    During sieges, short range melee weapons helps a lot, as anything long will get blocked by the walls and other combatants.

      Imma level with you chief, doesn’t matter for me, I just wait for the enemy to run out of siege weapons then f1 f2 all my archers to stand in front of one section of wall till they run out of arrows.
      Which is unsurprisingly effective when all you recruit are horse archers or regular archers mid to late game

    24:40 Actually the best arrows are bodkin. They have only 1 less damage but they have a lot bigger stack amount. It's a lot better to have 60 +3 arrows than 50 +4

    • @zamzamazawarma928
      @zamzamazawarma928 2 года назад +4

      How so? Bodkins will last longer but they give less damage (180) over more time (60), whereas piercing give more damage (200) over less time (50). Having more arrows allows for more kills, but only if 1 arrow = 1 kill, and only the player can achieve this. So bodkins might be "the best" for yourself, the player, but for the AI troops it's probably more situational. Also, they're a different type of damage iirc. (Edit: typo)

    • @Glo0ze
      @Glo0ze 2 года назад +6

      @@zamzamazawarma928 No you got this wrong my friend. Because each shot does damage of BOW + ARROW not only the arrow. and since the bow has way higher damage then the arrow anyway overall more shots is almost always more damage. so the calc is like this: 60 * (62(bowdamage)+3 (arrow damage))= 60 * 65 =3900 vs 50* (62(bow damage)+4(arrow damage) = 50 * 66 =3300 damage total. so from the example above take the first 50 shots. with pierce arrows you do 50 more damage then with stacked bodkins but the base damage of the bow is higher than that so with only 1 more arrow fired the stacked bodkins overtake the pierce arrows in damage done. and then they still have loads more arrows to spare

    • @Glo0ze
      @Glo0ze 2 года назад +3

      @@DziaduSwierznowski Well thats only if you consider the damage done by the arrow but by far most of the damage per shot comes from the bow not the arrow, one extra shot from a stacked bodkin already compensates for more than all the extra damage gained from piercing arrows (see my comment below in response to to Zam)

    • @teambellavsteamalice
      @teambellavsteamalice 2 года назад +1

      Stacked Bodkin are my favourite too. Shots either kill in one shot or wound the target, then it takes two or three shots on a regular target. Some of the damage is absorbed, but say 40-60 gets through. Excess damage is lost so 1-3 more damage rarely matters.
      On the other hand, archers with two quivers don't often run out so you might prefer the extra damage.

    I have an army of 50 Vanguard Faris and 50 Heavy Mamlukes and feel unstoppable in both field and sieges. I also keep a few dozen infantry around just to train up and drop off in garrisons when they hit tier 5. Those javelins do serious work when defending and of course they hurt people in melee too. Very fun army, I know the archers and palace guard are strong I just don't prioritize them because everything has been working so well with just Infantry for defending and Faris/Mamlukes for destroying enemy armies!

    • @TheSmrtAlec
      @TheSmrtAlec 2 года назад +5

      @@reflexgaming708 Yeah they still feel strong, biggest problem is availability, can be a bit tough to maintain. For example I recently hired about 10 Khuzait horse archers due to losses and not wanting to go all the way back to recruit Mamlukes, Faris seem to have pretty good staying power no real problems with them. Other lords are reckless with your troops like always so keep that in mind, a bad AI charge can wipe out even Cataphracts and Banner Knights so your cav, especially against Empire and Vlandia, needs to be under your control so they don't get suicided without proper support. Still not super micro intensive, but nothing is truly unstoppable I was being a bit dramatic in my comment lol.

    • @TheSmrtAlec
      @TheSmrtAlec 2 года назад +2

      @@reflexgaming708 Honestly, it can take a long while, but finding mounted mamelukes in developed towns is possible which helps. Needing to level up Mameluke infantry to become mounted archers can be a challenge. They're not that great an infantry unit and all those horses can be expensive. Also heavy mamelukes are way better than the regular mameluke archer which become most of the casualties I find. Outside of T5/6 Aserai can be pretty squishy if stuck in melee for too long or out ranged which hurts progression. BUT their T5/6 units go hard.
      Objectively I think an army of roughly 1/3 T5 veteran infantry/palace guards, 1/3 T5 master archers, 1/3 Vanguard Faris (priority on the archers always and ditch infantry for more Faris and Mameluke Cav against Khuzait) is the best core group you can have as it takes advantage of the Aserai's strong ranged damage/flexibility. Using Mameluke Cav to augment as needed as they take the most effort to recruit. But all cav armies are fun and definitely strong for the Aserai. Not a pro at this game so take with a grain of salt if you're trying to play optimally/meta, especially on the hardest difficulties. I mostly RP and try to make whatever I choose to play as work well enough.

    The biggest weakness for Aserai army seems to be lords being a bit too passive while having rather aggressive neighbors like Vlandia, most of the time I just watch them take one or two castles in the mainland, then proceed to lose a big fight, and being snowballed back inland, then have to work their arse off to get back where they start.

    I would agree with most of the video with the exception of the Mamluke Palace Guard. Compared tot he Veteran Infantry they end up doing about as many kills both in manual and auto-combat but end up losing twice as many each fight. I do not see a reason to go for this even though they would most likely kill high armor units faster.

    • @Glo0ze
      @Glo0ze 2 года назад +3

      This very much depends on who you fight. Palace guard are really good against other high tier infantry they trade almost always above 1 kda. BUT veterans are WAAYY better at punching down (killing low tiers) because of their shield and good 1 handed. With the shield they can Block blows and missiles from low tiers meaning they take no damage at all and can slaughter loads where as the palace guard will take hits since they have no shield and will eventually die even to low tiers since damage accumulates over a battle. Since the AI does not field alot of high tier troops most of the time you will get a better ROI for your veterans and palace guard wil seem underwhelming at best

    That's why I like the Aserai military as a whole. Each unit is versatile, yet they don't overlap with each other. Vlandia and Sturgia for example, have multiple ground troops where some outclass another. Aserai's Noble line also doesn't overlap with it's own Regular Cav, unlike Khuzait and Vlandia.

    I seriously appreciate this review, fantastic job.
    Just my two cents from playing the Aserai since early access:
    Such bullshit that Aserai survivability depends on random, totally unpredictable, javelin throwing. Their Tier 5 infantry and even noble line cavalry get absolutely massacred by other factions. Vlandia is the OP faction alongside the Empire. The Aserai are objectively and provably the worst faction across the board, aside from the Aserai Master Archer, which is maybe the 3rd best archer, but has the worst tier 5 melee for archers.
    Phrases like *"Well it depends on how you use them"* are another way of saying they suck/are hard to use, and need to be very particularly used to be even mediocre.
    Just an absolute shit faction imo that gets little to no attention or improvement from TaleWorld. They need massive buffs across the board.

Plus if you have multiple high ratings you dont know which is better. But i do have to say that ranking a tier 5 by their ability to kill tier 5 is not that useful since they AI rarely fields a lot of tier 5. If you ever update or recap these videos, cover each line for all tiers before switching to the next!
    Also you could evaluate tier 4 and 5 troops and cover the (2 and) 3 tiers as a kind of tax or minor plus. Tier 3 just have to survive leveling up how good it is doesn't matter and I'd skip tier 2 entirely. Then you can compare an equal spread of 3, 4 and 5.
    When comparing the noble lines, after a disclaimer tier 6 makes all non noble look bad, also only compare 3, 4 and 5.
