How DARE they come for Ewan McGregor's singing. "No vibrato either" - girl, that ain't the standard of a good singer and vibrato's a relatively recent phenomenon. TONS of artists have straight tone. Vibrato is WAY overused in modern singing, and most of the time it's just wobble. I mean, at least LEARN TO PRONOUNCE HIS NAME before you come for him.
To answer about Legally Blonde. No this was not from Legally Blonde the Musical: The Search For the Next Elle Woods. It was the opening show on Broadway that was filmed and aired on MTV to reach wider audiences, similar to Hamilton on Disney+.
I'm being a stupid geek. But "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" is a movie; "The Rocky Horror Show" is the stage production. They are fairly different. There are songs that aren't in the movie, for starters.
Clue 1, I was screaming “The wiz!” Also, I’m going to finally see Hamilton on Broadway in May for the first time and I freaked when the clue came up! Christopher Jackson’s, “Dying is easy young man, living is hard” send chills when I hear it on the soundtrack!
16:22 "He's the one who killed all his wives" Actually two of them he killed: Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard. (If I can't keep my Musical Geek card, at least I can keep my History Buff card)
Not one thing this week made me angrier than people guessing HERCULES for the story of ORPHEUS AND EURYDICE. Hercules and Orpheus did both vacation in the same spot once to retrieve a living(*) macguffin, though, so I understand the confusion.
Not to "um actually"...but um actually it was The Rocky Horror Show when it was on (off) Broadway. They called the movie "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", but the show itself it The Rocky Hororr Show.
Izzy & Sharon are so hilarious 😂 🤣 I also appreciated more of Corey’s singing, the pipes are for real 🔥 And also happy to see more of Sylvia, she’s adorable 🥰 plus I knew most of these loving theatre growing up
Ride the Cyclone would be a good one, it's not as well known And Mary Poppins, I saw it recently and there's new songs that aren't in the movie they could use.
When Sabrina was like "I have the whole 2 hours and 19 minutes memorized" I was like "So do I, and actually it's 2 hours, 22 minutes and 26 seconds exactly" :3
i love Rocky Horror especially because i have so many memories of going to see it in the theater with my mom as a kid. my mom started taking me to see this when i was just 4 and when we lived in Florida the "cast" would always bring me up on stage' to dance with them during 'Time Warp'. i used to go at least once a month with my mom up until i was a teenager and went away for school. after i became an adult mom and i would only go a few times a year until i had my daughter. i sure miss going and wished i could expose my daughter to it like my mom did but it just doesnt play at many theaters any more & its just not as popular as it was so there arent many 'true' fans in my area as there were/are in other places. also without my mom around any more its just not the same, and my husband really doesnt understand the appeal of going. but every time i watch the movie( i own a collector's box set of the movie & album) it still brings back memories of going with my mom. RIP Maw i miss you'
Strictly speaking, Cats did not premiere in 1982. That was its Broadway premiere date, and it played London in 1981 before. The technical correct answer would have been Song and Dance, which premiered in the West End in 1982. But you’d expect USA- ians to forget other countries exist or that theatre exists outside Broadway, lmao
The part where they got the clue ''It's a number'' and in the last clue it literally said six wives, I was banging my head on the table. (For legal reasons this is a joke and I would probably also be like this)
@@Eerex594 i have no idea then haha. i’ve listened to/seen Hamilton, Heathers, Be More Chill, Newsies, West Side Story, In The Heights, Percy Jackson, Dear Evan Hansen, Mean Girls, & legally Blonde. all i can think of right now 🤷 but i will say, i have heard of some of the musicals mentioned in the video, i’ve just gotten around to listening to them
My sister was in a traveling musical theatre group as a kid and the amount of times I heard into the woods and Godspell! I can never witness them again no matter how star studded the cast may be
Our band took a week long field trip to Chicago. While there we attended a theater in the round production of Into The Woods, back in 89/90? Ever since, when any of us bump into each other, we break into "Into The Woods". 🤣🤣🤣
Had to pause the video only because I’ve not seen it in the comments: Beyonce’s inspiration for her “Get Me Bodied” music video was from Bob Fosse’s musical “Sweet Charity”, not “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”. Back to the vid!
I would have personally done the original studio recording of Six, which was part of the West End theatre in the UK, as that was the original before it came to Broadway. Not a big fan of the Broadway version of Six.
Many of them are amazing singers but not so great at trivia. Meanwhile, I knew every musical, but I’d trade that in a heartbeat for Corey’s voice (Dani’s great too, but I’d rather sing tenor than countertenor as a personal preference). 😊
Ryan Gosling spent his time in Cornwall, Ontario, which is very near Ottawa. I was in tap, jazz and ballet and did competitions. I was in the same age group and the closest I can claim to "have known a star before he was a star" is Ryan. I competed against him many times from about 8-12. But only in group routines. I never did solos or duets or trios. He did many. I've never seen La La Land, but after seeing that he taps in it (which he's been doing since at least 1988) I wanna check it out.
@@laurabailey1054 not sure what the point of your comment is. But it's also wrong. Ottawa is 98Km from Cornwall. Kingston is 181km from Cornwall. But again, not sure what point you were trying to make. Even if Kingston was closer, it doesn't negate the history I had dancing in competitions that Ryan competed in as well. There were maybe 1 or 2 in Ottawa. But we competed in Toronto, North Bay, possibly Montreal. But again your point is making me go 🤷🏼♀️
I wish they did more Musical Theatre videos.
sameee im starting to have more of an interest in musicals and theatre because my boyfriend is super into musicals haha
@@176gumi That is awesome! I've been doing theatre my whole life. Right now, I'm currently directing RENT in our local theatre.

