He's after me because I'm a Schuyler sister That elevates his status *I'd have to be naive to set that aside* Maybe that is why I introduce him to Eliza...” in Satisfied. Eliza in this song telling Angelica that she isn't naive and that she sees how Alexander married her just because she's a Schuyler sister, if he loved her he wouldn't cheat on her.
I think congratulations was cut cause it focused too much on Angelica’s rage and LMM wanted the story to be more focused on Eliza’s sadness from the betrayal
Also, personally, it makes Hamilton’s change of heart feel less significant. It feels like his remorse stems from Angelica’s anger and not from his self-reflection. It actively hurts “Best of Wives and Best of Women”, that’s what Angelica said Eliza was, not how Alexander truly felt.
my absolute favourite thing about the 'i know about whispers, i see how you look at my sister' line is like... that rhyme is close enough you almost hear 'sisters' plural instead. and coming right off the bat of maria reynolds, who also plays peggy, i feel like the almost rhyme could be intentional
"Your enemy whispers, so you have to scream" is a line I loved long before I realized what I heard it from. I think I completely forgot about the first time I listened to "First Burn". That really does describe Alexander Hamilton really well, along with "So scared of what your enemies might do to you, but you're the only enemy you seem to lose to."
It is correct that they've all played Eliza! Lexi Lawson "I saved every letter" (Broadway 2016, took over from Phillips) Arianna Afsar "Do you know" (Chicago 2016) Rachelle Ann Go "Don't take another step" (West End, 2017) Shoba Narayan "You published" (first and second national tour 2017 and 2018) Julia Harriman "Heaven forbid" (second national tour 2018)
Hope you eventually react to all the cut songs. Heres every single one in order -This One's Mine (First Version of "Helpless" before getting scrapped completely and reworked) -Valley Forge (Got added into the first half of Stay Alive, But it's still has quite a few new lyrics, and the beat gives it a much DARKER theme) - Mulligans Goodbye (This one is right after "Meet me inside") - No John Trumbull (This one is played right BEFORE the First Cabinet Battle) - Schuyler Defeated Original Version (THIS ONE HAS A LOT MORE LINES, AND IS IMPORTANT TO WATCH FOR CONTEXT FOR THE NEXT SONG) - Let it Go (This one is played right after Schuyler Defeated, and consists on Washington and Eliza trying to convince Hamilton to not kill Burr) -One Last Ride (This one is the original Version of "One Last Time", and while there is quite a few similar lines, it's completely different, as this version is more about Washington and Hamilton discussing the how to stop a rebellion against the "Whiskey Tax". It does however, have the exact same Melody as "One Last Time") -Adams Administration Cut Rap (PLEASE WATCH THIS, I PROMISE YOU, IT'LL MAKE ADAMS ADMINISTRATION BECOME ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE SONGS) - I Have This Friend (This one is played right AFTER "We Know", but is played right BEFORE "Hurricane") -Congratulations (this reaction) -First Burn (this reaction) -Cabinet Battle 3 (There's a lot of back and forth on when this one takes place, but I think it makes the most sense if it takes place right before the Dear Theodosia reprise) - Dear Theodosia Reprise (This is played Right Before Blow Us All Away. This also gives context to Why Burr is missing from like 10 Songs when he's the Narrator) -Your Obedient Servant, Original Version (THIS VERSION PLAYS INTO A LOT OF THESE SCRAPPED SONGS AND HAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LYRICS, I DEF RECCOMEND CHECKING IT OUT) - 10 Things, 1 Thing (Eventually Replaced with The World was Wide Enough, Sounds the Same at First, but you'll quickly learn that it's different)
I feel like congratulations and first burn fits so well together, like if they had ended up including first burn in the show, congratulations would’ve probably been there too. Both are so angry and I love them with all my heart
@@carlycchapman I swear they already mentioned that Legally Blonde would be next, but they did seem to imply here that Wicked would be coming eventually
One thing you might not know is that, I belive in 2022/23 Hamilton was shown in Hamburg, Germany in a FULLY GERMAN version. Lin was collaborating with the German directors to translate the songs in German. Also, please, Casper (and Mortius if you haven't seen it) Watch Howard Ho's Analysis of some of the Hamilton songs if you haven't already, you're going to love it. (I know it's probably the third time I'm mentioning this but it's so insightful and so musically interesting to watch. Also, Casper made many connections that are talked about in those videos.)
I saw Hamilton when they went on tour in the Philippines and oh gosh Miss Rachel Ann Go as Eliza was PEAK PERFECTION, like she was soo giddy in helpless but I also still remember her cry from Philip's death after the heartbeat disappears, it echoed so hauntingly beautiful.
20:42 the main logic behind him writing the Reynolds pamphlet seems to be that he didn't want the people who knew about the affair to be able to use it against him. He might have assumed that it would be better for his career if he made sure that the scandal got out at a time when he wasn't really doing anything important (so no he wasn't really forced to write it to clear his name,, but I'm pretty sure he was afraid that the people who knew about it would speak about it at a really dangerous time, and his career would be over, so he just decided to get it over with at time when you can afford for his career to take a hit, he would have assumed he'd have more time to recover from this scandal then he ended up having) this is not to say that what he did was right, because obviously I don't think anyone should publicize the fact that they had an affair because it will lead to repercussions for their spouse as well as themself, it was definitely a dick move but there was actual reasoning behind it other than him just being paranoid (because if you give a political enemy any sort of dirt on you during a politically sensitive time,, it is not illogical to assume that they would use that rope to hang you)
Honestly I always loved first burn more than the actual song burn.... Because this song has a more emotional yet determined feeling to it and I've always loved that song more because technically that's the song that got me into Hamilton at all.... A song that was not going to fully make the cut but hey it's still a good song and I'm happy now I want to listen to that song again 🖤 On a different note first burn makes a very lovely breakup song no one can tell me otherwise 😂❤
Casper's point about connection to audience is actually what I love about Epic. I've had Scylla AND Antinous/Perimedes reply to my comments multiple times. I consider the cast of Epic celebrities, so the fact that KJ and Ayron reply to me is surreal. I've had Luke reply to me once and like a few of my comments, and Janani K Jha replied to a comment on RUclips, which is also insanely surreal. Epic has given me so much, and as excited as I am for Vengeance Saga, which has the song that first introduced me to Epic because of Morgan Clae's audition for Poseidon singing part of the song, I'm also sad. There's only one saga left afterwards. Our journey is almost done. Epic has been my motivation to take care of myself and keep going. It's what I look forward to. I suppose I still have Janani's Greek stories concept album to look forward to.
Eeeeeeeee!!!!!!! First of all, first burn is just soooo powerful, and I love that you pointed out all the amazing things they did with it. As for future projects, I’m looking forward to all of what you have to bring to the table. You guys are so dynamic, and I love both of the things hinted at. I hope you guys have so much fun with all of it. 😁
Y'all absolutely have to check out Warriors, Lin Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis' new concept album that just dropped!! Julia Harriman, who is the one who hits that INSANE note at the end of First Burn is in it as a main character. And so are Jasmine Cephas-Jones (Peggy/Mariah Reynolds) and Phillipa Soo (Eliza)!! Plus just a STACKED cast of rappers and singers from back in the day and today. Casper would be EATING with all the musical breakdown you could do and Mortius would have so many vocals to scream about!
In relation to epic, hamilton has quite the sets of animatics as well! They're absolutely worth checking out, lots of amazing things that just wrench your heart even more than the stage play
18:13 man you missed the chance to say just you wait xd (also i was thinking the same) ... wait.... popular? We're gonna be POPULAR? laaaa laaa la la (if it is what im thinking then i had to play the blond one at school and i still remember the loathing xd iykyk)
I heard a theory why they cut first burn is because First burn is attacking him personally which Hamilton already endured and goes through, while Burn is attacking his writing which is his vulnerability and weakness that would basically affect him WAYYY more !!