Corey and Izzy just guessing random numbers for Six made me legitimately laugh out loud.
I love how Corey just casually belted out those beautiful notes.
The people criticizing Ewan McGregor's voice don't know what they're talking about.
As an ex-theater kid, you are correct. But that's true of almost anything we/they are allowed to talk about 😂
16:18 Random fact: The costume designer of _Six_ is currently designing the costumes for a revival of _Starlight Express!_

"its a modern retelling of henry the 8's six wives and it's a number" "ten?"
🤦♂️
...I like Sharon most days but her calling El Tango de Roxanne "The worst song in the movie," I went into fight mode.
I feel like the better clip for that is Aaron Tveit on Broadway, so much stronger of a performance imo
The audacity to call El Tango De Roxanne the worst song in Mouline Rouge lol
I know! My jaw literally dropped
I know. How dare she!!!!!!!
HOW DARE SHARON SAY "EL TANGO DE ROXANNE" IS THE WORST SONG IN MOULIN ROUGE. BLASPHEMY.
well the movie one is okay but the broadway version is AMAZING AND I LOVE IT
"Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim"
*Blight:* "Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?"
I know lea Michelle has a personality that bites...
But seeing her in Funny Girl in real life when she did it in Glee is just awesome lol
The fact that when I saw "Dying is easy, young man" I mentally screamed Hamilton (because I'm not alone)
I’m sorry did Sharon just say El Tango de Roxanne is the WORST SONG from the movie version of Moulin Rouge?!
I know right???
Did she just say that she didn't like Hamilton?
To answer about Legally Blonde. No this was not from Legally Blonde the Musical: The Search For the Next Elle Woods. It was the opening show on Broadway that was filmed and aired on MTV to reach wider audiences, similar to Hamilton on Disney+.
WORST SONG IN THE MOVIE, SHARON?! EL TANGO DE ROXXANE IS AMAZING, and maybe even my favorite. TAKE THAT BACK.
>Roxanne comes on
"worst song in the movie"
probably everyone else in the theater audience: 😱
I'm being a stupid geek. But "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" is a movie; "The Rocky Horror Show" is the stage production. They are fairly different. There are songs that aren't in the movie, for starters.
Yes, and they said both names. Tim Curry was also in both as well.
I couldn’t help but feel some of these choices were a little disappointing - especially as there are so many legendary musicals out there
"Orpheus and Eruydice"
Them: hErCuLeS
I was ready to fight when they were coming after Ewan!
The Wiz knew how to properly reimagine a classic, and do it right. 💜
Maybe she's a Sting purist and that's why she thinks El Tango de Roxanne is the "worst song", because otherwise that's just blasphemy.
Absolutely
The stage version is "The Rocky Horror Show". Only the MOVIE is titled "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".
Was about to say this😂
I always forget that 😂
Clue 1, I was screaming “The wiz!” Also, I’m going to finally see Hamilton on Broadway in May for the first time and I freaked when the clue came up! Christopher Jackson’s, “Dying is easy young man, living is hard” send chills when I hear it on the soundtrack!

But can we all agree that Henry VIII was objectively a psychopath?
@@andrewlevin7586 "objectively"? He *was* a monster to his wives, daughters, and friends.
Not one thing this week made me angrier than people guessing HERCULES for the story of ORPHEUS AND EURYDICE. Hercules and Orpheus did both vacation in the same spot once to retrieve a living(*) macguffin, though, so I understand the confusion.
Followed only by Macbeth as the retelling of Henry VIII's wives.
Or when one said ‘prince of Egypt’ for Hadestown🙃
“She might not be able to read, but the girls can sing” 💀
The problems with Cats (2019) is it wasnt meant to be a movie. Its a stage production, seeing the show in person is a part of what made Cats great.
“Man, all the twinks in this are so good” had me rolling on the floor😂
"I love the slime tutorial version of this video" 😂 theatre kid private joke here !!

The fact that hadestown is a college course astounds me and I am glad it is so iconic and classic already.
I met the creator of the Rocky Horror Picture show a few years ago. The strangest person ever but an absolute laugh.
Please do another one of these but include heathers, beetle juice, hairspray, Annie, Matilda, the greatest showman, wicked, and mama mia