One comment my friend told me for the lyric "If you thought you were mine, don't." This could mean both "If you think you're still my husband, you shouldn't." or "You weren't only my husband were also our children's father. It isn't just me you're affecting."
I just realized what your style of reaction video satisfies for me, haha. It's the impulse I've had to erase from my behavior, when you're showing someone a show/song for the first time and you want to catch their reaction to a specific line or riff, but then if they start tallking or aren't paying close attention to the moment when it hits it hurts you so much and you want to stop so they get it or replay it but you can't without ruining the moment or making them mad because they just aren't ready to be in that moment with you. BUT YOU CAN DO ALL OF THAT and structured it so it's welcomed and entertaining. So satisfying watching y'all get to Sisteeeeeeer.
Yes! Next to normal and Come from away! Also I think Caspers reaction to the chaos that is Falsettos might also be fun, and there is a lot musically to be picked up.
There are so many more cut songs. (There’s an entire video with the off-Broadway musical version/workshop version of Hamilton with also a lot of the original cast and one with some of the changed and cut songs (though not all of them by far). So, technically there’s a lot more Hamilton to watch. But I’m definitely looking forward to the very popular series you’re doing next. It’s the only show I ever saw live on Broadway and it’s amazing!
You guys should react to The Hamilton Mixtape. It has some of the cut songs in it but is mostly rehashes/covers of songs from the musical by other artists, such as Usher, John Legend, Ashanti, and my personal favorite Jill Scott.
The way Casper describes the drumwork in First Burn makes me think he'll LOVE Immigrants, We Get the Job Done from the Hamilton Mixtape. Also I hope you consider Sweeney Todd, comparing the Johnny Depp version against the broadway songs! It would make a great spooky season musical if you have time.
I've had such a hard time watching these reactions because I'm so jealous that I don't have someone that will agree to watch everything I love and comment on all the awesome bits. Literally all I want is a friend that is as excited as I am about all the things I'm excited about. You're very lucky.
I cannot EVER get over the STINK faces that Casper makes when he is absolutely loving some harmonies, it's my favorite expression to see!!! Idk why, precisely -- it's like a culmination of the joy I feel myself when hearing such things, and I just ADORE how expressive he is!!! ❤ I love you both, guys!!!
Yes - Weird Al took the genius of Lin Manuel Miranda and combined it with his own into an incredible remix. And it’s so fun that the two of them are mutual fanboys of each other, so the video of Lin Manuel Miranda reacting to Weird Al’s Hamilton Polka is also fun how excited it makes him.
19:07 The idea that she warns him, that he should not come near here because she will hurt him is also so Eliza, being this sweet and caring person even though she has every right to slap him, but she still loves and cares for him. And it fits this eerie, scary music of what she would do, the whole song is about no one knows how she reacted to it. Nobody knows if she slapped him, screamed at him, ignored him or something else. The Unknown of her reaction practically.
I think it would be such a cool concept (or maybe its something I'd just enjoy hearing) if they choose other popular songs from Hamilton and have all actors/actresses sing it together like this. It would be sooo cool
I wish the original writing for schuyler defeated was here but ghats okay.. :,) Might see if my mom can pay for patreon for a bit cause i wanna see what other songs you guys reacted to. Edit: actually since the prohet one is only 10 a month i can use my allowance money once each month for that so my parents aren't losing anything :D Edit2: ALSO Angelicas relationship wasnt actually loveless. They actually loved each other pretty well
32:00 Fun fact! When I saw Hamilton on Broadway back in 2018, James Monroe Iglehart was playing Lafayette/Jefferson! (If that name sounds familiar but you can't place it - he voices Vortex, Asmodeus, and Zestial in Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel.)
I saw an ad for a new show about a cruise ship doctor, and I think I saw Phillipa Soo in it. Has anyone else seen it, or am I imagining it? Edit: Doctor Odyssey is the name of the show, and it is indeed Phillipa I saw.
In the show, Burr, Jefferson, and Madison GIVE HIM THEIR WORD that they won't reveal the affair or publicly accuse him of embezzlement, so he absolutely did *_not_* have to write the Reynolds Pamphlet.
I feel like Burr’s lines after the reveal though “we both know what we know” imply that though he’s not going to reveal it publicly himself, he’s not above making sure some rumors get fueled - for example it was reasonably common back then for letters to be published in newspapers under pseudonyms.
Jefferson, and Madison promise and leave. Burr kind of shrugs and then tells him people know what they know, implying he might orchestrate the info getting out without active telling the world himself.
With the vocal agility point, Hamilton does have the line "The Greatest City in the World" at the end of The schuyler sisters where it does that, I feel. When you get around to doing more Hamilton, you should check out some of the covers as well. I particularly recommend "Working with Lemons." Their videos are amazing and their choreography for Helpless/Satisfied is FLAWLESS. Also, they have the cutest Peggy ever!
Even if it takes years I would pay so much to get you to react to Hamilton Polca by Weird Al and How Hamilton Orders a Pizza by Daniel Thresher both excellent mwah chef's kiss songs that are just plain funny 😊
The Hamildrops though!!! Two years back to back of guest artists doing tribute work, INCLUDING THE JOHN ADDAMS AND BEN FRANKLIN SONGS WHICH WERE ALSO CUT SONGS
A sequel of an Eliza Musical will highlight this type of emotional song. Btw, Rachelle Ann Go was amazing as Eliza in the original West End Production, the Philippines', Abu Dhabi and Singapore (based on fantastic, honest reviews).
If you like the recording of "Congratulations", you have to see the Ham4Ham performance Renee did. The then-KG3, Rory O'Malley stood in for Alexander's parts.
My guess as to why Hamilton revealed his secret despite gaining nothing and losing everything is he's afraid either Madison, Jefferson or Burr will reveal his secret or use it as Blackmail like Reynolds did and would rather reveal it himself rather than have any of them spill the beans. Probably to maintain any dignity he still thinks he has or To not give any of them the satisfaction of ruining his life so he ruins it himself. Like in that South Park episode "Cartman Sucks" from season 11 ep2 Where Cartman has a physical photo of himself with Butter's phallus in his mouth, he loses it, thinks Kyle has it and will show it in class. So he takes the digital copy and shows it to class himself and thus, in his kind, robbing Kyle of the satisfaction. Turns out it was under his desk and Kyle never had it. He didn't have to reveal his secret, he did anyway and in the process, lost everything

Eliza in this song telling Angelica that she isn't naive and that she sees how Alexander married her just because she's a Schuyler sister, if he loved her he wouldn't cheat on her.

I love Congratulations SO much. And I ALWAYS get chills at that "We are your legacy" line in First Burn. Gooosh.

The reason they cut congratulations is because lin manuel miranda wanted 47 songs because thats how old hamilton was when he died

You guys should react to The Hamilton Mixtape. It has some of the cut songs in it but is mostly rehashes/covers of songs from the musical by other artists, such as Usher, John Legend, Ashanti, and my personal favorite Jill Scott.
Ooooh, I would be happy with either of those shows! Looking forward to whichever you guys end up doing first.
Please react to Hamilton in 7 Minutes animatic by Ziksua :D It's a great way to recap and conclude!
I need more cut songs reactions! 😭
As I remember they tock congratulations out cus they believed no one would forgive Hamilton after it
I have been watching since the beginning and now I neeeeed Casper to react to Hamilton Polka from Weird Al! We need his analysis of this!
Awh disappointed you didn't do the Adams Administration. That was special. I do love Congratulations. It was fantastic!
I think it would be such a cool concept (or maybe its something I'd just enjoy hearing) if they choose other popular songs from Hamilton and have all actors/actresses sing it together like this. It would be sooo cool
Oh! I'm surprised Casper knows the Mika song, but I guess he's more well known in Europe than in the states. Love that!
Y’all absolutely HAVE to react to the cut John Adams rap!
I see how you look at my sister is such a show stopper line 😭
Can you please react to the official video for "Immigrants - We Get the Job Done" and "I Wrote My Way Out" from the Hamilton Mixtape????????????
I love that version of immigrants. I've watched it over and over
I'm surprised y'all didn't use one of the animatic versions of "Congratulations" they are soooo good!
You NEED to react to Warriors. It literally JUST came out and it’s incredible!! I really want to hear your thoughts on that
Congratulations would have stopped the flow in reynolds pamphlet
I wish the original writing for schuyler defeated was here but ghats okay.. :,)
Might see if my mom can pay for patreon for a bit cause i wanna see what other songs you guys reacted to.
Edit: actually since the prohet one is only 10 a month i can use my allowance money once each month for that so my parents aren't losing anything :D
Edit2: ALSO Angelicas relationship wasnt actually loveless.
Woo I'm happy you guys got to do this
I saw an ad for a new show about a cruise ship doctor, and I think I saw Phillipa Soo in it. Has anyone else seen it, or am I imagining it?
Edit: Doctor Odyssey is the name of the show, and it is indeed Phillipa I saw.
See, I hadn't heard about the Cut Song Saga and now all I can think about is Lady Poseidon.
Need a reaction to the Dear Theodosia reprise as well, though it's short. It's heartbreaking.
I love Mortius and Casper but I want to break his pause button.
Oh my god you guys! We are gonna be dancing through live!
Can't wait to see if you guys do in the heights Lynn's 1st musical
I would love to see you guys react to cabinet battle 3. It is so good
Would love to see you do the Hamilton Mixtape.
34:28 that hurt
I like to imagine it was a bit. But assuming it’s not, can’t wait for him to hear the original! 😂
…I can agree. That physically and mentally pained me…
You guys should react to Ziksuas First Burn and Congratulations animations sometime!
Yes you reacted to first burn🔥🔥
That was, in fact, Renee Elise Goldsberry in "Congratulations".
Even if it takes years I would pay so much to get you to react to Hamilton Polca by Weird Al and How Hamilton Orders a Pizza by Daniel Thresher
both excellent mwah chef's kiss songs that are just plain funny 😊
Lexi took over after phillipa su. And Rachel Originated the role On The west end In England
First Burn is SOO GOOD!!
7:18 Okay, some of the mistakes in wording or spelling I was able to ignore (despite it driving my OCD crazy) but that HAS to be intentional. "Moar"?
The Hamildrops though!!!
Two years back to back of guest artists doing tribute work, INCLUDING THE JOHN ADDAMS AND BEN FRANKLIN SONGS WHICH WERE ALSO CUT SONGS
A sequel of an Eliza Musical will highlight this type of emotional song. Btw, Rachelle Ann Go was amazing as Eliza in the original West End Production, the Philippines', Abu Dhabi and Singapore (based on fantastic, honest reviews).
Noooo you have to do the John Addams diss track and Obama's One Last Time too before you end the Hamilton adventure!!!
Fun fact! Shoba Narayan, one of the Eliza actresses here also voices Emily on Hazbin Hotel!!
If you like the recording of "Congratulations", you have to see the Ham4Ham performance Renee did. The then-KG3, Rory O'Malley stood in for Alexander's parts.
I cannot recommend enough that Casper check out the Hamilton Mixtape.
Aww, I thought you guys would also react the full version of The Adam's administration 🥲
My guess as to why Hamilton revealed his secret despite gaining nothing and losing everything is he's afraid either Madison, Jefferson or Burr will reveal his secret or use it as Blackmail like Reynolds did and would rather reveal it himself rather than have any of them spill the beans.
Probably to maintain any dignity he still thinks he has
or
To not give any of them the satisfaction of ruining his life so he ruins it himself.
Like in that South Park episode "Cartman Sucks" from season 11 ep2
Where Cartman has a physical photo of himself with Butter's phallus in his mouth, he loses it, thinks Kyle has it and will show it in class.
So he takes the digital copy and shows it to class himself and thus, in his kind, robbing Kyle of the satisfaction.
Turns out it was under his desk and Kyle never had it.
He didn't have to reveal his secret, he did anyway and in the process, lost everything
